Mint tea, please.

My neighbor up the hill called as she always does when these kinds of storms are about. We're each others "search and rescue", worse case scenario. The first cell is past, no damage here. Have almost 50 minutes before the next red blob hits. Wearing my shoes with an emergency napsack at the head of the stairs in case there is a need to duck into the basement. It's the old eagle scout in me: "Be Prepared!"

Hope everyone is OK out there!

Evening All,

It's been a good MRR'ing day today. I decided to give the electrical problem another try this morning, so armed with a volt meter and a jumper wire with alligator clips I determined the issue and fixed it. It required removing and reinstalling a 6 inch section of track that I had isolated and solder power leads on it. Viola...it worked several times each possible way a loco could go through without issue. The reason I consider this is important is that this is the first electrical problem that I have trouble shot and fixed on my own.

After that I went grocery shopping at Wally World where there were cashiers with no customers (hard to believe) I came home installed 4 ground throws and rusted the track. Tomorrow I plan on ballasting the track wile MOH is attending a quilting clinic.

I also finished the 3rd AMB kit tonight. I posted pictures in WPF.

I'm glad Ken wasn't effected by the tornadoes, but am saying prayers for the families that have lost everything including loved ones.

Inch- Good luck dealing with SS.

Todd- Your DR table story reminds me of one. We were putting new carpet in the spare bedroom (our junk room) and the DR table was overloaded and the runners underneath the table broke under the weight. MOH wasAngry to say the least. I ended up screwing 2x4's under the table which works but the table does not expand nowWhistling

Have a good night and prayers for those in need.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me at the moment.  I'll be in the back keeping warm.

I was just about ready to start supper tonight when my son called ans asked what I was doing.  He was cooking Tilapia and wanted to know if I wanted to come over for supper.  I never turn down an offer like that so I had a nice dinner there.  Today I did the unthinkable....  I canceled my TV part of the cable service.  What will I replace it with?  Why, nothing at all!!! Big Smile  haven't watched for over 10 years, why should I start now?  It will save me $70 a month not to have it hooked, and If I should absolutely need to see commercials, there are certainly enough right here on the internet!  I will be keeping my internet service and telephone with them.

I even got some hobby stuff done today.  Completed and installed some "Iron" downspouts for the flat roofs on the powerhouse.  Painted them flat black after making them, then rusted them up a bit with some weathering powders:

Then installed them:

Need to go back and correct one that is a bit too high, but I think they work even if they are grossly oversized.........  These are a scale 9" wide and the prototype are only about 6"....  Yes, I know I am a rivet counter.Sad

Have a great night, and a safe night everyone!  Those of you in the path of bad storms are in my prayers tonight.  Prayers for those who have lost so much in the tornadoes earlier today!

 Evening Fellow Dinners!

First let me say Thank You for all that where worried about me! And Angel payers for the poor souls that live in Marysville Ind.

Flo, Beer please, and a round for the house!

Reason I am in such a good mood? Larry went BOOM! Yes Seems our company has deiced that there Area Supervisors need to run shops besides running there area. (still don't understand there thinking) So Dave is now the shop manager. He is all so digging through all the old tickets to see what I Was The Larry has done crooked. While Larry still has a job, he was mumbling I don't need this poop Laugh most of the day! Yes

He all so had two complaint customers today! One had brakes installed 3 weeks a go and they have called corporate, way to go Larry!

His new sales woman? Well she was not there today, seems I Was The Larry has start her with out any approval from the Corporation or taking her drug test. Smile, Wink & Grin

So it looks like the shop will not be Larry's World and I am The Larry, will just be plain old Larry. His rain of Evil is over.

Only possible down side for me is I could pretty much work as much over time I wanted. Dave will more than likely will watch the hours I work and not let me get the OT I was getting. That will hurt with my base pay being only $300.00 week for 40 hours.

It may well be worth it not to hear I Was The Larry hit on the female customers and him telling them about his Chopper! Laugh

 See you all Saturday!

Ken: I was wondering what that mushroom cloud over your area was. Must have been the Larry going ka-boom!

Ray: Great work on the powerhouse!

Couldn't sleep so I've been watching some old movies and some How It's Made show, mostly ones dealing with railroad products. Also changed the dressing and wrapping on my foot instead of waiting until later this morning. A dressing and wrapping with proper cleaning and antibiotic lasts three days. Still it doesn't hurt if it's changed a few hours earlier or later unless it starts hurting a lot. That indicates something is amiss and needs tending to.

Tall glass of cool water, please.

***Ray, excellent work!Yes

***Ken, you sound relieved. Without I Was The Larry, whose feet will you bow down to and worship there? Kidding aside, your job will be more enjoyable now.

Tornado siren went off once last night. No damage. Not so for folks elsewhere. Will walk the farm later to check for any new downed trees or branches on fences. Don't expect to find any.

Have a good day all.

G'd Morning Guys and Gals,

This question pops up from time to time but nothing ever changes.

The posting in question is indeed a real one,  posted by our good friend Bill Tidler Jr. from Tipton Ind.

He is always one of the early postings of the day, always raises his cup to us and fills us in on the weather down his way.

I have seen him reply to other posts but not very often.  He is in that somewhat gray area between a poster and a lurker, but leans more toward a poster.  We are glad to have him on board with us, but we do wish he would speak up more often and a little louder for those of us that are somewhat hearing impaired.

The big question at present is >>> How close is Tipton to Marysville Ind. ?  Hopefully not on the flight path of that Tornado.

Hope all is well with you there Bill......................

Actually, no. The greeting is the same but most days I post a picture (RR related) but sometimes I don't so it's just the greeting. If you would pay attention (which, apparently you have not) you would see that I post at different times (with different pics) which would tell you (which, apparently, it did not) that it isn't automated.

If my postings cause you such distress and grievous harm, I suggest that you ignore them or report them to the moderator.

As for not posting in other threads, I prefer to read and learn and go by the old saying "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." We have enough here who do not follow that wise saying so I see no need to add to to the folly.

Have a nice day!

Galaxy has not stated exactly where we are.  I will look for a train theme location.

Later,  Sue

Sue- perhaps since i am less than familiar with the area of the Pacific Northwest, YOU could be a "guide" to train hot spots in  the Washington, Orgeon, and even  Idaho and Montana?

Perhaps we could start here with the "Spirit Of Washington Dinner Train" in Renton:

http://spirit-of-washington-dinner-train.visit-seattle.com/

Or perhaps a visit in Snoqualmie to the Northwest Railway Museum:

http://trainmuseum.org/   {we cannot get in regretably until APRIL 1, but we can nose around the website for info!}

and we can pop over here and nose around:

http://steamtrainride.com/

All for starters!!!

Have a Great day y'all!!

Aw, quit pickin' on the guy.

It used to be a sometimes "race" between him and me to get the first posting welcoming the new day. He has been doing it for a long time and I sometimes do beat him to it, but now I post when I get up and get around to it, rather than the first minute I get up in the wee hours of the morning.

He doesn't really change his post much, but it is there and signifies a new day has arrived in the diner.

I change my post wording a bit so it isn't "boring" to others [or myself}, AND I was requested a long time ago to put day and date in my morning post so some could notice what day is was and know the date as well. I always try to wish everyone a good day for the coming day in some sort of manner, and often inject a little humor, depending on the day's events, celebrations or happenings.

As Bill said, if you don't like his posts {or mine} you don't have to read them.

Have a GReat day and enjoy it as you see fit, Mr TA462.

I dont think TA462 is picking on anybody, hes just stating that it seems like the same thing is said every morning with little variation . He didnt say anything mean at all, just asked a question and got jumped on for it.

Perhaps you should re-read what I said in reply to "TA462". I didn't "jump' on him in any way. I, simply, explained what I do and told him what he could do to solve his apparent problem with it. Also, I did not call him 'idiotic" or "stupid" which he used to refer to me.

On the other hand, if you find anything objectionable in my reply to him please feel free to use the "abuse" report function of this forum to report it.

Morning All,

I notice there as been excitement in the diner already today. Only plans today are to ballast the new track and go to my club later. MOH is at a class until 2 PM so quality ballasting time for me. The next 4 days are supposed to cool down to mid 70's F.

Ken- I'm glad the Larry reign is over.

Ray- Very nice modeling.

Rob- Glad the storms missed you too.

Everyone take care of yourselves.

Thanks for the concern. All is OK here in beautiful downtown Tipton. Marysville is in extreme southern Indiana. I am about 30 miles north from Indianapolis on the old NKP (LE&W) main where it crossed the old NKP (LE&W) IMC line (Indpls. to Michigan City).

Good morning. It's 50° and cloudy. The high is due to be 60° and it'll be partly cloudy this afternoon. There's a 30% chance of rain this morning.

Nothing special going on today. I'll be off to town soon to do the second half of the grocery shopping.

Hi Jeff

I see in your one pic that you use the loctite super glue gel, I love the stuff but noticed the other day that my bottle looks frosty on the outside like it might have leaked some, but it didnt. Have you seen this on any of the bottles you get?

Good morning, Chloe.  Coffee, please.  Lots of chit chat since yesterday.

Bill,  I missed your depot photo this morning.

Galaxy,  Yes,  I will try to find a good location.  This time of year,  most things are closed.

Ray,  I do way too many hobbies and activities.  Life is not boring.  That is why I have trouble finishing things.  Back to the car shop.

Operations session this afternoon.  I am undecided on signing up to dispatch or operate an extra.  I will probably make that decision at the last minute.

Good Morning!! Coffee and biscuits and gravy please. Thanks

Partly sunny, with a high near 40.

I wish I had a mini track hoe. OOOPS! Sorry. I mean excavator. Last time that word was used, the forum got it’s panties in a bunch.

Jim- Glad you’re doing…. as well as can be expected I guess. As far as not telling Brenda about me lazing out…no need. She already knows. Boy do I know she knows because she has made it rather clear that she knowsWhistling. Cabinets come in Monday. Vacation over. Or so I’m told. As for the Menard’s, I prefer them over Lowe’s. Not that I have anything against Lowe’s, but Menard’s does seem to have lower prices on comparable items of the same brand. Is the Menard’s very close to Lowe’s? Usually the build real close to each other. Many times even just across the street. They seem to compliment each other oddly enough. Menard’s picks up Lowe’s customers and vice versa. I do it myself if say Menard’s doesn’t have what I’m looking for then usually Lowe’s does. Usually. W**ks out well. I prefer Lowe’s for the tols as the sell DeWalt and they sell John Deere now. But for other items, I usually go to Menard’s. Maybe because Menard’s was here first and I’m just kinda sticking with them and I know the store layout better. Don’t know.

Yup, Jeff has thrown a hankerin for an Airstream in Toddland ( of which I’m King) somewhere. I think it would look good all dulled up and sitting somewhere in the woods being used as a hou….wait. That sounds familiar.Wink

Ken- Well, if he SAYS he’s cheatin, that’s a different story. Must not be a secret.

Ok, heart just settled down from the Marysville being wiped out thing. Though I’m not glad about those in Indiana, I’m veeeery relieved it’s not Ken’s Maryville. Prayers for all hit by the disaster.

Ray- Power house is looking great. I thought the downspouts looked a bit large, HOLY COW!!! 3 INCHES?! Quick call the RC police… give up that seat busterLaugh. Aw calm down Vinnie. He knows I’m just teasing him. But, with a flat roof they could be larger than normal if the don’t use as many. Just a justification thought for your RC side.

Welp, fooled around long enough, gotta get ready to….oh who am I kidding.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Mornin, Janie could I have an irish coffee and a short stack please. Suppose ta be mostly sunny, high close to 40 and real breezy today.

G-son’s team won last night, so they finished the year 3’rd. Ollie took 1 ref out for awhile, when he went for a ball blocked out of bounds. Ref was in the way, Ollie still knock the ball back in, but he hit the ref in the place, that guys don’t like being hit in, ref left the floor, again. Every-one was sure happy after that [even most on the other side].

ROB,,,,,, that hail was nickel n quarter size here, bout 10 mile S they had ping pong ball n bigger. There’s some windows that have to be replaced and a lot of roof damage.

JIM[CG],,,,,,,,, yep, still got G-kids 24-7, most doing great, got a couple we’re kinda worried bout. Jbirds J.R.A. She had a couple mornings this week; mom had to help her out of bed. And Tank, he’s got Bronchitis again, and may in up in the hospital, for treatment.

KEN,,, looks like you got this round with Larry anyway.

BILL,,, I stand with you, if’en I needs to on your morning posting and not much to say. There is times where the less is said, The better the conversation. AS for ME, I enjoy the different pics you post some morns

Thanks for the best wish dealing with the S.S., but if I lose it for a spell, we’ll manage, while tryin not to complain too much [unlike some others], in the same way we always have for many a year [guess we cume from good stock]. As my Gr-granddad said, “in hard times ya have 2 choices. Wonder round with yur head up yur backside in the dark, feelin sorry fur yourself. Or ya can grab holds of both ear n pull yur head out, so ya kin see where H--L yur going”. He didn’t say it exactly that way, he was, ah, er, not P.C. by todays standards and neither am I at times.

Best gets round, thought prayers for all those in need, n hope ya’ll has a gooden.

Galaxy,  Yes,  I will try to find a good location.  This time of year,  most things are closed.

Sue

SUE, we know most things are closed this tiem of year. If I pick a location, though, we just pretend it is open.

I try to provide links to a museum's or  vintage train running's website so others can peruse their info and "imagine" they are there or can "go there" in their minds.

Searching the net for pics we can legally use here can also be done of the vintage train runnings.

Otherwise, we would be "cooped up" in the southern states all winter in HOPES they are running trains, and "cooped up" in the northern states or across the border for all summer months. I found that even in the south of Texas and across the far south they don't tend to run trains during winter either. so imagination is the key.

I just thought you might have toured more or the train sites in the area than I could find listed, or know of a  special feature of one of the sites.

Thanks for your help!

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have the #2 special, over easy on the eggs, home fries, bacon, and a double order of sour dough toast.  What?  No THAT is not the same as I always have, I changed the order of the order this time....  So there!  Yes I want a cup of dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug.  Some things never change...WhistlingSmile, Wink & Grin

Spring has officially arrived here in the Finger Lakes!  Saw my first pair of Robins outside in my lawn!  Probably got blown here from the mid west yesterday.  We are still supposed to have some high winds here today (no tornadoes hopefully) with gust up to 50 mph.

I will be spending part of this afternoon viewing what I'm told is a great On30 layout that has agreed to be open for our NMRA Division Spring Meet.  He will getting a free Railpass (6 month membership) from us both to cover him with the NMRA insurance, and as a gift for opening up his layout for us.  It is supposed to very large and exquisitely done.  I'm sure I will enjoy this afternoon.

Glad to see most of our patrons have checked in after yesterday's storms.  Glad you are safe if not sound....!  Ken, that is some good news.  Hopefully you will will now be given the credit for the sales which were stolen from you.  Thumbs Up

Have a great day everyone!  Catch you later.  Oh, and Bill, keep on posting!  I enjoy your photos very much.  Nice we have someone who just keeps us company in here!

Good Afternoon Gang!

It´s more like evening, the sun is slowly setting. It has been a sunny day, but I was busy getting my papers ready and sending out the first couple of applications. Job application procedures in the US and Canada are very much different from what they are here, and I want my application to be A1. You never get a second chance on a first impression ... Whistling

Aside from working on my papers, I even found a little MRRing time. Built a small console to hold the Kato power pack, which is not really meant to be a hand-held throttle.

 The thing looks like this:

Needs a dab of paint, but that has to wait until my financial situation is cleared up.

Some more layout shots:

Not the best pictures, but without a tripod I have to use the flash ... Whistling

Enjoy your day!
