Guten Morgen!

I'll have the Waffle with Maple Syrup, cherries, and whipped cream along with a cup of fresh brewed dark roast coffee, Bitte!

Day has just started and already several "emergencies have found me.  Woke up to 2 different emergency emails from church....  The main mic on the podium has a bad hum as of last Sunday.  They need it for a memorial service for on Friday morning....  Our Pastor Emeritus passed away last weekend (he was 87) and they have to have a podium mic w*rking!  They are also finally going to get around to putting up the new speakers in our echo chamber Social Hall this coming weekend.  I already told the lady in charge of the properties committee I was not available until after the Fall Meet....Sigh Last I heard we were going to do it on the 29th.  They can't find the drawing I think was made of the space with the placement of the 4 speakers.  Looks like I will be going over to church today.

Thayne, PC ties are made out of PC Board.  The stuff with copper plate on both sides and insulated with fiberglass in between.  It is the stuff they make circuit boards from.  Fast Tracks makes them all set up up for hand laying track and turnouts.  http://www.handlaidtrack.com/Fast-Tracks-PC-Board-Ties-s/38.htm

Ken, I hope everything turns out OK for Tiff.  She is a very old girl......

I best get moving!  Going to be a busy day.

I just finished putting the Athearn Dow Corning covered hopper together. Being it was glued together with super glue it won't be coming apart anytime soon. I fitted it with Kadee #119 shelf couplers. For the curious, those are scale size same as the #158.

I also figured out the pickup problem with the Walthers GP9. The pickups work so much better when the ends are behind the wheels and not sticking out above them. Fortunately the Walthers trucks are somewhat easier to disassemble than Athearn trucks.

Hi

Back is killing me like words I can't use here! Time for more pain killers.....the good stuff!

I went to Walmart and found some clothes inmy size. I gotta buy em when I see em cuz nobody carries them but Wallyworld or go to the Big And Tall store. I'm all belly - 3XL worth to avoid it peeking out from under the shirt bottoms. 2XL on the bottoms is hard enough to find...

Then I went ot Harbor Freight Tools to buy a battery charger to keep the generator battery charged. I thought it was clip on connectors to the battery, but apparetly Im gonna have to buy some bolts for it. Whoopee! I hope the charger is  the right one..it shoudl hepl hold a battery's charge for like winter storage of things NOT really charge it up. Gotta get out my meter if I can find it and see iof the batttery is putting out 12 volts and is charged or not.

WOre me out that little trip diod so I didn't even bother going to lowes to see if i could geteh smal botls for the battery.

Gotta take my pills and go lay down.

Later dudes..

 Afternoon Fellow Dinners!

 Flo, Lemonade Please.

When it rains it pours! Big Smile I now have three company's interested in me! Remember me talking about taking a Aptitude Test That Took 3 hours? It was for running a body shop. Guess who called today, yep it was them. I have a interview with them Monday.

Today's Job Interview? Well sometimes you know if do good or not right! Well this one went as good as they can get. If this one works out I just might get to build the rail road of my dreams. One sort of a formality is I have to send a resume to there home offices and take Yet Another Aptitude Test. I hate those things!

 See you all later.

Got five new freight cars today. The first two are a Model Power 2-bay hopper and a Cities Service Oil tank car.

The next three are Bachmann Silver Series.

Santa Fe all-door box car.

Santa Fe 50' steel reefer.

52' center depressed flat car with transformer load.

Remember them as they are now. They won't look this clean for long.

Evening All,

Today was my early shift so I’m home. It didn’t seem as hot today as it was yesterday. I’m waiting on the meat loaf to finish cooking to eat supper.

Jeff- Your new cars look good. I really like the Cool Lava color. I’m going to get a sample size from Lowe’s.

Galaxy- Hope your pain eases up soon.

Rob- Glad your truck is running again.

Ken- I’m glad it sounds like things are finally turning your way on the job front. Hope Tiffany is doing OK.

Tomorrow, Oct. 13th is the 236th birthday of the US Navy. The Navy was established in 1775 during the Revolutionary War and has been on the cutting edge of National Defense since then. Sailors endure long deployments and assignments away from family and friends to ensure our safety. Please take a couple of minutes to think of their sacrifice for all of us. Like all of our armed service members past and present the words Duty, Honor and Country have special meaning for them.

Everybody have a good night.

 Evening Folks!

 Flo, another Beer Please!

Power went out at 3:00 PM and was down for two hours. Phone was all so out because we use a modem. So, you have no power and cold beer, what do you do? Whistling

NTB Job Well with no power, could not go on line to take the Aptitude test and Dave said Neil may want to talk to me first (his boss). So I called Dave to let him know about the power outage and my land line phone was out as well in case Neil was trying to call me.

I was told that if I pass the Aptitude Test, Drug Test and Background Check the job is mine! Yes This is the most important test I will have taken in my life, well maybe Airborne training test was a little more important. So if anyone wants to do a little Rug Action For Me, I would be grateful!

Jeffery Your going to have to get the floor reinforced with all the train stuff you have been getting lately!

 See you all later.

Jeff- Thanks. I found the color on the Lowe's website, but I will use your numbers. By the way I seem to use the rust color all the time.

Lee- I have been thinking about what you said about the roundhouse differences. I think what I am going to do is put in the longest amount of rail that will fit in the front of the roundhouse when the 6 floor pieces are put together with the idea that it is better to cut it back instead of having to add rail.

I use several different shades of the rust. I have 'Rustica', 'Rusted Earth' and 'Rusty Rail'. I've got about 60 different colors I've picked up, many of them are mis-tints that I bought for no more than $1, usually more like 75¢ or 50¢. You never know what you'll find on the mis-tint rack.

Evening all.  Nothing for me, just finished a huge dinner that Amy made for us (baked pork chops, butterbeans, mac and cheese, and corn bread).  I might have something a little later.

Not doing a whole lot around here, just relaxing and doing some research as to the Dothan Subdivision and its industries from Ozark, AL, south/east ward.  Today was a long day at w**k, was there for 11 hours, and it was our truck day, so yeah, just a tick tired.

Rob: I appreciate the offer to stay in a guest room.  What's wrong with your Ranger, guess the ethanol in gasoline has the carb all gummed up?  Lots of people down in this area have been having problems with their small engines, and some problems with 4-wheelers and bikes, especially if they've set up for a while.

Jeff: Those two locomotives look great, and the color looks good too!

Well, think I'm going to do some more research and toss my daughters in the tub, its bath and then bed time for them!

Guten Abend Leute!

Just my usual cup of decaf please.  Danke!

Busy as always....  Since the guy is coming over tomorrow to replace the kitchen sink I decided I aught to clean out the area under the counter by the sink.  Glad I did!  Vacuumed up all the old mouse dropping under there, and noticed the floor was damp.  The leaking of the faucet handle (it is a mess...) has evidently been dripping down onto the floor of the cabinet.  then i ran my hand along under the trap for the old sink.  that was wet as well....  I think my timing for getting this done is very good!

Canned a pressure cooker full of pint jars of carrots today.  2 of the 7 didn't seal right so they are in the refrigerator to be used ASAP.  Also got to do some w*rk on the layout before heading out to take some photos of the other 2 layouts THAT will be open for the Fall Meet.  He is what it looked like this morning:

And what it looks like now:

Hope you all have a great night!

Later!

Hello! Battening down the hatches as we are likely to get about 3 days worth of severe storms, with some firing up right now. Saturday is looking particularly ominous, with conditions right to drop tornadoes Dead

I do love storms, but the thoughts of Tornadoes... No thanks. Been through two Cyclones one at cat 3 (220km/h winds...) that'll do me!

Good Morning All,

Jeff, I have built all of my machines from scratch since about 1995.  Mine is just plain overworked and ready to be retired.  It’s over 6 years old and when I built it I installed the top of the line graphics card, now I can’t upgrade it, I do a lot of graphics work with it plus internet stuff and it’s on almost 24/7.  I think my supervisor I/O chip needs replaced on my current machine and don’t really want to dump money into it if I can upgrade to a new machine that will last me 6 years.  If up grading costs 60% of the cost for a new machine I normally don’t do the upgrades. I’m looking at building/buying a machine with double crossfire video cards 1GB each, 700w power supply, 2TB HD, i7-2600, 32GB RAM.  I have a MicroCenter nearby and I can get the parts at just above wholesale, or I’ll go to pricewatch.com and see what I can pick up.  I have a “metric short ton” of used computer parts; maybe we should talk when I dispatch my old machine since I just can’t bring myself to throw anything away…

Sue, the dresser is on hold waiting on parts.  It never fails the one drawer guide I picked out when building the dresser becomes the world’s most popular part at Home Depot and they can’t keep it in stock.  I special ordered the parts Tuesday and hopefully they will be in by this weekend.

Galaxy, there are several auto parts stores that will test the battery for free since you need the AMPS and the volts together for the battery to work.

Curt, I built the Heljan and after a few years I saw the Walther’s and switched.  I installed 3’ flex track in each bay cutting it when the rail overlapped then installed it and trimmed it at the turntable pit.  That way if I needed to adjust the position of the round house a little to the right or left I could.  Good rule of thumb is never put the roundhouse before the pit!

Ok, I need to get to work to pay bills….

OK, I'm impressed. I can't even hope to find stuff like that here for a good price, except the power supply that is. I already have a 700+ watt supply in the machine I'm currently using. I've been using this computer (with modifications) since 2003. My hard drive is just 80gb. I save my data on CF and SD cards.

Good morning, Chloe.   I would like my usual coffee in a NP mug and one of those cinnamon rolls with lots of frosting.

Lee,  You sound like me.  If I need 6 parts, there will be 5.

Today, I need to get some chipping done.  It looks like there is a tiny window of dry weather, so I had better get with it.

Later,  Sue

GOOD MORNING!!!Sigh

Today is Thursday, October 13, 2011!!!

Do you know where you are???

What are you so cheery about, Galaxy?  Yep!  It appears to be morning here in the Finger Lakes (so yes I know where I am....).  It's a yuchy, cold, drizzly, damp. dark and gray morning here in the Finger Lakes.  Galaxy, are you enjoying the rain down your way?  I hear Binghamton, NY has only gotten 58.67" of the liquid sunshine so far this year....  THAT is only 27.48 " more than the average for the year, and we got 2 months left to go! GrumpySigh  Seriously, I hope you folks are OK in this latest round of moisture.....

I am out of bed (got up at 7AM), and need my morning coffee!  Dark Roast please.  How about a trip to the Breakfast Buffet as well.....

"Raindrops keep fallin' on my head........."  (See Barry's forecast for the week!)

Thayne, the photos I put up last night are mostly flex track.  The inside curve, way over on the left of the pics are hand laid track in that area.  You would love the Tiger Valley RR THAT will be opening up for the meet.  He has several miles of hand laid track....  I'm talking real miles here!  1800 sq foot basement filled with his model railroad!!!

Ken good luck with the job hunt!

Best get ready for the guy to show up to do the sink!

Later!

Good Morning!! Coffee and…oh what the heck, strudel please. Thanks.

Occasional showers, mainly before 1pm. High near 71. Breezy, with a west northwest wind 7 to 10 mph increasing to between 17 and 20 mph. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Ken- Good luck on the test!

Aussie Jim- Prayers for your safety during the storms.

Lee- I know what you mean on the parts issue. Can’t keep it in stock, or what I usually get is “ Gee, I don’t know why they stopped making that (or “we don’t carry that” whichever fits at the time) it was real popular and worked great”Bang Head.

Computers. I tell you what, I could get by on just the RAM and HD space required to run IE and this website. OK, maybe a couple others, but no gaming things. Quicken is I believe the most intense program I run...Confused.. that I know of, and this website is about the most advanced I visit. Well other than the few sites I go to to pay bills. I have a 200GB hard drive and I think Jeffrey’s 80GB would be 100X more than I need. I tell you what I remember having a 200 MB or around there hard drive and I think I had that thing about ¼ full and that was with the programs. I have not much more on the computer now. Though I do know the programs are much larger now. But you get the jist of what I’m saying. I still draw on pencil and paper and use a dictionary for crying out loud. Wife wonders why I don’t learn to use the one built in. I say, “I don’t want to forget how to use the dictionary". Besides, sometimes it’s easier to just look it up than sift through their suggestions.

Today I shall make like any other day except for the differences that either I allow to happen or….just happen that I can’t control.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

 Morning all!

 Flo Lemonade please.

Well I got a collection of butterfly's in my stomach. Going to get the test over here in a little bit. Guess I need to stop worrying about passing or not. If I don't pass, I have 2 other prospects.

Thayne My wife and I both see Tiff going down hill in the last few days. Not sure what to do, she is having real trouble walking still. For some reason my wife had not been giving her the second med like she should? Her friend Linda said that might be making Tiff cough. Pointed out to my wife that Linda is not a vet, and the vet told her on the phone it would not cause Tiff to cough!  So we will see how she does starting today.

Tiff still love's to eat, so that is a good sign. She all so seems to have no problem with doing her duties if you know what I mean.

 Well see you all later!

"Raindrops keep fallin' on my head........."  (See Barry's forecast for the week!)

Just tryin' to make some "jolly" outta the same old same old morning greeting!

"It's a yuchy, cold, drizzly, damp. dark and gray morning here in the Finger Lakes. " Oh, and WELCOME TO OUR WORLD! Bingo has been known for it "pale gray palor fo a perma-cloud settling over it",,,especially in winter!

Yes, we have had a record year of rainfall. Both in the spring {along with some snow melt} and throughout the year. ANd we DO have 2.5 months left.... It has definitely been a rainy year here. We could use a break. This latest storm has not dumped as much as it could on us...barely rained wednesday.

HOPEFULLY WE DON'T GET SNOW LIKE WE GOT RAIN!!!!! There will be no place to put it. A few bad stroms..no more than 3 or steady snowfall that has a chance to disipate before it accumulates would be nice!

The Flood happened so fast it was MAJOR FLASH FLOODING that did us in.

I guess maybe Home Depot is gonna reopen on the same spot? They have  gray double wide trailer out front and a lot full of cars...so who knows? Other stores rumored to close permenantly after the flood are advertising in the classifieds for employees so they must be reopening too?

Dunno

A nothing but the diswasher loading and unloading for me today. nothing more.

have a good one

Blownout cylinder:  Thanks for the link to the speed test site.  I've been curious so I ran the test.  I got ping 11 ms, download 19.34 Mbps and upload 0.49 Mbps on Shaw.  Don't know if that's good or not, but I guess it's pretty good.  My internet actions seem fast enough for me and I guess that's what matters.

Finally got 16 mm of rain yesterday and a few thunderboomers and another few millimetres of rain overnight.  Can't complain about the temperature though.  18 day and 7 night yesterday.  The normal is 12 and 0.6.  Gotta do some serious leaf raking though.  Most, but not all of the trees have dropped their leaves.  The Siberian Elm in the back yard won't drop its leaves until after there's snow on the ground.  Fortunately there's an enterprising and energetic 11 year old girl on the next street who likes to do yardwork, pull weeds, rake leaves and shovel snow.  She has a list of regular customers, us included.  With a work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit like hers I predict she will go places in her adult life.

 Morning again fellow dinners!

I took the on line test, last thing is the Drug test. If I can get this done today and I should be able to, it looks like I start MONDAY! Finally, a job that I can live on just the base pay and I still can make commission and bonus.

ILL Hardest Hit Program Just spoke with my rep and seems the finally paper work will done in 3 to 4 weeks! Only thing I was not expecting is I may have to drive to Springfield ILL. Hum, might be time to meet Todd faces to faces! Yes

This is all still seems unreal at this point. To get hired for a job I did not apply for, and getting help with the house! I sure hope this is not a dream.
