Chamomile tea, please.

***Barry, which member of the band is he?

Tomorrow (7th) is my birthday. If asked just a couple years ago if I thought I'd see this day, I would have put the odds at 50/50 at best. Now, I fully expect to see another and hopefully a few more after that, too. Time will tell if this path of treatment works long term or not.

After the last episode of Breaking Bad airs this Sunday, we're going to cancel our DirecTV. Can't afford to keep it, especially with the costs of winter approaching. Personally, I won't miss it.

Have a good night all.

Another beateous day today on tap! High 70's and sunny and DRY for once...we are in the middle of about 5-6 days of sunny and dry and warm! {for once}

The flood damages from Irene and agian slammed by Lee the following week for the state is expected to top ONE BILLION dollars- one quarter- 250 MIllion of that in my area..and 171 million in my county alone! They {FEMA} are also talking buyouts;;so we will sudenly have more "green space" and "parks" than we know what to do with and the cost to maintain them will be high, especially since it takes properties off the tax rolls and we now have a 2% property tax cap per year form Gov. Cuomo.

We shall see what we shall see when we shall see it.

Finally found {by phone call to technical support} the starter battery form Harbor Freight Tools for the generator we bought. in route form California...but I thought they could'nt ship batteries like that fedex. supposed to take 2-5 business days..so far only moved around in CA.

Happy B-Day RoB! MAy you have many more!

Have a great day!

Good Morning!! Coffee and Biscuits and Gravy please. I want to see how the Germans do with gravy. Thanks.

Sunny, with a high near 86. It’s still dark out and I’m not liking it.

Bob- You are right on the electrical inspectors. Same with Food Inspectors. I often wonder why there is a book of code and rules if the Inspector can just make the stuff up as he goes.

Jeffrey- Too bad there are as many suckers for those scams as there are smart people. Actually, I’m surprised you didn’t waste the postage and send them a note, without return address of course, saying something to the effect “I hope you smiled when you got your mail, the Police are watching your PO box.” I know I’d get a chuckle knowing they’d at least have a moment or two of concern. Maybe they wouldn’t return to see if there were more.

It’s funny hearing the word “ain’t” in a German accent. (chuckle). While we are on the subject of English speaking forei….Natives of other countries, the funniest thing to me was when I was in Korea, having the Katusa’s (S. Korean solders attached to and training/working with the US forces there) correcting United Statesians on our English. I’d say “It’s my native language and we stole it fair and square. We’ve spent years slaughtering words from just about every language there is to create it. It’s a work in progress and I’m just helping out. It‘s tradition”

It’s starting to get light out now so I best get a movin.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good morning, Chloe.  I have time for breakfast today.  I will have biscuits and gravy.  Could you serve some brats on the side, unless they are actually in the gravy.  Oh, yeah, coffee too, please.

I managed to do 3 hours of mowing in the trees yesterday.  On Monday, I have someone  coming by to scout our place to cut boughs.  I thought that it would help if we could walk it without getting wet.

The rain came early this year.

Later, Sue

Oh, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROB!!

Ken- No, the rope to use is one of those natural rough hemp ropes. The kind with the fibers sticking out all over the thing. The reasoning is, the creature won't cross it because it irritates their underside. Does it work? Well nothing is 100%. Not traps, poison, pellet guns. Nothing. See, most people will not cross a coil of razor wire, but if I'm fleeing for my life or scared enough, I'll climb right over the stuff. Then again, some people would just cross it anyway. Same with mice. What I do know as fact is this. Many years ago when I was happ...a bachelor, I lived in a trailer. From time to time I would have mice at the normal times of year. They always seemed to be around the washer and dryer nook in the hall. I'd set traps and usually would get them. One day, I saw a mouse come out from under the washer and then go back under. Out of curiousity I went to the junk room and got a piece of rope and stretched it from one corner of the nook to the other. Escencially roping him into the space. My couch was on the wall looking down the hall and I sat back down and waited. The mouse come out to the rope and sniffed or whatever it was doing, then followed that rope to the wall and then all the way back to the other wall. It went back to the center, back under the washer, back to the rope and after some more investigating, at the wall finally crossed the rope. I figured this. If the mouse had found a way around the rope he would have taken it. He looked and looked for a way other than to cross the rope. But he was trapped and couldn't get anywhere without crossing. In this case he had no choice. If he did, he wouldn't have.

Only one time, one mouse. Fluke? Stupid mouse? Just checking out the rope? Or proof. I don't know. Not really what you'd call a good control group. Reason I brought it up was, I was just trying to convince my little girlfriend of the same thing the other day. She just moved out to the country to a house that has been vacant for a time and next to a field. She is scared to death of mice and bugs. She sits at her kitchen table in an uncushioned chair so she can see them coming, and is as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs when she goes to sleep at night. She almost got the rope until others told her it was a joke and I was just trying to get her to beat the chairs and sit around with a rope around her on the floor laughing knowing she's walking around with a rope everywhere she goes. (would have been funny though).

On the other hand, a mouse generally will not come crawl on you anyway, usually,  so if you are sitting around with a rope around you and you believe in the rope thing, and a mouse never crawls on you and you believe it's the rope that keeps them away and feel better about it, does the rope work? I'd say it does in a way.

Luckily, Brenda is just a "don't want the mouse in here get it OUT or KILL IT NOW!!" person and not petrified of them. Jumpy, but not scared. Shoot she works at an elevator. She's seen rat's as big as racoons, or so she says. A mouse tain't nuthin. Just don't want 'em near her and especially NOT in the house.

Good evening all.

Went past the LHS this afternoon and ended up with a DCC system!! Got a Powercab set for $200 which is very reasonable considering its around $160 in the states.

Now for the DCC experts I need your help!!!! I also bought a Digitrax DN163K1C to put into a Kato N scale SD40-2. I've installed it, but the system is "unable to read CV" and I can't get it going. when it's sitting on the program track both LED's light up, but I can't do anything!! Any Ideas of what to do?? I'm giving it a rest tonight as I'll only get frustrated. PLEASE HELP!!!

Good Morning All,

Just a regular to go please Zoe.  As they say here, the frost is on the pumpkin and as I say it's scrape the frost off the windscreen in the morning season. Easier to say the pumpkin thing I think. I will try the rope thing as I have a critter (mouse size droppings) that's taken up residence in my Kenworth for the winter. I need to do a major tidy up in there anyway so a bit of rope in the kitchen area may be just the thing.

    Rob - Happy Birthday!

James - you may need to program on the main if the power to the programing track isn't sufficient. I haven't messed with the specific decoder you have but the NCE ones I used on the Blueline locos needed program on the main to function. Just make sure you remove any other decoder equipped equipment when you do or it'll all have the same address LOL.

Gute schöner und sonniger Morgen, du!

Ich werde die Kekse und Soße zusammen mit meinem dunkle Röstung Kaffee, bitte.  Dank!

Another beautiful day here in the Finger Lakes, currently sunny with a temperature of 55°F and a high of 71°F this afternoon.  My favorite type of day.  Especially since i have lots of outdoor stuff to do.  Lawn needs mowing again........, have carrots to bring in from the garden, the holes in the 4 x 4 to drill, the rest of the hole to dig, and a few other items as well.  My son just called and needs me to watch the granddaughters as he has to w*rk (thought he was going to get the day off) and his wife has a late meeting at school today.

Happy Birthday Rob (and many many more)!

best get moving!

Morning All,

Off today so I don't have much to do. My laundry is in the dryer then I am going to try to take some more photos, Hopefully they will turn out better. MOH saw the ENT yesterday and was told her Menier's has come out of remission. She was given 2 additional med's to take. She is feeling OK today but the episodes occur without warning. I developed a cold yesterday so I feel pretty blah today.

Rob- Happy BirthdayHappy B-DayCake

Todd- I have never heard that about mice and rope.

Garry- Very nice scene.

Morning All,

Just a short stop for a HC. and cinnamon bun, with real butter please,  thanks Chloe.

Just couldn't miss wishing ROB a wonderful day and a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY and I hope many more with continued progress on your health issues and the two layouts and of course that darn fence.  Lol.

GARRY, I really love that scene with the Silver Pilot against the REA building.  Great shot.

The holiday is winding down, we will probably leave Springfield on Monday and should get home wed. evening or Thursday depending how we feel.  Then back to the Salt Mine for the winter I guess.  I've been kind of planning to quit work in the later spring, but that is only tentative. Could sure use more MR time.

Looking forward as usual to WFP. you folks amaze me.   I am in the presence of great Masters, I am sure.

Well, that should do it for now.  Hope you all have a good day.

Keep smiling, Ya All.       I am becoming quite southernized, doncha think ?   Cool

My fourth attempt to get this posted ... Whistling

Happy B-Day - Rob, all the best wishes for many, many happy and healthy years to come!

Garry - congrats on that beautiful picture in November MR!

On our tour throughout Germany, we will visit Karlsruhe tomorrow, where we will tour the city in a special tram, with wine and fine foods served by adorable hostesses.

Karlsruhe has one of the world´s most advanced light rail transport systems, which has more of a character of a regional railroad. The tour will end in Ettlingen on the same network, where we will change into a steam train, taking us to Bad Herrenalb on the outskirts of the Black Forest.

We will stay overnight in this place:

It has got a reputation for good food and wines!

Have a good day!

Good morning. It's 76° and sunny. The high will be 88° and it will be partly cloudy.

Nothing much going on today. I really have to get the layout cleaned up. It's looking like it's been hit by a terrorist attack, tornado, earthquake and an eight day flood. I'll try and get it down to the point that it just looks like an earthquake. I should have more stuff coming in soon. I'm expecting at least one delivery this weekend, maybe two. One of those will be a Walthers GP9m and the other will be a GP9m shell. There's a couple more deliveries coming. One is estimated for the week of the 17th. It's a three-pack of Tyco freight cars and includes a Diamond Chemical tank car. The other is estimated for the 12th. It's an Athearn DOW Chemical covered hopper kit.

This morning I went through and made a list of my locos as follows:

Athearn

1 SD9 Midland Gulf
1 SW900 Midland Gulf

***Jeffrey, WOW, that's a heck of a motive power list!!! How many miles of track have you laid around the neighborhood for all those little beasts? Kidding aside, sounds like your layout resembles my wife's right now. I need to clean it up and the room in general. My own layout doesn't even resemble much of anything yet.Whistling

 Evening Folks

Flo, yes I will take a Cold Beer and a small salad.

Did some running today and felt good most of the day. Did forget to go to the post offices, but hopefully I will get a chance Saturday.

Have spent most of the day trying to figure out what went wrong with the Cursed SP SD-50.It still has low running and stall amps and I see no reasons it should be running this slow. I have started a post on the main section about testing the windings. Only thing I can think of is one or more of the windings have went bad. I want to get a handle on this before I start back tracking to the other engines.

Jeffery Well you should have me beat on the number of engines now. I bet I have gave away 6 engines to Simon boy's alone. You know, I really need to dig around I bet i still have some U Boats I have not seen in years. Heck, I even have a pair of PK 2000 F 2's with a sound decoder that I have not messed with in 3 to 4 years. Hum 4-8-4 Niagara? I would not mind having one of them! There is a hint Jeffery. Whistling

Well going to open the new FA Santa Fe engine, install a decoder and watch some TV.
