I drove form Geneva to Canandaigua and back again in my sisters Rambler American (Hardtop)...  had a little 6 in it, but was a small car with a dual carberator.

That sounds just like my maternal grandmothers 66 Rambler American to a T. It finally died in the mid 80's.

 Evening Fellow Dinners!

Flo, I take a Beer in a frosted Summit Speed Shop Mug. You guys are getting me thinking about fast cars again. Whistling

The Charger with 2.73 rear gears and with the blower could top out around 155 to 160 MPH with out doing the math.

Engine was built to take 7000 RPM's but with the cam the power would be falling off real bad. But after driving it 135 MPH with the old 440, I think that would be my limit. Front end was felling real lite.

Speaking of Cars! Simon is taking me to pick up the new Town Car Monday. Only thing that will stop me from buying it is if the transmission fluid is burnt. Or if the car is not in the condition I was told it is in.

Wont be driving over 65 MPH, that you can count on.

Little day dreaming now. If work, works out and te help on the house goes the way I hope I looking for another Honda CBX like the one I had.

There still out there with low mileage but they cost a pretty penny. My was stolen, only reason I don't still have it.

T White Sorry to hear about your health problems but great to see you back in the dinner! How about some pictures of the new engine?

Rob Did you check your PM's lately?

Well need to run, have a lot to do before Simon picks me up. So I need to get going.

The glue on the turnout has dried enough that I was able to vacuum up the loose ballast. In the photo the ballast looks uneven but in actuality the embankment is somewhat steep and the ground near the track is rough and rises up here and there. Sometime tomorrow I'll get back in there IF my back isn't hurting too badly and clean the track the GLEAM it.

Well my back is hurting bad right between the shoulder blades so I'm going to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Hello and good night every one. I worked on the layout for a few hours on Saturday morning. Then I went to a train show at our fairgrounds, The club I belong to put on three 1 hour clinics and a few members of our crew helped some boy scouts with their MRR merit badges. The clinics were on building scenery with foam. and soldiering, and a master model builder from our group did a great clinic on weathering, Ray, Mark evans is this fellows name and he has several different techniques one of them is using Derwent water color artist pencils similar to the technique you are doing on your power house. some times he ads a little water with a wet paint brush and other times just the pencils (dry)When he is done with the pencils he gives  them a couple of coats of acrylic clear coat  or dull coat, sprayed with his air brush to seal the pencil, He said he uses Model master brand, He also mentioned he never uses Testors dull coat in a spray can. He says it goes on to thick/heavy. He also said he holds his air brush way back when applying a couple of very light coats.I wish I was better on a computer I would love to show you all his stuff. He models a narrow gauge Durango Silverton railroad, he is an amazing modeler, Maybe if any of you are interested you can find him with an online search? If their is anyone interested let me know and I will get his website from my club and post a link, Hope that is a help to some of you. Today was spent cleaning, raking leaves and I washed our car and truck I mopped the garage and  now I am Beat, Time to call it a day. Back to the the salt mine at 05:30. See you all later.   Thayne.

Good Morning!! Coffee and a Denver Omelet please. Thanks.

A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66.

Back to normal day. Church Bookwork this morning, lunch, then Honey Do’s until Brenda get’s off w**k then in to Golden Corral. Free buffet for all vets all day. The Bonanza in Lincoln is doing the same thing, but we just ate there Saturday. It is really nice of these folks, and I’m sure there are others around the country as well, to do this for Americas Freedom Fighters.

Sue- Brenda has the PC Pizza Stone too. It does make a world of difference and we like it. Of course we have the Pizza Pizzaz now so the stone is…..?? Pampered Chef does have some nice stuff. Don’t know if I told you last time but nice layout and I love your choice for the soundtrack.

Rob- You know you are also in my prayers. I know things have to get done, but be as careful as you can. We certainly don’t want you ending up in the horsepiddle.

Don’t worry G, YOH is in my prayers for the jobs. I may not always say it, but whenever anyone has a situation they are put on the list whether I mention it or not.

WHOA! That car Barry posted this morning would be soooooo COOL to have. I’d love to buzz around Williamsville in that. YesCool

Welp, gotta few things to do around here before starting my adventurous day.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

EDIT: Have you ever looked into the eyes on the woman driving/sitting in that Messerschmidt thing? Kinda scary creepy if you ask me.

Goood Afternoon!

It´s past lunchtime, but I am still hungry!

Janie, a Barry-sized burger & fries, plus a large mug of coffee, please.

T´was icy cold this morning, temps at 25F are not my cup of tea, yet. Still waiting for summer to come, may have missed it Whistling

Todd - it´s a Messerschmitt, not a Me 262 fighter, but their newest development of post-war products of the 1950´s. They had a lot of cabin covers left over from their war fighter plane production, which they turned into civilian use by building these funny looking road vehicles.

The first versions did not have a reverse gear - you had to turn it by hand!

Have a good time!

Good morning. It's 64° with some clouds and fog. The high will be 79° and it will be mostly cloudy. There's a 10% chance of rain.

Sometime today I'll be cleaning the newly installed and ballasted pieces of track on the east side of the layout. Afterward I'll GLEAM them and that area will be done. Other than that all that needs to be done is packing out the trash.

Good morning, Chloe. Coffee and a cinnamon roll, please.

I have more cleaning scheduled today.   Friday,  I have the ladies from work out for a wreath party.  It is hard to believe that the Christmas season is around the corner.  I bring in the boughs and trim them so they are close to usable size.  The garage smells great.

We cleaned off the layout, and glued in a tunnel portal yesterday.  Usually, I operate the layout for the ladies.  It is amazing that they are interested.   I think the Mallet will be my choice this time.

Larry thanks you for the compliments on the video.

Garry,  We are enjoying your photos.  The semi stuck under the bridge reminds me of a Bill Engvall (SP) joke.LaughLaughLaugh

Todd,  Thanks for the kind words on the layout.  Have fun at the PC party.Laugh

 Morning Fellow Dinners!

Flo, just a cup of coffee please.

Going to be a busy day today. Getting ready to do some running. Have to pick up some cash so i can but the new car, stop by Auto Stupid and pick up some stop leak. New car does have a small radiator leak, does not sound to bad so I am going to drive it home, I hope. Whistling Going to take 3 gallons of water to be on the safe side. Nice thing about working for NTB is I get a good sizes discount on parts. Radiator at Auto Stupid is $140.00, my cost from N.A.P.A is $85.00.

Sue will be glad when this is done, Sue is driving me nuts about wanting to take are only car when I have things I need to get done, like this morning. She wanted to leave the house at 9:00 AM, well I need to leave the house at about the same time. Guess I cannot blame her, she has not had her own car now for around 6 months.

 See you all later, Ken

At least you are out there doing it.  Since we don't have any large animals at this time, it is too easy to walk by and think,  "I should replace that post.  Maybe another day."  It just isn't an emergency.  Your critters are making you check things regularly.

Good mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a breakfast bagel with bacon and cheese along with my usual dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug.  Thank you Ma'am.

Already spent part of the morning over in the Benefits office at school straightening out the Medicare card, Suplimental F, and prescription coverage before heading to my Drs. Appt, this afternoon.  Only took the lady who handles it at school 4 phone calls before actually talking with a human......  Turns out the Part F and Prescription cards have been pointed to my SSN all along but my first Medicare card was under my late wife's SSN.  So I expect to be getting threatening letters from the 2 medical offices I have already given the old card to soon.....  I may be able able to head them off at the pass when I go the Dr's Appt. today and get my allergy shot later this week.

Lion, Manét wants to know if your kitty cat is cuddly like he is?

Oh, and TomW, he also says hi to Uff-da and Spooky.....

Thayne, thanks for the info.  I like how the technique is turning out on the power house so far.  I do beive that the final step is a light coat of Dullcoat over the entire building, so it sounds like what he is doing is basically the same thing.  Even my sister (the "arteest") likes the look of the building so far.

I will be spending most of today getting the place straightened up and ready to have more Scouts come over to see the Seneca Lake, Ontario, & Western RR tonight.  There will be either 4 or 5 here.  (Have to look up who is coming when...  Hopefully I will have a few more earning the MB tonight.  I also have to get 25 of the Division newsletters collated and ready to mail out.

I'll stop back in later.

Good morning everyone from SunnyCal.  Mild weather out here for most of the week, then it's supposed to take a big dip with an Alaskan front moving down.  Snow in the Sierra, looks like a White Thanksgiving ahead.  I kind of figured on that, as I said, Spooky and Uff-Dah look like Yaks with their winter coats.

I'm still having to deal with the fact that it's Monday and I don't have to be at school.  Sigh Confused

Have to take Chester, the 'new addition' over to the Vet this morning to get his bandage changed on his forepaw.  Little critter was tearing at it last night (must itch like Hell) so I put his Elizabethan Collar on.  Not a Happy Camper, that little guy.  Instead of hissing, he just sulks.

Goes to show you how long it's been since I've done anything on the layout--went to my decal sheet repository to change out the number on one of my #1711's, and can't find the darned things.  I remember cleaning the garage during late summer, so I must have moved a lot of stuff SOMEWHERE--so back out there today to search again.

Der: That roof rake on the house looks just fine for out here--I think every older house in Truckee looks like that just to keep the snow off, LOL!   Hey, Penny is a cutie--talk about expressive EYES!

Sue:  Good plan there--ALWAYS run a Mallet for company, LOL!  All those little wheels and rods seem to fascinate them.  The 'busier' the better, I've found.   Reminds me of last year, a couple of my students came by to see the layout and I got the usual question from one of them: "How fast will it go?"  and the other student (who reminds me of Sheldon on "Big Bang Theory") just stared at him and said, "How fast do you WANT it to go, stupid?  The whole thing's built on the side of a CLIFF!"

Ray:  Manet has gained a few pounds since last I saw him.   He looks about the same size as Uff-Dah, only without all the long hair.  Handsome little beastie, that!   Now if I could only talk either Spooky or the Viking into being a lap cat, I'd be a Happy Camper, but those two breeds are noted for liking to be BY you, but not ON you.

Well, time to feed the beasties and get Chester ready for his vet visit.  Then come home and look for that blasted DECAL SHEET!   To all who requested:  I promise photos of the new lady this week.  Really.

Best to all, prayers to those in need.

Tom

Lion, Manét wants to know if your kitty cat is cuddly like he is?

Jerry looks just so cuddly, but the zookeeper will not let anybody find out.
They tried to mate him with a nice female from Minot, but all she ever got out of the deal was stitches.

The tigers are very cuddly, or so I should think, but the *are* wild animals. The zookeeper says that Ramu will lick you to death, but you would still be just as dead.

Here is one of the kitties who will cuddle with you.

Ulrich, I haven't seen one of those for 50 years.  Back in high school at the end of the '50s one of the cool kids had one of those and drove it to school.  It sure got a lot of attention from the students.  One time one of the students who was quite large and very strong held onto the back end when the driver tried to move and he wasn't going anywhere.  Those cars sure didn't weigh much.  They probably didn't go very fast and I'm sure they got great mileage.  Thanks for bringing back an old high school memory.

Bob - the top version had about 20 hp and a top speed of 75 mph. Fuel consumption was equal to a VW Rabbit of recent manufacture - not really a good value, given to what the VW offers in terms of performance.

Coffee refill, please.

On the way back from running some required errands today, a squirrel leapt out in front of the car and there wasn't a darn thing I could do about it. Haven't had that happen in a long time. Poor little critter.

Did some organizing down in the train room today. My goal is to get most of the stuff off the floor and into the book case. This could still be a long term project, determined by energy levels. At least it is progress.

Will be in a corner booth awhile. Rob

Afternoon folks!

Flo, I'll have a RBF to tide me over to dinner.  I'll go keep Rob company in the Corner Booth for a while.  I see squirrel is on the menu for tonight again....

I always hate it when those little critters scoot out in front of the car and you have no time to react Rob.  I always feel guilty too.........  At least it wasn't someones cat or dog.

Back from the Doctors office.  He was quite pleased with all my blood work and everything else checked out OK.  I told him I feel better now than I have in years.  My first question to him was, "OK, whose blood was used for the tests?"  My blood pressure was up a bit (148/80) but THAT was explainable by my primarily eating salt yesterday.  My Beef on Weck had at least 1/4" of pure salt on top of the weck.  And I ate it all!   Then I downed a bag of BBQ potato chips, and then wolfed down 3 pieces of pepperoni pizza for supper at my son's house....  probably had 10,000mg of salt yesterday.  He took my BP agian when he was checking me out.  Only got as far as the high number and he deflated the cuff.  Said it was down to 138 by then....  I also have lost 15 lbs according to their scales... and I was up 5 lbs on my scales this morning.  I did mention all the salt yesterday....

Tiny cars....  I had a friend in High School who got himself a DAF 600.  If you had enough time, you could get it to go almost 50mph IIRC.  Of course THAT was with 4 or 5 people in the little thing.   Remember the clowns at the thrill shows back then where 10 or 12 clowns would get our of a tiny little car?  I always liked it when the announcer would say, "Your having problems with the car?  Oh, the fan doesn't fan, the carburetor doesn't carburate, and the pistons don't........ uh, the pistons don't work either..."

Just taking a break from cleaning and getting everything ready for the Scouts visit tonight.

OK, back to w*rk!

Tom,  The mallet is my  favorite.  I recorded it for the ring tone on my cell.  If I am quick, I can answer it while it is still chuffing.  No one knows what that sound was.

Saturday is the big Swap meet/ train show in Puyallup.  We have a list going.

Good Evening All,

Drove back from Daytona yesterday afternoon and today. Took the direct route as we are supposed to be getting s**w tonight. According to the electronics, I averaged 73 mph and 36.5 mpg. Of course that doesn't count the stops every two hours or so or the stay in Selma NC last night. The weekend went well with three second place finishes in the enduro and both sprint races to Andy Wallace and Bill Adam in another Audi R-8 (and they are both ex-pro drivers of some note). Got the electronics I went down to sort out to work mostly so a pretty good trip in all. We went to the awards dinner Saturday and Trais our driver won both the BOSS series championship (with his Indy Lights car) and the endurance championship with the R-8. Very cool.

Off to the house to see what's up there.  CUL, J.R.

 Evening Folks!

 Flo, Beer Please.

Had a great drive with Simon to pick up the new to me Town Car. While it was a long drive, time flew for me. I am very lucky to have a friend like Simon! He all so pointed out the fact that for 20 years I have been driving past a old round house remains and turntable? When he pointed them out, I was surprised. But his SUV higher than my cars.

Buyer Beware. I did buy the 1994 Town Car today, hope it was the right thing to do. Whistling Was told the car looks like new and the only thing wrong was a leak was small leak from the radiator and door hinge pins where bad.

Well, for 197,000 miles the car look OK. Paint is fading on the bumpers and car needs a buffing. There is still life in the paint.and a good buffing should bring back a good shine. What I was not told is there is the left rear dogleg is rusted away. Hum, did not come that way.

Transmission Fluid is burnt. For now it is shifting OK. I just hope it makes it for a few months before I have to replaces it. I got the price down from $995.00 to $735.00, I felt like Rick from Pawn Stars. Laugh

 I will give you $700.00

 How about $875.00?

 I will give you $700.00

 How about $850.00?

 I will give you $700.00

 How about $800.00?

No, I will give you $700.00

 Can you go $750.00?

 No, $700.00

 $735.00?

OK, $35.00 won't kill me, Done.

Car need shocks but rode pretty good, shocks and new front springs will help. Engine is quite and if the electronic are correct it is getting 30 MPG. Car never did lose any water and ran cool.

Todd, JR and others. While I don't think you can rebuild a transmission from a can. Any ideas on what I can use to get a few more miles out of the transmission before the rebuild?

See you all Tuesday before work.

Veggie w/ fruit smoothie, please.

***Ken, hope the new car works out well for you.

***J.R., CONGRATS on the great showing.

***Sue, you guys enjoy the train show in Puyallup. It's been many years since I've been there. How big a show is it?

Curious, how many "corner booths" are in this Dining car? I did enjoy all the company.

Pickup truck refused to start again today. Took a good dozen or more tries, letting it sit after the first 6 or so, before it fainlly started. Parked it where the extension card could reach, just incase. Need it to move hay around the farm tomorrow. Gurrrr!

TRAINS: OK, already decided on moving the Soylent Green plant to the (HO) layout. With that change, I am going to make the (N) layout more scenic and a tad less industrial. Any of you familiar with the Danbury Mint miniature farms? They are very close to N scale in size. Wife had 3 of them in a cabinet. Care to guess where they are going to end up?

Not much else to report on. Exhausted again tonight and will be turning in early. Hope to be back in here tomorrow. Good night! Rob
