No nap, yet, but in a few moments. I have just typed up a summary of my political points of view. Can´t picture myself in that role. I guess I am just to outspoken for that type of job.

Good Morning all,
Ray thanks for the Hojack pictures. I see on rail net only the center rail deck remains with about 95% of the bridge missing. The underwater parts of the bridge will be the time consuming part of the evolution. We have 2 more scheduled to be removed this summer one swing and one jackknife.
Thanks for the well wishes.
Katje will be off light duty next week so she and I can start our walking regiment again.

Doing my good deed for the holiday season tonight. I’m donating my old Christmas Tree and some ornaments to a charity house tonight. It’s on the bad side of town so a couple guys from the train club will go with me.

Good morning. It's 33° with 100% humidity. It'll be mostly sunny with a high of 65°.Nothing special planned for today. I have an intense pain right between my shoulder blades. I'm hoping that'll fade before noon. I'll probably be going to town later to make a bank deposit. There it is. The possible schedule for my exciting day.

Seriously, I have decided to run for our Bundestag (i.e. house of Representatives) in the 2013 election. I most likely won´t have a chance to win in my constituency, but at least I can be a PITA for some of those "established" politicians during the campaign. That should be fun!

Mornin' everyone!
Zoe, I'll have the #2 special, eggs over easy, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sour dough toast to get me going this morning. Oh and don't forget the dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug please!
I actually had a good nights sleep last night and didn't even stir until after 9:30AM... Took my morning blood sugar and it was low at 69. It has been averaging about 20 points lower since the doc took me off the Niacin. If I start getting a lot of low readings I'll make an appointment to see the Nurse Practitioner who does the Diabetes stuff.
So.... What's all the people doing outside with the Ulrich for something or other signs... Ah, running for office, eh?
Lee, more photos of the Hojack project here and here. Enjoy!
Naps? Wish I had taken a lot more when I was younger...
Thought for the day: I was always taught to respect my elders, but it keeps getting harder to find one.
The big round yellow thing is out for the moment and i have about 6 face cord of wood needing to be moved from my driveway to the back porch now that the roof supports have been replaced. Yep they came and did it yesterday afternoon. I called the vet yesterday after the repair men left. The asst. at the office said just to watch Manét and if he doesn't lose it in the next few days and/or it is really bothering they will remove it. But it shouldn't cause problems for him.
Best get moving!

We'll get there sooner or later!
Morning guys
Not much going on as of yet, but I'm about to try to put together the tri-level autorack kit. Figure I'll put the autos in later because I found out one of the cheapy cars I use is actually a pretty tight fit into the lower 2 decks, so I can just hold them in with friction. I need some tacky glue for the top level though.
If the local MR club does a train show downtown this year, I'll run a bunch of loaded autoracks (I have 5, with 3 more coming in), pig flats, and maybe the "tank car." "Tank car" is a tank and it is a car, but not a tank car (M60A3 on a 60' intermountain flat). Dunno what I'll pull it with though. Typically hotshot freights had GPs, B-boats, or SD45s/F45s.

I did that once, lol

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Got my laundry done, made the bank deposit and picked up some items I needed from Lowe's. That's my day done. My mother goes back to the nursing home today. She needs care and physical therapy we can't give her here. Just moving her from room to room is a major chore and usually requires more than one person. Problem is during the day there's no one else and I can't move her on my own. I did that yesterday and today I can hardly move. A family vote was taken yesterday and the vote was that she goes back for as long as the insurance lasts. Even she voted yes. In the meantime something will have to be set up for 24/7 care.
Calling it a day.
G´night, everyone!
Afternoon folks!
Chloe, I'll have a cup of hot chocolate please.
Jeffrey, glad your mother can go back to the Nursing Home for a bit while your family sorts out how to best deal with all the issues. I will keep you in my prayers. I know how difficult all these things are...
Just got back home from the Vet Hospital. Manét is having surgery as I type. Tooth will be extracted by the Vet. She won't be in tomorrow and we didn't think it could wait until Monday. He is probably running a fever and hasn't eaten anything in 2 days. Hopefully he will be able to come home tonight when they close up the place. I will get to give him pills for a few days.... Oh joy, oh rapture! He is not an easy cat to medicate. We will try some very small pills and use the pill pockets to see if he will take them that way. Poor little guy...
Later!
howmusWe will try some very small pills and use the pill pockets to see if he will take them that way. Poor little guy...
Awww, I hate it when our pets aren't feeling well. Our Furnando seems to be prone to eye infections. Plus he has a tender tummy. It takes two of us to put the eye drops in and even then it's a wrestling match.
When he has to be given pills we always use the pill pockets. He loves them and at least it isn't the fight it is trying to get him to swallow the pills otherwise.
Anyway hope you get your puss back soon!

Could use a light refreshment to help relax a bit....
I got off work early today, so, I thought I'd stop in to say hello before I go back in this evening for several hours...what a bummer
On a positive note, my oldest daughter passed her HESI today, which means she will be graduating from nursing school (RN) early next month. I am very proud of her, as she has been going to school full time, working full time and caring for her two kids and my son-in-law over the last couple years. Quite an accomplishment.
And...
My youngest son just got promoted to sergeant and completed his fourth month of a nine month deployment as he serves our country as a combat engineer in Afghanistan. His unit does route clearance, which means they go out and hunt down IEDs and dispose of them before they have a chance to blow up our troops and the local civilians. I'm living vicariously through him
Hope everyone is having a good day...TTYL.
I am so glad that we have universal health care in Canada. No, it doesn't cover everything but even still the cost of additional insurance for my wife and I was about $245 quarterly. Now that we are over 65, it's free except for meds, which we only pay 20% of the total. My hearing aids are covered by workers compensation totally due to the fact that the hearing loss was work related. Even the batteries which seems like a small thing but I use 4 a week and at $1 each, it adds up quite quickly.
As for ailing parents, I know how hard it is on the entire family. We just went through what you are going through this time last year. My thoughts are with you Jeff. Hang in there!
Thank you Dennis...
Manét is back home. Tooth removed, an absorbable stitch put in, was given antibiotic and a pain killer. He is feeling better already and just came over and begged for food. He is not supposed to get very much to eat for the first 24 hours and should be on soft food for 5 or 6 days... So I gave him just a little bit of his canned food, which he ate right up. He hadn't eaten anything in almost 3 days, so that is a good sign. I'll give him an empty pill pocket tonight as a treat. he will be getting 2 pills twice a day for the next 10 days... Hope the pill pockets work.

Looking around on the net today and came across what I think is about the craziest thing on rails. The Toonerville Trolley. You have to see one in action to really appreciate it. A great way to get a laugh.I had some mad money laying around so used some of it to pick up a Digitrax DZ125 decoder on Ebay. $21.99 total. I'll use it to change out the one in one of Bachmann GP7's. That one has a damaged lighting circuit. The light stays on all the time. It won't turn off for anything and comes on the instant power goes to the track no matter what loco is selected. Other than the light problem the decoder works fine, so I'll likely put it in a slug unit that doesn't need a light.
Good evening.
Lee .... Good idea to give Christmas stuff to the needy.
Darryl ..... Congratulations for your daughter. Your son's service is appreciated, and prayers for his safe return home.
Ray ..... That was a funny thought for the day.
Jeff .... I have a couple of decoders with non-functioning light circuits. They are now in powered B-unuits. In fact, I just installed one yesterday. I had a Proto 1000 F3B which I repaired, and nrxt it needed a decoder. The defective decoder works fine in it.
Ulrich ... Good luck with the politics. Do you have a platform yet? I had an ancestor of long ago who was a governor for Ohio. Perhaps you can do whistle stop campaigning.
Cheers everybody!

Ray, I'm gonna come see your Doc! I took myself off the Lipitor,,,the muscle aches went away,,but I'm still taking 3 extended release Niacin every day, and my sugar still is 30-40 points too high in the a.m. OR I'm gonna back off the Niacin a bit and see how it changes. I'm swallowing 9 pills each morning between RX's and vitamins and other supplements (all at the DR.s direction)
I don't need breakfast!!
Glad to see Manet is doing better. I don't envy you though giving a cat a pill. Cats, dogs, etc are all a problem with pills. What you need is a cat sized version of this gizmo we had down on the farm. Basicly it was a spring loaded tube that would shoot a pill down the gullet of a horse or a cow! No return once the trigger was pulled!!
Ulrich, Are you getting, can I say it here? political on us??
Jeffrey Sounds like the family made the right decision. Not only will Mom have better care, you yourself can get better so that the time you do spend with her will be more quality time, not spent with you playing nurse
Galaxy If it will make you feel better, just stick your head out of the back of the diner and SCREAM!!! Works for me! I used to do the same after heated family discussions about that same subject, till Dad's health forced the move.
Ken, Do well on that test! Could be the beginning steps of a move up!

galaxyTRAINS: the Canadian Pacific Holiday train Stopped in the Conklin Yard for Binghamton city last night after visiting Steamtown in Scranton PA. ! We didn't go...my goodness no place to park then! But we see on the news! They colloect non perishable foods for CHOW in our area {Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse}. GOOD JOB, CP!!!
My Daughter used to be a Rail Traffic Controller at CP. Every Xmas season, she would be on mutter mumble mode when the CP Holiday Train was running in her district because of course it wrecked havoc with the general operations of the regular rail traffic. Although she is located in Calgary AB, that is where CP controls all traffic from Montreal west to the pacific.
Quite an operation let me tell you! Anyway, just a bit of trivia for you all.

Yep, I have one of those sitting in a drawer in the kitchen.... (We used the one for Cows many times on the farm... Ours just had a manual plunger on it, but they worked well for cattle.) Any of you want to try giving sweet little Manét, the 20 lbs. of TNT a pill with it, be my guest... Yep the pill pockets are the best invention to come around for medicating pets in years! Manét just came out to the kitchen a few minutes ago looking for more food. At least his appetite is back. He seems to be feeling much better. Anyway, I opened the bag of the pill pockets and held one in my hand for him. He looked at me as if to say, "You want me to fall for this?" He finally sniffed it a few times, then licked it once. Gobbled it right out of my hand, he did! This just might work.... He also got a plate of his canned food finely chopped up. He ate it and licked the plate clean and then looked for more. He can't have more than a little bit of food at a time until tomorrow.
My sister the Reverend called this evening to chat. We got caught up on all the family goings on.
Maybe sometime tomorrow I might get down to the trains and get a few things done... around all the other items on the calendar...
