Weeeell, the evil twin has nailed the super duper evil sister. She has gone thru the checkbook briefly and has debunked most of the claims she made about what she paid for by looking at checks written from MIL’s account to those very things. Problem is, some deposits that were to be made from funds Brenda gave in the form of a check written to MIL, are marked in the register as having been made from her and not Brenda. This was done to keep track of how much the estate owed to reimburse and that is what Brenda’s Mom wanted. Also she found a couple (so far) checks that have no record of being deposited…..in MIL’s account. They have been deposited or cashed as Brenda has the copies of the cleared checks. Funny I said, the two checks missing…., are the only two where there is a second endoser. Yup Super duper evil sister. Only two reasons I can think of off the top of my head THAT would have to be, and neither involves the check being deposited in the account which the payee owns.
Houston….we’re gonna need a bigger fan.

What is all that infernal noise outside...??? Oh the roofers are here. A whole army of them! They arrived about 5 minutes before 8AM and were removing the old roof by 5 minutes after 8. The new steel roofing is being stacked on the lawn as I type.
Zoe, just keep a pot of dark roast coffee going so I can sit and watch them w*rk! yes, Marrakesh Express would be great!
My poor kitties have gone into hiding under the bed for the day........

Good morning, Chloe. I haven't been in since Thursday, so I will have coffee in one of those GIANT NP mugs.
MrB, Ski season must be over because you are getting layout stuff done. Are you doing any ship models for your port? One of our friends that we do operations with has a barge that is movable. His intention is to hand carry the barge to a scene around the corner, reload it, and hand carry it back. It will hold 6 cars. It adds an interesting element to operations. Two of the guys working with him are master boat modelers. They are impressive with their skills.
We haven't done a lot on our layout. I have been working on a car shop. However, I ran out of scale lumber and need to place an order. The LHS that carried scale lumber closed, so my project came to a screeching halt. Larry started painting again. He is currently painting a steam train along the river for his sister.
I had a 3 day trip climbing at Smith Rock State Park in Oregon. We stayed with some friends who have a winter home on the road to Mt. Bachelor. Friday morning, they had the most perfect corn snow. It has been the best spring skiing in several years.
Can't wait to see you progress.

Got called into work early. I was looking forward to not going till 3:00 sort of. Go in at 12:00 now. Going to be a 9 hour day. But I need the OT, commissions so far this week stinks!
Jeffery I give the Trans Fluid a shoot, I have nothing to lose at this point, well maybe a decoder. Do you think it might quite the motor down?
Side note, I am running the other Dash 9 and it was running sweet. After about a hour, it started to pick turnouts. Hope the wheels just came out of gauge.

Just checking in have not been in for a while. Sill alive, been busy with work and having to deal with a death in the family. But all is well.
Good to see you MLC4.
Got two boxcars I'm working on today. One is a Con-Cor 65' double door Southern box. It needed some repair on one end, one of the coupler boxes needed to be reattached and it needed a little cosmetic work. It rolls very well and is now #9 in the string of cars on the layout. The other car is a LBF UP 50' boxcar. It needs to be weighted and have couplers installed. Think I'll save that one for a 'fall off the log' project.

Work was pretty busy today, but I managed to get out within 10 minutes of my scheduled time. I think that's a first. Didn't see Ashley when everyone was getting their checks and looking at the new schedule. I saw her best friend and asked her but she said she just recently changed numbers a few days ago. Her friend said she'd let me know. Strange situation with her, but it doesn't really affect work because the most we've ever worked together was a few hours. I guess I'm not used to girls asking me for my number and to hang out...
Moving on to trains, I went to the LHS after work for some .06 styrene sheet. They had no styrene sheet of any kind, but the girl at the counter ordered some for me. So I'll check back on Friday or Saturday. The seller of the Details Westt F-unit kits said they sent me the wrong ones, so they are going be sending me the right ones today. I'm gonna send the others back unless they tell me to keep them. USPS's tracker says my Kato SD40 and my 2 F7 shells will be here today. Only thing is the mailman doesn't come around here until about 4-4:30.

MoeLarryCurly4, good to see you back. Not gonna say anything myself, since it's been a few more days than I had hoped for between my last time here and today.
Weekend on-call was pretty good - no calls for the most part... until a bit after 1 a.m. today, and the LEO (no, not Broadway...) who had me paged knows better than to bother if the person is still drunk (hasn't sobered up). So I (re-)explained to him our protocol, and said I would inform the day shift at 8 a.m. to call the jail (when the person should be sober. Sheesh...). Once I get through tonight's on-call, I am OFF w**k for almost a week(!)
Have been doing some more on my resin structure kits. Got the Magnuson print shop/post office building put together, still need painting and weathering on that. Also have most of the walls up for the Main St. Heritage one (Moffat's Bookstore):

Have also been using my freebie trial on a genealogy site to track down more of my family history. (Nope, Todd, so far as I can tell, no horse thieves - or at least, none that got caught/convicted...) But I do have a fair bunch of my maternal grandfather's family that lived in, or were from, Illinois. On my Dad's side, a bunch were/are from the Nebraska plains (where it gets kind cool in the winter and they do occasionally get a snowdrift or two - that stuff that Barry and Johnboy and our other NOTB Diners just laugh at.
Not too surprising that I can take winter better than I can take August, eh?
Think I'll chill out (so to speak) at the window booth a bit.

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
Today I had to track down a loose connection in the Atlas U30EM645. This affords a rare glimpse under the hood. Atlas chassis, Proto Power West motor, cheap Bachmann decoder, no lights, lightboard or DCC socket. This loco is second in line behind an Atlas Trainmaster so all this baby needs is motor control.
My folks took my brother and I out to dinner for our curricular achievements. My brother has finished all his IB tests, and I had an A-B average in the last semester of college. We tried a new (to us) italian place, and after eating there; I don't think I'll be at the local olive garden much anymore. I had a bunch of mix-n-match pasta (all I could eat too) and the chicken parmesan my brother had has HUGE. I mean the chicken *** was as big as a whole chicken I get at the store. I only made it through 2 bowls of pasta, but my brother not only finished the chicken but ordered a side of pasta... Remind me how he's skinny?
Well the 2 other F7 shells showed up, so most of the building blocks for my F-units. The only one not present is the F9A I got off of ebay last night. the L&A F9A probably won't be used now that I have a correct and NIB stewart.
And my very first Kato (not Atlas/Kato) locomotive showed up:I must say, I'm impressed with this one. It looks good and performs very well, even compared to my newer Genesis and Atlas locomotives. I'm leaning towards making it a C&S unit that hasnt gotten the green paint yet. The numbers would still be the same.

Been an interesting day around here. The roofers showed up at 8AM, and drove off at 4:30PM and the roof is completely finished! Yep Jim, This company does your roof in one day! The owner said it night take two, but he may not have originally planned to have a dozen men doing it! They had the easy side done before lunch even. That includes removing all the layers of asphalt shingles and roofing felt that have been put down before, inspecting all the sublayment (a chunk had to be removed and repaired as I thought it would.... Rotted completely through), doing the repairs, putting down new felt, installing the steel roofing, and the trim. The rafters were all still sound which was one of my big worries..... They did a beautiful job of cleaning up scraps and have hauled all the old stuff off to the county landfill to help pollute our water supply sometime in the future!
Now all I have to do is meet once more with the roofer and hand over a check for the sum total..... Half way through the morning one of the Code inspectors for the city shows up.... He is an old friend of mine who once worked as a Boy Scout District Executive. He was not happy as the roofer had not gotten the permit yet!!! I talked with him and let him know I just signed for the project last Friday and they had a cancellation so could do the roof today.... I think the roofer had gone down to City Hall to file the permit after he got the crew working on the roof. Sure enough early afternoon the Code Inspector was back and posted the obligatory Permit sign in my window! Technically I'm not supposed to be in the house tonight as the final inspection and approval of the roof has not been done........ The guy did give me some information of another company which is currently putting in solar system in the city. He seemed to be impressed with what he has seen so far and suggested I check it out.... Close to calling it a night. The tree surgeon will be here tomorrow or Wednesday to take down the Blue Spruce in the front yard. He stopped in today and agreed with my reasoning and added that the tree is infested with a beetle whose grubs bore into the bark layer and that is what is causing the dead lower branches.... So I will be taking a preemptive strike to get it down before it takes out the electric, phone and cable lines or my brand new roof.....

Great looking roof!
I do have one suggestion since you are in snow country:
Snow tends to slide off metal roofs quite easily. If there is nothing to stop the snow from sliding you could get a nasty suprise if you step out of the front door and slam it. You could trigger an avalanch (sp?) when you close the door. Even if you don't get hit by it, it won't do the front porch any good. At our cottage in northern Ontario we installed a metal roof without the snow guards and the next spring we had to replace the vent stack for the composting toilet. It was torn completely off.
There are various devices designed to prevent the snow from sliding off en masse. I would suggest you speak to your roofer about them.

Work Front I was stunned when I showed up early! Dave acutely said "Thank You"! Met the new Services Writer. Really have no opinion yet, he has been with the company for 5 years and not much of a personally that I have seen so far.
Jeffery Far as over oiling, boy you are perching to the choir on that one! Pretty sure that is how I killed my PK 1 F 3 motors. Out of 6, only 2 are still running. Guess my problem is the clearances between the flywheel and the motor is so tight, I can not be sure I am getting oil on the shafts. So I over do it and mess up the brushes.
Jim Well that section is the part of my layout that looks like a 10 year old built it. Reason I have so many Santa Fe engines is 3 fold.
1 My grandfather house over looked the B&O yard in Washington Ind. I guess I was around 4 to 6 years old then. I got real excited when I saw a Warbonnet Engine pull in.
2 Just plain love the colors.
3 When I got started I bought a lot of the cheap Santa Fe Life Like engines. Reason being my wife would look at the colors only. If they where all the same color's, I must not have bought anymore train stuff! She finally caught on when I had around 10 engines and 60 rolling stock! But there was no stopping me at that point!

I am definitely of the same opinion as Dave.
You must install snow and ice guards over your doors and preferably your doors and windows as well.
They look like upside down rakes and they keep the snow and ice from breaking your neck when you step out and someone slams the door. OR, the ice piles up and the next shot of it goes through your window.
It's a must have and get your contractor on board before you sign off and pass the check. It won't be much more.

Not much special going on today. Full day of w**k day and in between “shifts”, gotta mow the back yard and continue with the cleanup. They extended the burning until Thursday so I have the last pile drying. Pulled some Rhubarb yesterday. Not gonna be very good crop. Lots of stalks but all spindly. I didn’t split the plants like I should have last year. Actually two or three years ago. Too many stalks trying to grow at once. Oh well.
Good morning from New England. Coffee and mixed fruit, once again, please. Yeah, eggs and bacon taste great, but they leave me feeling "ballasted" in the morning. Mixed fruit is a tasty, light alternative for those of us on the wrong side of our "ideal weight."

Since we got back from Italy, we've had trouble thinking about local Italian eateries, too. I've never been anywhere that offered such consistently excellent food, every day, in every hole-in-the-wall restaurant we tried. We're cooking better food ourselves, though, somehow not being able to sink back into the rut we were in before the trip.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Zoe, I'll have the Eggs Benedict and a few cups of dark roast coffee. Oh, yes the Seneca Lake Dark Roast Blend is my favorite. Put it in the R&GV RR Mug please.

With everything going on here, I haven't even been down in the train rooms for several days. Should do some laundry today, so i will use THAT as an excuse to do a bit of stuff down there.
Currently 67°F outside here in the Finger Lakes Region with an expected high only in the low 70s. May be some scattered thunderstorms later today as well.
