Dr Pepper please. Thank you.

Didja ever say something and then the next day think "Ya know, maybe I shouldn't have said that."? Well such is the case with this post. Served no purpose but could stir up more remarks. Don't need that. So I just edited it out.Zip it!

Time for me to call it a night. Low tonight will be 34, a bit warmer than last night. However it's looking like there'll be a 70% chance of rain in the morning. Another wet day in paradise. See y'all tomorrow.

Hello folks, been a week or two since I last stopped by. Been very busy lately.

I managed to stop by the LHS last friday and I picked up a few things, namely some WS clump foliage to make more trees with the 50 odd tree kit I got as well. I also picked up a ' Barbs bungalow ' kit and a DPM kit. I managed to build around 10 trees so far. I figure with these 50 odd to go I should have enough trees on my layout, save for a couple more pines possibly on the foot hill in below photo :

Here you can see a new addition to the layout, namely the blue backdrop. It serves two purposes...

1) you may notice behind there is a door. that is the main entry from the backyard thru the house to the front. The laundry is adjacent to that so is pretty high traffic. A few poor trees have disappeared caught in clothing as they brush by. This prevents that and also

2) serves as a better backdrop than the white bricks.

It is just a sheet of clear perspex which I got for free from the sign writer next door, that I painted with a blue spray can. I didn't bother removing the thick paper backing so the paint stuck better. I painted the other side tan so it blends better.  The next step on the layout is probably fascias as I want to use the last of the tan paint, and it will also mean being able to install my DCC throttle properly.

I still only have one DCC loco at the moment, a FVM Gevo, I did have  an SD40-2 but I fried the decoder... doh.

Apologies for the long post...

Cheers,

Good Morning!! Coffee and the Brakeman’s Special please. Over medium on the eggs thank you.

Snow, mainly after noon. High near 33. South wind between 9 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. Another 1-2” possible over night. Now the local yokels are calling for between 2 and 4. We’ll see. Actually, around here it is hard to determine just how much snow you got what with the blowing and drifting, you can measure between a light dusting and 12 inches from the same snowfall.

Thanks guys for filling me in on what happened. Silly stuff goes on don’t it.

Speaking of that. As you saw, the post I made earlier really makes no sense. Well I made a remark that, though not bad, under the circumstances served no purpose but could cause another unwanted argument or comment so, instead of asking for the post to be deleted, I just took the fastest route and edited it to it’s usual head scratching sameness as all my posts.

Floor Wars Williamsville: Phase….I lost track - All I have to do is grout the heavy traffic area of the floor. The path to both the garage and the basement. These are the designated smoking areas so I need to do them when the wife isn’t home so she can get to and from. She is not necessarily the whole problem, though she does have a tendency to wait until it is very inconvenient to need to be right were you are. Like she just waits for that time to come. Hmm Odd. Anyway, the dog likes to be where she is, and that means dog toenails in the groutSigh. Anyway, I will be done today and then that means…..Master Bathroom here I come. Well, I was reminded I was to get her car running before I started on the kitchen floor. Must have forgotWhistling.

Good morning, Chloe.  This was a lazy weekend.  A coffee, please, and off to work.

Saturday I went to a play in Seattle with a friend.  When I got home, Larry had Valentine's Day flowers for me.

His backdrop clinic is on Friday.   He and another guy from our MR group are painting a scene on another friend's layout.  It should be fun.

Good Morning All,

34F and clear this morning with the trend towards warming. Hope to get the trailer brakes finished today and then on to the next rodeo.

Lion, I have seen a couple of slide shows at the museum about the LIRR mostly out on the island itself. I know they were a subsidiary of the PRR so likely had a lot of their equipment . If you need I can find out more. The only stuff I actually remember are the FM C-liners and of course they used the ex NH FA for a control car in pushme/pullu mode.

Todd - discretion - the better part of valor. I was doing drywall stuff yesterday when the CFO decided it was time to vacuum right where I was sanding.  Just waited until it was clear and went back to it then cleaned up later. Jeff will just have to take our word for it - he doesn't know what he's missingWhistling

Between chores and the shop I didn't really get any mrr stuff done though I did pick at the viaduct I'm building. The Gorilla Glue seems to have done the job bonding the bare rail to the bridge ties though one joint is slightly out of line and I'll need to redo that or file it if it sets close enough.

      Catch Y'all later. J.R.

Good Morning Modelers!

It's 30F and Partly Cloudy here and once again they are talking about another storm passing through here on Tuesday.  AT least we got some melting which mostly got the ruts cleared on the side streets.  Time for a quick bite and some coffee before starting my 12+ day work week; YUK!  Big IT upgrade project this weekend so it's going to be a long week before my next weekend off.  It's a paycheck...

Good morning.

It's 38° and wet. Wind chill is 32°. Showers in the morning. Showers and a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. High will be 55°. There's a 90% chance of rain. The rain will continue tonight.

It seems damp, cloudy and wet are the words of the day today. I won't be doing anything outside today so no problem. I'll see if I can get started on some weathering work today.

Kon'nichiwa!

Zoe, I will have the #2 special, over easy on the eggs, side order of bacon, homefries, and a double order of sourdough toast along with my dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug please.

Barry, nice Mother Hubbard.

Jeffery, you southern boys must be a-shiverin' ta beat the band.........  It's nice here today.  Currently 30°F with the sun a shining.  The white stuff is melting off the driveways, roads, and roofs of the houses here due to solar energy.....  Blackie the cat is laying on the table where my plants are, soaking up some rays (His coat is hot!).  Sun coming in the picture window has the house heated up to 70 at the moment.  I'll wait to light the wood stove until the sun goes and hides behind some clouds.

Went to dinner and Birthday party (for his MIL) at my son's house last night.  Took the usual back road over to get there.  Found myself 3 cars behind the snowplow....  Not a bad thing at all as the wind was making some nice big drifts across the road in a lot of places!  Took the main road through Waterloo (About 3 miles longer) on the way home!

Not a whole lot going on here today.  Need to write my column for the NMRA Division newsletter and get in touch with a couple people about the Spring Meet in April...  Hopefully will get some w*rk done on the layout as well.  Oh I need to decide what exactly I will do at the Troop meeting (Merit Badge) tomorrow night.......  Guess I do have some things to get done!

Catch you all later!

 Morning Fellow Dinners.

 Flo, Coffee please.

Sues SSI Bang Head I sure wish at this point she did not get any! It seems every other month they send us a letter saying she was over paid, this time $1,400.00. Then I have to fill out paper work for the said over payments to be waived.

What we have to do is every month send them copies of my pay stubs for the month before. Then they review how much I made, then they send her a check if she gets one. Then a few months later, they want it back because she was over paid? Bang Head

We all so have to fill out a questionnaire and these 2 questions kill me.

 Q. What did you do to cause the over payment?

 A. Sent you my pay stubs.

 Q. What are you going to do so yo will not be over paid in the future?

 A. Send your department a new Calculator?  Whistling

Will we get Snow today? I have no clue but they are calling for up to 4 inches. So Sue is all stressed out?Sigh Woman is deathly afraid of the white stuff!

Well time to fill out the paper work Bang Head again!

Good mid-morning. 19f and windy. No work today, again.

Pretty fun weekend, lots of MRRing. Met a guy at the show who was looking for a Soo Line caboose, have one I won't use ,so sent it to him today. He said he might have a BN caboose laying around for a swap. Nice!

Speaking of surplus stuff, I have an Athearn Soo Line SD-45( shell only, no railings) and a Bachman  C&NW F-7 A shell I won't need if anyone's interested. Free to a good home. Reorganizing the workbench ( thanks for the push, Ray!). might find some other stuff to dispose of.

Got all but 1 caboose into revenue service yesterday, will finish that one today.

Forgot who asked, but, no I've never lived in the south.

 That's all for now.

Well, the mail came today.

That is not so unusual.

But, I got a letter from Social Security about my disability payments last year. It is a fold over and sealed at the sides and top wiht tear-offs to be torn off to open it to read it.

Well, It arrived mangled, dirty and taped shut but sliced open on top and the side tear off strips were opened {not torn off but peeled open} and someone had written on it: "Mailman: please check address!!!"

That means whomever it was erroniously delivered to actually OPENED IT first, and GUESS what information a letter from the Government agency known as the Social Security Administration would have on it??????

You got it. My social Security number!!! Not only in one place, but in case the opener missed it there, it is in a second place on the form!!!!

I have to go to the PO tomorrow and make a loud complaint as it is  arecurring theme to have mangled mail of all sorts come here and in this case was obviously erroneously delivered to the WRONG ADDRESS!!

I will certainluy tell them in no uncertain terms that SHOULD MY IDENTITY Be STOLEN< I WILL launcha  lawsuit against the Postal Service for making it so!

Fortunately at the moment I do have a monitoring service that will tell me if other loans aret aken in my name and I will have to freeze my credit AFTER I apply for something I was going to apply for anyway.

I Am NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!!!

I ALWAYS read who what is addressed to when I get mail and have returned to teh PO any misdirected/delivered mail WITHOUT OPENING IT. OTHERS apparently randoly open their mail, wihtout paying attention!!!

galaxy- welcome to the club. Around my house there are 3 roads that all have "lake" and the same address number. We get everybodies elese mail they get ours. We send it back, they don't. We complain at PO, it fixes problem for lets say.. a whole whopping week!!

Ironically we pay the PO to get insurence so our stuff gets where we want it, is that not their job in the first place?

Waiting for grout to dry enough to sponge again, BUT the floor is done. After, of course, a trip to Springfield to get another 23 United States dollars worth of grout, and that is the smallest bucket, tinted the exact color it needs to be, Naturally, I used approximately.........1/8 of the amount when I was done. Just as it should be. Like the extension cord that is long enough for the prongs to reach the outlet, but too short to actually plug in. You know, we all have one of those. Brenda is pleased. Sort of.

Speaking of Brenda, JR- What my fuming....I mean blushing bride decide it was time for was, well I use the kitchen sink to rinse the sponge out in, cause a bucket of water actually works well until you need to rinse the sponge for the first time, then it's just a bucket of mortar water. Anyway, she decided to do DISHES! Oh it gets better. After I waited to rinse out my sponge, and got that done, I wait a while for the mortar to reset, then do another swabbing. She came downstairs a few minutes later. I assumed she was done because there weren't very many dishes at all. What two plates two pans, no three if you count the skillet and the baking dish the meatloaf was in and of course the bowl she mixed and then silverware for two. Me, I only use a fork. I went back up at the end of about an hour, and swabbed some more. She came back up and started doing dishes again. Apparently she took a break to wait until I needed the sink again. This little event happened AGAIN! Yep, three times. This time, being the third time, the alleged Charm Time which wasn't, I asked "are you doing this on purpose?" To which she looked at me, calmly put her dish rag in the water and walked away and said "fine". After hearing that word......I have yet to allow her behind me. Maybe tomorrow.

Good Afternoon All,

I'm dirty and frozen but the brakes are done. Jeff will be proud to know (not) that the entire wiring harness for the magnets is joined with suitcase connectors and crimp style splices. Now of course I used the new style suitcases with dielectric silicone inside and strain reliefs and the butt connectors have shrink tubing with sealant on them as well for protection and strain relief. In point of fact, we rarely solder any automotive electrics as the cars get bounced around so much the wires break at the end of the solder joint.  Hi temp crimp connectors, shrink tube and strain relief is the order of the day. Same as modern military vehicles. When we use screw connectors, we also use a dab of silicone sealant to secure the screws. Just a whole different world from Jeffs van I guess.

Galaxy - that is really terrible. Obviously whoever opened your mail did so on purpose if they peeled it all back and didn't rip it open. Probably thought there was a check in there... Hope the rest works out for you without any other nonsense.

Todd - NOW would be a good time to hide that skilletWhistling . I can imagine the tone "fine" had.       J.R.

It's up to 53 now and looks like we'll have a warm night (compared to the last two 50 is a blistering heat wave). At least I won't need the heater tonight. So far all I've done today is watch a movie and have lunch with my parents. Steak, sliced carrots, green beans, biscuits, onions. I thought I'd do some weathering today but I haven't even started one project.
