Jeff ... I'll have to look carefully at some ARR photos I took when I was there several years ago. I know one has an F7B.

Stan ... That's a great layout photo. Glad it was a good weekend.

Good afternoon Fellas!

Maybe things are working right again [knock on wood]. It was a very productive weekend at the museum, but now I have to get working on two paintings, the DM&IR painting, and the CP mikado.

We had close to 100 people there Saturday with the special train making an appearance. The one good piece of news to come from that is the fact that the WNY&P can run passenger extras, something we have been hoping for. I'd like to see about running a steam excursion from Salamanca to Hornell during our Falling Leaves Festival in the next couple of years, and maybe we can do it now. I heard that the NYC lightning striped E units should be running at the Medina rail museum very soon. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

We also got news that the Seneca Nation is doing a structural study on the old Erie depot across from the museum. I hope they can save it. It would be great for offices and small shops.

I did manage to run some trains on the layout last week. Mostly Pennsy steam:

Those BLI engines are the best ever!

Have a good night all!

While looking at the all-time roster of the Alaska Railroad I found that ARR F7A 1502 is now a diner in Yakima Washington. You read right. The Track 29 Dining Company. An F7A as a diner. Hmmmm. That has possibilities.
You could do that with one of those F7 dummies you have, put a B unit on behind it.

Forums back up on my Firefox and IE. Problems remain though. Somebody on another forum brought up a subject about fitting AAR side frames to a GP38-2 so I came up with a fitting photo. Not a GP38 but there was a prototype for it on the Alaska Railroad.

Will someone PLEASE turn of that headlight! Cool Ah, better.

Ray- Never notiiced the roofing "issue". Maybe they won't either. If it helps, we had someone install a metal roof on the education wing of our Church a few years ago and they did a horrible job. Maybe you can claim it was put on by a transient..., transiant...., passing group of fellas who needed work and put it on that way. Happens you know. More common back then than now. Shame you don't / can't make the roof removable to get a better view of that beauty of an interior though (hint hint)

It's 3:10 in the afternoon central time and all is peachy keen on this site running IE8 with compatibility engaged. For me. This is truly wierd if Jeff and others cannot get on using the same program. IF it was in one area, Imay say it is the ISP, but it's not. If it was a browser conflict I would think they all would have the issue. If it were on Kalmbachs end I would assume the same. I'm no computer guru but I would say something is wrong somewhere. But don't hold me to that.

One project left then to the basement I go. Blackberry bush is waiting. Mom's took a bit longer than planned as I ended up servicing the furnace while I was there. Servicing the furnace (chuckle). Sounds more impressive than vacuumig out the thing ans changing the air filters and giving the blower a bit of oil. Had to go to Springfirld to get filters so there was almost an hour.

Welp, I'm off.

EDIT: (ahem) Ok. So it took me fifteen minutes to type that last part. So I'm a slow typer. Now you know...HAPPY NOW?!

OK, now the trouble is getting serious! I can't bring the forum at all on Firefox or Internet Explorer. I have to assume the staff at Kalmbach is working on the problem.

Fixed the headlight lens problem. Found a piece of clear plastic sprue, cut a short piece, put a small dot of hot glue on the side of it and shoved it in the headlight hole. Problem solved.

Hey all

Bad weekend.Went to work the side job Saturday. We were rushing because they were calling for storms to roll in about mid day. ,Mid morning I  stepped on a nail THAT was very rusty and went in about three inches Dead Kept working thru the pain, mistepped on a joist and my foot went thru a metal shed roof that is below the deck Bang Head . We knocked off at lunch went to the LHS. Hobbled in thinking my couplers would be in and wjile home with leg propped up I could install some couplers. Noooo that were not in Confused. So I next hobbled over to wally world to pick up some first aid supplies and then went home. Of course MOH was freaked out and would not let me lay down and rest and made me get up and go see the saw bones. Of course I had to have the tetanus shot and now my arm hurts as bad as my foot.spent saturday on my back , foot propped up in pain. Got all of three hours sleep last night.Black Eye

Mornin'.....  Uh..... Er......  Ahem...  Afternoon!

I'll have the Turkey Club Plate with a glass of regular iced tea for lunch.

Afternoon Bill!

I took my old Electric Bass over to the middle school along with a stand for it and a direct box.  Talked with all of the Elementary/Middle School  Instrumental teachers for a bit.  They are doing "Summer Lessons" a program paid for by the Band Boosters.  They will have Band Boosters write me a letter of thanks for the gifts for my taxes....  Then I dropped off some "Trash and Treasures" at the high school for one of the Art teachers.  All THAT amounted to was a tall stack of Bulk CD cases.  She uses them to clean brushes in her classes.

Have to finish lunch and then go buy some furniture!

Inch!!!  AAAARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH! Now ya tell me!  On a project such as this, nitpicking is welcomed...  One more thing I tried to look up and couldn't find on line.  It has been a long time since I was 9 years old and was helping my dad roof the addition to the barn with the stuff.   OK should I leave it as is and hope there is some "Proto" buildings done this way, or remove the roof and start over, and hope I can get the roof off without braking any rafters??????   Hmmmmmmmmm????

Have a great day!

Jeff- I have Windows 7. Some people have said I need to change cookies....but I like my Oatmeal Raisin cookies the way they areWhistling. Seriously though I don't have a clue about this.

I don't know anything about Windows 7 so I can't advise you on that. I can tell you that you need to have cookies enabled. Your Internet Explorer help section could give you some information on this.

Good Afternoon Gang,

I am not having a good day today - just too much load on my shoulders. Aside from all the issues we are having with my parents, we got word that my son´s GF has turned seriously ill. She is in hospital now, getting tested for Krohn´s disease, a really nasty thing to have. My son´s just getting ready for his final exams - not a good time to have an ill GF at home.

A minor issue was a rude and insulting PM from a forum member, hitting my nerve at the wrong time. After fiddling around with my waterfall, I decided to just ignore him.

Chloe,  astrong coffee in a JNR mug, please.

Johnboy - yeah, a reunion would be a wonderful thing! For Strudel, which Petra would be happy to provide, it may be a little too early  in the year, unless we get an unexpected and spectacular drop in temperature.

Galaxy - I am sure the Oops-issue is known to the forum administrators by now, but I have not yet seen a feedback on it. I had the same issue last year, but it just went away, dunno what I did to remedy it.

Bill - I hope you still visit the forum, esp. our Diner and read this: We miss ya, pal!

This is my last week in freedom and peace - next week, my training will start, keeping me busy for the next 10 weeks. I´ll probably learn how to say "Don´t move a muscle" using a 6 letter word.

Good Morning Gang,

Just stopped by for an eye opener.  Flo, I'll have the Ozark Scrambler this morning with an RC to be different.

I didn't want to start something new, so I thought I would just put this out to my friends in the Diner here.

What do you Fellas and Gals know about the "Penny Auctions" ????

I just ran across WWW.BidCactus.com .  I had never heard of this before, maybe my head has been in the sand to long.

Does it work as stated, is it legit, does it work in Canada ????  or anything else you can tell me about it would be appreciated.  If it is OK, it would sure save some funds for our Newbies buying lumber etc, plus tools or anything else the Little Woman might like to get her hands on as well.

Just curious

Good to see Bama and Paul are coming around again.   Paul, you are in our thoughts and prayers for some cooler weather and some moisture for the North Star State and all others caught in that same heat sink.  That includes my Son now in Springfield, Missouri.  The other end of the State from Cape Jim.

A Special good morning to Bill T.  C'mon Bill, we all know you aren't that Bashful.   And don't be annoyed either as this has happened to most of us at one time or another. It was only a couple of years ago that Crandell tied the can on me for having a scripture  (book, chapter & verse) mentioned in my byline at the bottom.   Those are just the rules we have to live by if we want the use of this Forum.  C'mon back in we all miss you.

Off to the lake for today and tomorrow, after having to work the week-end. Oh well, it will be quieter out there this time of the week.

The Diner should be about half way through Ontario by this time, we are looking forward to hosting it on the Prairies here arn't we CN.Charlie, SeaMonster, Blind Bruce and all I have missed.   Confused

Have a great week Gang.    Boy, if we could only have a reunion, what a great time that would be. The RBF and STRUDEL would be in high demand. We would have to hide the catapult from Barry though.Black EyeOops

Later............

Good morning. It's 81° and partly cloudy. The high will be 97° (feel like 107°) and it will be most cloudy.

Blood sugar level was 55 this morning. That's too low. A couple spoonfuls of sugar in a glass of water took care of that in short order. Blood pressure is normal at least. My sunburn from last week has turned to a dark tan. So dark as a matter of fact that my natural American Indian red tinge is lost in it somewhere. Oh well, it'll reappear when the tan fades. Just going to be working inside today as much as possible. A bit too warm outside for my taste. Yes, even us Native American rednecks have our limits. I had to do a little work on the Proto 1000 F3A shell this morning. The opening in the pilot for the coupler was a bit too small for the Athearn coupler clip and was putting a bind on it. This caused the pilot to bulge out just a little bit. So it was necessary to make the opening just a little bigger. That solved the problem. That allowed me to take care of another little problem. The headlight bulb tended to move around some so I applied a dab a hot glue between it and the light bracket it lays on. Problem solved. There is however ANOTHER problem. I seem to have lost the headlight lens. If it's not one thing it's another. I was thinking that I could make a lens from hot glue but it dries very opaque. Looks like a very thin film of white glue might be the answer. I'll smear some on a piece of glass and see how that works out. Meanwhile I'll be keeping an eye out for that lens.

I have tried IE9 two times and it messed up on this site, so I uninstalled it both times back to IE8 and no problems other than when I cause it. Whistling

What version of Windows are you using?  Requirements for IE 9 are Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Vista Service Pack 2 or Windows Server 2008 SP2 with Platform Update. Windows XP and earlier aren't supported.

Fire Fox For what ever reason I have no problems to this point getting on or posting on the site.

This seems to be selective. I can't post here from my system with Firefox and Chrome. IE will post but give error messages. My system at my parents place won't post with Firefox but IE and Chrome work fine. My neighbor can't post with Firefox and can't log on with Chrome. His IE will post but goes bananas.

This is one of the very few times Firefox has worked on a reply in the past week or so. Bet'cha it gets lost on the next one.

EDIT: I was right! I clicked 'Post' and the screen went blank and the browser got lost. I'm making this edit with Opera.

Mornin,, an irish coffee Zoe please. Got another warm one on tap today, with a chance of a thunder boomer thrown in for good measure.

Went down and seen Cowboys n Aliens last Fri, it was a purrty good sci-fie flick and would recommend it. Sat was mostly wasted in Terre Haute shoppin, did make it down to my not-so LHS, paid some on my lay-a-way n picked up some paint.

Sunday was Mothers family reunion, always fun. Deb’s great aunt made it up, so we got a 6 generation picture, to go along with the 5 gen we’ve got.

RAY,, the engine house looks better every time you show. One thing I noticed [and not being nit-picky] is whenever we roofed a barn, the long sheet of tin where on the bottom n short sheet on the top row.

1916, is some old rail, I found some old NKP section rail from the late 20 and some 30’s still in use in Neoga by the EIRR.

BAMA, congrad on the upcoming birth of #3

ULRICH,,, the section is lookin purrty good, one thing, it might take the clear caulking 3 or 4 week to clear up all the way, if it’s really humid.

KEN,,, glad business has improved some. I’ve found after a large number of years with mine. That most of the worst fights are over something stupid.

PAUL,,, sure hope you folk get a break from the heat soon. Hows the grass n hay holdin out???

GALAXY,,, yes in a few month, we’ll be complainin bout the cold, dat just be life, but I’ve learned, you can put enough clothes on to stay warm, but can’t take enough off to  cool, without being arrested.

TODD,,, we gotta 60% chance of rain here and 30 tomorrow. I just hope the rain clouds don’t dry up again afore they gets here or turn south at the county line.

The Monticello RW museum, railroad days are Sep 17 & 18’th this year, maybe you can make it this year. Their Southern 401 will be under steam. HEY maybe that’s where the dinner should go for next month.

Beast get moving,, gotta go feed the vampire first thing this morn at the VA clinic in Mattoon. Thoughts for all those in need n hope ya’ll has a goodens

Good Mornin...

This morning we are foggy, sticky and at 69F...we are going to get to 83F today in the dull and showery weather here...it looks to be that we are going to cool off a tad this week though...

mmmmmm...it is pretty weird this situation. I'm able to get in on all browsers..even the dreaded IE9 with compatibility on and no OOPs pages show up...Google Chrome..latest update..same thing...Huh?...I'm almost starting to wonder whether this forum is having server issues here and is ditching some of the users for some reason...maybe a queue processing issue of some sort?Confused

Going to an evening class today for w**k...this oughta be fun..then get to do some w**k at w**k for a small bit as well....Whistling...then it is off for a few days...heeheeheeMischiefSmile, Wink & Grin

Flo, I'll have what Todd is having please..sounds delish...I'll be at the window booth for now....

Good Morning!! Coffee and a breakfast pile covered in milk gravy please. Thank you.

What? Why’s everybody looking at me all disappointed?

A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 7am. Patchy fog before 7am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 85.- Rain has been predicted and spotted on the radar for the last couple days yet none has hit the ground. We’ll see. We could use some now. Couple inches over a couple days would do the corn crop wonders around here. Beans too.

I know I’m in early, but I went to bed at 9 and was up and wide awake at 0230. What else do you do at that hour other than cruise the forums. WHICH, since you mentioned it, I have no more issues with thank you very much. What I don’t understand, and with my computer knowledge probably never will, is why though the problems are the same, the fix is obviously not. You’d think if by clicking on the Compatibility View icon and it works for me, Jeffrey, having the same issues, and the same browser, could do the same. Then there's Barry, same browser...., no issues Weird.

Well today, other than the bookwork for the Church and a trip to the Blackberry bush, oh and a quick trip to Mom’s, I will make no plans today. Why? I want to play with my choo choo set. Yes I do. With ANY luck I will get there today.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!
