Beautiful sunney day but cold 60.

Andrew Bripart (don't know how to spell his name) died today at 43. He was a conserative blogger and political activist that I greatly admired. Terrable news to me, the other side hated him of coarse.

I see I got the top so I'll buy. .

1. 60 is cold? I can't wait for it to be 50

2. 43 is sure young. I feel sorry for his family. He did a lot for journalism for in this country. Angel

3. Well if you're buying... Laura I'll have one of everything, with baconBig Smile

As for me i just finneshed my first Gn15 car. its just asmall bulkhead flat made out of a HO truck(slightly modified) and some basswood with and two coupler boxes of a junky hopper. I hope to get a HO docksider to build a Gn15 loco for my birthday in april

Ahhhh, the beautiful Pacific Northwest.  Brings back memories.  In 1982 when the kids were young we travelled to Vancouver BC through the northern states.  Our last stop south of the border was at a campground in North Bend, WA.  Beautiful place.  There was a gigantic fern that actually overhung the roof of our trailer and shaded it.  We encountered trees so big around that with the two kids and myself linking hands we couldn't get our arms around them.  We encountered lots of very large slugs on the campground roads.  They grossed out our daughter completely.  When we left the next morning it was pouring rain and the trailer hitch got jammed on the car crooked.  I was soaked to the skin by the time I got it back on properly.  Then it was through Seattle (in the morning rush hour!) and across the border at Sumas.  That campground was like being in a tropical rain forest.  It sure was beautiful.  I think I"m going to enjoy this trip.

Good Evening Gang!

I have been in the doldrums all day long, which certainly does me no good. I have to accept the fact, that I won´t be able to get a job anywhere near my qualification, or even way below, here in Germany. That laeves me with two options. Either try to settle in with the situation to live on the basis of hand-outs, or try my luck somewhere else. You know me that option # 1 is no option for me, so I will, instead of wasting my time in search for a job here, double up the effort to find a job far away from this ( expletive, deleted) country. I´ll be turning 56 years in summer, so that should not be to old to start anew. First of all, I need to improve my health, which should work out, once my spirits are getting better. Most of my "misery" is a mental thing, not a physical issue. The second item on the list  is to squeeze the Internet again and again, to collect information on opportunities and to develop contacts, which may be of help in the venue of emigrating from Germany. There is hardly anything or anybody keeping me here, only my son. But who knows, he may even join us later on.

Since this month´s Diner is located in the Pacific Northwest, this may not be a bad place to look into. Maybe a little further north, NOB, so to speak, or even a lot further east and north, who knows. I´ll be revamping my documents in the next days. I am sure there will be an employer who would like to add my experience and knowledge to his/her team.

2012 will be the year of change! Promised!

I have oftfen wondered what you would have to do to get a working visa in the USA to seek employment enjoyment here! SInce you have an excellent command of the English language, working here should be no problem for you!

And YES, you deserve a year of positive change!

Let us Know if we can be of some asssistance to you in your search over here...I am sure someone will reach out to help...though many CEOs, CFOs, COOs and CCOs and COO-COOS have lost their jobs as well, and middle management has been curtailed, I think you might have 50 at least 48 States fo possible chances here! AND with your Knowing of Europe I think would help you in your search!

think Positive thoughts..if you put out positive vibes to the universe, it might just come back to you rather quickly!!!!

Did some shopping this AM. Went to see MOH's new store, very nice! will give another chain a fgood run for it's money! Ate at Denny's, which may be our last for awhile with the hours cut MOH is experieincing. Seems the Dept. manager may have it in for MOH. Especialy since MOH has connections further up the chain over her head! We shall see what we shall see when we see it.

Tired now and back hurting...will rest for awhile!

Whistling

ULRICH,  for your information,  The Saskatchewan Provincial Government and about 20 employers are on a personnel seeking visit to Ireland right now.  There are just all kinds of jobs here right now and not enough manpower / womanpower to fill the void.  The only drawback to it is housing. But they are busy erecting houses and  apartments all over the Province to accommodate this increase.   They are hoping to fill about 230 positions on this trip, and this will just be the first group of many.  These are Mgt,  Skilled Labor and Laborers. Check on 'www.Saskjobs.ca'

Br. Elias,    HHHhhmmm... a monk with a Lady friend,    just kidding Brother.

TERRY,  I feel for you, those are the kind of winter scenes that we normally have, but not this year.

ROB,  I worry about you.   When you go to do the critter rounds and other chores do you carry a cell phone with you ,just in case ?   You should be able to contact someone quick if you encounter a problem.

CURT,  big improvement on that corner, it is coming along great.

Garry & Cape Jim and others in the line of fire,  hope you all missed the damage by that Big Blow.

The closest it got to my Son was Branson, (35 miles) although he said he had seed pods off the trees that were hitting his roof that sounded like machine gun fire pretty well all night.

Well my shoulder and neck feel somewhat better, but now I have come down with a wicked head cold that wants to slip into my chest.  Really feel shitty.   Some week this has been.

Spent some time last night trying to wire my reverse loop.  It should be simple,  I am using an Atlas Controller which is pretty straight forward, but it doesn't want to power the loop.  If I get feeling a little better I will tackle that again today.

Nice spot this Western Washington, if it wasn't as wet I could stay here I think.   Thanks for the move GALAXY.  Hope you are feeling some better as well,  and that those hours come back for your Better Half.

Has anyone heard from Bama, or Cajun Chef. ?

I have slept most of the morning and just typing this has made me tired again.  So I'm out of here.

Prayers and blessing to all in need.

How about a ride in the North Coast Limited towards the Pacific Northwest.........

Ulrich ... Best of luck to you. Keep your spirits up, too!

Johnboy .... We had a lot of hail in the storm, and the bait shop was flooded. Nice weather today.

When our 2 year old grandson was here  few weeks ago, we took him to the local fire station for a tour. He loved it.

Italian Roast coffee in a SUNNY SOUTHERN mug, please.

Storms were not bad in my neck of the woods. Can't say the same for those folks who lost their lives in other parts of the country.

I forget, someone asked if I carry a cell phone out on the farm. Nope! If something so bad happens that I cannot crawl up to the house, then I'm ready to go.

Will be in the corner booth awhile. Cowboy Rob

36f and cloudy, but "they" say we're supposed to see almost 50f next week! That'll melt a bunch of this snow!

Speaking of, got the truck shoveled out. Also got the snowplow boogers cleaned up at the end of the driveway. What a mess! Still need to do the porch where it blew in.

Very cool pic, Garry! I've only got 3 NP engines, an SD40 and 2 F units. wish I had more!! They seem to be tough to find for me. Have plenty of GN and CB&Q's and enough BN's. I model 1972 after the merger so's I CAN run them all!! LOL!

Nice Airstream, Jeff!

Curt's moving right along, I see!

Waaaay better attitude, Ulrich! The diner above has it right! Positive outlook'll do wonders! We lost a house at the beginning of the housing thingy. 2004. Lost  a business, too, due to partners that drank and gambled. Course, everything was in my name because I had AAA credit.I sold everything I had, including my baby, an '86 Corvette, to pay my Subcontractors. MOH was extremely worried we'd be homeless. Scrimped/saved , bought 5 acres and I built her dream house.Construction is up/down here, but we are doing ok. My point is that when it seems like the end of the line, look for that turnout you might've missed. It's there.Take it! ( and pick better business partners!) Starting fresh can be very gratifying.

My older  brother (ex-Marine,Gabe!!) lives in Aloha, Oregon. Are we close? Maybe I could visit him!

Installed a couple CI ground throws and dull-coated the roads. We'll see if that tones down the shine a bit. Next I'd like to replace the grade crossings in Sarona. Removed the drywall mud that was there and going to use thin for sale sign styrene like the other x-ings. Seems the trains go over that ALOT better. I'd like to order some ballast and scenery stuff but I gotta figure out how to get it past the Mrs.! Lol!!

That's about it!

Got the bills paid. Before going to town I went to my parents place and reimbursed my father for paying the car insurance and electric bill. Electric bill for last month was $52. I then helped him move a power chair transport rack from their garage to his tractor shed. He wanted to move it on a dolly but proved to be too cumbersome and kept falling off. I came up with the idea of getting his tractor and trailer and loading it in the trailer. Took both of us to get it in. That mother is heavy! Neither of us is supposed to lift loads like that but it had to be done. Got it over to the tractor shed and parked it there. He'll have my brother-in-law and one of his friends carry it into the shed later. Lifting it once was enough for him! That's also a bit out of my range. Lifting is one thing, carrying is something else. It's a major job just getting the groceries from the van to my home.

Garry,  Great shot of the grandson.

 After Noon Fellow Dinners!

 Flo Beer Please!

Larry World / Work Front. As we all know, Larry has no Moral's. Well he is cheating on his wife, I heard him tell her that he had to work till 9:00 PM Wednesday, he left at 4:00 PM. Hum, what can you say. He has added a new twist, He Is Hitting On Are Female Customers Now Including The Married One's! Laugh Boy that is going to blow up in his faces!

But, it even gets better! He is cheating the ones he is hitting on! Yes Case in point, woman that he tried to take for a ride on his Chopper has been a long time customer. He told her she need tires (and a ride on his chopper) She said she bought her tires from us not that long ago and wanted to know if the new tires would be prorated, he said he could not find any records on are computer and sold her the new tires at full cost.

Now I heard him hit on her, but not about the tires being bought from us. When I cashed her out she asked me about her records? Not knowing what had went on, I found her old records and printed them out for her. She asked about the Prorate and told her she have to take it up with I am The Larry Thursday! Now I am The Larry may be able to wiggle out of this one, but it will catch up with him!

Next, the new hired help! Remember when I told you about the girl that I am The Larry hired and quit the next day? Well I meet the new sale woman / girl yesterday that I am The Larry hired! She is a dead ringer for the first one he hired! If I did not know any different I would swear they where the same person! I will add both looked better suited to be a waitress at Hooter's than selling tires. Now don't get me wrong, there is no reason a 5'4" Buxom (think that is the right word), Burnett  20 year old female cannot sale tires! But give me a break! I sure bet he did not hire them because of there sale back ground! Whistling If they did not look like twins, well maybe.

So the way I look at it with I am The Larry greed and thinking with his small head and not his big head it is just a matter of time before he self destructs and goes Boom! Smile I just hope to be around to enjoy the show!

It would be nice if that snap, pop and fizzle was caught on video. I enjoy seeing a good keelhauling, especially when it's someone I intensely dislike. I have no love for a thief and Larry looks to fit the bill. Any chance of there being a strategically placed candid camera? Wouldn't you just love to be a fly on the wall in the bosses office!

Evenin' folks!

Chloe, I'll have the New York Strip Steak with a baked potato and a trip the salad bar to start with tonight, and a cup of fresh brewed decaf as well....  I'll be in the back both getting warm.

Well, Ken, just make sure you stay out of the line of fire!  I don't mean THAT figuratively either.Whistling  Guy sure ain't no Eagle Scout I guess, (or if he is somebody better tell national so they can pull it)!

I spent much of the day running errands.  Made an appointment for my hearing test(s) to get new hearing aids.  THAT will occupy an afternoon later this month.  I kept trying to call the place and got a message to leave a message....  Went to the website and they have a "To talk to an Audiologist cal 866 -XXX-XXXX.  No thanks, I think as that usually means you get a "Harohh, Ha areu?"  On the other end from some 15¢ per hour person over in the very far...  Or some, "if you are calling to hear advertisements, please press 1 now...."  Turns out you get the receptionist at one of their two offices. So when i got my allergy shot, I walked down about 200 feet to where the audiologist's office is and made the appointment in person, face to face, with a real live human being.   BTW, I had already spent a half hour trying to call Rite Aid Pharmacy to refill a couple Rx's.  You have to sit and listen to some advertising (mostly about how you can get your flu shot at any time there and protect yourself and your loved ones from the harmful effects of having the ..........................), later they give you the for another ad press 1 now.  I really hate telephones!!!  Also made a bank run to deposit some $$$ in the MLK Account, and a couple other places.  Finally I stopped and got gas.....  You know, I like my little Yaris more and more.... Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh

I am now going to return to the cellar and do a few hobby items with all my spare time!

Later!

Our 'train nut' friend's grandmother passed away yesterday. Thoughts and prayers for her passing, please.Angel  SHe was 95 years young and ready to go. is brother adn a hospice agent was there when she passed while he was "indisposed"at the time. He will miss her sorely.

WEnt to see MOH's new store. Really impressive and larger than it looks! It wil give another local chain a run for its money!

The manager is cutting to skeleton crew which will backfire on him if he is nto carefull. The new store may bring increased revenues which will look good, but will also require mroe personelle to run!

Went to Sam's club and man, that plain concrete floor is murder on my back!!! Good thing we got in, got what we wanted, and got out!

Well, I feel like i have posted this already, but maybe its just that i thought I did. OPld timers disease, you know.

GARRY- Great looking grandson. Handsome fella.

Jeff-Thankyou for the reply.

Curt- Thankyou for your reply. [ Lion, you can "ROAR" in anytime] The reason I asked ,re-EMT and PARAMEDIC, at dialysis, a patient had an episode, four nurses were working on him and they called 9-1-1. The first responders got there in a fire truck. Two men came in and worked on the man and five minutes later an ambulance pulled up,and two more men came in. They calmed him down, put onto gurney and went to the hospital.

How close to Sue are we?  Do we have to climb a mountain to reach her???

Just about time to get a shower and go beddyby    Prayers and Blessings to all.

Oh,doggone. Forgot to tell youuns how great your layouts are. To those who can and do, Thanks for sharing.

Went to the parents place for dinner today. It started as stew, many things were added and ended up as General Sherman's Breakfast. Onions and homemade cornbread. Delicious!

Evening All,

Had a good day today. I went up to Flip's hobby shop. I really enjoyed myself. He had a wide selection, a lot of Pennsy loco's and very knowledgeable. We talked for about 15 minutes about layouts, DCC, and sound loco's. The shop was busy with a lot of regulars (very good sign). I bought a PRR stock car kit, a sedan for the layout, and some couplers. I got home and  was authorized by MOH to buy a Atlas RS-1 (been looking at it for months) and I will take it to Jon (owner) to install sound in it. After getting home I built the kit and built one of the AMB kits.

Garry- Great modeling. I am always impressed when I see your layout.

Lion- I really like the track shots.

Galaxy- Prayers for your friends family on their Grandmothers passing.

Sue- You were right. It was enjoyable to build a kit that actually fit together well. I did  put a different sign on the front.

Everybody have a good night and prayers for those in need.

Good morning. It's 72° and cloudy. The high will be 82° with a 20% chance of rain in the morning and 40% in the afternoon.

Looks like a slight chance of showers this morning followed by showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Glad I'm not doing anything outside today. No plans for layout work.

Morning All,

Not much planned for today other than grocery shopping and building a larger AMB kit. After signing off last night I built a large shack (lack of better name) that I think will become the coal trestle office instead of the plastic box car office I have now. I will take pics later.

Everyone take care.

Mornin, an irish coffee please Zoe, no dear I’m not in the best of moods n haven’t for a couple day. Tried to post in here yesterday and the site would let me. I’d get a post wrote out, hit the button and writing disappears. Tried it 4-5 times, said the heck with it.

Talked to JERRY, both are doing ok, Sally’s still having some problems. They didn’t get the bigger place they were thinking bout the rent ended up to high, so their still on Pearl St. Jerry’s been workin on the RR and runnin trains. And yes I told him there’s a windy city dog drug through the garden n plenty of RBF’s waiting here.

TODD,,,,,,, train show n swap meet is next weekend at the mall in Mattoon, bout a 2 hour ur so drive for ya. Jerry thought him and his son may go up Sat. Don’t know when me n Mothers goin up yet.

TERRY,,,,, my G-son is already at Ft Bragg, training. Don’t know what unit he’s in or how long he’s going to be there. The last I talked with him, he was still processing in.

LION,,,, I be one of those “Unlike them Air Farce people”. And dam proud of it.

KEN,,,,,,, small head + small mind = ends up in big pile doo-doo

I got a letter in the mail the 28’th from S.S. that my disability is under review and to fill out a bunch of papers and return by Mar 1’st, [it was mailed on the 22’nd] and if I don’t return it, I get shut off. Tried to call them n tell’em, “it ain’t happenin folks”, after I pressed one for English, I got please leave message”. Then call the doc offices to get some info I need, their busy “can you call back tomorrow”.

So bout 9 yesterday I started back with phone calls, beat head against wall, get writer cramps, but I think I got it done, maybe not right, but done. If they decide I can still work, then I start all over again. The last time took 3 year.

I did finally got a call back from S.S. [after2 more messages]. They gave me another 10 days and said I could just mail it back, rather than find a ride to the Terre Haute office. I told her I’d find a ride and hand deliver it. DIL is taking me over this morning.

The info they wanted is doc visits, hospital stays an such for the last year, which is the best I’d had in a spell. No hospital stays and not many doc visits. If they just go by that, then I can ah, well as the girl at VA records ask “do you remember how to drop’em, bend over, smile n cough”.

Other than a trip to Terre Haute, not much planned, maybe I play choo-choos, till this evening, G-son’s last B-ball game in Paris, a stop at Kroger afterwards

Thoughts n prayers for those in need n Hope ya’ll has a gooden

Good Morning!! Coffee and scrambled eggs and….wait. On second thought, I’ll have eggs Benedict please. Thanks.

Showers and thunderstorms likely before 3pm, then a chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 55.

I guess I have been in this neck of the woods. But I really don’t count several times I’ve been to Sea-Tac. Pretty much just sat in the airport the whole time waiting for the Freedom Bird to take me to the magic land of Kimshee. I don’t recall even going outside…..hm. Had too. I smoke. Odd I wouldn’t remember that.

Whoa, whoa, whoa….Ken- I’m not upset, so don’t get me wrong. And usually if it looks like a skunk and smells like a skunk it’s probably a skunk, but accusing someone of an affair or cheating is dangerous. I’ve been on the receiving end of THAT and I tell you it’s not fun. Sure all the signs are there, they were for me too I admit (though I wouldn’t say I “hit” on another woman) but still. I used to be late sometimes and I still am. I do have a couple of girl friends I am fairly close to and I guess sometimes you could get the wrong impression. My disappear time was spent at a bar with friends and accuantences and yes I kinda kept my wife in the dark, but not for cheating purposes, for “me time” reasons. Brenda did not understand the need for some away from you time. She felt that meant I lost interest in her so I couldn’t say what or where. She would stick with me like a lost pup. In hindsight it should have been a discussion, but it wasn’t and that was my mistake. Some folks who new part of it kinda helped my wife “see” what was going on and of course their suspisions were wrong. THAT was a while getting out of that but the damage was done and now, Brenda knows where I am almost at all times. And yes I do have my free time, but she knows where I am. My point is, I know you’re upset with the guy, but be careful on certain accusations. No this isn’t a chewing out, but if not true, it can actually backfire on you. At any rate, the flirting with customers and the staff that he is supervising or has seniority with some power over is wrong and should be dealt with appropriately. Just be careful of the cheating word. Just friendly advice. Observe caution.

Floor Wars Williamsville: Phase….I lost track - Got the call yesterday. Cabinets can be picked up Monday. Once I get those installed, the dining room and table can be emptied into the cabinets and we can resume some semblance of normality. Though normality for us is…, the table is a flat spot and therefore becomes a strategic drop zone for anything to be set down to the point it gets so full it’s unusable. So it’s not really a matter of getting the table cleared off as much as making room for different stuff on the table. Same with the kitchen counter.

Oh! Thunder. Storms are to the south of us. Supposed to stay there and nothing severe predicted for here, but still I think I’ll power down the communicator to the world now just in case.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!
