I had an enjoyable Christmas day. I got a 2 ton jack for my van along with a pair of 2 ton jack stands (my nephew says I can just leave those with him if I don't have space for them. Yeah, right!), a new jacket, just my size, small tent. A pair of seat covers for the van. I really needed them. The seats are so threadbare that the foam is showing. I also got a new (to me) camera tripod. It's been up in a closet at my parents place for the last 25 years and they decided it should go to someone who is going to use it. It's much heavier than the one I've been using. My old one will flip over in a light breeze. This new one won't. It cost like $35 at Wal-Mart in 1985 and is heavy enough to do curls with.

This Gentlemen, is what I'm faced with.

Never leave the trainroom unattended for too long or the "I'll just set it here for the moment" issue will raise it's ugly head.

Afternoon/evening

Hope you all got what A} you wanted for Christmas; B} What you needed for Christmas.

The smell of the christmas ham is wafting through the house should be done in about 1 hour. Rice pilaffe, asparagus tips and candied carrots will round out the meal.

for Christmas {in case you haven't read my "trains under the tree" thread is:

My haul from Santa and My Other Half {MOH}:

Locos: DCC OnBoard Chessie GP 40 {I have wanted for a long time}; and a DCC OnBoard D&H GP38-2 {MOH and mine intials are "D" and "H" so we have begun collecting "D&H" stuff- which is nto easy as not a popular fallen flag...

RRCars: C&O and B&O BOx cars {B&O and C&O and CHessie and CSX are my nromal runs}; and A B&O Gondola; and a D&H Boxcar and D&H COvered hopper. I am sure there are mroe D&H stuff in my futer {if we can find it.}

So 2 locos and 5 Cars, good enough for me!

MOH {who is into trains also- N scale}- got:

Loco- Kato GG1 {wanted desparately since March and I bought it way back then before they were out}

RRCars: A wanted Santa Fe Overton set, and open air tourist passenger car {both thought to be "key-yute" [Cute]}; several freight cars....including-you guessed it- some D&H!!!, flats, tanker and such; and several {about 8} Pennsy passenger cars to haul behind the GG1! {the GG1 did also see freight service}- so about 25 RR cas in all; and a signal light; and a dozen winter trees for the under-the-table-top-tree-Snowy-christmas-scene-layout with both HO loop and N scale loop that MOH wants to creat-we are working on a new board for the layout now.Next year will be better.

Quite a haul for BOTH of us! from each other and santa claus.

I also got some big and tall clothes. Much needed. I have a weight gain problem with my medications and I'm all belly. But the Big stufff is short and exposes the bottom of my belly, so We've ordered the tall versions in the 2XL and 3XL versions to hang down over my belly and cover it nicely. The tall versions are naturally longer than the bigs, and hang down further, plus the 3XL dress shirts will tuck in my pants and stay tucked in! Onlyest thing is the 3XL dress shirts are STILL to small to button at the neck on me for a tie. WIll have to get extender buttons as I am also all neck. A 20 inch neck doesn't quite do it without strangulating me. I also got a king size catalog in the mail and one in the package of shirts we orderd. I see some more ordering in my future.

well I best go and attend to basting the ham

MOH got a few clothes and a european Swiss Army made travel "purser bag" an over the shoulder affair that holds mega amounts of stuff, ideally for travelling. I have one I call it my "man purse" {nope- not affraid to carry one with allt he medications and stuff I have to carry with me}, and MOH liked mine so much that MOH was jealous and wanted one too! SO I got 3- One for MOH and two as backups incase zippers fail or such. I used to have a "belly pack" as my "man purse" but they are hard to find {TIll I found one in the King sized catalog} to carry my stuff and medications in.The Swiss army made ones should last for years and years, but we had trouble finding them to begin with so I bought the extras. LOVe LOVE LOVE it. Actually found them at Target, of all places.

Have a great dinner y'all!

The smell of ham will be wafting through the house shortly.

No trains for Christmas. Brenda and I decided one gift of modesty. We have most all we need and want. Well, that’s not exactly true, need yes, want NEVER!!!Mischief But buying for each other at Christmas is getting extremely hard and to forgo the fake smiles and to use space for things we really have no use for, we decided to just tell each other what we want, get it and wrap it. I asked for and received one of those halogen work lights on a tripod. Actually two lights on one stand. My others have no stand and I often wished they did. Now I have one. She wanted insulated bibs, and already was out in the snow with Grandson Anthony throwing snow at Missy who….. ate too much egg casserole for breakfast and was letting everyone know itEmbarrassed. Hey, I told Brenda it was too much but noooooo! Gassy thing she was. I got so bad and often, people were becoming red faced from laughing. Hopefully the ham smell will over ride the….. Other smell. I also got her (Brenda) one of those Pizza Pizzazz things. She has said in the past she thinks she would like one of those. Yes, she glared at me for breaking the rules, but it’s Christmas and she deserves something nice and new to cook things on for me.Smile, Wink & Grin

Larry- Sounds like you have the same recipe as my wife Brenda except she also uses brown sugar.

ConfusedI guess that doesn’t make it the same recipe does it.

Ulrich- I very much agree with Ray. You do have a beautiful home. Um, do you really need the table? I mean, nice space and lighting for a corner layoutWhistling.

I have located my tripod and like Jeff, I think I’ll check out how it’s held up in the trunk of the old Roadrunner all these years. Should be OK

Best get going before Petra comes looking for me with the rolling pin after that table remark. I’m going downstairs to reacquaint myself with the train room. Big Smile

Good morning/afternoon/whatever it may be where you are. It's 42° here at the present time and won't get much warmer as the high today will be only 47°. It will cool down more towards evening and the low will be around 26°. No family festivities yet as we're holding off until my father gets home from work. That will be about 2:30 (central) then the mad dash to the tree will begin. Well, they can dash and I'll follow along at my top speed of 2 mph. I've been keeping busy this morning getting my cameras ready, making sure the batteries are charged and that they have good cards in them. I've also checked out the tripod and find it to be in good order. I must remember to take a small flat tip screwdriver with me so I can easily mount one of the cameras to the tripod. I so want to catch the look of surprise on the face of my niece's brother-in-law when he unwraps one of his gifts and finds a toy monster truck then turns it over and finds the real surprise on the bottom of it. The keys to a real truck! His jaw should hit the floor with a resounding thud. Until later, enjoy your Christmas day.

Good Morning All!

Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes other then Santa was pretty good to me and the Ham is slow baking in the oven..I was going to bake it yesterday but, decided to wait till this morning where it would still be fresh and moist with pineapple juice-I hate dry ham so I bake mine in pineapple juice and baste every 30 minutes.Comes out tender, moist and melts in your mouth..I add the pineapple ring the last 30 minutes and garnish with cherries.I gotta stop watching Rachael Ray and Paula Deen. Laugh

I shall have a cup and look over da forum.

Merry Christmas!

Good Afternoon,

Petra and I feel slightly on the low side of moods, as Christian had to leave so early this morning. Well, aside from that, it has been a bright and beautiful day - a picture book Christmas day!

Those icicles are more than 3ft. long!

I am going to rest in my favorite chair now, watch some stupid old movies and think about the good old days.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

 quoting Jeffrey:

My niece's brother-in-law (17) has convinced himself that he's getting a truck for Christmas. She went out today and bought a Matchbox monster truck. She attached a surprise to the bottom of it then painted it dark green and wrapped it up. I so want to see the look on his face when he (#1) unwraps it and (#2) when he turns it over. That should be PRICELESS!!

I took drums in elementary school and SOOOO wanted a drum set...so my parents got me one for Christmas....a miniature one!

Turned out I couldn't play drums very well. after all.

EDIT: Christmas dinner is on me: HAm, Rice pilaf, Asparagus tips and candied carrots!

Gaudete!

Christus est natus!

Venite adoremus...

It is not so early in the morning and I am up - have to take Christian to the train station, at least I have to make an attempt. Do we have a White Christmas? For the first time in my life, all of Germany is covered in a thick coat of snow. Not a good time for those, who have to be on the road, be it by car, train or plane. Even the train service is down due to the snow condition and many people could not spend the Holy Eve with their loved ones.

Flo, I´ll have that Christmas Special breakfast, with lots of coffee, please!

Blessings to all of you!

Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas to all!

Flo, a glass Milk and Cookies if you would, and a Beer Whistling

Did lot of running today and did buy a few gifts. Sue is getting a electric can opener, I know that sounds really bad but every day I hear about how she wants one. I all so got a bottle of Perfume that did not completely stink to me from the Sex In The City series. Personally if woman want to attract men with a sent, make it BACON scented!

Todd Boy that was a lot of typing, it started to make my eyes bleed. Big Smile I all ready figured out the first step is done by computer, in fact in one of the listings it stated it.

Lee, Thank you for the PM and I will be getting in touch with you after Christmas. I would like to get some ideas from you on the resume. One of the things I have done a lot of is inventory control and loss perversion.

I am going to stop feeling sorry for my self and pull my self up by the Boot Straps again! Plus I really want a stable I can count on income, something sells does not offer.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all good night!
