Good Morning from the Big Sky Country,

Lee, if you make a rhubarb pie please send me a piece....I haven't had rhubarb in something like 40 years and it sounds great...

Today I plan on laying my first piece of cork roadbed on the recently completed benchwork.  In the past I've used Liquid Nails but this time I'm gonna try white or yellow glue---hope it works. <g>

Good Morning!! Dark roast and steak and eggs please. Over easy thank you.

Busy day today with just too much to list. I do plan on getting some RR time in though. But, the best laid plans of Todd's and men….

Not train related, but here is a link to a video from some group that visited one of Williamsville’s very own. Frank. Frank’s one of those guys you’ve known forever and when someone asks what his last name is…..you have to think. If you need it, see Frank. If ya don’t see Frank. If you ain’t got nothing’ to do, go see Frank. Franks has this old towtruck, two actually. One for the summer and dry weather the other for other times. The dry weather truck has a sunroof. Does it leak? Well, technically I think it has to have glass in it first to be referred to as "leaking". You'll often see Frank driving around with some treasure swinging from the boom. This last weekend it was garden tractors and scrap fencing mostly. I'm sure all of you know a Frank. Anyway, his place sits right in old 66 just off uptown, I think in one brief second there they do show uptown. The shot that includes the RR crossing.

(ahem. yes dear) I would be remiss (?) if I did not point out the video also gives a glimse of part of the elevator Brenda dictates over. There. Got that out of the way.

ROB!!- Glad to hear from you!! Whew. Was getting worried. I agree, tornadoes are neat….., on video.

Welp, best get a move on. Got two sump pumps to fix. One for Mom’s house, the other for our pit the washing machine and the……”Hobby sink” dumps into. (he he. Don’t tell Brenda but I’ve dubbed the laundry sink, the “Hobby sink”. Cool huh. ) And I must be sure I allow the appropriate amount of flex time for pipe length issues and I need to still get the grass off the yard, oh the list goes on.

PLUS! I’ve already decided on chili dogs for lunch. So I got THAT goin for me.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Galaxy, looks like you have a busy social schedule this week......Smile, Wink & Grin

Well this week the Dr.s get me- I have the psychiatrist, the cardiologist, the neurologist and the gastroenterologist on Thrusday for a colonoscopy! Today I am on the "clear liquids only" diet and tonight I take massive amounts of laxative to clean out my system. I shall be grumbly all day.

Curt Webb

Galaxy- You know what frosts me? It is that companies like Exxon made Billions in profit last quarter and no one can do anything about rising gas prices. A Hess station by work raised their prices by 10 cents in one day. Ridiculous.

Oh, I know, AND they still get "corporate wellfare" from the gov't. AND BP raked i a few Billion in profits that SHOULD go to those who lost and for Cleanup in the gulf!!!

Packer

... She then said she like Toyotas and Kias because you could "drive them off a cliff and they'd still run." (Galaxy, I know you have something to say about that one)

Yes, I certainly could! I LIKE the Kia Sedona minivan, but having replaced so many things including sliding door latches; having the sliding doors freeze shut in winter due to water collecting inthe door gaskets-which are being replaced; replacing the motor mount cushions at 45K miles; replacing the passenger side remote control mirror; replacing the heat/cool system baffle actuator;  and several other things...ALL UNDER WARRANTEE thank Goodness! makes me wonder about Kia's quality control. I have about 2 months left of time warantee and 6K of mileage warrantee WHICHEVER COMES FIRST before I will have to PAY for repairs does NOT make me very happy. The other thing is that when tehy have to order parts {there is a factory in Georgia}, they all have to come on a slow boat from Korea!!!! The new "improved" motor mounts {which are not supposed to deteriorate like the old ones} took 3 and a  half months to get here from Korea!!!!! As the parts I need are NEVER the ones they make in Georgia!!! While we were waiting for service on the Sedona one day, for kicks and giggles we test drove a Kia SOul and a Kia Forte 5 door hatchback. WE didn't like the soul very much at all but we loved the Forte wagon a lot. both had about as much storage area. But I would question buying the cars for fear I'd have the same problems! Kia has not yet endeared itself to me.

ROB: Thems is some nasty pics you shared! glad everyone is OK...that IS what I read correct? BArns and such can be rebuilt lives cannot.

Well above I told you what my day will be like,

SO I will close now and leave you good people to your daily lives!

The Prayer candle is up for those in need of thoughts and prayers!

Have a great day!

Good Morning All,

Flo I would love a cup of coffee please.

Computer connection seems to be working better today.

At w**k again today. I had to decide whether to wear a jacket for a cold front that is coming through today, it's supposed to get to a chilly 86 today...brrrrrrrrr.

Took a quick look at the building kits I recieved last night. All 3 boxes are pretty heavy so there are probably lots of parts. I shall see.

Bob-  That sounds like a really interesting job. Are you guys looking for something specific?

Good Morning,

Thortenney compost is when you make a big pile of leaves and sticks and let it sit until it turns into something that looks like dirt but smells like manure.  It’s very good for plants, just be sure it’s not too “hot” for the plants.  If it smells like dead fish it’s too hot. (hot= too much organic material still decaying, not good for seeds but ok for seedlings).  I get it fresh and normally have steam rising out of the shovel. Manure is grass, leaves, and sticks processed through a cow and smells like compost…. LOL!

Rob, Looks like you had one big party!  I’m glad you guys made it through the storm ok, how did the house survive?

Ulrich: “Hobby Search in Japan has informed me, that there is a shipment on the way. I have found out what it is”.  I don’t get it, is this like a train of the month club or something?

Garry, visit Great Lakes Hobby in Utica while you’re there…

Galaxy, I paid $4.29/gallon for diesel and gas is $4.19 for economy-regular.

Jeff, it looks like the A-Team parked outside the public library…

YES! It looks like the rain stopped for a couple of days! When I walked through the yard this morning I was leaving size 10 puddles behind in the grass.  We have had so much soaking rain that the rhubarb is almost ready to be picked for the first time this season and the grass is growing really thick at about 1”/day.

Well, another quiet night at w**k.

JimRCGMO - You are correct in that I often am up late or early. I have a rather unusual job. I w**k for a telescope for the University of Arizona. Very high radio frequency observations. We run 24hrs and right now I am on nights. We do 7 X 12hr shifts in a row and then are off for a week. I get to tinker w/ the trains in my spare time. I probably have the highest railroad in AZ (we are over 10K ft).

TeenSteam - nice work on the Jeep. I like the IH symbol BTW, I have had three.

Didn't get a chance to mess around w/ the new Kato Unitrack set. I started w/ some EZTrack that I got for a decent price on the bay, but wasn't that impressed w/ it. The hobby section of my local Ace Hardware stocks quite a bit of the Unitrack and recommends it so I thought I'd give it a try. I may be relieving them of one of their Digitrax DCC units as well.

Good Morning, Folks!

We had a little rain last night, but not enough. The sun´s out again.

Chloe, a bowl of cereal and coffee, please.

Rob - boy, what a sight! We have had some pretty bad storms in our neck of the woods, but they hardly leave that much damage. I am glad the storm left you and your kin unhurt.

No plans for the day, my hay fever will not let me do some more ballasting work - ouch!

Blessings!

Edit: I just saw that Sawyer posted to the Teen MRR place, so he must be doing OK. He posted a video of his new layout, which is looking very mature. I guess he just does not want to hang out with us old farts Laugh

Evenin' Folks!

Flo, just a decaf for me...  no, no pie thank you.  Yes I know it is fresh baked and just came out of the oven, but I have a blood draw in a couple days, and don't want to risk being bad right now....  Maybe this weekend...

Grin......Big SmileBig Smile  I think i have finally gotten all the bugs out of the new passenger train!  Big SmileBig Smile  Had company over tonight, an old MR buddy of mine who taught band here in Geneva for a couple of years.  The passenger train went over all the track without even hiccuping once.  No derailments....  Smooth as can be!

I also made some new signs for turnouts and track on/off toggles.  All my track, turnout, etc. controls are mounted in the fascia board around the layout.  (Can't see any reason to be walking around with a radio throttle and have to run to the other end of the layout to throw a switch.....)  The guest wanted to know why i didn't automate some of the turnouts so they would just be thrown the way the train is running.  i reminded him it is 1925 on the SLOW and the train crews were responsible for setting switches and so are we.... Wink

Rob...  Wow!  I am very glad you got through the storm without any personal injury.  Looks like you will have plenty to do for a while.  Thankful that you, the Mrs., and all the critters are safe!!!

[edit] OK, I see I have the top....  Flo, put it on the tab and I'll bring cash tomorrow...  They only get one piece of pie each though!

Have a great night!

Rob, boy that could've been so much worse. Count your blessings. Sounds like Ken might be able to do the same.

Well, another evening fighting another battle in the Great Homework Wars. Trying to help my son grasp three-dimensional curves, when he never really got very good at two-dimensional ones. So much for train time tonight. I'm off to bed.

Not sure if I can post a pic from face-book or not, so this is an experiment. If it works, this will be a view of our mailbox and the road which was blocked by downed trees for a half mile.

Evening.

Well, just got a hit on my Jeep's scheduled return to the road. My dad's shop's now backing up. I can't do any final assembly until everything's buffed and the gas tank door is repainted. (I sorta sanded through, Maybe just a bit.) Angry I was hoping for the end of the week but no. Aw well. there's nothing I can do.

Good evening everyone. Flo, could I please have a Coke(no, not the steel mill kind) with ice. I haven't been doing anything much lately except for school. I have been debating on relocating my incomplete paper mill against the back wall of the layout though I still have to make the pulpwood tracks work. This way, the warehouse will be able to hold more cars. Other than that, I'm not to happy about the gray weatherSigh.

Jeff, Never seen a van with dual exhaust before. Looks different (in a good way)

Thanks. The credit for that has to go to my nephew. He constructed the entire exhaust system himself. No cat, muffler is a cherry bomb. Very little back pressure. It sounds a lot like a diesel. He did the same thing on his truck.

Hey guys

First day at the new store went very well. No drama, and actually had a fairly fun crew to work with (as opposed to a conspiring crew of people who should be in jail). Only issue I had was I was told to come in at 6, but really didn't have to be their till 7 and I was suposed to get out at 2, but got out at 2:30. But since i was scheduled 40 hours, I already have 1.5 hours of overtime. Raise the roof I guess

One of the girls that works their really cracks me up. We were talking about cars; and then she told about how she had an escort and hated it enough to sell it; and grew a disdain for fords. She then said she like Toyotas and Kias because you could "drive them off a cliff and they'd still run." (Galaxy, I know you have something to say about that one) If anyone can recall when I wrecked my 97 mustang, I was ale to drive it onto a trailer and then off the trailer into the garage to be gutted. I asked her if she drove, and if so what. She replied she had a 2000 camry, but didn't drive it because it needed a new engine (my mind is already telling me to start laughing). I asked why and she said the heads leaked oil and her roommate ran it dry and caused the engine to sieze up, and that it couldn't be fixed because it was an aluminum block (I've messed with aluminum heads, but not blocks). I asked her how many miles she had and she said it was around 96k. I had to walk a way to chuckle a bit. My car has 215K+ and doesn't leak oil, and has only broken down once on me (original distrubitor died around 213K) but it's a fairly easy fix. I didn't let her know about that.

Took one of my books back to the college now tha tI'm done with my general ed classes. I paid $50 for this book since I bought it from another student, and got $44 back. It was also the very last book of that type they would buy back. Lucky me.

Rob, Good to hear that you, your house, and your critters are alright. I've never seen an actualy tornado per-see, but I have seen water spouts and dust devils (all in florida)

Jeff, Never seen a van with dual exhaust before. Looks different (in a good way)

Wayne, That's a good one, but a shot and a splash of what? I told some friends about that one and they suggested bloody mary and a napkin over the top of it that looks like a turban. (too over the top?)

Vincent

Whistling

ROB,

It is so good to hear from you. The lot of us here have been quite worried about you and Bama,  He hasn't checked in yet.

We of course new it was bad down there but were praying that you could duck for cover and that you folks and your critters and home would be spared. So good to hear that it was.  Sounds like you have lots of firewood for next winter with all those trees down.  Take it easy cleaning up, we are not as young as we once were. You've got all summer to get it back in order.

We always wanted to see a tornado, just didn't think we'd actually ride one out. We're OK, all our critters are fine and our house is still standing. Damage on the farm includes missing roofs and lots of trees down. Most of our power poles went down and the road was blocked by downed trees for a good mile. Could have been much worse. I'll post a few pics in days to come. What a rush!

I'll have a strong coffee in a STORMY SOUTHERN mug, please.

Hope all my friends here in the Diner are doing well. Cheers! Cowboy Rob

Afternoon All,

This is my third attempt posting. Computer is having connection issues and is very slow. I ran a complete virus check with no issues found so I don't know. I am using a Sprint 3G air card.

At w**k today. Temp got to 93 today with no rain, So another hot, dry day. We just all got new uniforms and I am not sure I like the pants yet, they are thinner which is cooler but I think there will be an issue with the knees. I looked online last night at the Tichey site and wrote down about $40 of detail parts I want to get when I get to that stage. MOH called me to let me know my buildings came in today so hopefully I can work on them Friday.

Galaxy- You know what frosts me? It is that companies like Exxon made Billions in profit last quarter and no one can do anything about rising gas prices. A Hess station by work raised their prices by 10 cents in one day. Ridiculous.

Lee- That is a good idea, but based on the small size of the control panel I think I will put it on the fascia instead. I showed the club president a picture and he said "You Pennsy guys are unbelievable". I don't know what he means Confused.

MOH had another run in with her half sister at the house. I will be so glad to get rid of her (SIL), hopefully soon-it's only been 13 months now with no end in sight. MOH refuses to throw her out.Grumpy.

Well I hope everyone has a good night.

All for my wifes garden,( I do all the work shes takes all the credit) Then I got the oil changed on my old gmc, had to get emissions and safety inspection also, then i stuffed it all in the mail with a 135.00 check to the great state of utah. I was figuring I spent more on the way home than I made working all night! No wonder I never seem to get ahead?? Any way things are good here, I hope the rest of you are doing ok?   Thayne,  livin the dream in salt lake city!

Five o´clock - it´s tea time!

Buttered toast, scones, tea and two profiteroles with a banana, please, Janie dear!

Ray - would some of you folks be so kind and send some of the wet stuff over to us., please - I need a break from my hay fever. It comes with a blocked nose, sore throat and a headache. Yuck!

My MRRing activities have come to stop - can´t do any more ballasting, just a sneezer sends the ballast into orbit Crying I had planned on finishing the ballasting job this week, but won´t be able to do it. The coming two weeks I will be with my father in northern Germany, taking care of him while my Mom is in hospital.
