Morning All,

Just sitting here trying to get the energy to do some house cleaning. I built a old Tyco Interlocking Tower kit last night. It was so old that the price on it was $2.75. It was pretty basic compared to today's buildings but I enjoyed the 90 minutes it took to build it. I did some minor painting on it (roof and lights). I may never use it but I just felt like building something.

Lee- Sorry I did not post earlier. I goggled the title last night, found it and ordered it. I look forward to it, and Belleview is one of the locations on my layout.

Simon- I like your tower. It shows age and not great maintenance on it from the RR.

Bill/Sue- I really like that scene in the photo, I 'm just not sure who it belongs to.

Everybody have a good day.

Jeff....  I like your FM Trainmaster. Will it go through the Sundown paint shop?  I had 2 Athean Trainmasters when I was doing Southern Pacific briefly. They were good pullers. Never had any problems.

It's getting prepped now. This one is an Atlas. Loads of detail parts.

Good morning.

Nobody has said, but I thought the diner was rolling across Canada this month. How far are we? When we stopped in London, Ontario, how many donuts did Barry buy for us? Have we reached CN Charlie yet? I thought we would have the red carpet treatment. Where are the marching bands to celebrate? ...... eh?

On that note, I'll have a Tim Horton coffee and a Tim Horton donut, please.

Chris ... the Chinse 2-10-2 looks better with US flags on it. Remarkably, even the 1:1 scale imports from China. Good photography!

Ray ... Good to see more museum pictures!

 Morning Folks!

Flo, Coffee and a English Muffin please.

CakeHappy B-Day To Ulrich and PA Tom's wife! Tom, is the misses the B Unit? Whistling

Jim (Monon Guy) Happy Anniversary, how many years now? Sad news about the stand collapsing. I remember when the Coliseum blew up, guess that was around 1968 or so.

Work Front Well, I hope it picks up for me. Last time I checked with Shaun yesterday he has only $65.00 in sales for the two days. At this rate, I am afraid Shaun maybe looking for a new job.

We do have a new promotion. 30 months 0% interest on purchases of $599.00 or more! That could wake things up!

Well, time to get ready for work, see you all later.

Mornin', bucket of coffee to go please 'n thank-you...gots to go to "facetime" here in a bit. Yip yip.

A belated Happy Birthday! to ULRICH and to MRS. PA TOM.

TODD: What's THAT?? You might paint Missy's toenails?? THAT's awfully nice of you...

Hey, THAT made Rerun giggle...

RAY: Love those night photos, and yup yup, the exhaust did make for a neat effect! YesYes

I still don't remember who it was heading to the Kate Shelly High Bridge near Boone, Iowa...guess I oughta go back through the transcripts and find out 'eh? Anyhow, I forgot to mention, there IS one "Post-September 11th" thing out there: A little office trailer right underneath the bridge, next to the county road. In it, and swarming around it, are security guards. Armed security guards. They don't smile. They don't wave back at you. They've never given me any trouble as I sat up on the hill over looking the bridge, but they did make it quite obvious they knew I was there... kinda funny seeing these little black ants scurrying around and pointing and looking through binoculars. I just waved at 'em. I've had Boone County Sheriff's deputies drive past, smiling and waving, never giving me any grief.

I figure the deputy is/was used to "crazy train nuts" hanging out there. The security crew? Maybe not so much. I last saw them in 2004...

While in Boone, I'd recommend a trip over the Boone and Scenic Valley Railway.

Good morning. It's 74°F and partly cloudy. The high will be 103°F (feel like 115°F). There's a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the late morning and afternoon.

The Sundown shops are busy these days. There's a tuscan red PRR F7 A-B set to be stripped and repainted in L&A colors. A Seaboard SD45 awaits similar treatment. On one of the spurs there sits a giant Fairbanks-Morse H24-66 phase 1b Trainmaster in Reading colors, it's green and yellow paint showing it's age. It awaits it's turn in the shop to receive the MGRy black and gray colors. It's a good replacement as motive power for the MGRy tourist train. The 2-10-2 proved too costly to maintain.

Good Morning!! Coffee and biscuits and gravy please with a couple scrambled eggs thrown on there too thank you.

Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Raining now, or just got finished actually, has been for a bit. No mention of rain from NWS but Weather Channel calls for it. Local Weather Guesser hasn’t looked out the window yet so they have no clue what the weather is or will be.

Aaaah CRUD! I got up early yesterday and was soo busy whining about that, that I forgot to wish Ulrich a Happy Birthday. Happy late Birthday Ulrich!!Happy B-Day

PA Tom- Tell your wife Happy Birthday also!

Indy Jim- If I don’t make it back in before you head out, Happy Anniversary! and have a good weekend. I heard about the tragic collapse. That was horrible.

Don’t know what I’ll do today. Maybe just stay home until w**k. Don’t know. Feeling kinda blah today. Maybe I’ll paint my toenails.Indifferent I didn’t say that. I said.., uh..., Maybe I’ll..., uh... PAINT SOME RAILS!! Yes that’s it. Paint some rails.Big Smile

Good Morning All,

Curt, Herron Rail Video: Steam and Diesel on the PRR volume II.  I watched Herron Rail Video: Steam and Diesel on the NYC, Ohio division last night.  I like the videos because they show the rolling stock of the era, not just the locomotives.  Most of the footage is in Belleview, OH where power and crews were swapped as they traveled between Cincinnati-Indianapolis-Lake Erie.  NKP, NYC, and PRR swapped motive power and crews in this general area during steam and 1st and 2nd generation diesel.  Those new release freight cars I bet you can’t touch them for $6.  I bought the Athearn B&O Time Saver re-releases last year.  Very nice cars but I think a set of 6 cost me $60 on sale.

Ulrich, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!

Sue, I hope to be gluing backdrops this weekend.  Downtown I have a grocery distributer-cannery from Walther’s back drop buildings.  The 16’ wall behind the port town will have the printed brick buildings and maybe a cloud back drop behind those. I did the clouds on Corel Draw, printed on 11 x 17 sheets glued to masonite.  The freighter picture I hope to post this weekend was bought from the internet.

Evenin' folks!

Janie, just a decaf for me, thank you.

Went over to the R&GV RR Muyseum tonight for the monthly meeting....  Most of the meeting involved riding on a train back and forth, up and down the line......  Always like our Summer meetings. We decided tonight to hold next months meeting our at the museum so we can ride up and down the line some more.  Sounded good to me.  Actually this is a major anniversary year for the museum so we will be having a celebration out there to celebrate it.  The celebration will be mostly riding the trains up and down the line.  My kind of place!

Our 45 Tonner (1491) THAT has been in the shop for several years is awaiting decals for the sides of the cab.....  Won't be done for another week.  The company making them is behind and has put back the date of delivery.  The decals are the RG&E Logo that originally graced the loco.  She won't be out and running on Sunday for Diesel Days.  A good many members (particular the ones who have several hundred hours of work into her are not happy!!!  Here is what she looked like tonight:

I told them she would never pass the rivet counters inspection as a model.  Way too clean!  I suggested she get a good dusting with weathering powders to make her look reasonably correct.  I was promptly told by the guy doing most of the painting THAT the only dirt and grim she is going to get will be from setting in the yard!  Period!  Some of us did have fun picking on him.

We did have our annual August night photo shoot anyway, but used the 80 tonner and the PC Caboose we ran for the meeting.  Got some good shots:

My favorite is this one.  The smoke from the engine exhaust was floating to the front just right to create a neat effect....

Hope you all have a great night, and good morning and happy birthday Ulrich!

Evening, all

Whew, what a busy week. Been performing with my band out at our state fair. Attendance has really been down since the tragic stage collapse last weekend. I heard that tomorrow they will be giving free admission to try and attract crowds back for the final weekend.

I'm heading out tomorrow for a weekend away with My Much Better Half to celebrate our 22nd anniversary. Can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to that!

Not much happening on the layout for the past few days. Did get a chance to start putting some gloss coating on a new creek I've been toiling over. Haven't even been down to the basement since the last coat cured to see what it looks like. It'll have to wait until Sunday evening now.

Hold down the fort while I'm gone. Later, friends.

Hey, it's a double birthday!

PA Tom says his wife is 72 years young today.

Happy B'day to Mrs. PA Tom as well as Ulrich.

Plenty of cake for everybody.

Curt .. Thanks for the comment on Reggie's Junk Yard and Auto Parts. I completed it last winter. It was in WPF then. Reggie is working on his hot rod in the lower left of the picture.

Here is an overview of it.

Evening all--it hit 102 today (the prediction was for 90), so the annual August heat wave has finally decided to roll around.  Needless to say, I only spent the morning in the garage on the Great Engine Terminal Problem.

Actually, I think I got most of it solved--except for one turnout.  I re-engineered the layout a little, switched turnouts (plopped in a couple of Sinohara's among the Pecos) and except for one recalcitrant turnout leading into the engine house (naturally! Sad), everything seems to be working--for NOW!

Curt:  Yes, I did need to run a couple of feeders.  I didn't have to worry about that in the new yard, as the turnouts are all laid in sync in a 'ladder' formation--all the points going the same way.  I've got a couple of diverging turnouts in the engine yard, and I think that was the problem.  I've still got to find out the problem on the one turnout--not all the rails seem to be powered at the diverging end.  I'm very carefully cleaning all the rails with contact cleaner--as soon as it cools off in the garage, I'm going out to give it another try.   Hopefully, if everything works I can start ballasting the yard tomorrow.

Ulrich:  Happy B-Day.  Here's to many more.

Well, that's about it from SunnyCal--have to feed Spooky and Uff-Dah, Spooky is sitting next to the keyboard giving me THE STARE, so I know it's time.

Best to all, prayers to those in need.
