How about that, my first pic ever. The tunnel is under renovation, so will not be abandoned for much longer, but it is now. The two cars are leftovesr from my previous life back in the 60's.

Show me a sunset. (This has been my project in July, I'd like to see what others have tried.)

Show me a rural 1-track main line (at least 85% scenicked)

Now that's something I can come up with very easily since the SLOW is a one track mainline for most of its length...

Show me an Abandoned Tunnel Portal.

Rich, it's been a while on the 4 track mainline request, would you like to change it?   If not, guys give it another hour from the eastern daylight savings time on this post and then it's anybodies game, maybe someone has a 4 track mainline on their layout?

Thanks guys, I keep telling her that also!Smile The people are just ordinary ready-made Preiser figures, but they needed some chopping to fit into the car.

Santa Fe;
The pics were taken using the standard 18-55mm kit lens that came with my Canon camera. I used a tripod, no flash, and used the self timer to avoid shaking the camera. The background is plain white paper, and the only light source (apart from ambient light through the windows) is a desk mounted magnifyer lamp (the kind with a circular fluorescent tube around the magnifying glass) above the car.

The camera settings were as follows:
Focal lenght: 41 mm
Aperture value: F22
Shutter speed: 1/6th second
ISO speed: 100
Exposure compensation: +2/3
White balance: Auto
AF mode: Manual
Metering: Centerweighted average
Picture style: Neutral

The original pics came out a little dark, but since I always shoot in RAW mode, I edited the RAW file (increased the exposure and changed the color temperature as I saw fit) before cropping the pics and exporting them into Photoshop Elements, Where I reduced the pic size to 1200x800 pixels and saved the JPG file.

Favorite built up Jordan Kit: Mine is this railbus, based on a Jordan school bus kit:

It uses an NWSL Flea for drive and there's even a flywheel.  The pilot wheels are from an N-scale boxcar that I got at a swap meet.

Let's see a Jordan vehicle from the '20s.

Superstition-y: The rails were full of them, like leaving couplers open or engien numbers or whatever. Probbabyl because soemthign REALLY BAD happened because someone did it, but it developed it's own lore. I figured someone creative could take it and run.

Abandoned siding: Thos one really is, too. A long time ago (well, twenty years, bu that's a long tiime for a model railroad) this track ran to a penninsula called Bison Springs, and was a resort. That area was referred to as a weddign cake, because you had three levels of stuff going on there, and was a general maintenence nightmare. Then the mines closed, the track was ripped up, and all that's left of that main is rthe bridge, and a track that is now Miller Mine's Outboundf loads track2

Superstitiony huh?

I'm tempted to post a photo I took last year of our old 45 Tonner from RG&E.  I cought a glimpse of "Ready Kilowatt" standing on the walkway.... His hand is on the right side cowling.......

But since we can't use 1/1/ scale stuff, how about old Uncle Albert who swears he saw something in the woods near his still one afternoon a few years ago.  It has become a local legend...

Show you a movie?  Here is a small layout designed to selectively compress the already selectively compressed MGM movie studio back lot of 1930-40s-50s.

And following MGM theme ("Wizard of OZ") show me something Not in Kansas Anymore.

CSX_road_slug

It's been over 3 hours since a waterfall was requested, and I don't think the 2 or 3 members with waterfalls on their layout are following this thread.  I propose we broaden the scope to include the things that spawn waterfalls:

Show us a river.

Just tieing up a loose end, since a waterfall surfaced after you posted this.

Those blue cars are part of the Walthers-made NRA 2002 exclusives. There's 5 cars, each with a different name on the other side, and a material handling car. Athearn made a Genesis for it, but good luvk finding the thing.

Lift Bridge. Does anyone have a lift bridge??? Going once, goijng twice...
SOLD to the man with a chimp on his shoulder...

Well sorta. I can't find the picture I took of this assembly, but this showed up at a Great Train Expo in Indy a few years back. It's a pneumatic lift bridge...

for people.

Let's see a movie

Sir Madog

jalajoie - that´s exactly what I was looking for! How´dya do it?

That scene is from my club layout.

The water was made using Woodland Scenics "Realistic Water" for the base and 3 to 4 layers of "Water Effects" to simulate rapids. Between each layer of "Water Effects" a very tin coat of white paint was used.

The bridge is scratch built and represent an icon on the Canadian Pacific line. It is the "Stoney Creek Bridge" in BC. I am sure Grandell knows all about this prototype.

Still looking for a lift bridge
