Today was a day spent putting together an S10 that'd blown its 4 cylinder head apart. Got a rebuilt head and a few other bits and pieces and now the truck is breathing a second life. Won't be able to make any real money off this one yet as the vehicle is a co-worker's, so I'll have to wait until next week (pay week as we are bi-weekly) to get any money from it. No big deal, I told them that I'd be willing to accept partial payments on it since they are like me and live paycheck to paycheck.
Ken: As far as "transmissions in a bottle", you could try Lucas Transmission Stop Slip, or possibly Seafoam Trans Tune, as they are both products that renew "old/abused" fluid to an extent and should be able to get you buy.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Had to go to town today to get prescriptions filled and to get some things from Wal-Mart. While I was waiting at the pharmacy I chanced to meet up with the chief of the New Llano fire dept. He was telling me there's this set of old blueprints at the New Llano Town Hall that I simply must see. They were for a huge shopping mall that was to be built where a couple of small hotels and a Whaffle House now sit along with some other smaller properties. They had no idea where these blueprints came from or who had them drawn up. He started telling me how the mall would have laid out and I just started laughing. The more he talked about it the more I laughed. He asked me what was so funny and I told him my father designed that back in the early 70's. He was the one who filed the blueprints there. There was a whole set. Floor plan, schematics, electrical components required (all above code), materials to be used, load bearing strengths, everything. Obviously it was never built, for several reasons. The company fronting the money went bankrupt and then the owner of the company died. So there was no money coming from the company and his personal funds couldn't be touched. A contract was being drawn up with the government then the worst thing that could happen happened. All government funding was frozen. Watergate was in full swing. So the plans ended up being abandoned and that's why it's in the Town Hall with no name to match it to. They had been wondering for many years where that came from. Even the former mayors that were still alive didn't know. Today the mystery was solved. Now one funny little thing, every time someone argued that a mall had never been planned for the area they trot out those old blueprints. Argument snubbed!I got all but one of my meds refilled. That one isn't too important, just the one for my prostate condition. Got a call from my father that he needed to be picked at the local auto shop so I went and took care of that. He's still having trouble with the brakes on his RV an d he told them to find the problem and fix it. I stayed at my parents place afterward and found that my free gifts for being selected a Life Member for the History Channel Club had come in. There's quite a pile of 'em too. A credentials portfolio, an LCD travel alarm clock, key chain tag, a guide to historic America, a nice little display book to keep my American history collector's coins in, a nice little reading light that shorts out as soon as it's clipped to a book. I'll figure out how to fix that eventually. A pack of History Channel Club Life Member playing cards, the US constitution and the Bill of Rights in handy pamphlet form, A nice looking walnut trimmed pen and a nice magnifying glass that does a better job than the one I've been using. There's also a Civil War Officers sword letter opener. Last on the list is a magazine holder that when turned around looks like a three volume set of books. It's made to hold History Channel magazines but Walthers catalog will fit in it just as well.I stayed around for dinner, which I cooked. My cooking skills are still top notch. Pork chops, home fries, green beans, cream corn and for dessert blueberry pie.And I did get the new pieces of track cleaned and GLEAMed and I got the trash packed out.

Now all I have to do is clean the kitchen up (as Amy got into the kitchen before me, which stuck me with KP duty). I guess I don't mind too much, KP isn't a bad thing. (and yes we do occasionally fight to get into the kitchen to cook as the other has to clean up). Welp, I guess I'd better get the ball rolling on KP duty, then it'll be off to check out a few things online to help me narrow down railcar purchases for the online businesses along the Dothan Subdivision.

Well all, its about bed time for me, I've done some more digging, it would appear that I need to get a few more tank cars (mostly the short white acid tank cars) for at least two of the industries that I'm going to be at least partially modeling, as they are chemical companies that use various rail-shipped acids....go figure.

Ken - I usually wake up between 2 am and 3 am , day bay day, night for night. It puts a lot of wear on me. Talked to my doc, but there is no physical reason for it. Must be the cinema in my head that keeps me from getting a good night´s sleep.

I still have that Z scale layout i was given. I have been trying to collect ideas of what to do with it. I hate to dismantle it and build something new out of it. but I positively have no room to put it up. It´s now resting in the attic, which is not a good place to store it.

Had a bit of a…....don’t know whatcha call it, but fire department was meandering around town telling people to stay inside. Turns out a truck at the Love’s hauling some kind of industrial chemical they said, called ethyl somethin-late, was leaking and they evacuated the truck stop (Love’s with a McDonald’s) and the Huddle house. Those are on the other side of the Mighty Double Nickel from town, but the wind was blowing towards us. Naturally. Must have been something nasty. They said “small leak” on the news and they evacuated within a quarter mile and had people in Williamsville stay inside and west of the tracks (Love's is west of town) extinguish all items utilizing a flame to include pilot lights. Now the RR tracks are probably a mile away from the Love’s and I realize they build in a cushion, but it didn’t sound like the truck burst open, just a little leak. All is well now and I believe by about oh, maybe 10-ish last night they said just try not to hang out outside if you don't have to.
And here the major concern 5,6, 7 or however many years ago it’s been, with having a truck stop across the Interstate was the probability, get this, “the high probability of prostitutes making their way uptown and hanging out on the boulevard”. Oh I still laugh so hard my sides hurt whenever I think of that. Well, needless to say we have not noticed anything out of sorts in town. They even put up fancy street lights uptown to draw them in (or so some of us claim). Still no luck. It’s just not that easy to justify a Vice Division in a town like Williamsville I tell you what. Even if the Mayors Nephew is looking for a job. The Traffic Division and the Major Crimes division (anything missing or damaged over $27.50) pretty much takes both officers. The Chief he doubles up with whatever needs done, most times it’s monitoring the social media forms for any potential attacks against the good citizens of Williamsville and monitor the activities of the youth who are silly enough to be his "friend" then plan someting on the site. That has happened. No one said a future crimnal is really bright. Or he's looking for a new Elf suit for when Santa comes on the 3rd. Yup. Chief is also the Town Elf. (inhales deep) Yes-er we are pre-tty well protected for somewhere around 10- 20 hours a day, 4 or 5 days a week sometimes six, here in our little Hamlet. Why do we even have locks at all. (shakes head)

60F with rain predicted today - no s**w storm to that is good. Lots of papers to catch up on and billings so it'll be a while before I can poke my head into the shop. Still have transmissions apart and a project to catch up on but billings come first.
Rob - an N scale "soylent green" factory in the distance will hide the awful truth. You could use a bit of N scale track to service it off in the distance as well.
Ulrich - can you make a flip panel out of the Z scale layout so it is a desk or w..ktable when not in use ? A side benefit would be having to clear the panel to flip it though it seems neatness is not an issue for you.
Jeff - that's a good story. Sort of a secret subdivision. Did the plans get approved ever? We found out in Danbury that an approval is good forever and had a company trying tpo put a waste disposal transfer facility into the middle of a residential area based on an age old approval. Public outcry eventually convinced the company to locate elsewhere but it was a near thing. I should have some time this week to sort out some stuff per previous discussions. The storm and subsequent power outage put a cramp on that project.

Back at w**k today. The temp is supposed to be 86 F and humid today. The thing about FL weather is that if you don't like it give it a week and it will change...usually for the worse. MOH picked up the stuff I needed from the LHS yesterday so I am set for rebuilding the removed track. I think on Wednesday (short shift) I will glue down the WS risers so they are ready to go on Friday.
I got a call from my MD office yesterday and he wants to see me on Monday to go over the results. He must of found something or the office would of told me it was clear. MOH has a appointment with the Menier's specialist/surgeon on Tuesday to talk about options for her.
I'm going to try to attend Prototype Rails in Cocoa Beach on Jan 5th. I attended last year and I loved it. This year I feel more comfortable in my modeling abilities. I also have a friend at work trying to convince me to go with him in March to Gainesville for the NHRA Gatornationals (not a hard sell).

Got back to sleep around 4:30 AM. Feel OK this morning.
What kept going through my mind last night was the car I bought. Door hinge pins are shot, you cannot close the door from the inside. Called the local Ford Dealership and was told you could not replaces the bushing and pins, you had to buy the whole hinge set. $75.00 for upper and $95.00 for the lower one plus they are a real pain calling for around 2.5 hours labor. So I would be looking at $420.00!
But 10 years ago on my Blue Town Car we did just replaces the pins. Parts guy from Sun Set Ford sold us a set from I think a 90 Thunderbird and they worked fine. Since I could not sleep I started digging around on the internet. There are kits made for the car, will cost me around $30.00 or less in parts.
Berry The Daytona pictures was take in Creative Industries parking lot if my memory is correct. They actually made the Daytona's for Dodge. Dodge ship them new Charger R/T's and then the nose, rear window, rear slug, trunk, wing, fenders and hood's where added.
Bama Thank for the advices. I have heard of both, I tried the sea-foam in my Daytona and it did not help. But, it was really far gone. (stopped the slipping by using Ford's Trans fluid) This car on he other hand is not slipping, so either may help extend the life of it's transmission.
Otto Boy I understand about having to mess with unemployment! Sure glad I am out from under there thumb.
Ulrich Hum, sounds like what happen last year at the TV Station. Hope this time it works out. Have you even ran the Z Scale Layout? Boy that is a lot in a small spaces.

Got a Dr.s Apt. to have the left side lumbar nerves Radio Frequency Fried so I will have some more pain relief there. I hope. The right side is OK. I will never be pain free or without the strong narcotic pain relievers, but at least I can get some chores done now.
MOH has 2 sets of interviews on Thursday to follow up Monday's interview to decide if more training is warranted which will guarantee better options for the two interviews on THursday. Problem is MOH had requested electronically for today off to drive me as I can't drive after the Apt. and was actually scheduled to w*rk today. SInce MOH had electronic proof was approved for today off 5 weeks ago, the Dept. manager had to honor that and gave MOH thursday to work instead of today. Now its a mess as the two sets of interviews will eat up a lot fo w*rking time on thursday for MOH to be away from the Dept. and the Dept. manager- who just took over- is NOT happy. SHe will try to arange somehting for MOH to do the interviews on thursday and maybe w*rk FRIday {MOH's day off now} instead. GOod luck with THAT.
Keep fingers and toes and eyes crossed THAT 1} MOH gets the approval from yesterday's interview for the additional training and is notified of such by tomorrow at W*RK, and 2} that MOH gets one of the several positions applied for and interviews for on THursday!!!! Please!!!
If MOH can tell them Thursday will be getting the additional training needed, that will bolster the qualifications, as MOH is slightly barely underqualified, but SHOULD have HAD the proper training if the current manager wasn't such a >>#**@^&^ about it, even when told by his boss's boss to provide the necessary training to MOH way back in JULY. {substitute whatever NICE word you would like in there-this is a CLEAN site}.
The afternoon interviews for 4 positions will be with HR specialist and Said >>#**@^&^ manager- so may be doubtful MOH gets a higher new position with him?!? Unless He has been told by HIS Boss to give MOH the training by Thursday AFternoon.
Keep Fingers, toes and eyeballs crossed PLEASE!!! MOH is NERVOUS and STRESSED as it is, and now more so!!!

***J.R., but doing the Soylent Green plant in HO scale would allow me to expose the truth. That and detailing such an operation would be rather amusing. Oh, and instead of what was to be a carnival parking area, I can place a couple of those trucks with the shovels/loaders scooping up a crowd of people. Would need to find the right looking police to place along side those trucks. Need to find what I did with that movie and watch it again to refresh my memory. Can't remember if they were modified dump trucks or garbage trucks!?!

Ken - it´s actually a spin-off of that TV station thing. The two partners have now separated and the guy who owns it turned the business into a marketing consulting & media place. Business is picking up, so the perspective is not too bad. In the long run, the time I have so far invested, will be rewarded in form of shares. I have that in writing

But, the new Mayor is much more business oriented and will cut city costs, so I figure the business ladies will probably be back in town shortly...... Time will tell!

I have been dealing with stuff already today. Got an email from a friend who is on the MLK Committee. A young man (7 or 8 years old) just passed away after a bout with a rare cancer. Due to the number of people that will be attending his funeral (his family belongs to a small black church here in town) it will be held in our church tomorrow. They will need to be able to play some CDs during the service so I will be helping to set that up for them and show whoever will be doing sound (could end up being me) how to use the equipment. I called the pharmacy to order refills of a couple prescriptions. Their is also a bunch of Rx renewals sent in from mt doctor there as well. The pharmacist checked on found all the things needed and then i advised him I will give him all new insurance info when I pick them up. His reaction (although he was very polite) was Grrrrrrrrrrrrr! He had spent a couple hours on the phone to the insurance company yesterday getting it all straightened out.... Took him several phone calls to different people to accomplish. He said, "I don't need to see your cards as I have everything in our database now!" Ain't modern life fun?!

WEll, teh nerve frying is over. Had one nerve that caught my leg nerve and had it twitching and jumping like a Mexican Jumping bean all over the table!!! DR. had to hold it down! Now it's "twinged". Shouldn't have felt that there! but sometiem when a nerve is pinched it can affect down to the leg and I DO get sciatic like affects from time to time. So now time to keep legs up and rest. as I am a bit wobbly on the legs.
Pizza's for dinner...easy to cook.
