Lunchtime!
It is all quiet outside, the shops are closed for the season. Christmas trees are being decorated, there is a smell of cinnamon and chocolate in the air.
Here in Germany, Santa is coming on Christmas Eve, right after the sun has set. I remember how nervous and fidgety I got in my childhood days. Would there be a new loco under the tree? Not this time, Santa is passing us by this year - just like last year.
For the first time since we are parents, we will be all by ourselves today. Christian will join us on the 26th, which is still a holiday here. We are looking forward to have the young ones with us.
May there be peace on earth.

Good Morning!! Coffee and a breakfast burrito please, thanks. Sunny, with a high near 42. Can’t complain for a Christmas Eve in central Illinoyz. Lee- I like those phones and have been wanting one myself for a long time. Too bad I can’t use the kind without a dial. Where did you get yours? Got me thinking about it again. Garry- I don’t mean to accuse all, or any really, news media of any bias. (ahem) But I have noticed a slant on the news stories based on which channel you watch. The story is the same yes, but some how you come off with a slightly different view, or idea, or…I don’t know how to describe it. I get the headlines so to speak, but the details of most stories I am oblivious to. Example. Now I am not making a statement or argument over the content of the example itself so don't think this is a political statement or anything for or against the person mentioned. Back when Bush Senior said no new taxes, remember? Well Congress, added some new tax onto the needed bill allowing Social Security payments to be made. Must have been some budget holding thing and a special bill had to be signed for the government to be able to spend any money until a budget signed or something. Had he not signed that last minute bill, and it was put through at the last minute, SS payments would not have been able to have been made and you know what that means. What do you suppose the headlines in all the papers and on television the next day were? “Bush signs bill to allow millions of seniors and disabled to get their check“? “Congress slips new tax as a rider on needed bill forcing Bush to sign or cause millions of seniors and disabled to go without any money”? Nope. All we heard about was how Bush reneged on his campaign promise. The SS issue was ignored, except for one small sentence “accidentally” made the day after in the local paper. The writer and the proof reader where probably reprimanded or possibly fired for that little slip I’m sure. The other,even bigger issue I had was when the first Space Shuttle blew up. It was devastating and a shock to us all sure. But while watching the reporting after the explosion, the “news” media played back the footage of the families while they were watching the launch giving a play by play account of what was going on with the shuttle launch. Then, they had a family member I believe it was on camera and said “right about here is were the explosion occurred. You can see by their face they don’t know what to think. Now there, you see they think something may be wrong….now…right there you can see in there face they know something has gone horribly wrong.” I wanted to throw a wrench through the TV. There was no point in that and have hated the news media ever since. Whoa! Sorry, someone put that soap box away!

OK! We have one day to get an ahoogah horn to Ray for Christmas. I can just see him, (hear him actually I guess) with that thing on the Yaris!!!! Perfect. Oh man that fits him to a tee.
Rob- The only thing that is going on in the train room is running the miter saw. When I do get back in there it will be a massive cleaning project before any thing else can happen.
Tom- Great news on the wife. So glad she will be able to enjoy Christmas.
Welp, best get movin. The floor isn’t laying itself. Only have a little while to w**k on it because the family Christmas at the SIL’s starts at three.

Thought I’d drop by since I hadn’t been in for a spell. Tomorrow the big day and a busy one. Ours will start with a drop to Deb’s dad, then end with her mom in the evening. We had Xmas with my family last Sunday, but don’t when we have it all our kids yet. Normally, the kids is the Sunday after, but this year our oldest Grandson was supposed to leave from Korea Jan 3rd, so Mother put it off till the 8th, now he’s not leaving there till the 10th [hey it’s the army way], so she can’t decide whether to go ahead with the 8th for the others, then have something with Jus or put it off again.

I got to do some railfanning yesterday finally in Terre Haute. Mostly train watchin has been through my train room window.
I can’t really complain though, I get to see most every color or make engine and bout every kinda load on the rail in this country. I did have some luck over there tho.
Still got a few more pics I can post laters. Also went by my NSLHS to pay on a layaway, and Jim was doin his best to sell me something. Mother was there and told him no more till the layaway was paid off was I buying anything else.

Morning All,
Well it got up to 85 F here yesterday. It set the record here on the 23rd. I grew up in El Paso and saw on the news it was snowing there. We still have to wrap gifts here but that will most likely be done after my son goes to work at 5 PM (cooks at Carrabas).
I want to mount the 4 PL signals today and I will make another attempt at a video of the Mogul for the sound effects.

Good morning, Chloe. Lots of coffee this morning. Just a little touch up on the living room, and we can put it back together. We need more paint before moving on to the dining room.
Looks like we are having pizza for Christmas Eve, and steak for Christmas dinner. Both are easy cleanup, and no one is coming, so we will have a nice Christmas weekend.
Larry is painting a crawler caterpillar yellow as we speak.

Good morning. It's 41° and cloudy. The high will be 53° and there's a 30% chance of rain around noon increasing to 70% around 2:00 pm.Looks like it's gonna be another wet one today. I have a new shipment of Stoney Mountain flawed resin castings coming. I also found an HO Scale Mystery Machine (Scooby Doo) and snapped it up. Last night I HAD a $50 Visa gift card. It has less than $15 on it now. That and the $26 on the other gift card will be used for getting groceries at the end of the month. That'll give me some extra money to use elsewhere. I have to see one man about a couple of F3B dummy units and another man about a boxcar. You fellas know who you are. Nothing much planned for today. I didn't get much sleep last night, an hour or two and I have a raging headache. I'll be raiding the Aleve bottle shortly. The pain is about to drive me out of my mind. I'm out of meds due to my prescriptions being expired and I'm fresh out of doctors visits on my Medicaid. They'll be reset after the first of the year but until then it's not going to be pleasant. I'm already noticing problems with my blood pressure going up a bit and some discomfort concerning a prostate problem. Acid reflux, gall stone pain and diverticulitis are making themselves known again so a good nights sleep is going to be hard to come by. Can't wait to get started on more projects. They help take my mind off my medical problems for a while and keep me from going up the wall due to boredom. Being homebound consists largely of boredom if you don't have something to occupy your time.Future junkyard office:

Ours was an 8' x 36' blue and white one, but the windows and door placement are just like ours was. I'll have to find a photo of it.
Today I will be making the winter squash dish for the Christmas Dinners (yep two of them) tomorrow. Then have to be at Church by 4PM for the early Christmas Eve service.... My Granddaughter is singing in it! Then it is off to my son's house for whatever for supper and exchanging our gifts. Doubt i will get anything done in the train room the next couple days......

Actually, Christmas starts with First Vespers which could be held somewhat before sundown.
After first Vespers, we adjourn to the community room for a supper there rather than in the refectory since we give the cooks the evening off. The tree is lit with pomp and prayer, then we sing carols before the Abbot will turn us loose on the food.
I have yet to set up the Christmas Tree in the Refectory, but there is no rush on that since it cannot be lit until after the one upstairs is prayed over. After lunch will be fine, since that will be the last meal in there today. Tomorrow (at brunch) we will get to see whatever it is that I put together in there.
Right now some of the other guys are putting the tree up in the community room. It looks good.

LION uses LEDs They are wired in parallel, LION uses a 1K Ω resistor in series with each LED.
Sometimes the LION wires a few LEDs in series, with but one resistor in the circuit, but that is an exception to my practices.

Dar n, Jeffrey, around here the CVS will contact your Dr. and get a renewal if your med refills run out. Unless it's been a year or more since you last saw the Dr. in person, he will renew them over the phone for ya. Doesn't that apply in your case??? Or is your Dr. A stickler for visits? If he is, I'd find a new one maybe. My Dr. is so good, he took my list of meds and renewed all of them at the pharmacy that flooded {and reopened} so I DIDN'T have to call ALL my Dr.s to get them switched back to the old pharmacy once it reopened! What a sweet Dr.!!! He's really nice. I switched to him after my Dr. of 15 years moved his practice and my new Dr. is MOH's Dr, who was taking new patients at teh time in case patients wanted to switch to keep the same office as my old Dr. had. {a Lourdes hospital medical practice extention...my old dr. moved to the hospital towers which is a distance away}. SO he took me and knew I had a host of medical conditions....

Ah just a technicality........ I tend to personally follow the ancient ideas, probably comes from my love of the Elizabethan period of English history.... I became a big fan of Elizabethan Music, poetry and drama (Shakespeare, Sir Francis Bacon, et al!) back in college at Eastman. Therefore, Midnight is just that, halfway through the night with the new day starting at sundown. A Midsummer's Night's Dream was for Midsummer, the Summer Solstice which to them marked half way through Summer, etc. I rather like the concept of the day going from darkness into light just as our lives should be enlightened as we journey on our paths.... I know, I am a bit weird. Lion, may you and your Brothers be (as a Black Baptist Minister friend of mine says) "Well Blest" in this Christmas Season and in the new year!

Only took over an hour to take a bale of hay through 2 gates and no more than 30 yards to the hay ring. Knew I would not make it out to the pasture this time, so removed a section of fence, piled rocks in the soft mud and was finally able to take a bale out to the middle pasture without much concern for getting stuck. Need to order a dump truck load of medium rock though, as even my fix isn't going to last if it keeps raining much.
Went ahead and opened gifts from my sister's family early. Everything was for my wife, with the exception of one item: "RAILROADS Tracks Across America", a DVD. Cool, gives me something more to watch, since I no longer get satellite.
Will be in the corner booth awhile. Better get a cup of ice water to soak this finger in...it's killing me after having to use that hand to pull nails.

Duke- today I put KD couplers on it and put a heavier spring on the front truck. I have one really sharp bend on a siding and the factory spring was too light to hold the front truck down. After the change out no problem. I may end up repainting the roof again. The grime color reminds me of NYC grey

Well, we picked up the 3 aunts from Germany today at Toronto's Pearson Airport...they actually got here on time!!
Now, we are all pleasantly ensconced here with them..they'll be here for a week before they head out west to see relatives there...
