ULRICH!!!!

Welcome back buddy, sorry for your temporary stay in hospital.

Everyone here was concerned about you and asking after you.

We are glad to hear you are among the living!

Hope that temporary paralysis gets worked out....are you doing any physical therapy?

Typing by one finger only can take some time...so we will not pester you too much, just every day a few times a day!

Glad you are back!

Italian Roast coffee in a COPPER BASIN RAILROAD mug, please.

***Ulrich, welcome back and please stop testing your guardian angel like that. Hope you recover completely with no further issues.

***Ken, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY"

***Garry, wonderful layout pic.

Had a bad episode of sleep apnea last night, at least one I remember. Even the Cpap machine doesn't counter a severe case like mine. Then woke up later with left arm completely numb, like some dead thing hanging there. Ick! All is well now though, just exhausted as usual. Will be in the corner booth awhile. Mmm, good coffee!

It is good to have Ulrich back again. His guardian lion must have really been working overtime.

Ok, the mend is in, and hope to see you around more. Still fretting about work? we'll set the LEOPARDS on that one, they ought to be able to scare something up.

Ulrich: Great to see you again! Why are you picking on that poor sink? Just kidding. I'm familiar with blackouts. I had three or four last year due to my diabetes and I've already had one this year, so I know where you're coming from on that. Good to hear the paralysis went away quickly for the most part. I've had partial paralysis of the hands and feet for many years now and I know how infuriating it can be. I've managed to work around the limitations and have been able to do some fair modeling and I've become a rather fast typist even using just three fingers, two on the left and one on the right. Believe me, there's hardly any situation the human spirit can't top.

Anata no subete ni subarashī asa!

Zoe, I'll have the.....

ULRICH!!!  Your back!  You sure had all us scared sir.  Hope the paralysis goes away quickly and you can get the sink replaced....  You are lucky to have Petra at your side.  I often wonder what would happen to me if something like that was to happen...........  Good to have you back in here!  Your meals are on me for the rest of the month.

Oh thanks for the coffee Zoe.  How about a couple of those Bavarian Creme Donuts to celebrate Ulrich's return?

I need to get cleaning my house today and also go over to church to see what still needs to be done to hook up the new sound system for the Social Hall.  Tomorrow I will at an operating session at an NMRA member's house in Penfield, NY.  You may have seen some of his layout as it has been featured in NCE ads at times.  His scenery is amazing!

Seems there was more i wanted to say to some of you, but I'll have to look up what it was....  Old Timers Disease I think.

Best get moving!

Thanks, folks, for all the kind words and your thoughts and prayers! It is such a comforting thought , knowing that there are people out there who care.

While in hospital, they ran a series of checks on me, again. All those fancy machines need to be fed. My blackouts appear to have no physical cause, just my body telling me that this is not the kind of life I should lead.

I need to retire - got a terrible headache Dead

Good morning. It's 56° and cloudy. The high will be 65° and it'll be mostly cloudy. Wind is from the north at ten to twenty mph.

Didn't get a chance to do it yesterday so today I'll see if I can get the U25C decaled. Also have some more cleaning to do on the layout, just picking stuff up and putting it away. Went with my father yesterday to get the gas cans for the tractors filled. That was about $62 for eighteen gallons plus he got both tanks on his truck filled. That's been a long time for that to happen. It's been in my nephew's possession for so long for repairs that he almost forgot what it looked like. But the exhaust system has been replaced, including replacing the manifolds which were both badly cracked, the piston rings were replaced and the top of the engine rebuilt (heads reworked, valves cleaned, two weak lifters replaced), injectors replaced, throttlebody serviced, several sensors replaced, ECM replaced, brakes redone. All that was done for the cost of replacing the exhaust system. My nephew did most of the work himself. That's a lot of work to put into a twenty year old Ford 150 but my father has the habit of hanging onto a truck until it absolutely can't be repaired. Cars are a different story. He'll buy, sell and trade them like he changes shirts.

Why all the Balloons? I hate Balloons! Oh, there for Ulrich, then that is OK!

Flo, cup of Coffee and bowl of Frosted Flakes please.

Thank You for all the Birthday Wishes! They mean something to me! Guess the best present I will get is Ulrich being back!

Simon I will be off this Sunday and Monday at this point, but things could change. If you and the Lads could come over Sunday, I will make sure I am off.

Plans for my Birthday. Have a lot to do and none of is what I call fun at this point. Main thing I have to get done is go to the county court house and file the paper work from IDEA filed. That is the next step to getting Bank Of Stupid off my butt! There Blood Suckers (lawyers) have sent me paper work stating they are starting Foreclosure on the house.

With working 6 days straight, trash has really built up, so a trash run is a must! Then I have to take Sue to the store to get some more food and med's. Next stop is the library so Sue can get some stuff she ordered. Might stop by K-10 as well. Then cut up a limb that fell on to the back patio.

Next will be returning a call from Gary, owner of Calvert Express. If there is a job with Gary, I am taking it! At this point I do not see a future where I am working, or should I say it is going to happen as soon as I need it to.

Well I will see you all later, save me some Cake if you can.

Howdy.

Ulrich, of course we all care about you. We were getting very worried, and we are glad to see you in the DIner again. It is sad, however, to learn about your blacking out and your 8-days in the hospital. Were you attempting to simulate the Japanese earthquake? Question  ........... We pray the doctors can solve the problem, and you can quickly recover. Meanwhile, with your typing with one finger, we do not expect to see a Russian novel from you. Perhaps, it would be good to have somebody contact us if you ever have a similar problem (hoping it never happens agin, though.).

Ken .... It's good to see you are having a good birthday celebration. (except the blood suckers of course). We have a relative who is having major problems with BofA, too. This started with one of those mortgages from Countrywide Finance., and it's a huge mess.

SImon..... We're glad you are back with us in the DIner. Please visit more often.

Where is JimCG?

Rob, Curt, and Sue .... Thanks for the comments..... Curt, the WPF picture was taken like I always do except the train was moving.

Still busy with non-MRR stuff but hope to work on layout late today.

Happy Model Railroading !

Afternoon!

Chloe. I'll have a turkey club sandwich with one of those giant dill pickles and a cup of decaf for lunch.  I'll go sit in the back booth and get warm for a bit.

OH!  I know what I wanted to say earlier....  Ahem...  OK everyone, all together now!

Ken, good luck with all the "fun stuff" you have to do on your birthday.

Gotta go feed the woodstove.

Later!

Thank You for all the Birthday Wishes! They mean something to me! Guess the best present I will get is Ulrich being back!

THAT, FOLKS, is the "Magical Mystery Tour" behind the scenes at work in the DIner here! The fact that everyone here can have a care celebrate miestones with one another and miss somebody when they don't check in at least once a week...no matter what area of the USA, or WHAT country across the globe someone is in, we are there for them and CONCERNED CITIZENS!

And all those "sometime posters and often lurkers" even come out to post when they are relieved to hear from someone again, and I am SURE the "ALL THE TIME LURKERS" out there also feel the good vibes in the diner, even if they choose NOT to "get involved" or it isn't  exactly "MRRing related"!!!

Now "Happy Bird day" to OTHERS who celebrate today! MAy they have Cake and Gift along with their choice of Drinks Beer Coffee !!!

AND SPECIAL THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS for those who need them!!!

Have a  GREAT EVENING!!!

Morning all,

ULRICH - A belated welcome back

HAPPH BIRTHDAY TO ALL who've had a BIRTHDAY recently.

Like Ulrich I'm a Leo too, I have a guardian lion too, no doubt a good friend of Broadway Lion. Smile

More weather...

We've had another 130mm of rain overnight all up in 2012 we've had nearly 700mm already, normal yearly average is 1000mm. One place up the road an hour (Noosa) had 325mm in two hours from 9pm-11pm!! Absolutely insane...

On the layout front...

Thinking of building a small module with a bridge scene to either install at the end of my staging yard with the view to extend the layout to another section in the future, or as the initial module leading into my staging yard.  The module would only be around 24" x 12". I've always wanted to have a bridge Big Smile

Thats about it for now,

Bowl of cherries, please.

If I forgot to mention it, Jerry is OK. He does drop in on the Diner and read posts. Still in the same place and is working on a new railroad, while keeping the Illinois and Southern going. (hope he doesn't mind, it wouldn't hurt to send healing thoughts to his other half)

Still not feeling that great today. It is what it is.

Have a good one all.

Good to see Ulrich back, hope you get better my friend.

Rob: Indeed thanks for the update on Jerry.

Well the storm of the year came and passed us with no accumulating snow at all, it rained all day though and its is quite windy out now. I love how all the garbage on the street winds up on my lawn when it gets windy, does anybody else find that? I dont know if its paper that blows out of people's recycling bins or just people who are slobs and litter. Whatever its I get sick of having to be the blocks garbage man when the winds kick up.

 Evening Fellow Dinners!

Flo, Beer please and a pieces of Cake

Well, got my running done but the limb still is laying of the patio. Sigh But what the heck, it is my birthday!

Called Gary at Calvert Express for 45 minutes or so. Seems promising, then I called his area supervisor Dave Gower. Not as promising but was not shut down either. Hard part for me is both Gary and Dave where managers that worked For Me when I was the area supervisor. But I am willing of swallowing my pride. Dave did tell me if I have not heard from him by Monday to give him a call.

Time to do some dog fighting on the computer!

Evening All,

Hope everyone is doing well tonight.

Tomorrow I am picking up the turnouts so hopefully next week I can finish the redo of the 2 curves. I started to rip out my next project today. The photo shows the 2 freight sidings and coal tower. The entire area will be removed. What is going back in is 1 track for the left side freight, the coal tower will have 3 leads and I plan on moving it closer to the camera, and the right 2 freight tracks go away completely. The 3 buildings there will be on the reverse loop where the steam servicing facilities are at now. I laid it out and I will need 3 RH #5 PECO Insulfrogs. I am also using ground throws instead of Tortoise's. I have found that I made the layout overly complicated and not designed so well in placesDunce...so now I have to fix it so it works well.

Hope everyone has a good night and prayers for those in need and sick or hurt.

Flo, just a cup of decaf for me.  I'll be in the back by the stove reading up on some posts here for a few minutes.  Then off to bed.  Early and hopefully fun day operating on a great layout tomorrow.

Probably won't get in for breakfast before I leave.

Prayers for all in need!  have a restful night.

Curt: The layout is looking good. We can learn a lot from looking at what others have done but the best way to learn is to do it and hopefully be able to learn from our mistakes. I know I've made a bunch over the forty plus years I've been in the hobby.

For those curious about the innards of the U25C, it's an older Athearn blue box SD45 mechanism that's mostly original. The differences are a new motor, different light mounting and a hardwired Bachmann DCC decoder. The motor was changed because the old black ring magnet motor didn't agree with DCC at all. The original light mount was removed due to the tiny front hood of the Rivarossi U25C body. The light is mounted on top of the front truck so it still fries the crew in the cab. Oh yeah, four of the six wheelsets were changed out with nickel silver wheelsets. The center wheelset in each truck are the old sintered iron wheels.

Are we still in Japan?

Good morning everyone. Thanks for starting us off Bill. Ulrich is back and almost everything is right with the world.  Now the censored censores have gotten me in trouble with Curt. H.O. modlers are H.O. ers NOT the "W" word. Person using a hoe in the garden is a ***. There is also hoar frost. None of these words are to be misconstrude as a low-life. I hope Curt will read my P.M. and or this post. And ,yes, I am a H.O.er Besides , the word they thought I used starts  with a "W".

Prayers for all of us.

Good Morning!! Coffee and….

ULRICH!!! Thank goodness you’re back! Prayers for healing sending your way. Um, how’s Petra’s computer skills coming?

Healing thoughts and prayers being sent out for Sally. ConfusedSallie. Ah, the big guy knows who I mean.

Jeremy- Ever see Cheers? Remember when Cliff would come in and, as postal rules savvy as he was, hand out peoples mail to them there in the bar? Then they would all pass the mail they received to the proper recipient? That’s trash day around here. Not bad for the full cans but after they’re empty and the wind (always seems to be windy on trash day. Go figure) blows them around, we are all wandering around bringing trash cans back to the rightful owners and/ or retrieving our own.

Flip- I did chuckle when I first saw what you wrote. But I would have also with the periods. But I, myself knew what you meant. Just thought it was funny. I doubt if anyone here thought different. Well they may not have found it funny, but I'm sure they knew what you meant or didn't even think of the other one.

Well today is another I don’t know what I’ll do day. I still have so many little things to do. I have those two shelves to build so maybe….

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!
