Good Morning!!!

Grilled cheese and onion sandwich, an order of onion petals and could I get some of that sweet chili sauce to dip in and a Dr Pepper please. Thank you.

Glad to see Cowboy Rob's ok.

Well today is install a vanity light as it was not really intended to be mounted day. Brenda likes one light fixture. One. So, it is up to me to figure out how to mount this thing in a fashion to intended by the manufacturer. Actually it isn’t that bad but sounds good.

Bathroom is all but done, the shower door was special order of course, she can smell these things and they suddenly become the only one she likes, and I have to replace the ceiling light exhaust fan thing. Not looking forward to that because the thing is clean across the house from the attic entrance in the garage so I have to wade through 2 feet of insulation between the maze of rafter things and try not to miss a joist and stick my foot through the ceiling causing aNOTHER project. What makes it bad is I know one of two things will happen when I do get to the spot. I will have forgotten something and have to go all the way back, or as soon as I get there……, I’ll have to pee.

Ya’ll have a good day!!!!

Jeffery, any comments on my blood sugar readings? I all so got the gondola the other day. Sorry I forgot to get you know.

On the wheat bread issue, I had to drop that because it shoots my levels through the roof! Rye is somewhat better, sourdough is lower and pumpernickel is supposedly the best as it's the lowest on the glycemic index. Try to avoid foods high in starch. Pasta is OK as it digests slowly, rice isn't as it flashes to sugar. My doctors advice to me was to avoid starchy foods and you can eat all the meat you want as long as it doesn't have much fat.

Let me know when you send that boxcar my way.

Hello ... Good to see everybody, but there are too many MIA's.

We're in Alabama for the big get-together for my mother's 93rd b'day. It's good to be together, and Mom is happy to se us. I'm definately sore from traveling, and it was too early to travel I can tell now. Oh well. It'll get better eventually.

I saw the current MR. In particular there is a good discussion on F-units. They were designed for multiple unit operation with an A-unit on each end so there was no need to turn the direction of the locomotive in terminals. On my layout I run the Burlington F-units as AA, ABA, ABBA, or ABBBA sets as did the Burlington in the 1950's.

I hope a lot of people visit the Diner this weekend.

Happy Model Railroading.

 Evening Dinners

 Flo, Beer Pleases.

Again, did not get as much done as I wanted. Big Boy is still on the RIP track. Simon did stop by and showed me how to use Decoder Pro as a Electronic Throttle! I posted a quick review on the main page. I really do like it. Curt, I know you run sound engines, take a look.

Stopping Smoking. OK I have take 2 steps toward that goal. While I have the Patch I have yet to use them. Besides stilling some Cigarettes left, I pretty sure I need something to do with my hands. So today I bought a Electronic Cigarette. I can get refills with out Nicotine. Wish me luck!

Jeffery, where your ears burning today? Simon and I where talking about how much your modeling skills have improved. Your Box Car is on its way. I did forget the tracking number option, but it should be there by Tuesday.

  See you all later.

Evenin' Folks!

Janie, just a cup of decaf for me.  I ate way too much of all the wrong things today at the R&GV RR Picnic...  Pulled pork, BBQ Chicken, Potato Salad, Baked Beans, Corn Bread, Fresh Fruit and an array of whatever you like to drive (non Alcoholic of course).  I had just fruit for supper when I got home.

Ken, Jeffrey is correct on the breads, but that pertains mostly to the store bought commercial stuff.  Commercial Whole Wheat has almost no "Whole Wheat" flour in it.  Same with most of the other breads.  Real "Whole Wheat Bread" made from flour that has the bran in it is much less likely to spike the sugar.  Look for the amount of fiber in the bread as well (the more the better).  I only buy multi-grain whole flour bread baked in store.  Doesn't bump my sugar up nearly as much as pasta.  For me I have to watch even whole grain pasta as it does a number on me.  Part of the trick is to find what YOU can eat and keep the glucose in check.  I do disagree strongly with Jeff's Doctor, or should I say my Dietician would hang him out to dry on the meat thing.  Most Diabetic clinicians today limit meat to a 4 oz. portion or less and only 2 servings per day.  My dietician told me in no uncertain terms she hates having to visit her patients in the dialysis unit.  Too much protein will destroy a diabetics kidneys! (Jeffrey may need more protein in his diet due to some other conditions he has.)  I guess what I am trying to say is : Listen to and follow your doctor's and dietician's advise and diet!  BTW, what meds are you on so far?  Congratulations on the smoking! Thumbs UpThumbs Up

At noon today, RG&E 45 Tonner Beebee Station, is on the active service roster of the R&GV RR Museum!  Right after lunch she was officially brought down for the ceremony attended by several guests (Including a couple high muckky mucks from RG&E)

Here she is arriving at Industry Station for her first "official" trip in service:

The gentleman on the deck is a recent RIT graduate whoa few years ago took on the restoration project that had basically stalled.  After several years and thousands of hours of volunteer time she sure looks and runs great!  He also is in his second term as Vice-President of the Museum.

More photos of the last few days can be found here.

Hope you all are having a great day!

Yes, it's due to my needs. I'm on a high protein, low starch diet. Doesn't mean it always goes that way.

JEEZ, it's dark out there! Where is the sun? Hey! it's SUNDAY, so why the heck am I up at 3:18, and the coffee is warming up.    I did retire my truck. Are you aware 15 inch tires are hard to find? Tire stores have to order them.   I did retire in 1995.  After we left Miami and moved to Eustis, mid Fla., Deb had a good job and life in MRRing was good. 2003 was when Deb's health got bad and I had to unretire.

Wish you all [y'all] a nice day. Prayers and Blessings.

Good morning. It's 72° and the humidity is 100%. It'll be mostly cloudy with a high chance of showers and thunderstorms. The high will be 85° but will probably feel like 101°.

Looks like the weather today is gonna be a real pill. Well I take enough pills already. I hardly need another one. The weather warning is the standard one. Locally heavy rainfall...occasional lightning...and wind gusts up to thirty mph. Maybe I can use the time to clean up my work area. Not too clean though. A spotlessly clean work area could be interpreted as the sign of a sick mind. I may do some cosmetic work on some locos later.

Good morning, Diners.  I will have a large black coffee.  Chloe, are you settling in okay?

Larry and I will go to the fair to see how his paintings placed.  We wait until the last day so we can pick them up.

I plan to work on my car shop a little today.  Mostly, I think I will work on the doors.

Well, well

MOH and I BOTH have had headaches the past couple of days. I thought maybe due to some unreasonable weather. Now I don't know at all. They feel like tension headaches up the back of the neck. Odd for us to BOTH have the same kind of headache for the same time.

Went to wally world yesterday and wil go again tomorrow. Need to return stuff. BUT I spent what I am returning yesterday! That place is dangerous.

Pulmonologist asked about pets. We have one cat left. We don't plan on replacing him when he goes {he's 14}, but we aren't gonna get rid of him either.

I sure hope they don't find blood clots in my lungs. Not sure what they do about such things? But If I DO have them, that would explain why It is so hard for me to breathe sometimes. SO far the new med he put me on has NOT made a difference in ability to breathe. I think if anything it is worse!

Got the laundry all done yesterday except bedding. will wit til MOH goes to work today to do that {MOH in bed sleeping off headache?} I think I go join and the puddy tat too...

Well, prayer candle is lit for those in need...Angel

I sometimes get a bad headache in foul weather but nothing like what you get. A couple of Aleve usually knocks it out.

GALAXY: Do you have any gas appliances? Gas water heater? Gas furnace? Might be Carbon Monoxide (CO) getting to you.

Gooooooooooooooooooood Morning, bucket of coffee and a pile of bacon please 'n thank-you.

Well (still way down, the frogs and toads have been long gone), I'm not overly impressed with the "upgrades" around here. I kinda reminds me of this goofy iMac thing: a lot of fluff 'n stuff THAT looks cool and seems to serve no other purpose than..."looking cool." As the kids say: "what-EV-errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr."

Today is a rare day: no deeds to do, no promises to keep. There is so much I "could" do. But, when all is said and done, I might just listen to the race and drink beer.

Thoughts and prayers continue for those in need...worries abound for ULRICH, have a good safe day people!

Afternoon/Evening, Flo. I'll have a bowl of chili with some grated cheddar and some chopped onions on it, plus some cheesey fries and a RBF, please. Thank you!

Uh, I must be slow (and couldn't find it online...), Jeff - what does "a Greek in every crowd" mean?Huh? That's a new one for me.

Galaxy, hope your doctor gets your breathing back on track for you (pun only so-so intended...). AngelAngel And I'd agree with Chris about checking that it's not carbon monoxide behind your headaches. Air out the place extra if you need to.

Rob, sounds like your place keeps you quite busy just with the various chores around there. Get your sleep (as best you can, I know) and rest. Thumbs Up

Ken, you hit one of my pet peeves about pharmaceutical companies/the FDA - they don't put WHAT percentage of people in the trial studies had such-and-such symptom (which, IMHO, I think they should). I get people at my w**kplace who are just as reluctant as you are about "Am I going to have this side-effect?" - and from what I've heard, if you search through the enclosed literature for a given med, it won't tell you how often the symptom occurs (probably their lawyers said not to, to CYA...). Okay, Flo, you can put away the SoapBox now, I think I'm done. Maybe...

Ah, looks like we're learning French this week, eh, Bill? Smile, Wink & Grin (Well, if I'm lucky, I might recall one or two words from a past class of that...) Nope, Spanish now? (hmm, THAT would be another kettle of fish...)

Hey. Barry - is pinktutuman a regular vistor at your WallyWorld? I don't think our local W-M provides such entertainment (or else they do at some other time than when I'm there..). Clown

Sue, I'd love to see photos of your Shay once Larry gets it painted. I wouldn't mind finding one more Shay (MDC 2-truck, coal) myself to go with the one I have. Made an offer on one on d'Bay, but the guy's wanting about $150 for it (and will say only that it is "as is", not even if he's run it to be sure it can). He refused my offer (which was $20 over the price I last saw for the previous MDC Shay). If you see one up your way, please PM/email me so I can talk with the seller. I will need to have it regeared with NWSL gearing & stuff (as my other one was, locally), which means there is no way I can justify over $100 for the MDC Shay (plus the upgrade & DCC installation). But do let me know if you hear of one.

Todd - that the proverbial "beer budget with champagne tastes"? Got a couple of scrap 4X8 sheets you could use to w**k your way across the insulation area to the fan light (or leave down, as Dennis mentioned)? Might be cheaper than a doctor's bill. Stay safe, for sure (and make a potty-stop right before you head upstairs?). What's next after the bathroom, by the way? Whistling

Garry, hope you have a lot of fun (but not too much - no extra trips to an ER thereSurprise) and time visiting with your family. Thumbs Up

Ray, if your museum's RIT grad can restore the GE 45-tonner, he probably could get elected to President if he wanted to - good guy to have around the place! Bow

Still no news from Ulrich? Got me wondering 'bout that...Sigh

Hey, hey, Chris! Grumpy Easy there on Macs; some of us actually get productive w**k done with them (in my case, usually without having to use the new "Mountain Lion", which is stretching my patience somewhat... kinda like some of the changes in the forum? Hmm...)Whistling Hey, is that YOU up there on that red Geep?

Prayers for all those Diners in need of healing, comfort, and/or rest, or MIA. Take care of yourselves!

Blessings,

Jim in Cape G.

Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh! (limps into diner, collapses into soft booth seat....)  Evenin' folks!

Janie I'll have a bowl of bowl of french onion soup, followed by a petite med rare prime rib, baked potato, and a trip to the salad bar.  Just a decaf along with the meal to drink...

Ooooohhh man am I hurting tonight!  Logged on duty at 0830 this morning, on train at 0900, had a half hour for lunch and went back on train.  Logged off train at 1725 tonight and off duty at 1730.  Long day to be standing up watching passengers.  Great day out there, and a safe day, although I almost had two people fall getting off the Erie Caboose.  Both of them ignored what I told them to do getting off the car.  Of course if they had gotten hurt I'm sure somehow it would have been my fault for letting them ignore my directions......  Had at least 300 people riding today.  Perfect weather for it too.

Jim, Joe is serving his second term as Vice President at the museum.  He loves working on and leading projects and says he will throw his time to the LV Caboose project already underway.  The Operations Superintendent now was our past president who was a classmate of the VP at RIT.  We have about 6 or so recent RIT grads doing a wonderful job with the needs of the museum.  We hope the Model Train Club at RIT will continue to attract them to the 1/1 scale trains.  I have been invited to come over to RIT for an evening and talk to the Club Members about "Givens and Druthers" for starting a new layout.  They tend to be a great bunch of young people!

Joe (the VP) was grinning all day as 1941 pulled and pushed her caboose up and down the track.  He said he just hoped nothing went wrong with her today.  She served with no trouble.

Galaxy, hope your lungs clear quickly!  I'll third the check for CO poisoning.  Good thing to do any way you look at it.

Sitting here waiting to here from my son about how the DIL is doing.  Supposedly she was to be coming home from the Hospital today, but will have to go over for an EKG tomorrow.  Have no idea what time, etc.  If I haven't heard ion the next hour, I will call my son!

 Evening Dinners!

 Flo, Beer Please

Flip, you are right about the 15 inch tires! I work in a tire store and when someone wants 13 inch maybe 1 tire brand, 14 inch maybe 2 tire brands and 15 inch maybe if they are lucky 6 to pick from. All my old Mopar's have 14's on the front and 15 on the back. On my 68 Road Runner and 69 Charger I run 245 60 14 on the front and 275 60 15 on the rear. Seems BFG has stopped making there Radial TA's tires. Sigh

Electronic Cigarette Well it sort of works. I got the lowest nicotine I could get, 18 mg. It did help while I was at work, think I smoked around 6 real ones while I was at work today.  Right before I went to go home the battery died. I bought the cheap starter set and the only way I have to charge it is with my USB port on the Keyboard Thingie. Of course I can only charge it while I am on the computer.

Jan, thank you for the PM / Conversation or what ever the heck it is called now?

Hope to hear from Ulrich soon as the rest of you!

 See you Monday.

Jeff - what does "a Greek in every crowd" mean?Huh? That's a new one for me.

One that's opposite, stubborn while the rest were easy. Example: Seven of the lug nuts came off easily enough but the eighth had to be the Greek in the crowd and wouldn't come off.

I bet Ken has met tons of them.

Hey guys

Anyways been kinda busy or not in the mood to pop in.

Those 2 stewart/katos showed up earlier this week:

I bought them for the drives, still undecided on wether to sell the shells or strip them.

Jeff, seems almost as bad as some luck I've had with lug nuts. Have you ever broken any of the long-shanked variety before? I did once 2 hours from home (putting slick on my car) and 1 broke when installing them. Luckily it came off (in pieces) without too much effort. I pulled one out of the skinnies and just ran slicks in back with my "godzilla (a friends term because they are almost as big as his slicks)" street front tires.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
