I will.

Well, I was right about the bone shard working it's way out of what's left of my ankle. It was the size of a large toenail clipping and razor sharp. It was however rather easy to remove and I'm much more comfortable without it. I put the two GP30's up on several forums sale sites this morning. I hope they can be sent off to a good home soon. Nothing else going on so far.

Afternoon folks!

Chloe I'll have a cup of hot cocoa to tide me over to supper time please.

This has been an "interesting" day so far.....  I spent a couple hours trying to get to talk to a human at the local Utility company.....  Last week I got a call from a local number that they wanted to come over and replace my gas meter.  OK, it is probably 50 or so years old and most likely time.  However, I got to thinking after they made the appointment about a letter from the Utility company saying "an unauthorized person" was given access to customers data by some idiot they hired to work on the system....  So, just in case there was something amiss I decided to call the Utility Co. to make sure it was indeed them who want to come and remove something from my house.  I decided that since their email system states they will get back to me with an answer some time in the next few weeks, I figured a simple phone call would be in order.  No such thing as a "simple" phone call.  There are no humans evidently available withing 15 or 20 button pushes on any of their phones!  I first tried the local "customer service" line.  THAT put me into a never ending loop telling me to hang up and dial one of several 1-800 numbers to report an emergency or to enter the persons extension #.  So I then called the 1-800 # for "Customer Service" and spent an hour or so pushing buttons there to see if a human would answer.  Finally I called back and let them tell me to call 1-800..... to report an emergency and just waited for about 15 minutes...  Yep, finally a voice came on the line telling me they are connecting me to THAT extension.  "Please stay on the line, your call will be answered in the order it was received.  Your call is very important to us..."  Right!  After a few more minutes on hold, guess what!?!  A human being!!!  WOW!  I was not as nice as I should have been to the poor lady, but she was (after putting me on hold for a few more minutes - they have terrible music playing for THAT) able to verify the people coming to my house tomorrow are indeed working for them and will be there to replace my gas meter.

I then decided to go grocery shopping as the milk was sour this morning when I went to put it on my old person high fiber cereal (you don't really think I get to eat all the good stuff I order in here now...).  Tuesday is normally "Crazy little old lady day bussed in from those homes" day at Tops.  I guess they have now changed the schedule as it appears today was short fat people day there.  I felt right at home! Whistling  It may just be because of the Holiday yesterday, I don't know.  They have quite wide isles at Tops, and it was nearly impossible to get by anyone...  Then I got to the check out counter and was waited on by a young guy who talked something like this... "mffffurb dhyduu if mubbber flurby?"  I adjusted my hearing aids to compensate so he mumbled even more and talked quieter....  Of course he expected an answer......  Anyway I got back home, walk in the door, and find the huge bag of plastic bags I was going to take with me to recycle....

Now I am going to see if I can get some model railroading in down cellar!  To heck with stuff I should be doing! SighLaugh

Later!

Br. Elias Lion,

I find that so sad.   Sure sorry the decision had to go that way.

Hope all goes well with that job and workers stay safe.

Johnboy out.....................................................

Job all done. about 2 work days. All workers were inside of a machine of some sort. I do not know what the cost was, but it had to be a low number, otherwise it would have had to have been voted on.

Wood like that has value, but not enough value. To salvage the lumber would have taken as long as it took to build the barn in the first place: Ergo at today's prices perhaps a half million dollars. As far as it just sitting there: not a good thing. It would be an "attractive nuisance" and thus a liability.

Even railroads tear down buildings that they do not need anymore.

RAY...we have NYSEG, I don't know if you got them, or RG&E Or Nat'l Grid, but anywho...{we had the same notification about the scarfed data}:

A few days ago a young man {I am now at that age where anyone under 40 is a "young man" or "young lady"} anywho...a young man banged on the door and I answered. He mumbled something- not to unlike your checkout young man- and showed me a badge...and further mumbled about utility bills and he needed to have a look at my most recent utilty bill to be sure I "wasn't being ripped off" or somehting like that . I told him, 'No Thank You' and pointed to the "NO SOLICITING" sign on the door right next to the "NO SMOKING OXYGEN IN USE" sign. He again said somehting about trying to be sure I wasn't being ripped off by the utility company or something or other like that and he still needed to see my utility bill. I finally "swelled myself up to look  big"  and told him in a loud booming voice "LOOK, I don't know WHO you are, or WHAT you want, but I'll be DARNED if I am going to show you a utility bill wiht personal information on it. Now GO AWAY"!!!!

He said OK, but that by NY State law{really???} he had to give me a paper with something on it about what he was doing {WHY didn't he offer me that in the first place??? {{I might have been more hospitable}}}. He went away and the paper "looked legit" I GUESS,,,,but neither I nor MOH understood what was on it...and ANYONE can print up mumbo-jumbo to LOOK important.

SO..YOu were right to contact teh COMPANY about this I think!

Dunno these days...someone is always out to get something out of you! AND the more personal info taht is the more skeptical I am theses days....

Pancakes, sausage and a Fasnacht (in Maryland a Kinkling, or in Polish communities, Paczki). Oh yeah, I'm making that for dinner with the family tonight :)

Galaxy I've dealt with types like that before, I always thought it a way for someone to try and put me onto a different utility company and possibly shady so I never gave them much time aside telling them thank you but no thank you. And the utility bills stay with confidential in this house!

Got my taxes filed today, looking forward to some monies coming back from the state and federal governments, but need to send a whopping six whole dollars to the county! Oh wow, it's ready to go I just didn't make time to stand in line at the post office yet.

Happy Lent!

Ok, second try at this post,

Good Evening Diners,

We just recieved a couple of inches of snow today but I can't blame Johnboy as it came from the southwest. Maybe Lion sent it as I'm sure lions don't like snow.

Jeff, that bone shard incident is quite, well almost grusome. I can imagine Kramer saying "Man, that freaks me out!!"

We went to visit our friends in Minnesota this past weekend and had a great time. My friend took me to a loco rebuilding place just a few miles from his house. They had a couple of chop nose GP9s, a SW1200 and a NW something waiting to go in the shop. They have a restored NW2 that they use for a yard loco. It was the first diesel that the SOO line acquired in 1939 and is painted in SOO livery.

I picked up one of those ConCor short passenger cars and must say I'm not that impressed especially for $45. The Rapido cars are far better but alas are too long for my little layout.

Not  much progress on the N scale layout. I have decided on the siding positions and just have to glue down the track. Next will be wiring it all up. The main line is done and I did test it electically. The revised lower grade works fine.

Well we are committed to another trip to Africa in 2013 as we paid the deposit last week. You have to book far in advance as some of the camps only have 6 tents. This time we're going to Botswana, Zimabwe( to see Victoria Falls) and then on to South Africa which will include a train trip! We're going from Pretoria to Cape Town, a 2 day, 1000 mile journey. Really looking forward to that as they start out using steam power, well for a few miles anyway.

Not much else to report, hope everyone is well.

Good evening, Diners.

I'm concerned as are other Diners that Ulrich has been absent. I see his most recent post in the forum was in another thread a week ago. ....... I sent him an email yesterday, but I have not heard back. Let's pray he's okay.

Galaxy ... I was thinking of you and was going to ask how your back is doing these days. I see you already posted the situation. Sorry to learn it is painful, and  I hope it feels better tomorrow. Prayers for you.

Rob ... Sounds like you live in Coyote Country. Best of luck to you with that. Also, I hope your health is holding up okay.

Jeff ... Nice flat car load.

I've been a bit busy. Not much model railroading time, but I have been working on another downtown building when I can.

Happy Model Railroading.

Evenin' folks!

Janie I'll have a cup of decaf and a slice of the fresh baked Apple Pie please.  It's OK my blood sugar was 89 a few minutes ago when i checked it so some carbohydrates before bed time wouldn't hurt a bit.....

Rob, If the Utility company had said, "Ah, no we aren't changing out any gas meters in your area....  They might have been met at the door by the local police instead of me...... Smile, Wink & Grin  I think I have enough of a path cleared so they will be able to do the job tomorrow.

I finally did get to go and get a new steel storage unit at Lowes late this afternoon.  Took the truck which hasn't been run for over a month.  I need to start it and use it every now and then anyway.  I opened upthe box right in the ruck and carried the individual peices down cellar.  Much easier than trying to wrestle a hundred lb. box down the back entrance by myself.....  Have it all put together and set up the entertainmant system on it already:

Next step is to get a guy to come and put up some cheap gypsum wallboard so I can repaint the backdrop.  The original did not come out very good so I might as well replace it now while everything is torn up and before I start with any scenery in the room.  In the meantime I still have several turnouts to build.

Just ordered some 90° Plastruct elbows to help make some downspouts for the roofs on the powerhouse.  Do any of you have any photos of flat roofs from back in the 1920s?  I looking to see what types of ventilators they might have had on them....  I can easily scratch some drains for on the roofs.  found several good photos online THAT would be correct for the 1920s.  Details, details, details...

Prayers for all in need!  Have a good night.

 Evening Fellow Dinners

Flo, thank you dear for the Beer!

" I picked up one of those Con Cor short passenger cars and must say I'm not that impressed especially for $45. The Rapido cars are far better but alas are too long for my little layout."

Charlie What do you not like about them? Detail or tracking? I have 10 of the short Santa Fe Flyers cars and the took some work!  Had to add weight, some had plastic wheels that I replaced and added coupler pockets and Kadee long shank couplers. They now track like a dream (watch them derail the next time out) and have not derailed in 200 or so laps around my layout.

With me be half blind and sitting 8 feet from the layout, lack of detail means to me there less parts for me to break off! Whistling

Work Front Larry the services manager is starting to have second thoughts about becoming King of the shop. He would make less money (that is starting to sink in) because he would be salary (no over time that he is milking) and the New Services Manager would be selling all the extra work! He on the other hand would be up to his neck in paper work.

So we will see what unfolds in the next few days. I still might stand a chances of getting the manager slot. Plus it seems I still might have another option. Gary (owner of Calvert Express) called me again this time at work. I could not talk with Larry stand right beside me. So again, we shall see.

Ulrich, come back, we miss you!

Good Morning All,

Todd sounds like she got a nice guy, chances are he’s a Seaman (E3) and not yet rated if he is in the honor guard.

Curt, were not really sure, but I think part of it she doesn’t move around much.  I think she needs to get up and walk around more often.

Ray sounds typical; not one human available to answer the phone but be 2 days late on your bill and you’ll have 4 humans trying to reach you.  My GF had the original 1950’s square gas meter up until last summer when the gas company insisted on replacing it.  I guess the meter wasn’t working right since her gas bill doubled this winter.

After running the 80 CFM exhaust fan I installed last weekend I’m disappointed in how much air it doesn’t move so I picked up a 6” 260 CFM fan last night for the paint table in the basement. Now I just need to get motivated to pull the 4” system down and install the 6” system.

I have a DDS appointment Friday morning and Saturday morning I have to get an ultra sound on my kidneys so both ends will have a good diagnostic this week.  According to the 24 hour urinalysis I completed last week my kidneys are just spewing out Uric Acid, Sodium, and calcium so the Doc wants to see if the right kidney is still swollen from surgery or if I need to do something crazy like change my diet and work out more.

Since I have Friday off I might break out the camera and post a few pictures, nothing exciting just the new spray table and maybe a picture of the filled rolling stock dresser.  Well not full, but I did learn I have almost zero 50 foot box cars and almost 150 forty foot box cars.

Good morning. It's 63° and cloudy. The high will be 75° and it will be partly cloudy.

Nothing going on today other than cleaning up the layout a bit. Right now a train could make most of the trip around but would be stopped at the 180° curve on the east side due to stuff being on the track. I've gotten a couple of nibbles on my GP30's but nobody's run away with them yet.

Good Morning!! Just coffee please. Thanks.

Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56.

Not much to say this morning. We’ll see how that holds up once I read the posts. Laugh

I agree with the our country has it all outlook. I have been to a few other countries, granted not a whole lot, but enough, and we in the United States have just about everything the other countries have to offer. AND can drink the water. Most times.

Oh Barry, keep her in the dark on the ceramic tile shower stall. See, they don’t “make” them. You have to. One tile at a time. Plus the prep w**k and plumbing issues. All the fixtures are set at a distance farther away from the wall with the fiberglass stall than the ceramic would be from the wall. I haven’t played my Ace yet on this. See she wants the ceramic because she is tired of trying to get the molded in texture clean on the floor. When the time comes I may have to bring up the cleaning the grout issue. She won’t have just the floor and the caulk around the door frame to deal with, but the entire shower stall.Mischief

Just got a case of the Willies.

Lee- He is a super nice guy. I should have said he was in the honor guard. He isn’t anymore. But still to be chosen tells a lot about a person in my opinion. People do change but what I see of him he hasn’t. I ain't askin either. He's a big boy.

Well that wasn’t bad. Kept it kinda short.

Time to watch Ziva.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Morning All,

Thankfully I'm off work today. Yesterday was busier than Monday. At one point we had run so many calls back to back without any break that my mind was in melt down but my partner saw I was struggling and helped me out so it was all good.  I saw last night on the weather that Fri it  is supposed to be 88 F then Sat 70 F. I think we are at the end of our almost non winter this season.

It seems strange to not have a project to do on the layout. I'm in limbo until I get the needed turnouts this Sat. Next week I will be a track laying fool. I have been looking at some wooden small  businesses to go into the increased  space on the one side of the layout.

Today I'm doing laundry and I need to vacuum so not much happening.

Todd- Your daughter  is dating a sailor? I missed that in the posts.

Galaxy- Sorry your back still hurts.

Everyone take care.

Kon'nichiwa, anata no subete ni ohayƍgozaimasu!

Zoe, I'll have a breakfast bagel with bacon and cheese and a cup of dark roast coffee to wake me up.

Currently 47 °F outside the door under partly cloudy skies.  I already lit the wood stove today as the people are coming to replace the gas meter this afternoon so I will have no axillary heat until they are finished....

I think today will be start to clean the main floor of the house as it is at a point where even I am disgusted to live here.....

Manét the cat woke me up around 3AM by having a hairball on my bed!  Guess I will be changing sheets and the comforter out today.......  Yuck!

I may get some actual layout stuff done today.....  Yippie!

 Howdy Fellow Dinners

 Flo, coffee please.

All most time to go to work again. Sigh Now that I am in the habit of getting up around 9:30 PM sure does not leave much time before I have to get ready for work.

Short day today. 36f ,cloudy and very windy!

No kit building, scenery, etc. this fine day. All I'm going to do is see how long it'll take to run all the events in my schedule! That's 26 trains in sequence and yard switching duties, folks!

BBL to let you know how it's going!

Currently 47 °F outside the door under partly cloudy skies.

Manét the cat woke me up around 3AM by having a hairball on my bed!  Guess I will be changing sheets and the comforter out today.......  Yuck!

It's 54* and sunny here. They are supposed to get an inch of *snow* just north of here...whatever will they do???

RAY- those are "special love gifts" from the cats when they share their hairballs with you in bed!!! It's about as good as having it *squish up betwixt your toes* when it is on the floor on your way to the *facilities* half awake in the dark of half light of night lights!

Well, have to wait for my next muscle relaxer. It is 3 weeks till I go back to the Center FOr Pain RElief. The pulled muscle really gets me and isnt healing well.

Well, a new serial I have been watching called Wind At My Back on INSP insperation channel is on in ten minutes. It is set in Ontario Canada in the 1930s during the depression feature a matriachal Grandmama and her family who owns half the town and the Mining operation there.  better go.

Later.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
