Well I got most of the work on the Proto 1000 F3A shell done. Still a bit of work to do.
cudakenI had a big long post going and hit the wrong darn button and poof it was gone! Don't feel like typing it again tonight
I type my posts up in Notepad and save them on a SD card. If I screw up and lose it while posting I can retrieve it from the SD card and re-post. Once it's safely posted I can delete it from the card. I've been having problems with posting with Firefox and Internet Explorer due to some kind of cockup on this site so I'm using Opera now. Guess what! No more vanishing posts, no more dropped tabs, no more dropped pages, no more 'Whoops!', no more problem.

Hello all
Been off for a few months dealing w/ some personal issues. Haven't had time to catch up on much of the posts, but have been enjoying my issues of MR.
Well, back @ w**k for a few days. I'll be working Friday thru Monday for a couple months 'til we go back into the operating season.

Evening All,
The open house went great. We had probably 50-60 visitors today with several new membership applications. Hopefully tomorrow will go as well.
Stan- I have to admit I'm a little envious of the visit of the PRR E8 to your depot.
John Boy- Another interesting historical story.
I was going to mention others but since I didn't write it down now I can't remember
Hope everyone has a good night.

Hi Guys
Just a quick stop, Boy did we just get alot of rain this afternoon. I come to find a crack along my driveway that allowed water to come in, Once It dries out I need to get that cracked filled. I got that cleaned up. It was barely enough to get a shop rag wet but still I dont need water coming in my house. I am still reading through the book called "Canadian Trackside Guide 2011" So much info on the CN and CP from all current locomotives, preserved equipment, passenger cars,MOW equipment, radio frequencies, the AAR reporting marks section is 30 pages alone.
Good afternoon everyone!
I can finally get back to the diner after computer issues and one of the busiest days at the museum in a long time! When I arrived here this morning, there were a couple of guys outside with cameras asking me when the "Pacific Express" was due. I thought they were joking, and with a laugh, told them there would be no passenger trains today. Well, guess what rolls up outside our little depot?
This train was traveling west on the old Erie mainline from Bath NY to Jamestown NY with all private cars in tow. Of course, it became very crowded in short order, but it was a decent bunch, and everything went smoothly. The WNY&P RR had to change crews, and I'm glad they chose Salamanca to do it. I was fortunate enough to have my Sony video camera handy, and while everyone set up along the track, I climbed up into our caboose cupola for a clear shot of the train as it arrived.
Anyway, just thought I'd stop in and grab a coffee before heading home.
Everyone have a good evening!
-Stan
galaxy JEFFREY you keep talking about some icon of a torn piece of paper on IE 9 that needs to be changed to make it work like IE 8, but I DON"T HAVE THAT as I don't have working IE anything! WHERE oh where would I find it? The IE icon is supposed to be on the desktop link but is inactive and doesn't work as I said we can load AOL direct off Time WArner cable {who used to own or was owned by AOL}.

The item circled in red with the red arrow pointing to it is the icon I was referring to. There's no reason you can't use IE here and AOL everywhere else.
Rain oh rain go away,
DO come back a different day,
your work can well be seen,
as you make the grass very green.
you also make it grow,
so that we have to mow.
while you are here we cannot mow,
but you make it grow even though.
you're often called liquid sunshine,
but make many folks just whine.
A drizzle here, a drizzle there,
a drizzle obviously everywhere.
Your shower is very suttle,
But over there is a puddle.
Radar shows you are not done,
But I wonder, where is the sun?
Will you visit those in need of rain,
and hereby leave us a little refrain.
We are not as dry as many others,
go rain on our sisters and brothers.
We could use you another day,
even if you go now and go away.
Let the sun come out and help your work
and make the weeds grow beserk.
The sun I'd very much like to see
so please stop raining on me.
This little missive is my doing only and I did not copy

ULRICH...And JEFFREY- I DON'T USE A BROWSER. I have AOL direct from Time Warner Cable! IT is my "browser". I don't even HAVE IE8 or IE9 on my computer.. Never had a problem before UNLESS there was something going wrong at home base {"Kalmbach}, then EVERYone had problems. Several others have posted the problem with the WHOOPS page showing up and interrupting their work too! SO it CAN't be just me!
Please ask the techs WHAT and HOW I should change something then? This is the ONLY site I am having problems with! I HAD to use IE to Access AOL at teh hotel.had no choice ..but that shouldn't affect my home computer?. If that corrupted my AOl at home , then HOW on earth do i correct it, seeing as I don't have IE ON HERE? AOL uses enhanced google for search engine....if THAT makes any difference.
I cannot : back up to the page I was on, I cannot post to the last post in a thread, I cannot quote a post sometimes as it won't let me post to that post, I cannot copy/paste quotes or items from a post {I can in MS Word documents adn on other sites}, I get teh Whoops page when I try changing posts and often have to go out and come back in. I have sogned off and signed back in anew.If I "post" my answer to a thread ti gives me the WHOOPS page, and MAY or MAY NOT post my post.
It is here looks to be about most of the day by the radar photos on TV.
FRUSTRATED and sore jaw from yanking a tooth. GOod drugs help, but I''m not floating in any way except my teeth are floating in what seems to be anger over teh WHOOPS pages!!!
sign me
greatly frustrated and getting angry!
EDIT: Ok, I tried something. I went to the desktop Icon for IE and it loaded an opening page and just stuck there at "connecting"...it does NOT connect to the web...I checked out ALL the icons, pulldown menus and such and found no reference to WHICH # IE it is, and found no "torn piece of paper" icon there. It did give me the option to select AOL as a browser, but I'm afraid since it already IS my browser that may screw up my current AOL edition number or throw me off being able to get on AOl anymore. WHo, at Kalmbach can I direct a question about the WHOOPS pages if it only me {and why are others complaining about it? I NEVER had this trouble before UNLESS the whole site did something screwy!!
Happy Weekend Diners,
Here I am back at work today, this sure screws up a week-end, oh well, I don't plan on it for to much longer, I hope !!!!!!!!!!
Well, when it is my week-end at work you know what that means for you , my fellow Diners, don't you???
Come on now, I know you all have been eagerly awaiting this day for two weeks now.......
No guesses ? >>>>>>>>> Try harder>>>>>>>>> OH, look there, I think Bill T. knows, C'mon Bill speak up, we would all like to hear from you. Anyway, It's time for your next HISTORY LESSON.
This week we go back to the land of the Liberty Bell,,,,, Pennsylvania for this story.
Mount Gretna Narrow Gauge Text and Map from "Little Railways of the World" by Fredeic Shaw
Only one 2-foot-gauge railroad in American history ever possessed American type 4-4-0 locomotives and that was the Mount Gretna Narrow Gauge in Pennsylvania. The little line was essentially a project for a recreational area, an amusement park on a grander scale, and was not precisely a common carrier as were its sister two-footers in the Maine woods. The Mount Gretna was, in fact, an offshoot of the standard-gauge Cornwall and Lebanon Railroad which opened a picnic ground at Mount Gretna, Lebanon County. The opening of the ground was almost immediately followed by the designation of the territory west of Mount Gretna as a military reservation for the summer camps of the Pennsylvania National Guard. With Lake, Conewago and the impressive peak of Governor Dick, it became a paradise for hikers; and early in the spring of 1889 Robert H. Coleman, who controlled the Cornwall and Lebanon, authorized the survey and construction of the road.
When built, the road was approximately four miles long from Mount Gretna to Governor Dick, with a branch to the National Guard Rifle Range. The motive power of the little road was quite outstanding. Two locomotives were ordered, one from the H. K. Porter Company and one from the Baldwin Locomotive Works. The Porter engine was a 0-4-4 Forney type hallowed by George Mansfield, the builder of the "two-foot empire". The Baldwin engine, a 4-4-0, carried the road number 12 and was a miniature version of the Cornwall and Lebanon engines, even to the bright green paintwork and gleaming red driving wheels. The Forney's wheel base was too rigid for the sharp curves of the Mount Gretna line and it was retired. Baldwin turned out triplets in the 4-4-0 type locomotives; and the little system, after a busy five years of operation, went down in history as having owned and operated the only 2-foot-gauge, American type, live steamers in the United States.
Although abandoned as a recreational railroad, the Mount Gretna did operate to the Rifle Range (see map) at the behest of the Pennsylvania National Guard until 1915 when a curious accident finally gave it the quietus. A large number of guardsmen had climbed on to the footboard of the little cars which overturned on a sharp curve and resulted in some serious injuries. The line never recovered from an undeserved stigma. It was abandoned by all traffic from that time.
But long will the vacationers remember the Mount Gretna Railroad and the haul up the 2-foot-gauge track to the slopes of Governor Dick!
So there you go, remember the tests at the end of this Semester. Study Hard. Lol..
I hope the all tooth aches have past by the Diner now and we can get back to that sweet stuff that Petra and Ulrich send over.
The Young Uns amoung us will be starting to look forward to school again. I have difficulty in understanding where Spring and Summer have gone. Internally I feel like I am still waiting for the May Holiday week-end. Life sure speeds by the older you get.
I am getting interrupted too often here today, so I think I close this off for now.
Enjoy your time off.

Ray - I know I need to be patient and just wait. Unfortunately, patience is not really one of my strong points. I did march on though, I glued the darn thing into place - not bad looking, needs only a few touch-ups then it should be OK. Petra likes it - that´s really important
Good morning. It's 81° and sunny. The high will be 99° (will feel like 113°) and will be partly cloudy.Nothing special going on today. The L&A/MGRy has gotten wind that the Adirondack and Northern is looking for an SW1200 to put to work in their Indian River yard. Boy, do they have a deal for them! The loco isn't exactly equipped for the winters of the Adirondacks but the crews comfort comes in second compared to getting a great deal.On the layout front I still have some cleanup to do considering I couldn't do much of anything for a couple of days due to nearly having a heat stroke. That was due to my own stupidity and not taking proper precautions against the heat. The result was that I nearly ended up back in that place with the red cross on the roof and constantly being poked and prodded by doctors and ugly nurses that could pass for watch dogs, not to mention food that could be used to exterminate rodents and roaches. Anybody who has spent more than a few days in one of those places knows exactly what I'm talking about. If the food starts tasting good you either have bad taste in food or you've been there entirely too long and it's time to plan your escape.
Mornin'!
Hi Bill!
Zoe, I'll have a breakfast bagel w/ cheese to start the day and to have something for my dark roast coffee to wash down. The FGLK mug would be fine.
Todd..... Thanks for the understanding. Made me grin a bit! I learned the difference between "real" teachers and "special" teachers very quickly in my career... One of the most insulting, backhanded compliments I ever got was after a 6th. grade teacher watched me teach a lesson at Outdoor Education... He told me he thought it was great and THAT I could have been a "Real" teacher!!! We had a long conversation after THAT! As a music teacher I taught Music Theory, Performance, Listening skills, History, Science, Language skills, Math (Music is applied math!), Culture, Human Heritage, and much more..... Oddly enough the Principle THAT was the idiot started his career as a "Shop" teacher and should have known better. Yes, there are good and not so good in all areas of education as well as every other profession on Earth!
Ulrich, it will take time (possibly a month or more) for the clear silicon caulk to go completely clear. It has to cure all the way through. The WS stuff will be the same way. Give it time. You may want to "shape" the waterfall using a plastic knife or spoon (something you can just toss into the trash) to make it thinner and help the looks of the water. I have used the WS Water Effects, and it took almost a year in a few thick places to completely turn clear, but with time it did.......
As Barry would say, It is dull outside..... Sprinkling out right at the moment and calling for some thunderboomers later today. Currently 73°F outside with a high of 78°F sometime later. Nice break from the heat!
Later!

An error with the page caused IE to close and has been recovered.” Or something very similar. Only, however, on this site. The rest of Mr. Gores mind numbing creation is running fine. Oh well, they’ll figure it out. They always do. I hope they know about it. I hate to make it sound like I’m complaining about a free site. Indy Jim- That’s GREAT news on the biopsy! If he can’t carry a tune in a bucket, they can’t make a Jim Neighbors out of a bull frog. Therefore the teacher just teaches them the words to a song and then flaps his/her arms around making all these loops and woops when all they need to do is run their arm up and down to make it look like they are doing something. Same with drawing if a kid can draw he can draw and all the teacher does is give him a piece of paper to draw on. They have it the easiest.” Sound familiar? Good time for a coffee and a slice of that blackberry pie, Chloe, please.
I have been experimenting with that clear caulk I bought the other day.
AAARGH!
I am not giving up on it - I just peeled it off the wax paper and cut it to fit, so I will give it a few more hours of curing time. See what will happen tomorrow morning. If it fails, I´ll probably have toy buy that WS Water effects stuff - has anyone w*rked with that?
We are under thunderstorm watch right now - it´s pretty uncomfortable outside and I seem to be getting a headache. This summer is not worth its name. Outlook is pretty bleak as well.

Morning Folks!
Flo, Coffee Please.
For some reason, now that I am not drinking Beer (except when BBQ state law) I go to bed (couch) earlier? Went to sleep last night at 11:07 PM. So I was up this morning at 6:00 AM. You would think Beer would make me want to go sleep, not stay awake.
Had some storms last night, thunder woke me up around 2:30 AM. While we needed the rain, still not looking forward to the grass growing again.
Curt Commission does make it hard to plan a budget, one of the reason I wanted to stay out of sales this time around. But, it sees to be the only work I can find for some reason. Need to work on the resume to show more management background.
Plus, there is the luck factor. Yesterday the door swung my way. Couple came in and bought them self's a $1200.00 King set, then spent $600.00 on there 8 year old sons bed. It was a easy sale, in fact all the sales yesterday where pretty easy. Then you have days where you cannot sale a $10.00 bill for Five Bucks.
I am still putting out resumes, will be picky this time.
See you all later.
Morning All,
Have to leave for the club in about 15 minutes and wanted to say hi.
Ken- Glad the work front is looking up. Reason I never got into sales was because of the up and down pay. I want to know how much to plan on to support the family plus I am not a good salesman. I am a take it or leave it kind of guy.
Jeff- I think that is one of your best photo's in WPF. I will try to post a photo tonight after I get home, but I am having lighting issues (too much or too little).
Everyone take care.

I SURELY do HOPE they fix the WHOOPS! pages interrupting everything I try to do today!!
Morning...
I am up early this fine dull day due to getting a call in REALLY early...I just got back in...
Is anyone up here? No? Oh....OK....I'll just get my own coffee then....
Evenin'
Just a decaf for me Janie.
Today I finished cleaning and sorting several years worth of old business papers, Boy Scout Committee Handouts, Photos I printed and put in the piles, and much more stuff. Cleaned and moved the 3 file cabinets THAT used to sit against the back wall behind where I sit at the main computer, into the store room. Then I cleaned off one of the 3 main shelves THAT I installed above where the file cabinets were, and moved up 2 notches on the hardware..... I am finding all kinds of stuff I forgot I even had.
What I am doing is moving the entire work spcae to a slightly different location in what is supposed to be the dining room of the house. In the process I will be buying a lot of new furniture for it. The el-cheapo stuff I have been using is getting very worn. I have actually worn right through the thin wood veneer down to the chipboard the crap is made of. I intend to buy a higher grade of crap to replace it...
I did manage to do some tweaking of the write ups for the two buildings I will have judged for the Structure Certificate. I will be sending a copy on to the gentleman who will be in charge of the judging to have him gicve me a thumbs up or thumbs down on THAT part of the paperwork.
Even the big RRs need to fix there trackw*rk......
Supposed to rain some over night and then again tomorrow.... One can only hope!
BTW, knock on wood, I have not had encounters with the Oooops! page in many months, since it was doing to all of us. Could it be some upgrade they recently did to the software THAT isn't playing well with certain combos out there???
Evening Fellow Dinners
Flo, Lemonade please. Flo, why are the folks snickering and look out the windows?
Work Front Today was OUTSTANDING with $3300.00 in sales and 3 spiff beds to boot! While we are not far into the month, it is looking promising. If the weekends where to just pick up!
Monon Jim Great news on the wife! Glad she is cancer free.
Gary While I have not meet Steve (current owner of Ulrich Models) I have dealt with him many times on the phone. I have had some problems with items I bought from him. To say Steve stepped up to the plate and bent over backwards to solve the problem's is a understatement!
Let me give you a example. Terry From Texas (site member) gave me a Loksound 3.5 decoder out of his H-8. Did not like the sound (it was the cheap speaker not the decoder) I sent it to Ulrich Models to have the Big Boy sounds installed and bought the speaker set up for my PCM Big Boy.
Got the speakers and decoder and installed it in the Big Boy. No whistle, that's the best part. Called Steve and he said he would send me another decoder! Remember I did not buy the decoder from him. Told him I could not get the one I had in the mail till next week, said he would still ship the decoder today!
OK, I have my decoder, and he still sent me a decoder that day knowing I could not send mine back for a week and I did not buy it from him anyway? That is bending over backwards in my book!
Ulrich Sorry to hear the parents are giving you fits again. Why will they not move, what is there reasoning? Afraid they won't be able to sell there house?
See you all later!
Well we are back home finally, we rolled in around 5 PM after driving thru a downpour and rush hour traffic on I-4. Have the club open house this weekend so no running trains for me this weekend. Tuesday when I go in to work at 1600 I think I will prefab the 6 pedestals for the dwarf signals in the morning.
Mononguy- Congratulations on your wife's results.
Barry- Best Wishes on your Biopsy. Winging your way.
Everybody have a good night.
Getting REAL tired of the WHOOPS! pages at nearly every turn!!!!
I can't do hald the stuff I used to here.
I also cannot copy and paste something here the way I used to. I went to some MS word docs and the Notepad accessory and tried copy/paste there and it worked so it is NOT my computer!
After getting teh WHOOPS! page to wanting to post something here to say and having to find one post it would "take" a reply to so I could, I FORGOT WHAT I WAS GONNA SAY.
Got the good drugs working, was throbbing a min ago, so now my jaw is only sore. No that was NOT what I was gonna post here.
Well, about bedtime {yes we go to bed early here about 9-9:30 pm.} Often MOH {My Other Half} has to get up early at 5:30 Am to have time to get ready for work at 8. Likes to have time to shower, enjoy coffee, catch some AM news and most importantly WAKE UP before leaving for work.
MOH got some brownie points at work after just taking the 2 days of intense Corporate training for certification in floral arranging, tough was durn good at it ayway. Boss got teh message about MOH's abilities so has selected MOH to be the "official designer" for store needs and projects. The instructor DID teach MOH some new tricks, but the teacher was wondering why MOH was there to begin with. Maybe the BOSS will get off MOH's butt for awhile and LISTEN to MOH when MOH speaks! MOH could so run the department and make it more profitable than it is if given half the chance. NO, tTHAT was not what I was gonna post either.
I can't remember.
Well, see you in the AM with your wake up call unless someone beats me to it! {Moderator ULRICH!}
Now if this posts, I will be happy.
Good night y'all have a night cap on me so you can better!
Hey guys. How's the new moderator doing? Good
Bill- Congrats on your wife being cancer free. Flo, give me this man's tab, thanks.
Jeff- Try google chrome. I'm using it and not having any problems.
Finally got my quad fixed. Spent all summer trying to get new front tires for it. Found them at Farm and Fleet, they were on back order. Had to get two replacement lugs, went to the Polaris dealer a few weeks ago and no one was there. Dealer show or something. Got two lugs and nuts today, 8 bucks for them and I installed them myself. But now I have my quad back up to snuff for riding and I have to go back to school in about 12 days

When in doubt. grab a hammer.
If it moves and isn't supposed to, get a hammer
If it doesn't move and is supposed to, get a hammer
If it's broken, get a hammer
If it can't be fixed with a hammer... DUCK TAPE!
Sir Madog Galaxy - the pop-up issue should be solved. I did not like it either, but I still locked the thread - no need to work the issue umpteen times around, as it has been recognized.I am still looking to find a reason for those Oops - pages - I too have that once in a while.

The root canal was a bust, the third root was a crooked canal and didn't get drilled right, so there was no choice but to pull the tooth, darn it. Once "perforated" they can do nothing more. As it was he was having a hard time drilling the canal in the back molar and in my small mouth. Darn!

Afternoon!
Flo I'll have a RBF to tide me over to dinner time.
Still cleaning, sorting, and disposing of piles of stuff today..... Ran across this old gem.... The idiot administrator I w*rked for at the Middle School the first few years I was there once decided that the Fine and Practical Arts (MUsic, Art, Home and Careers, and Technology) teachers didn't have enough to do (we were assigned the state legal limit for number of classes we taught every day (I could have grieved my load as Chorus put me over the course load I should have had). So he found some busy w*rk that would have us patrolling the halls during the "9th period" when the bus students were waiting for the buses every day. My responce to him:
"(Idiot Administrator), Please be aware that I have class - Chorus, on Tuesdays and Fridays each week. I am therefore not available for "roit control" on those days. Thankx, Ray"
IIRC his answer was to cancel chorus if I was scheduled for "duty". I then reminded him THAT Chorus carries Carnegie Unit Credit in NYS and THAT would be against State Law... I got excused from duty when I had Chorus........
Hope you're having a great day!
