This morning I did a little work on ex-PRR GP9 7270. I removed the horns from the cab roof and relocated one to the center of the end of the short hood. The other one was relocated to the left side of the long hood just forward of the dynamic brake. Later today I intend to start on the job of wiring my two Bachmann GP7's together in permanent consist.

Hi Dusty,

Welcome to the best diner in the world. This place is being moved to a new location each month, and after many stationary locations somewhere in the US and a tour throughout that NOB country, I´d thought it to be nice to invite you all over to a tour throughout my country. The best of it - you don´t need any passports, tickets and, foremost, no $$$ to enjoy the trip.

So, hop on board and follow me to some spectacular and thrilling places.

Sir Madog

OK then Sir Madog I'll tag along with  you for now but even virtual air sick aint fun. Just like fresh cream from the cow on a bumpy road I just don't travel well. Germany looks real nice but lots of mountains so lets take the tour now I've had breakfast the waitress said no grits but the bacon tasted great and so was the coffee. Maybe I can get buscuits tomorrow or the next day. I like the way she talks too like the lady that sang Lillie Marlane on that old record of my Dads before it got melted in the sun.

I like all that stuff you tell me I don't need because I don't have any of it any hoo.

How long will we all be over there or here, If I'm away overseas too long the Mrs will start to worry about me being OK and looking after myself?

So long

Dusty.

GMTRacing

Welcome Dusty,

And no worries mate. Since it's virtual Germany your virtual passport will do just fine. And if that still doesn't comfort you, just click your heels together and repeat three times "There's no place like home, there's no place like home....."Smile, Wink & Grin.   J.R.

Ok, thanks for the welcome, J.R. Now I'm over here I just hope that I can get back home again without too much trouble but I'll try what you say in a few days when I need to be getting back home again. I'm starting to miss the grandbabies already. If I follow Sir Madog around for a while I should be OK. The waitress speaks American so that is a blessing too.

So long.

Dusty.

Welcome Dusty Solo!! Welcome-this virtual diner does have a habit of traveling around..it sort of developed this habit over the past little while due to the once a month moves that took hold due to the space limitations that the railyard ended up with...Big Smile In this diner you can find any of the delectable food items and not gain a single pound...oh...and don't mind certain characters who will attempt to tell you that I have a predilection for pie tossing.....I never did those things....Whistling

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Barry, we are having an Indian Summer here as well...  Only problem is THAT is supposed to happen after a killing frost.  I'm still bringing in produce from the garden.  Usually I am cleaning up the remains of the garden by now.

Right now Ray, I took in some more corn from our corn field as well...having some of it tonight with our turkey...the weather is forecasting that we are looking at a milder than normal winter this year as well..should be just peachy..lots of cold rain then....Confused

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good afternoon...

It has retained an interesting milky sky here with a tinge of stickiness as well..79F out right now...

I need to find a few things again in my trainroom...Huh?..I seem to have a black hole in here that forms spontaneously and swallows things up whole meal......Whistling

Chloe, I'll have a burger and fries combo and a glass of OJ...yes..OJ...oh and a coffee as well please...I'll be at the corner booth looking over the magazines here....

PLEASE HELP!!! Ok, I turn the key to the on position, push my newly installed starter button, truck starts right up and then immediately shuts back off???Dunce

My wife wondered if there was a security device to prohibit it from running? It's a 2000 chevy 2500 pickup (actually says 1999 on the door sticker). Rob

Rob,

The only possible security system I know of is the one protecting the radio (if installed). It shouldn't keep the truck from running. Have you checked the starter and/or ignition relay (located in the underhood electrical center usually next to thew brake master cylinder)? I would also check the fusible links also under the hood. You will need at least a continuity tester ((test light) or a test meter. What motor, dual or single fuel tank ?

When the truck starts does it die as soon as you release the starter button? If you hold the starter button on for a second or so after the motor fires does it keep running?

***J.R. YesCool It lives!!! I switched the two identical Relays (starter & AC), then held the starter button an extra couple seconds and "this time", it breathed life and kept breathing. I checked the AC and it works, so the relays are both good. Now, it still took me several tries to get it re-started after turing the engine off. Hope this is just because it's been sitting and not going to be an ongoing reliability issue!?! Letting it "run" now awhile. Fingers crossed! Thanks! -Rob

Hello to Dusty! Welcome! Welcome

JR .. I'm glad you have time to visit. I think Rob is too.

Rob ... I hope the truck keeps running. If not you may have to shoot it.

Ulrich ... You pictures continue to be impressive! Thanks for sharing.

Barry .. Your old photos are impressive. I bet the last one with palm trees is not London, Ontario.

Sue.... I see someone up high climbing the big rock. Is that you? You and your friends had better be careful there.

I have been making plaster messes on the layout lately. Yucky, but fun.

Rob,

Good ! It sounds like you may have some additional issues there but I'd probably spring for a new relay at some point just in case. Can't hurt to keep it in the glove box until needed and I don't think they're too expensive. Most of the tests you can do require pressure gauges and adaptors and multimeters so lets just hope for the best for now. Perhaps Todd or Bama who are more familiar with these fiendish new devices can give you more better advice at some point. I'm just glad it's functioning at some level.   J.R.

Hey guys.

Solo, welcome to the diner. come on in and stay a while.

Rob- What do you mean you had to try several times to restart it after it warmed up? did the starter not engage or would it just not turn over or fire?

Diner- Best part is not having to deal with the TSA agents or flying for that matter

Evening All,

Not much happening this way tonight. MOH is at a quilters meeting so it was left over pizza for dinner. I go back to w**k tomorrow. I spent around 4.5 hours today on the roundhouse. I sprayed Matte Finish on everything and glued together the 2 sided walls, window frames and panes of glass. I also put together the smoke exhausts. Either Friday or Sunday I will glue the tracks into the floor.

Dusty-Welcome. Put your feet up and stay a spell.

Rob- Glad to hear your truck is running again.

TSF- Good to hear from you again.

Everyone have a good night.

***It had not really warmed up yet. That said, it would turn over and try to run but wouldn't catch/continue to run. Almost like it wasn't getting enough gas or something. It has been sitting a few weeks or so now. Hopefully some run time and fresh gas will cure this!?! It's just a farm truck used twice a month and on the farm for moving stuff, so it doesn't have to perform well, as long as it performs OK. Will probably leave the engine running when far from home, except to fill up at the gas station. Evening all!

Scrambled eggs but with pasture raised sausage, jalapenos, and shredded cheese. Sliced local heirloom tomato on the side, and a couple samosas (seriously good samosas with eggs is awesome!). To drink, some coconut milk as per usual.

After figuring out modelling the 1949 Crescent is not for me, I still had a Walthers Budd Diner and three fluted side Walthers 4140 10/6 Pullmans. The N&W didn't have cars like them, but with a change of sides, working on adding some detail parts and I will have four N&W sleepers! I'll be working on that soon enough.

Guten Abend meine Freunde!

Just a cup of decaf for me tonight.

I have had a busy day again....  Finished mowing the lawn, then went to the Allergist to be made into a pin cushion.  Had about 50 injections on my back....  Most you hardly feel as they are put just under the skin.  I will hear in a few days about the new mix and when I should start getting built up again.  Late afternoon I got out the string trimmer and leveled the weeds and vines in the garden as well as trimmed around the poles and trees as usual.  Put up the Whistle post sign today!  Looks pretty good!  I'll try to get a photo tomorrow.

I called the guy who is supposed to be installing the new sink and faucet in the kitchen...  He keeps calling me at 7:30AM....  In the Morning!!! Whistling  I left him a message to call me at some time of the day when I am awake and can hear the phone when it rings!  He called me back tonight.  Say's he will be here at 8:30 Thursday morning....  Guess I better set my alarm.  The one designed to wake the dead!  The one that even totally deaf people can hear (like me).

Got a bit more done on the scenery w*rk tonight .  Of course, I ran out of plaster cloth, so I will be making a trip to the LHS tomorrow.  I also cut and stained the wood for 3 more grade crossings in the area.  I should be doing plaster and paint tomorrow, then I can install the grade crossings.  I ordered the Design Preservations Powerhouse tonight.  With some modifications it should be able to be fitted into the area on the peninsula near the quarry.  Did a bit of research and found THAT small power generation plants were quite common during the first part of the 20th. century and were designed to fit the needs of a specific industry.

See we got a new face here.  Joined the tour mid stream I guess, but THAT is great.  (Psst, Barry, whats his name?)  Oh!  Dusty, huh?  Well, Hi Dusty, Welcome!  Good to have you along with us.  You have to speak up around me!  I was  a music teacher for way too long......  What,  Already got hearing aids.  Huh?  Oh, do I want some Lemonade?  Ah, thanks, but I'll stick with my decaf.

I see Galaxy left early tonight.  Probably jet lag got to him.  What is THAT racket outside?  What?  Rob got his truck started.  That's great Rob!

Catch everyone in the morning.  Can't wait to see what Ulrich has in store for us!

Since I recieved a squirrel with a Cardinals T-shirt in my e-mail, (jokester) I will say GO RANGERS!!!

Dusty Solo- Welcome to the diner.

Thayne- Sometimes sticking with a job has it's perks doesn't it?

Rob- Ain't got no idee. The starter relay shouldn't shut the truck off I wouldn't think. But who knows on them things anymore. In fact, I would think you bypassed it, so to speak, with your button. I can't remember what year it was but if you have one of those Vortec engines the fuel pressure has GOT to be like at least 60psi or it will not run. Anythig less and it won't. Can't remember the exact pressure, but it's up there. It could be that it sat for long enough you have to let the cobs get blown out and all the juices cleared. I would think it'll come out of it.

Evening all, I'll have a large hot chocolate with a slice of Oreo pie please.

Today was a day off from w**k, which would normally be filled with adventure and fun, but I absolutely did NOTHING!  I was a lazy bum all day long!  Been raining off and on all day, so that contributed to my laziness.

Rob:  Glad you were able to get the truck running.  If you need some more help, shoot me a line and I'll see what I can dig up for you.  As far as fuel pressure is concerned, you need 54 psi to start, and running should be right at 50psi, any higher won't necessarily hurt, but any lower will cause issues with idling.  Of course, if you need/want in-person help then I'll see what I can do to "field trip" my way up there on a day off. (seeing as I'm only a few hours away at most)

Well, I am glad that I got caught up on things around here, I was kinda worried that I was going to have the month pass me by before I could get back into the door and catch up.

Later taters!

 Morning Fellow Dinners.

 Flo Coffee please

Can you get sick from taking a test? Whistling Yesterday after I left the dinner I took the On Line Aptitude Test to be a Body Shop Manager. I have taken a few of these, but this one was unreal! I started the test at around 9:30 AM and it took till 1:30 PM to finishes it! I did take a few bathroom breaks and had a few phone calls so maybe take a half hour out of the total time. But still that would be 3.5 hours!

It had 2 Separate Aptitude Test, 2 Vocabulary Test and 2 Math Test. Then at the end, there was a test about how you feel about using drugs and stealing from the company you work for! That one had 120 questions by it self.

I was wore out after I got done with it and laid down, felt a little warm. Woke up at 2:30 PM and I was hot. I had a 100.8 temperature? Took 2 Ibuprofen and laid back down till 4:00 PM, time to take Tiffany to the vet.

Tiffany and the Vet. Well we did not get any bad news, pretty much what we expected. Vet seems to think Tiff has gotten some Arthritis in the right front leg now. Said her shoulder seems a little stiff and could feel crunching in her knee. Vet added a new medication for Arthritis and said call back in a week and tell her how Tiff is doing. Heart mummer was still the same as last year. So over all for being all most 17, she is not doing to bad.

For the new dinners, Tiffany is the white dog.

Got home around 6:30 Pm, ate and went to sleep. Did not even feel like having a Beer last night.

I am tired this morning but do not feel like I have a temperature, so hopefully I feel OK today. Do have a Phone Interview For A Job today at 1:30 PM. It is for selling used car's at a Buy Here Pay Here lot. In the St Louis area there getting to be quit a few of Higher end Buy Here Pay Here lots, this is one of them. While I hated the last Car Salesman job I had (cheating customers) at leas with a Buy Here Lot, the people know up front they are paying more due to poor credit.

Well I just turned on the Train's, first time in 2 days. Think that is about the longest I have gone in 6 years.

  See you all later.
