Didn't feel like cooking tonight, went to Burger King got to go couple Whopper Jrs and onion rings. that was dinner after almost nothing today. handful peanuts and one Bud Lite. Body aching back cramping. Drive was relaxing. Alternator working great. Lights brighten and dim with charge/idle cycles. Didn't happen when old belt was on slipping when charging.

Talked with my father about mothers condition. No news. Just home from work, in much same condition as me, tired too.

This plimpdoddleslop aphasia kicking my butt, hard to think, remember words, reread sentences several times deleting nonsense hoping what left make sense. Mine recurs, little/no warning from fever or bumping head hard. Aggravating. Could last days, months, years. Hope days. If leave unedited sentence word overflow might be not understood. Doing best possibly can. Patience please. Speech/hearing effected.

Atlas SD27J and Bachmann GP38-2 paired together wired for permanent mu simple consist, play well together. Atlas U30M-R-EM-645 having pickup problem rear truck. Kato type drive hate working on those.

Good night. See all tomorrow.

Evenin' Folks!

Janie, just a decaf please.  I'll go sit in the back by the stove.  Going to get a freeze again tonight.

According to the newspaper tonight the local fruit crop should be OK.  About 30% of blossoms on some of the fruit trees have been affected, but they always trim off about 30% of the new fruit anyway to get the tree to produce higher quality (larger) fruit.  Tonight's frost should not be too bad.  just under freezing and only for a couple hours.....

Had a Boy Scout Commissioner's meeting before Roundtable to attend tonight.  The Council Commissioner was there to hear reports on all the units from us.  I had to report that one of my 2 units is in its death throes!  Most likely will not be renewing next fall.  Lucky the other one while not as strong a unit (Venture Crew) as I would like seems to be holding its own and may even be growing.

Got home from Roundtable and found a message from an old Dear Friend of mine from when I first started teaching here in Geneva.  She and her husband were both members of the Martin Luther King Committee when I first got roped into being on the committee (they were one of reasons I said yes to joining it).  She was the Home/School Adviser for the district for many years.  You don't show up to school and they don't know why, she will be knocking at your door to find out why!  First time I met her, I was sure she was putting me on....  I asked her her name and she said......  "Magnolia,  Magnolia Flowers".....  I had to pinch myself not to start roaring and was glad I didn't as that is her name!  Became good friends when the Middle School had a picnic out on the lake at the home of one of our science faculty.  We ended up out by the lake with a huge bonfire.  Bunch of people started signing songs which soon became focused on Black American Spirituals....  Maggy and I started improvising and having a great time.  She decided I was alright on the spot.  Haven't seen her in well over a 15 years as she and her husband moved back down to South Carolina where they were raised after retirement.  Every once in a while we chat by phone.  Yacked for close to an hour!  The lady is one in a million and I am honored to be friends with her and her husband.  They both must be in their 80s by now.

Jeff, hope your mom recovers well and get back to being her old ornery self!

Have a great night!

Did run a few trains for a short while and now I am off to the F--T sack to get some ZZZZzzzzssss as I am back to work in the morning.

Hope you all have a great sleep.

Morning All,

Slept in late today (9 AM), usually up at 8 on my off days. Going to run to the LHS, then MOH wants me to hookup the new wireless printerLaugh. That's a good one. I will give it a try but I'm sure she will end up doing it. Technology is not my friend.

Jef and  Barry- Hope your Mother and friend are doing better today.

I will see you all later.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, just a raisin bran muffin w/ real butter and a cup of dark roast coffee for me.

Dark, gloomy morning here in the Finger Lakes at the moment. Currently 36°F with a predicted high around 44° later this afternoon.

Have to visit the barber today.  Gotta get looking good before Easter you know.  Don't want to scare the Easter Bunny!  Depending on the weather I hope to get more wood split from the pile that has been sitting in one of my driveways all winter.  Need to get it done so nobody complains about the pile.  Will be giving away some speaker monitor stands to a freind who directs and plays in a local Jazz orchestra (yep, big band).  he is also a model railroader, so I'm sure he will check oput the progress down cellar while he is here.

Need to at least vacume the place before he comes over.  Right now I'm embarrassed to have anyone see the place.

Jeffrey, hope your Mom is doing better and the aphasia doesn't get any worse!

Later!

Hello everybody

Working on my warehouse for my Grain Co-op. Its has to be grafted to the rest of the Elevator so a little bit of planing and kitbashing needs to be done. Last night I had the elevator on the dinner table and my older brother accedentaly knocked the scratchbuilt elevator leg/pipes so I have to put  that back together.

Well back to building and listening to Music Headphones

 Chilly Thursday To You.

 Flo, coffee please.

High today 57 degrees. While not cold, after all the mid 80's day's we have had it does seem pretty cool. Wife turned on the heat this morning.

Watching Band of Brothers and selling tires is starting to effect my dreams! Last night I had a dream that I was in WWII and was trying to find some LT 265/ 70/ 17 tires? Whistling

With some luck I may have 3 days off in a row! My normal days off are Friday and Saturday, we will be closed Sunday for Easter. Could I be that lucky?

Jeffery, hope your Mon is getting better.

Curt, nothing wrong with having a Chevy.

Can't remember words drop small words mix up words make long sometimes nonsence sentences, have hard time telling words righ wrong. Special schools today not hard finding. Back 60s hard finding one. Family members understand wait while get sentences together.

Afternoon,

Since we are in Florida this month I went out and took a couple of pic's of my home town station (now a small museum). It used to be on the ACL route.

Jeff- I would expect your Mother to be in the  Hospital at least 2-3 days. I sure hope she continues to improve.

Evening All,

Flo could I have a cup of coffee please.

Well I tried connecting the new printer. Does anyone want to guess how it went?Dunce MOH had everything completed in about 30 minutes. I know I started it or herWhistling

Went to the LHS and found a Walther's gondola that will work and ordered 2 more, Each hold 6 DD-1's (LCL). Lee Bow was kind enough to cast the containers and paint them for me. I tried decaling them but the decals are so small I couldn't do it. I may try rub on decals at some point to see if  I can do that. LeeBow also cast stacks of wood and junk gondola loads for me.

Chris- I will have to go back and take photos of the truck. Sorry I wasn't thinking about that at the time.

Prayers for all those in need.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf and a seat by the stove.  I am chilled a bit tonight....

I figured out that what I thought was some allergies is most likely a virus of some kind....  Tossed and turned and couldn't sleep for a couple nights with a dry cough.  Thought it might be asthma.  Last night I slept pretty well, but was up 5 times visiting the little room at the end of the hall and every time I got up I was drenched in sweat.  Blood sugar has been up a bit as well for the last 3 days.  Took my temperature this morning after breakfast and sure enough...  Low grade fever.

So I pretty much just laid low today except for splitting one more wheelbarrow of wood and vacuuming the dining room/office rug didn't do much.  Should have gotten my haircut and gotten my allergy shot today, but both can wait until tomorrow.

I started another left hand turnout tonight just to pass a little time in the train room.

Hope each of you has a great evening!

Happy Easter folks...

I've been installing fascia boards on my layout today.

Whilst tidying up the top of the layout I noticed about 6 trees have shrunk in size. It appears something has eaten the foam on the trees. Has anyone had that happen before?

I plan to make approx 1 dozen trees today to plant on the river module. I may even start ballasting the track. I've also decided I will ballast the yard tracks with cinders and also put a few small shrubs etc and will most likely install a small profile blue backdrop mainly for when I take photos on the module.

I will add a photo later on.

Back to the layout.

Good Morning!

Ken - it must be around 1 am in your neck of the woods. Boy, if I stay up that late (or early), I´d be dead next morning!

It is Good Friday today, and all is calm and quiet outside. Temperatures fell to - 4C last night, so that might be a reason.

Stay safe!

Good morning. It's 59° and clear. The high will be 78° and it'll be partly cloudy.

Woke up with a headache but the cloud in my head is gone. To give some perspective so you can understand, my aphasia started in 1962 after a bout with meningitis caused significant damage to parts of the brain. My speech and hearing were both significantly effected. My hearing was and still is scrambled. That's never changed. The issues affecting my speech and writing lasted until 1977 then just went away for twenty-three years. In 1984 the speech and writing problems returned for a short period then just vanished again. In 2000 another recurrence that lasted a week. Seven years in the clear then another short recurrence then five more years in the clear. That brings us to 2012 when as you know another recurrence took place. It may be over, I don't know. I hope it is. You have no idea what kind of hell this is. I don't mind telling about this because it's in my records available for anyone to see.

Now, plans for today include working on the SD27J. It still needs two air tanks and there's a part right behind the cab that's missing. I'll have to scratch-build that too. Front handrails are gone, nothing I can do about that. I also need to replace the couplers on the U30EM645. It has those plastic knuckle things that are good for nothing but causing nightmares, uncouplings and derailments!
