Curt .. Yes, it was me (on the Bobcat). The snake was the one in the tub. It was about 3 to 4 feet long. The machine is rough riding and I was a bit slouched own in the picture because of that.
Renting the machine Saturday until Monday morning costs only one day's rent because the rental place is not open Sundays. I'll be outside most of today, too.

Jeff- I remember some of that better than thou stuff as I came aboard long about the time the real heckling was winding down. I do remember getting several, well not directed at me, lessons in the definitions of certain terms. I’m sure you’ve been “reminded” of the definition of th word “Model” in “model railroading” on several occasions.
And then there was the big “It’s not bashing…..it’s “critiqueing” “ debates that I think we all got suckered in to at one point or another. Glad that's all over.
Welp, mostly outside stuff today for me. We’ll see how the in-laws fair today. Hopefully well. I hate that bickering stuff.

Near a cornfield in Indiana...
We had another good day railfanning early this afternoon on Norfolk Southern's main line in Leetsdale, PA. In two hours we saw 11 trains. Well, 10 trains and a move of 12 locomotives headed toward Conway Yard. It was made up of 1 Dash 8, 1 SD60, 1 ES40DC and 7 Dash 9's. I'm hoping to catch one of the new Heritage Units one of these days. I understand that the PRR was returned to Conway the other day after repairs in Altoona. I think the Conrail unit is assigned to Conway Yard as well. The photo isn't very good as I was shooting into the sun, but it's better than nothing. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Tom

Wow its a hot one here today, pushing 90 out there. I have spent the last 4 days out getting the garden together and I look like a tomato,lol and am a bit on the sore side I can only imagine what some people look like that weren't wearing sun screen. My neighbor's back is so red that I can only imagine how uncomfortable he's going to feel later on tonight.
So I called it a day in the sun and came in grabbed a shower and turned the Central air on. Want to paint the handrails on a Conrail GP7 and a CP SD40-2 later on, still debating on whether I want to go back out into the heat and throw some burgs on the BBQ.
Jeremy: Glad to hear you're having a nice day there way up north. It's 86 on the outside here. I have it 69 in the trailer. Think I'm going out if I don't have to?
AMTK 184 just went past my window, marking the last of the Heritage units I hadn't seen in person. Including the Acela and Amtrak California colors, I've seen everything Amtrak has ever used, livery-wise. Except a Pepsi can and I don't think any of those are left anyhow. So close.
Not sure what that Amtrak California unit was doing in Virginia...
That is a comfy temp Jeff, the central air unit has been on now for a little while and its at about 73. Might turn it off soon as its a nice temp at the moment. The basement is cold,lol

Afternoon guys
Work was CRAZY busy. I got out about half an hour late. Did I mention the A/C is cutting in and out? Talk about hot, I think I lost a good gallon of sweat.
I did a little more on the F-unit project. I've measured the thickness styrene I need to fill in the door gaps in the 2 F9s. Looks like I need to get some 1/16th" styrene sheets and some body filler. I've cut a sheet of .02" styrene to fit in behind the doors. I think that is thin enough that it won't interfere with how the shell fits. I looked at the 4 DW detail kits I got, it was supposed to be 2 A-units and 2 B-units. I got 4 A-unit kits. The pictures and description on ebay said otherwise. I'll try to get that resolved in a bit.

Every muscle in my body hurts I think... Actually it is mostly my feet! I wore the new sneakers out at the Museum all day, and by the end of the day, I could barely stand! Put my old ones on for the evening and they feel a bit better now.
Had a great day out there! Beautiful, sunny, and hot! Since I was the first person there I grabbed the freshly painted Erie C254 caboose for the day. We had a good but not great turnout for opening day. Everything went smoothly. Only injury was a little boy who I had just told to hang on to the railing as he climbed aboard. he completely ignored me and tripped on the top step and came down on his knees on the steel grating on the porch of the caboose. He got up crying but was OK.
Tomorrow the roofers should be here to start the new roof..... I can't wait!

I received some need parts from BLI to get my PCM Big Boy up and running again! Got them for free because they are using my repair tip on fixing PCM (maybe others) Y6-b's. Now all I have to have is some free time to do it.
Getting ready to test the Athearn RTR Dash 9 and see if it is truly of the RIP track.

Jeffery Do you use ATF on motor bearings?
My Athearn Ready To Junk is still making bearing sounds, well to my ears. I lubed the shafts with Atlas motor oil but the noise is still there. What do you think of trying gear lube? Like to get a few more hours out of it before I replaces the motor.

I may be young, but I'm worn out. After work, I helped my folks move fruniture around, washed their cars, helped make the barbeque for dinner and a few other things. So work from 6am-2pm, then do house work from about 3-8pm. 14 hours of work, man I am tired. It gets even better though, I'm breaking out with hives....
I would have gone to bed by now, but I'm watching somethings on ebay. I'm finding more parts to get from bowser (so far 3 sideframes, detail parts for 2 trucks, side window glass for an F9A and an F9B) so maybe that $10 shipping may wind up being a bit less ridiculous. I'll wait until I have 4 chassis for my Fs. I have 2, and may have a third later tonight. IDK if I should go for 2 powered and 2 dummies, or 3 powered and 1 dummy. I'm leaning towards that later, but I think that the former will still pull a decent sized train.

It's time for me to call it a night. I got the NEW YORK CENTRAL F3B patched for the L&A, installed Kadee couplers on the GP35 in a pair of cut-down coupler boxes from a Proto 2000 FA1 and not much else. The numbness that's been effecting the left side of my neck and face for some months seems to have spread to my left arm and leg and adds a new wrinkle to working on things. There's no pain involved and very little decrease of mobility but a definite decrease of sensation. Could be a compressed disk in my neck is giving me a problem, could be my nerve damage spreading or it could be something new. I'll have to keep tabs on it and see.See y'all tomorrow.

My persistance held out long enough to see some ebay auctions to the end. Got an undec stewart F9A (with 2 headlights and DBs, appropriate for BN), 2 walthers GSC flats (1 ATSF, the other Soo Line), and an Atlas EV caboose (In Cotton Belt). The cars will be built as per their respective prototypes and be placed into service. I really was only intrested in the drive on that F9A, but having a correct shell is a bonus. Dunno what I'll do with the L&A F9A shell now. The Atlas EV caboose will be re-done as a BN caboose (Likely painted and decaled at the same time as the trio of NE12s). Best part is all of that cost about 60 bucks, 40 of it for the loco. Not to shabby I think.
Best part is I only need 1 more stewart chassis and some parts to have all the building blocks of my F-unit project; and I'm still in it for less than 100 bucks.
Jeff, After looking up heat rash, I don't think it was heat rash. It was on the exposed portion of my arms. I took some anti-hestimines and it seems to be subsiding.
Speaking of not replying properly, I am still waiting for a "Thank You" for the LEDs I sent you. You are obviously a busy guy, what with the girls falling all over you and all of your recent purchases, but I am a very old fashioned kind of guy. When someone does something nice for you my understanding of the correct response is to say a simple "thank you". "Awesome" just doesn't cut it with us old farts.
In order to put my post in context for the rest of you, I sent Vincent some LEDs, resistors and wire because I thought he indicated in his posts that he was in need of these things to further his modeling projects, which apparently he was. I thought that funds were an issue because he was a student, but apparently that is not the case. His response to my offer to send the gratis LEDs was "awesome". That does not equal "thank you" in my books.
Am I out of date here guys (and gals)? Am I too sensitive?

The money from that recent ebay binge has gone dry, and as a result my train budget has been depleted for a bit. I'm going to add to it at a rate of about 20 bucks a week.
Dave, I though I said "awesome, thanks" in one of the PMs, granted it was when you offered not after they arrived. Looks like the timing of that was bad and I'm sorry I didn't say anything after recieving them. Thanks a bunch for doing that. The only reason I'm kind of on an ebay binge is because I got about $800 of unexpected money in the form of my tax return and getting cash value for the vacation time I never used at my job.
