Thanks for the compliments on my control panel everyone, I think it looks pretty cool but I can't take credit for thinking it up, both Lee and Todd told me how to do it. I love the way the expierenced modelers help out us newbies without the attitude here.

Janie, since yer making JIM a RBF...I'll take one too.

JIM: Thanks Pally! Ya know, I built THAT thing so long ago...I'm trying to remember just how I did THAT weathered look. I think I just slapped on some good old Floquil primer gray and followed it with a few doses of somebody's (Floquil?, Poly S?, Testor's?) "weathered white." At the time, I was considering a layout set in the 1970s, so it may be a bit "heavy" on the peeling paint for Tony's 1950s...but like I said, if he's happy with it then it's all good.

Good news! Good news! I finally proved, on paper at least, to my satisfaction THAT I can have a fairly accurate, albeit shorter, impression of the CCP (ex-IC/ICG) Cedar Rapids "A" yard on the future layout. At the other end, I've got a track arrangement I think I can live with for the Cargill plant. I may yet dig through my stack of track diagrams and see if I've got one for THAT plant in real life...might be able to finagle in something a bit closer to life. In-between...uh...not quite "joy and rapture" just yet. At least this time, I didn't end up risking a concussion by repeatedly slamming my head into the desk.

CURT: I'm liking THAT PRR themed panel. I'm thinking about doing THAT same thing, all the way along the fascia rather than on one central panel. But then again, I'm going around the room point to point style.

A question for you-all. As you know, I'm big on the CNW. So, the fascia will be CNW green with CNW yellow track lines. But, for the Chicago Central and Pacific yard...should I keep the CNW colors for consistency sake? OR do the fascia in CCP colors for THAT portion of the layout???

RAY: Thank you for giving me one more reason to (when "substantial completion" has been achieved) to go with some kind of carpet stuff under the layout.

One last thought before I yield the floor and have a seat at the RC... here's a project I started quite some time ago...about a year at least:

It's still not quite done...but getting a lot closer.

Afternoon/Evenin', Janie - I'll have a bowl of chili with some oyster crackers, grated cheddar over it, and a RBF, please 'n' thanks! (And the color today is May-flowers pink, since what wasn't drowned by all THAT April rain should be popping up shortly!)

Looks like we are somewhere in Europe, based on the colorful loco in Ulrich's pic link. That is one thing, in Europe their locos have more than just 'plain black' steamers! Would we be in Mecklenberg? (I cheated - looked it up using a search...) Ah, I see you beat me to it. Thumbs Up, Wayne.

SFCouple (Wayne), your layout should be fun to run - I loved that site where you got the plan. Amazing stuff on that site. Did you know the person who had made that layout? His trees were awesome, too. Thumbs Up

Hey, Ken, I figured it might be a stretch, but t'was worth a shot. As you said, sure wish those orders would be going out sooner than later this (or the next) month!

Chris, I stopped by Wally's place after I posted last night and picked up a copy so I could see your handiw**k. You did have that one nailed on the elevator - almost got me convinced to make the one I'll be building weathered grey (but not quite...). Sounds like (from your comment) someone else needs to get his CFO more occupied with stuff in the house...Whaddya think, Todd? Wink

Barry, I'm guessing on your post, that you put the additional typing in between the photo and the actual end of your re-post. (But I could be wrong...) Sounds (KA-BOOOOMM!!! Surprise) like you've been having bunches of the t'underboomers your way, eh? Your doctor's waiting on the last of the test results to make his/her best guess, I take it.

Thanks to all for the compliments on the record shop (which started out as Walthers' "Southtown HiFi"). I decided that the owner (I'm thinking "Big John's Stacks of Wax" might be a good name - if I can fit it on the signboard) wanted plenty of light in from the windows, so his patrons could see all the great selection of 45's and albums that he has in the shop. Still leaves enough room in the back area for receiving shipments, the employees' bathroom and a lunch area, though. I plan on fixing up a small speaker under the shop's location on the layout (wherever that ends up being), hooked up to a small mp3 player or such that will be playing 1950's music. THAT's my plan, anyway...

Curt - if you liked the plan, go see the link that Wayne posted to the site whose plan he's started from. THAT guy did a great job - totally droolworthy! Stick out tongue I see you did your layout panel in Pennsy colors? Cool! [Cool

TeenSteam, I'm waiting to see how great your Jeep looks now after the painting is done. Please post soon. Yeah

Galaxy, get the exterminator in soon; I hear those bedbugs can be a major problem! How you got them (at this point) is secondary to: "How (and how quickly) can we get rid of them?" Glad your migraines are better today (and hopefully soon gone).

Earlier today, I was looking online for info about tents for camping. Of course, after thinking about your 'glitch', Galaxy, I may have to check whether those li'l critters can be brought home from a camping trip...

Also (last night and) this afternoon (on a more MRR'ing-related topic), I started putting together the Woodland Scenics "Rocky's Tavern" (white metal casting kit). Except (borrowing from somebody else's idea that I read somewhere...) I'm going to have it be the town jail for one of the smaller towns on my (eventually enlarged) layout. I got the first two walls CA'd together okay, but then had a dickens of a problem getting the next two to stick together. Even tried using medium-thick CA, but it didn't w**k as well as the thinner (liquid) CA that I had bought from Hobby Lobby (the five-for-whatever, smaller tubes of CA in a package). Today I got the second pair of walls to glue together, after sanding some grooves down and straightening one of the walls. And I got about all the extra CA off my hands from last night, too. Oops Have all five walls together and curing at home now (on the kitchen table/AKA MRR w**kbench). Still to measure and cut a piece of styrene for the roof, put some cast metal details in place, paint things. Probably later in the week or next weekend to get it 'finished' and post photos. I'll use the cast figure of the "drunk sleeping it off" somewhere else, as the windows are kinda small for any visible interior detailing.

Ulrich - Twenty-two trains daily? Big Smile Talk about a railfan's dream! Thanks for posting the photos, too.

Todd, I think the Germans pronounce Bad Doberman differently than THAT breed of dog. Smile, Wink & Grin You're gonna need a new truck soon, with all the schtuff that you've been hauling around in the past year or so. Can you get yourself scheduled to w**k all the days of next year's Village Yard Sale? Just a thought...Whistling Ah, I see you've already got yourself into hot (or maybe sorta hot) water by asking the "Why?" question in response...Bang HeadBlack Eye

Welcome to the Diner, Thayne, and yeah, that's about (I guess) how THAT phrase got started (though I think it was more of a problem in my grandparents' generation than it has been until lately. Hey, tell us a bit about your layout and/or plans while you're here, please. My treat on your choice of beverage (no, other Diners, I am NOT volunteering to cover everyone's grub and whistle-wetter, thanks! Payday is a few days off yet...). Ya gotta watch out for the top of page here, Thayne, with this bunch of chowhounds. Dinner Would love to see pics of your spray booth (or the other stuff you've built), too.

Ray, I see that Mr. Murphy has (for now) moved from Jeff's place up to yours. While you were under the layout, did you find all those little Kadee coupler springs that go flying off when you're trying to put them back in? Devil Or just a bunch of other little things to scar your knees for life? At least you got the derailing problem fixed (for now...).

NSJoe, good to hear the college choices are looking up for you (or do you think the other colleges will be closer to train tracks? Smile, Wink & Grin Sorry to hear about your team's loss, and rest up that shoulder like your trainer said.

LoneGeep, c'mon into the Diner, and Welcome. Yep, as the others said, there are almost no 'off-topic' topics here, including even MRR-related ones. Think of this place as the online equivalent of a local place where everyone comes in, grabs a soda/coffee/bite to eat, catches up with others on what's going on. This group pretty much will NOT nail you to the wall if you ask a 'newbie' MRR'ing question, nor for you wanting to do things differently than someone else does (unlike what sometimes can happen out in the rest of the online...). Care to have a beverage of your choice on me, and fill us in about your MRR plans and/or layout?

Saw THAT Robby had posted some weathering w**k (locos) in WPF, and Crandall (and other Diners) had some really nice photos in there too (Garry - excellent shots there, and I'd agree with the one comment - when will you be getting your stuff into MR?).

I went ahead and posted my photos of "Big John's" record shop in WPF also, since I don't usually have anything for in there.

Well (almost full to the top of it now...), we have r**n again in Cape G.-land Storm - Oh joy, oh rapture! Bang Head This wet stuff is getting really, REALLY old now.

Think I'll sit at the RC for now. Glad it's not doing the 'liquid sunshine' thing here in Mecklenberg.

Blessings and prayers (including for an end to the Storm),

Jim in Cape Girardeau

TMarsh,  Thanks for the welcome! I had a layout (1st attempt) I tore it down last fall. I am gonna start a second layout attempt  any day In a different room in my house. It's a loft on the third floor, about 10'x20'  The ceiling is sloped on one side from the roof so i have been racking my brain on what or how to move forward. I have pretty good woodworking skills and I have a pretty good shop in the garage and I am lucky enough to have quite a few nice tools lots of clamps and pretty much any thing a guy would need to make a great layout. Anyway I guess the thing I am missing is a plan for the bench work and a track plan. I thought about just building some bench work to fit the room and to go from there. But I don't think that's the best way to go? I spent the winter building a pretty nice hobby room for myself.(I think) I made a large desk with some shelf space. It has power and a lot of light. I also built a air brush spray booth and a couple of other tables for projects display and storage. I could post a few pictures if any of you are interested? The paint booth works great some of you may want to see it so you can make one for yourself? To answer your question about the club I mentioned.  It is just a group of railroaders we get together once a month for a couple of hours and share idea's and work on projects. We usually have some one give us a clinic on anything from scratch building or weathering etc. this month one of our expert members is doing a clinic on DCC. Should come in handy for a beginner like me. Any way thanks again to those of you who said welcome! Thayne,

Afternoon All,

Flo could I get a RBF please?

Hot today of course. I started today trying to find tape for my control panel. Found it at store 3, the problem was the width. So I laid down the tape and painted over it. I then pulled up the tape. It's not perfect but I am happy with it. Photo below. Thanks to all that helped tell me how to do it.

Galaxy-  Hope your migraine gets better sooner rather than later. Good luck with the bed bugs. Everytime I hear about them it seems like they are something out of the Middle Ages.

TMarsh- I know what you mean about the other half. Sat I decided I better go to the Apopka art and plant sale with her. I may not be very smart but after almost 33 years of marriage I know how to read the wind so to speak.  I joined a train club when I got back into MRR after about 40 years. They have a large layout and I have made several new friends. They are also a very good knowledge base like this site and are willing to help me in my construction if I need it, so the club works for me.

Thortenney- Welcome. Like you I really enjoy this forum and there are some really great people here.

Ulrich- It's good to be back in Germany, although when I was there in Buedigen it was still the FRG (early 70's). My father was stationed there and I finished High School in Frankfurt.

Everybody have a good night.

Afternoon.

Urlich- 380? that's not far. My mom puts more than that on her van in a week. My last name is Lohmar and a little google search turned Lohmar Germany up.

BTW, where did you grow up?

Well, (dark subject) I got a picture of the Jeep. Since the picture's been taken, the back hatch's been color sanded.

Its not the best image to get the flake in, but that's basically how she sits right now.

Hello Lone Geep, Welcome to the diner. Here we talk about things that are off topic mostly. What are you doing today, what's going on in your world, and we also talk about trains and layouts and that sort of stuff.

Afternoon guys.

I finished today's goals on my research paper, and was able to find enough time to stop in and talk for a while.

Yesterday morning, I want to an open house at Lafayette College in Easton, PA (morning was free because our game was in the evening, more on THAT later...). It was great. The college had just about everything I'm looking for, and the campus was amazing. The only thing is that it is a little on the close side (about an hour from home). However, it's still far enough where I'll have to live on campus (not to mention that it's out of state), so it's not a dealbreaker. Not to mention that NS's Lehigh Line is within walking distance. Mischief
It's definitely staying on the keeper list. Of the three I've visited so far (Lafayette, The College of New Jersey, and Catholic University), it's in the top spot. I'm still planning on visiting Rutgers, Lehigh, Northeastern, and maybe a few others, depending on what I can come up with.

And yesterday evening, we were in Round One of the Morris County Tournament. We were last (20th) seed, and we played Pequannock (13th). THAT was beyond a disaster. We lost 18-2. Obviously, we didn't make it to Round Two...

And I think I did something to my shoulder. It's been bothering me on and off for a while now, but playing has never bothered it. However, practice on Friday and the game yesterday were hurting it, so I talked to the trainer. She said just ice it and rest. So we'll see what happens with THAT.

Well, THAT's enough from me. What's new with you guys? I'll be at the RC if anyone wants to talk.

EDIT: Looks like I've got TOP. Eat up, but go easy on me, cause I'm still broke!

Well, the headache has eased some.

Had to cancel with RE agent to visit open house, but it is one of three in a row for sale and the highest priced remodled. She is really nosing around aobut the cheapest taht may take an offer in our league. supposedly reno has been started, but depends on what they did and did not do as to how it can pan out for us. A gutted house is not in our plans and the finished house is only $18k more than the one that reno has supposedly started on.

So I am washing stuff in HOT water to put in PREHEATED DRyer to Kill off bugs. I think we just started withthe infestation. MOH has a coworker whose whole rental building took the landlord to court over bed bug infestation he wouldn't do anything about. MOH thinks brought home from work.

3 months ago we put an entirely new hypo-allergenic mattress cover on the mattress as the cat had clawed a rip in the old one {"kneading the bed" with claws out} and we KNOW we had NONE then. SO it's recent and wouldn't have caught it if MOH didn't have that mosquito netting over the bed for decoration {I hated it...would get my hands caught in it at night}. and saw the bugs climbing up inside it.

Train nut friend coming over tonight to see us and bring maps to go over route to get to Florida to help hie 94 y/o G-ma out who is being taken advantage of by a man his mother {g-mas daughter} put as executer of her will and who really absconded with all the money train nut's mother had that was supposed to go to G-ma and to kids naturally. Wasn't a lot, but he scammed g-ma  and kidsout of it . He wants to know how we get to FL driving when we go for best routing. Pretty simple really and they have new fly-overs for Baltimore and DC now completed so should be easier than when we went last.

Train nut bought one of those "car bra"s for the front end to keep bugs off. I told him NOT to put it on unless he plans to repaint the car as the bras wear the paint away due to friction and heat up and bubble paint in hot sun. Taht is why they were all the rage and fashion years ago, then quickly went out of style. SO I told him to ship it back and get his money back.

Well, obviously I am feeling better as I have written a book or at least a novella.

Afternoon folks!

Ow, ow, ow....!!!  Ouch!  Oh nothing Flo, just been crawling around under the layout on my hands and knees for the last hour and a half.....  I think I'll have a nice hot cocoa to tide me over to supper, and since it's chilly outside the cocoa would be nice....

Man my knees hurt...  I manage to find every rough spot in the old concrete floor down there every time I have to crawl around under the layout.  But........ Big SmileBig SmileBig Smile  I think I may have finally corrected the problem in the tunnel.  This, of course is the reason you always leave yourself some kind of access to the track in a tunnel... I wish I had left access for a bigger person than what I was 25 years ago when it became a tunnel.  I added an extra board along side the track as protection in case of a bad derailment in there, and ran the train again.  Derailed again.  Sooooooooooo  (please note this is G in the key of C), I crawled under there standing on my knees to be able to watch the loco go through and with radio throttle in hand brought the train through it.  Derail!  Back it up, put it on track, and run it through again.  Derail!  After following the above sequence about 10 times I finally notice that in a short section that is both a curve and a grade change, the old code 100 track is not supported well on one side and when the loco goes over it, it leans just enough to let the front truck climb the rail.  I remembered fiddling with it way back when I was putting it in and saying to myself, "Self, this is good enough.  I'll probably never have any problem with it even though it was p!$$ poor workmanship.  Nobody will ever see it and it should be fine....."  Yeah, Right!

I spent an hour measuring, cutting, and gluing in some wood bits and pieces under the side of the rail which wasn't supported.  It still looks like.......  But now, finally the loco can navigate the area without derailing.  Or at least, did make it through the couple of times I ran it.  On to other things now!

Need to figure out how to get the soup safely out to my son's house for dinner.  And find some Advil....

Later!

Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooood afternoon, BARRY-sized cheeseburger platter with a bucket of Coke please 'n thankya.

So (not a needle pulling thread...), Germany 'eh? Cool.....always wanted to visit the ancestorial ancesteriorial, heck....the place where my descendents came from!

Thanks for the kind words about THAT elevator. I was just happy Tony found it good enough to use on his layout in the first place. I think THAT Cody dude from MR was looking more at the overall scene rather than the structure...but it sure is swell having very indirectly made it into the pages of a MR publication. Tony said the photo shoot took 3 hours and MR bought his text and 75 photos. Having never made it to any of his operating sessions or round robin w**k sessions, the article was my first in-depth look at his empire.

Hold THAT thought...Mr. Rerun is telling me he needs to go decorate the yard...

Well, THAT was an adventure...between barking at the neighbor and rolling in dirt/grass clippings at the edge of the yard, its a wonder he found time to empty himself!

I 'spose, having delivered content to Boring Proofreader Dude and having finished the mowing for this week...I just might take advantage of the rest of the afternoon by doing something RR related. I could get a bit more prep w**k done in my office for the future staging yard, or I could go slap some paint on parts of the benchwork still needing it, or I could really torture myself and take another stab at finalizing a trackplan.

Decisions, decisions, decisions. The good thing: none of them can possibly be a "wrong choice;" especially since the Wife is happily w**king in the former downstairs bedroom which she is converting into her art studio. An occupied wife means a free man!

Afternoon folks!

Back from church....  Had reception of new members this morning.  So, cake and punch right after the service with a chanced to shake hands with all the new folks.

Chloe, I'll have a chicken salad sandwich and some potato chips along with a decaf for lunch.

Ulrich....  At least I had the right country!Whistling

Todd, your a good husband to know when it is best to just nod your head and say, "Yes dear!"  Then get to the tasks given.....

Galaxy, good luck getting rids of the bugs....  The ones out there have become immune to most pesticides (probably from biting people who have absorbed the pesticides from the food they eat....)  Yes get an exterminator over and follow his directions to a tee.  You may find yourself getting rid of a lot of bedding, clothes, and other stuff where they can hide.

Jeffrey, nice photo of the engine house and of course the billboard....Big Smile

I'm going to get to w*rk a repair job on the layout, and then I have to pack up a very large pot of soup to take over to my son's house for supper tonight.

Later!

Sigh As I sit here listening to the neighbors mower bog as it churns through his "field", let me tell you how my life has changed in the last hour.

At 10:29 and 30 seconds AM CDT, Brenda asked me what my plans for the day were. I sid Mow,take the furniture in town then play with my trains. At 10:29 and 45 seconds she said....."oh".  At 10:30 I made the mistake of saying "why?". From 10:30 and 15 seconds until approximately 10:40 she outlined what she "thought I would do". I sat in silence digesting the list and have decided it is in my best interest to comply. Life in the fast lane gentlemen. Life in the fast lane.

Welcome Thayne. Do you plan on a layout of your own or just the club? No problem either way, just curious. People join clubs for many reasons. No room for one themselves, much larger layout than one could have, probably that one could have access to a much larger layout than could be accomplished for a fraction of the cost. Clubs are good, though my approach to MRRing doesn't necessarily click with a clubs. Not that I'm selfish, just that what I envision is probably on the outside of even what freelancing would allow.

Time to submit to the master.

Good morning. It's 76° and cloudy. The high will be 86 (yeah, right) and it will be mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of showers this morning and a 20% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.

Today I'll go down and look at the tractor to determine what parts I'll need to fix it. Hopefully just the right tie rod end. If the weather permits I'll use the little Yardman rider mower to mow the yard.

See everyone's here. I may see how far we are from Lohmar Germany

TSF - that´s about 380 miles. Incidentally, Lohmar is not far from the place where I grew up.

Thayne - Welcome to the Diner! Great story! There is a good thing to even a bad thing! Why do I feel so itchy right now?

The Diner is open for anybody to join in in our chat about the daily things, some of them are related to model railroading, and some are not. Here you´ll find a great bunch of folks of all walks of life. Good to see new people joining.

It´s a slow Sunday, sunny, but with a cold wind. I got some sort of hay fever, I could sleep all the time.

Chloe, strong coffee, please.

CUL!

Good morning.  Hello. My name is Thayne, I live in Sandy Utah (usa) I have been following all of your posts for along time. I really enjoy this site and i feel like i know a few of you. (if that makes sense?)  I am fairly new to model railroading, I am into HO scale. I joined the NMRA, I am also a member of a great new club that just started up here a few months ago, I saw the msg's that Galaxy posted about bed bugs and I just had to tell a quick story, My daughter and her roommate had a bed bug infestation. They had a Orkin come out and spray several times, Finally the bug guy decided that they needed to get rid of the sofa, So the two gals hauled it out side while they figured out how to get rid of it.  Anyway here's the good part, Some one comes along and steals the sofa, Ha Ha, I hope they enjoy the new sofa! I laugh everytime i think about it.  Good luck galaxy, Sleep tight don't let the bed bugs bite!

Good Morning!! (plops down in the booth. With a look of disappointment) Just coffee please. Thanks.

I was reeeeally stoked about the cleanup this year. I decided to toss a bunch of stuff. But when I got a chance yesterday, I could not come up with much at allAshamed. I envisioned this heaping truck load and a couple trips. Two fans and that old 2 cycle snow blower and an old 2 X 4 X6 inch. There is still today, but what? I admit I have been trowing things away in the regular trash, I quess I threw away more than I thought.

Garage sale went well. Until the end when they looked around and said “what are we gonna do with this stuff left over?” I had the brilliant idea that the answer is 2 blocks away at the village/township garage. (That’s where the dumpsters and piles are for the cleanup day) Then someone mentioned a place in Springfield called Inner City Missions. A Faith based program supported mainly by Churches but no one Church in particular. They give the stuff away to the needy. One step better than Goodwill AND you have to be needy to get it. Perfect right? Wrong. I happened to be there when they decided this. Guess who had the truck? One load yesterday and I have to take the few pieces of furniture today. Not to mention the small amount of suff Brenda bought and the few expensive items a couple of folks donated but put a price on. ( one guy brought a Canon digital SLR wih an extra lense and a bag and some other camera stuff. He said take no less than $200. If it doesn't sell, he wanted it back.  I undrstand that. Someone else did the same with a couple antique fishing reels only he said $10 a piece)  I'm still not through moving this stuff. Brenda says this is the last time, but she said that the last two times.  I knew I should have stayed home and mowed, but I suppoese that would have caused other problems, if you catch my driftWhistling. Oh well.

Ray- I liken the Village Garage sale to a vast outdoor Walmart. I like it, there are some treasures to be found if you can attend, unlike me, but as you said, it’s the mindless walkers and drivers that are the problems. Like pushing the carts in the store, they drive and stop in the middle of the road with a cell phone to their ear and stare into garages, driveways, yards, even the backs of others pickups taking inventory, I guess to call in a strike on the sale or let it be. Meanwhile traffic is trying to get through and the walkers think the road is like the striped zone at the Walmart. Just dart out and don’t even look.  Cars or not.

The last few years the Village has put up no parking signs on Main street. Oh you should have heard the fallout on that one. They didn’t care that the road is as Ray described and with the one way bottle neck it caused, you could not get through. PLUS it is the only way the Fire or Rescue can get to the other side of town. With the road lined up and cars jaming the aisle, there was no way a rescue truck or ambulance could have gotten down the road and no way for the cars to get out of the way. Like convoy trapped in a canyon. This year they signed only one side of the road. Worked pretty good, but this year only a couple people on Main street had sales.

Saaaaay! Has everyone seen Robby’s car in the magazine?! Congrats Robby! Looked real.

Chris! I shall look for yours. Congrats to you too!

Jim- Very nice looking record shop!! Very nice!

Looks like it's about time for an update shot of the ...Confused....Whatever I call it Railroad.

TSF- I started to play Spot the Looney, but soon I realized it was like being in the middle of the ocean and saying “see if you can spot some water”

Wayne- Freelance/ Freestyle eh. YesYou’re singing my song. Glad to see you’ve planned for expansion too. If given the room, it inevitably will happen. Often sooner than planned too.

Well, gotta mow and like I said take some stuff into Springfield. Hopefully like Barry, I’ll get to shift into choo choo mode today

Bad Doberman?! Strange name. Kinda scary. Pretty though.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Sir Madog
I myself feel pretty much worn out these days.

Ditto to that!

Sir Madog
Jeff - I saw your picture in WPF - just great!

Thanks. That was a car barn and maintenance facility on the extension of my previous layout. I've re-purposed the main part of the building as an engine house on the east side of the main part of my current layout.

sfcouple

Upon further review (and googling): Mecklenburg, Germany???? Bush was nearby during a G8 summit (whatever that is) and may have ridden a narrow gauge train called the Molli????

Hey, I'm trying....new here and don't know if you guys/gals visit international destinations?

Wayne

With all those storms and bucket loads of rain you had recently in the US, I thought it´d be nice to move the Diner to friendlier weather.

Wayne - you´ve got it! We are in Bad Doberan, a charming little town close to the Baltic Sea coast and the staring point of "Molli". Molli connects Bad Doberan with the seaside resort of Kuehlungsborn, is exclusively steam powered and runs more trains a day than most US commuter lines.

Hope you folks did not mind traveling that far last night!

Edit: The place is about a two hour´s drive away from my doorstep, but I have never made it to there. With the price of gas exceeding the 4 ) mark now for a gallon, there is no way I could afford to spend the $ 45 to go there.
