Hi Ulrich, Hey Curt.

Two thunder-boomers came through tonight. Spent the second one with Storm Cat out on the front screened porch and enjoyed the show. All clear.

Have a good night all.

Hello Fellow Dinners, where ever we are?

 Flo, Beer Please.

Well I am pretty much Discussed with the ways thing are going at work! I have not quite a job for years, but this one is getting me close!

Cut my hair, only comment from Dave was "its about time, you have to next week to trim your beard or I am going to cut it for you"!  My beard at it longest is may be a 1/4 inch?

Satins Spawn Larry, while walking pass him (don't know if he saw me coming) said to Dave, " now if we could get rid of the person up front (sales desk) that messes up the work orders we be in good shape". Far as I know, I am not messing up tickets but he smiled when he saw me.

There are other things I could go into, but it is late. We closed at 7:00 PM but did not get the last one done till 9:15 plus I had to train a new victim on how to close. Did not get out the door till 9:45 PM.

Good Morning,

I was not really awake when I moved the Diner to its April position, so I forgot to mention, where we are this month. I thought it´d be nice to enjoy some fairer weather, so we are now in Parrish, FL, touring the Florida Railroad Museum.

Have a good day & stay safe!

Bongiorno!  This unusual greeting comes to you from Florence, Italy.  We're vacationing here.  The weather and the scenery are just beautiful.  No trains yet, but we will probably be taking a trip down to Naples and Pompeii later this week.

I could sure use a cup of American coffee, though....

Good Morning,

Jim, that is a good reason to do 20+ years in the military, the medical insurance is actually pretty good.  I’m not overly impressed with the dental insurance but it’s better than nothing.  After all I’ve been through this year I’ve only had about $600 out of pocket expenses.  I still think anyone “practicing medicine” or practicing law” shouldn’t receive so much money until they learn enough that they don’t have to “practice” on me….

Curt, anchoring isn’t as easy as it sounds especially if you have the wrong anchor for the bottom type.  I’ve been to almost every island in the Caribbean and Grand Cayman was nice.  I thought it was better than the ABC islands or PR.  You couldn’t pay me enough to go back to Jamaica.

Ulrich, I hope you continue to show improvement.  I’m off to see a specialist about my parathyroid issues as soon as insurance approves it.  I continue to follow the 6-month experiment my urologists set up for me.  A pile of vitamins and special diet that is basically don’t eat anything really healthy and limit my intake of fruits and vegetables.  I lost 7 pounds in the first month by sitting on my bottom watching TV or playing with trains.  My MD said not to worry until I lost 50 pounds then we needed to chat again…

Lee - 50 lbs. is quite a lot. Imagine a stack of 100 packs of butter. In Germany, butter is sold in 1/2 lbs. packs...

Right now, I still have problems to move around. Each move hurts quite a bit. Grumpy

Good morning. It's 68°F and cloudy with fog becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon. The high will be 88°F.

No set plans for today. I may work on some locos later. My really BIG six axle locos that liked my old layout (even the 18" radius curves) don't like the new layout. That's OK. I have some smaller locos that are in need of decoders and seeing as the big ones won't be needing theirs, well, you know how that goes. If you hear a pair of SDP40F's screaming for help as their decoders are being ripped out just ignore it. They're just seeking attention.

Woops, looks like I posted the same time as Urlich, so I got left at the old location.

On the bright side, Florida is nice, bit crowded from spring break, but still...

Now back to your regular scheduled post.

Powerlifting- My school has an option where you can choose between 3 different types of gym classes, an athletic performance class or powerlifting.

As for scores, I placed 8th in bench 180 pounds, and third in deadlift with 400 pounds lifted.

Morning All,

Flo I would love a cup of coffee please. The darn animals woke me at 5:30 this morning scratching in our bedroom. This was followed by a call  from work asking if I wanted to come in for OT. Since I am already getting paid today (time trade) that would have me working for free...not happening.

I'm going to do some electrical layout work today. The yard right now has power coming in through 1 track to 9 tracks. It works OK but if you throw a switch to a different direction it kills the power to the original lead downstream of the switch. Not my favorite job doing power leads but it needs done.

Well I got my new work schedule for May-Sept and it is exactly the same as I work now. It was my 9th choice. Not real happy about it.

Lee- The reason I mentioned the anchoring was because these guys anchor their boat 2 times a day for just about every day. While in the Navy one of the subs I was on had  anchoring issues 3 different times. The last time we were practicing outside of Pearl and we couldn't lift it so we had divers come out and tie a lead to it and we winched it up on deck using a capstan and entered port that way.MOH thought that was pretty funny Sigh.

Ulrich- I am ashamedEmbarrassed to say I never knew about the FL museum. It looks like it is only open on Sat and Sun so I am going to try to get there the weekend of the 21st. It is about 2 hours from where I live. I will take lots of pictures when I go.

Everyone take care of yourself.

Good Morning!! Coffee and….you know what? Not really hungry right now, so just coffee. Thanks.

Sunny, with a high near 86. Southwest wind between 7 and 11 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Welp, I did it. I took down the layout and sold all the stuff for 7 dollars in change. Mostly quarters. APRIL FOOLS!!!!! Come on guys. I can’t even find the thing let alone get to it to take it down.Laugh

Ok seriously. Me an Squatchy my Bigfoot were talking and decided…HAH!! Got you again!Laugh

Oh you guys are too easy. (chuckle)

Anyway, mowed more of the yard again yesterday but ran out of bags againSigh. I’m bagging because if I don’t there will be so much grass on the ground the grass will die out. I could rake it up, but I tried that last time and didn’t get around to getting it all due to other things coming up and it was not real good so I figure this time I’ll just do the bag thing and take the time. Better in the long run. I will get the last part done today, then mow the yard again because the front needs it again. I see a perpetual mowing month going on here.

Went to the Chinese buffet last night, got my favorite waitress againYes. This time her name was Susan.Hmm I asked her, well pointed to the name on the ticket, and she smiled and said “yes, Susan” I said I thought it was Nancy. She smiled and said…”yes. Nancy”Tongue Tied I’m gonna learn Chinese today so by Wednesday if I get there, I’ll know how to ask her name. Easier that way. Funny thing I was finishing my ice cream and my third Dotta Peppa ( she must think I’m dehydrated) and I noticed she was standing by my side holding the bill tray. She was looking at the buffet and I saw she was looking at Brenda who was up there talking to a friend of hers. She looked down and made a couple hesitant moves to set the bill down and then looked back at Brenda. She finally set the bill down in the middle of the table when she noticed I was looking at her. Didn't seem to really want to though. This is the one who always gives the bill to Brenda. I laugh about it, Brenda doesn’t seem to find it quite as amusing because she too has watched her and noticed she doesn’t give it to any other woman. She either sets it in the middle or closer to the man. Except Brenda. Then thanks me.Laugh I mentioned taking her home with us again.Black Eye Didn’t go over well. She said “you can’t even figure out what her name is. Next time it’ll be Cathy or something" .....”yes, Cathy” Laugh Ah the simple things in life are what makes it worth living. She is a very nice person and works hard. Funny to see her push the bus cart that’s twice her size. Has to really lean in to it to get it moving, but she gets it done. Stay out of her way though, not sure she could stop it too quick if at all. Surprise

We have both Cottonmouths and Copperheads here, I don’t care what the experts say. However a Copperhead is and always has been a very rare site. Very rare. Mybe they are on vacation too. A Water Moccosin is not too common to see but if you hang around the rivers and less populated lakes you will see them. Not in abundance, but you will. Luckily their venom isn’t all that horrible unless you’re a small child or a mouse. The Copperhead has been way over rated in it’s toxicity, which I guess is way less than our big bad cottonmouth, as long as I can remember. Local legends I suppose. Being as how you hardly ever see one makes them badder I guess. Still all in all I’d not want to get bit by either one.

Welp, best get doing something even if it’s wrong.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Well, it looks like the SDP40F's (my two biggest six axle locos) will keep their decoders after all. I put them on the layout for a final chance to redeem themselves after their deplorable performance of a couple of weeks ago and they've decided to play ball. They've been running the entire route around the layout for nearly an hour now without a single problem and that's even pushing a train backyards at high speed without so much as a hiccup. Considering the rough state of my track there's something to be said for that. Miraculous might be the word. There's been some minor track work between then and now, mostly clearing out some excess ballast and dealing with a set of turnout points that were sitting too high. That little bit must have made all the difference. I got some of the run on video too. SDP40F run.

Got these two shots of the SDP40F's. Both have Athearn blue box shells. The lead unit is on an Athearn blue box  chassis that was rebuilt to RTR using the motor, drive parts and wheels from an Athearn AC4400. The trailing unit is on a cut down Proto 2000 E6 chassis. Both have Digitrax DZ125 Z Scale decoders and are speed matched and permanently mu'd. You'll never see one without the other.

Happy April 1st, everybody.

The visit is going well for the most part. I took the 10 year old grand daughter fishing on the dock. Unfortunately, some uncontrolled teenagers were running their jet skis at full throttle in our bay making fishing impossible. Grrr .... We'll try again later. Early evening should be a good time.

Mr. B .... Nice of you to check in from Italy. We'll have to have Italian food here this evening to celebrate.

Jeff ... I said you use Z scale decoders. Any problems with them in large HO locomotives?

I've had very few problems with them. The SDP40F is the largest loco I have. It's bigger than an SD40-2, on the order of an E unit.

Here's a shot of the interior of the lead unit. The small red thing above the rear flywheel is the decoder.

Afternoon folks!

Just popping in to see what is going on.  I could use a nice cup of hot chocolate, Chloe.  Thank You!

TMarsh

Anyway, mowed more of the yard again yesterday but ran out of bags againSigh. I’m bagging because if I don’t there will be so much grass on the ground the grass will die out.

THAT is why I don't bag up the clippings.  Just leave them right on the lawn in hopes......

I keep thinking of more things to do with the Powerhouse by the quarry.  Now I think I will scratch build a water tower for it.  After all those boilers need to have a good constant water supply!  I have put on various styles of vents on the roofs, and drain screens where the downspouts are and stone covering the flat roof (Well two of the three. The other will get done after I build the water tower).

Have any of you used the WS foam roadbed?  If you have, what kind of glues have you used.  I need to use something a bit more robust than the somewhat sticky, pull apart easy stuff sold by WS.  I prefer putting down the ties with Pliobond.  I'm thinking it might eat right through the roadbed material.  Looks like the cork isn't going to be around for a while as the company that makes it can't find usable cork to import for it..... Sigh

Catch you all later!

Columbian coffee in a SUNNY SOUTHERN mug, please.

***Jeffrey, enjoyed the video. It's nice to get a broader feel for your layout.Yes

Need to order a few tubes of oil paint, and discovered they also sell Scenic Accents Glue. So, added one of those for setting more of the little folks on the (HO) layout.

Taking a day of rest here.
