Our snow yesterday was 14 inches before we went out to shovel the deck. It is a long deck, so lots of exercise. Two or 3 more inches floated in on the clean deck. About mid afternoon a fine rain/sleet started. We now have a hard crust on the top.
I should get off the computer before the power goes out. If that happens, it could be a week.

Morning All,
I think it's supposed to get to 77 F here today and by Sunday 80 F. I doesn't look like we are going to cool down much this winter which probably means this summer is going to be brutal.
MOH has already said we are going grocery shopping today since everybody is off today including our son. I have the OT shift that I am w**king tomorrow.
Train wise I want to pull up a 4 ft section of track in the back of the layout (inner loop), remove 2 turnouts and lay straight track. This is in preparation for removing the outer loop and elevating it a little bit to make it more interesting and easier to see from the front of the layout.

Still working out kinks and bugs in the operation scheme. Nothing major and a lot of fun! Finding all the little stuff that needs to be adjusted/ addressed on equipment and track. Even though I really tried to be diligent in laying track , some things are bound to crop up. Found I need to add another track at Spooner yard to ease traffic volume there. Was going to at the start but used the turnouts elsewhere.

Good Morning!! Coffee and a Denver omelet please. Thanks. A 40 percent chance of snow before noon. Partly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 18 by 5pm. Winter I guess. But stay tuned for Sunday and Monday’s temps. Boy Jeff sure was grumpy yesterday. Oh, prostrate exam. Ya, that’ll ruin yer outlook for a bit. Ray- Yes no matter the circumstances, loss of life, especially young is always tragic. Most times the attention is focused on the victim. Many don’t think of the officer. Real life is not TV. Most officers never even shoot a person, let alone kill them. When they do it’s not like on Law and order or NCIS where they just check for a pulse and go on with their lives as if nothing happened. Good people take death at their hands very hard even when there is a gun involved. I feel and pray for the officer as well as the family of the victim. He has a whole pile of feelings going on when the “weapon” was a cell phone. Despite the possible findings of the investigation, run by folks who have probably not been in his situation and even if they had, there is a very high standard for a Police Officer, almost impossible to maintain in this type of situation, I also feel he acted, based on what I’ve been told, in a proper manner. Probably not much comfort at this point though. Lee- Well, as I think about it I don’t know why, but I was thinking more in lines of a traditional chest of drawers. Could just stick with the current plan of modern era with only older small towns involved therefor letting me kinda have the best of both worlds. Ah the problems faced being the king of a world.

Curt, 80°F? You can keep that place along with the bugs, snakes, and snowbirds! I have relatives down there THAT keep wanting to have me come down for the Winter. What Winter? Been way too warm up here this year, but lucky we have had a few days of decent weather this past week. Right now it is a nice 24°F with partly cloudy skies. Prediction a couple inches of "partly cloudy" today.

About all I will be doing today is taking the first place Art and Poetry over to the newspaper for them to scan. They always do a nice write up about it. Then a couple hours in the train room, followed by dinner at the home of the president of the colleges here. The colleges have Rev. Harold A. Middlebrook Sr. speaking at the monthly forum tonight. Rev. Middlebrook was standing near Martin Luther King Jr. at the time he was shot and killed. I have met him once before and he is a very interesting speaker and a true gentleman. I am looking forward to it.

Good morning. It's 53° and cloudy. The high will be 68° and it will be patyly cloudy. Looks like rain tonight.Not feeling good today so I'll be taking a break from the layout. There's been some kind of bug going around and I think I caught it. I need a break anyway. I've been working on locos so much lately I'm seeing them in my sleep. Even so, watching the trio of F3's pulling fifty NMRA weighted cars like they weren't even there yesterday was a pleasant sight. Gonna be watching some movies for a change. See y'all later.

Today was the last day of exams. I'm just happy to have those out of the way... Let's just say that it wasn't the most fun two weeks of my life... And we'll leave it at that.
Other than a game, I got nothing going on for the rest of tonight. I'm off tomorrow as well, so hopefully I'll be able to stop in a few times.

Good afternoon folks. Mid 30s and cloudy here, but I won't complain....we've gotten off easy so far this winter. I'm pretty much out of it today...not much sleep last night.
On the model railroad front, a couple small but huge to me advances..I have my 2 HCDs in their intended locations (but on saw horses), to test the room flow...so far looking good. The other is that yesterday I arranged for a friend with a truck to pick up the first round of benchwork lumber. Also, I think he is interested enough in what I'm doing to possibly want to lend a hand. That would be a BIG thing for me.

snow is really coming down here. I was in the train room working on the layout and didnt realize how much we had on the ground. I went out and shoveled the driveway and will have to go out later on to do it again for sure, first real decent snowfall all winter and there calling for snowsqualls until later on tonight. The wife picked today to go shopping with her friends, well at least she stayed in town and off the highways.

Back from running a bunch of errands. Picked up tiles, horse stuff, new battery for the van (old one was at 6 volts), and discussed hay baling equipment with a dealer. A productive day, for me.
We got the fireplace going in here as we got into the 'teens F now...going to a low of 7F tonight.
Things be doing well here..everything was picked up but I forgot to take something back to Home Desperado so I be doing that tomorrow...

Just got done with supper so Flo could I have a cup of Decaf please?
Got a lot done today. I finished the coal yard, and completely replaced, painted, and ballasted the inner rear track (and tested) in preparation of modifying the back of the layout. The 2 RF-16 A units arrived today so I ran them for about 30 minutes then put KD couplers on them and decaled unit numbers on them. Saturday I'll go to the club and program the numbers into them and set them up as a consist. I'm still waiting on the train phone supports to arrive.
Barry- That's a nice looking kitty there.
Rob- I hope your horse is doing better.

Dan, Gus, and I had a workshop session today to install the new MRC "drop in" sound decoders made for the Proto 2000 E8/9's and Alco PA's. The phrase "drop in" makes it sound easy, and it's not at all easy. My E8 now works, but not its headlight. More work for next time.

Had to get out and shovel again. I did my driveway and my neighbors across the street, he was quite happy when he came home to see it shoveled. Placed a order again at the hobby shop which I will pick up on Monday morning other then that I will be back doing some more work on the layout tomorrow.

I was looking through some stuff in the closet and came across a couple of items. One is a shell from an old Mantua F unit. I put it on a Varney frame so it can at least sit on a siding. The other is a Bachmann FT shell on an Athearn chassis with a Proto 1000 motor. DCC of course, a DZ125 decoder still set on address 3. It has some pickup issues and feels like it has a cracked gear in the rear truck. Nothing I can't fix. Once I get it working properly I can put an F7B body on it or maybe an F3B body (don't have any more A's) and start building another multi-unit consist. Well time for me to call it a night. I'm still not feeling well and am very tired. See y'all tomorrow.

Wonderful evening this! Dinner at the College Presidents home. Place was packed! (Probably near 50 people attending.) Exquisite food, great company, and a short private talk by Rev. Middlebrook. Then Mark Gearan sat down at his Steinway grand and with the help of a few soloists from the MLK choir, we all sang the "Battle Hymn of the Republic again!!! Then over to the main campus of the college for the President's Forum with Rev. Harold A. Middlebrook as the speaker. Powerful! I learned a lot of facts about MLK I had no idea of. Stuff you won't find in the history books. Rev. Middlebrook is also very funny, very engaging, and a brilliant man. Won't sleep much tonight..........

Hello folks. Been a busy week for me so far. Into the final hours of the working week!
I got a new phone last night. A HTC EVO 3D. it has a 3D camera and can record in HD and take photos in 3D. The cool thing is you don't need glasses to view it. I can also watch 3D movies on it.
It of course still makes and receives calls.
Coming from a Nokia E71, its pretty cool to have, although I'm no stranger to the technology as I do own an iPad and have played with HTC's before.
Might have to do a video in 3D of the trains.
Just thought I'd let you guys know.

Last few days have been a real pain in the caboose!
Work Front Yesterday I was scheduled too work from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and I was looking forward to getting home by 5:30! Walked in the door and I was told I was closing? Seems Bill (ex service) called in and I had to close! Man it was a long 12 hours! I seldom get stumped by the computer these days, but yesterday I ran into so many things I did not know how to do! Worst part? I know more about the computer now than either the Manager and the Services Manager! So I was stuck figuring out there problems and mine. Bright side is I now can do more than I could, but I was sure glad to get the heck out of there!
Power Outage We lost power today around 9:45 AM. Sue was out spending money when the power went out. I did not think a lot about it, about the time the power went out I saw a bucket truck drive by and I thought it was the Electric company. Went into the family room and took a nap. Sue got home around 11:00 AM and still no power? She had the cell phone (line line has a modem so no phone) and I had her call. We where the only one to report the outage? Seems the transformer blew and only effected 3 houses in our complex. Other 2 houses the people where at work so no one knew. Power was out till 3:00 PM, I left for work at 1:00 PM.
Bright side of no power? Well Bill did not show up for work again and they where trying to get hold of me to come into work. Between you and the world wide web, Bill is trying to get fired. I all ready know he is calling off again Friday. I may help them Friday (my day off) but not sure yet. Guess it depends on when I look at my pay stub Friday morning on line! If it is what I think it is going to be, Tough Caboose Fellows!
Curt While I like your coal dump a lot. You need to make a real load for the coal car. With the real (OK fake coal) under the dump, you can really tell the one on top is plastic. If my remote chances you don't know how to make a better looking coal load, let me know.
I can make a pretty fair looking coal load.
