Vincent, says it was rebuilt from NW 4141 here
NW 4141 was, as you guessed correctly, a GP38AC. Believe it or not, she used to have a high hood

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Flo....I'll have a burger....with free range, and grass fed beef. If you could top it with organic veggies, and hand pounded mustard I'd appreciate it! Oh, and a tall glass of ice water!
The sun was actually out today here in Western Washington, which is a tad bit rare this time of year. Mt. Rainier was out in all her glory. I spent the day in the impact area of Ft. Lewis doing a range clearance. Walking around in the tall, wet grass marking rounds that failed to function as designed. It's fun, relaxing, and the guys all get to joke around out of the spot light (we're the only soldiers allowed out there).
Got burned on eBay. Took the fellow over a month to mail my package, and the locomotive came in pieces. That's the risk you take though right? I've had plenty of good transactions though, so I won't be steered away.
Vacation with my parents next week. Excited about that. Get to show my dad the club layout....and the rest of Seattle's attributes. Happy Tuesday everyone!

Hey guys
Polished the car today. Still not quite done, but it makes a whole lot of difference. I managed to pick up a set of ford motorsport underdrive pulleys for $50. Not to bad IMO.
Ken, Was that UPS or USPS? I'll take the rack too. Although I probably won't be able to get it out till next week since there is a trainshow this weekend.
Sawyer, Nice pictures. Wondered why it looks a bit different than most gp38-2s. Looks like it's a rebuilt GP38AC
howmus Evenin' folks! Came home, threw on a better jacket, and went over to stand in line to vote... The new type machine accepted my vote or so it said.
Evenin' folks!
Came home, threw on a better jacket, and went over to stand in line to vote... The new type machine accepted my vote or so it said.
Thats what the machine told me AFTER it finally took my paper ballot from out of the folder they gave me to "hide my ballot".
We're not happy with the new system.
My vote isn't secret anyway....they wrote down the number on the paper ballot they gave me right next to where I signed my name to sign in to vote!!!! The machine, {unless i missed it and it shreds them}, still has my ballot with my number on it inside it. SO anybody who has access can look up my ballot number and see how I voted, or how anybody voted anyway. The paper ballots shouldn't be shredded anyway, as they are supposed to be "backup" to the numbers tallied.
No, we're nto happy with the new system. the old lever system behind the privacy curtain worked well for NY for what was it...120 years?
Flo, I'll have a big bowl of the beef stew and dumplings and a cup of decaf to wash it down with...
Took the load of wood over to my son... He is now happy. The 3 year old Granddaughter started pre-school today. Art says she went right with the teacher and sat down with the other kids with a big grin on her face. She has been wanting to go to pre-school but has been a bit scared of it as well. I bet she will have lots to tell Grandpa this Sunday when I see her. The little one was all exited to see me today, and got upset when I left..... (As were the dogs, so no big thing.....)
jeffrey-wimberly Guess it didn't occur to whoever to simply bend it straight again, or maybe they didn't know how. Who wouldn't know how to fix something that's so simple or just replace the arm completely. The wiper arm holds on securely now without the aid of any glue.

Good Evening All,
Long day again but it's just about time to finish up paperw..k and head off to the museum. Good job they had those plastic widgets you needed Jeff (or at least the one you needed and the dozen other novelties - hmm for a gondola they might make nice cargo covered in thin cloth and put on some wood pallets).
Garry - I'm jealous you got to go on the Sadona rail line. We did the Grand Canyon trip in the dome car a couple of years ago and just missed the last train of the day a couple of days later at Sadona when we were flying out the next day. Happened on it by accident we did. The Phoenix rail museum was ok too though they were in the throes of moving and setting up in a new location. Very nice people there.
Well, here's my coffee to go and I must. CUL, J.R.
Evening folks, I'll have the Swedish meatballs.
Not much from me. Jeep's running good, do like the wide open area here though.
Of all the times something on my quad needs replacing. This time it's the battery. Just won't crank over the engine. There is a recoil back up, but it's a pain to get too. Hidden under the plastics and all. So hopefully over the weekend I'm gonna take a ride to the Interstate battery store and exchange it.

Just took some time to put the front of my van back together. I had to leave the cowl grille (piece between the windshield and hood) off earlier due to the weather. Took over 20 minutes to get the darn thing off in the rain yet it went back on in just a few minutes in better weather, though it was still a very slow rain. Also someone had put super glue on the passenger side wiper arm. Took the use of 2 large wrenches and a screwdriver to pry it off. Upon examination I could see why they used it. The lock tab on the wiper arm was bent. Guess it didn't occur to whoever to simply bend it straight again, or maybe they didn't know how. Who wouldn't know how to fix something that's so simple or just replace the arm completely. The wiper arm holds on securely now without the aid of any glue.

Evening Flo and Folks.
I take a I will take a Grill Cheese, with Ham, Onions, Pickles and Mustard and please.
Ulrich If you have the funds I have the credit card. Send me a PM or what ever it is called now and we can work out the details.
Vincent Pack up the Pearl Car and get me a cost of USP to 62062 and it is a done deal. I have not had time to take the Auto Rack back to K-10 trains. If you want it, I will take $21.38 plus shipping minus what the Pearl will cost me. Even with the new layout in the planning with nothing under 26 inch turns (main line will be 36 to 30 inch) I will never use the rack. My 71 Chargers are just to big to look right.
Printer Picked up a Cannon PIXMA MP 250 from Wal Mart for $32.00 with USB cable. One of the things I like be sides being a printer it is all so a scanner to boot! I have two scanner, but do not have the room for them on the desk. Not that I will scan a lot of stuff, but will be handy with what I found at the Maryville Library! They have a lot of Model Railroad books and some from are beloved Kalmbach Publishing! Now if I find something I want, I can save it.
That all so bring to mind Free Scanners! 1 is a parallel port and one is a USB. Remember it is either your house or the dumpster!
Wall mounted gas heater Is working fine now, in fact I am going to have to turn it down.
See you all Wednesday!
Ken
PS, see no one gave a cat but about me breaking the 4000 post mark.

So, for starters, we're in Northern AZ. .... Several years ago, Shelley and I rode in the dome car on the Grand Canyon Railway from Williams to the Canyon, and it was a nice ride. If the scanner here worked, I could psot photos, but that is not the case. ...... Also, we stayed in Sadona with the fantastic red rock moutains. Not far from there is the Verde Canyon tourist railroad, and we rode on it also. That was a very nice trip! ... There are some ruins of the cliff dwellers in the area, too.
If we get to Phoenix, I'll visit one of our daughters who lives there.

The wedding in AL was nice. Good parts include my son and his wife were there from NC. My 91 year old mother danced with the bride's maids. Later she went into the next room that had a grand piano. One of the brides maids asked Mom to play. Well, Mom is a talented piano player. Soon she was playing and people moved from the main room to hear her play. It was very remarkable. Eventually, the DJ dropped playing his recorded music, and he joined the party in the piano room. .... All considered, it was a good wedding.
Voted today.
Hope to complete my large bakery this week.

Good afternoon. It's 63 and cloudy with rain. The high should be 71 and the chance of rain is 80%.No internet service until almost noon today. Guess something else went wrong along the line last night. The cable guys were out in force this morning trying to find the problem. We finally got some rain last night. It has rained several more times since then. The rainfall amount so far was slightly over half an inch when I checked the gauge this morning and it's been raining in fits and starts since then. Went to town this morning to vote and take care of some errands. I hadn't gotten 2 miles when the wiper arm linkage bushing (piece of plastic) on the drivers side windshield wiper decided it had done enough and tore apart. Couldn't drive far in the rain with the drivers side wiper out of commission. I did a quick roadside repair on it with a zip tie and continued on to town. Stopped at the polling place and did my duty as a citizen and voted for others to to take the jobs held by the clowns currently in office. From there went to an auto parts store and got an assortment pack of wiper arm linkage bushings that included the one I needed. Just 10 minutes of work to install it and I was on my way again. Next stop was Wal-Mart to pick up a few things I needed including a an SD card reader/writer ($8) that could handle the SDHC card I got yesterday. Turns out my antique card reader/writer can't handle the SDHC card. Also picked up some antifreeze while I was at it. The ankle isn't such bad shape today so I may try tackling the layout wiring later. And somebody put a cover on my spare tire that's mounted on the right rear door. I know it wasn't there 2 days ago so it was added very recently. No idea who put it there.
Just got back from college. Has 2 tests but aced them easy.
Ken, I'm trying to think what else came in the longest athearn blue boxes. 85' flat, 85' box, I think the modern GEs may have used them too. I though you said you were going to get rid of the autorack? (I was wanting to get it) Guess 5 plus whatevre shipping is
Lee, I've been trying to keep all the boxes for the stuff I have. IMO it makes them easier to store and find (I relabel incorrect boxes)
Good Morning all...Its partly cloudy and cool here...I'll have cheese burger, onion rings and a diet Coke please..Thank You..Havn't been in for awhile..Not much new here on Pearl Street..Stripped paint on a old RSD 15..Gonna run it as a dummy and putting Accumate couplers on a BL2...Was gonna use a M/T conversion but they are cost more than the engine so I am cobbling up one in the I&S shops..I am still trying to get alittle more room...You all have a good one...Jerry
Vincent No 89 footer at my house but the Auto Rack. I have not really looked at the boxes, just seen a few and have not pulled them out yet. If I where to guess longest would be for a 54 foot covered hopper. What would you take $ wise for the Pearl car? With cost of shipping it might be better if I just sent you some cash.
Lee I felt the same way about the boxes as you did. Just got in the way and was of no use to me. I do keep the boxes for the engines in case I have to send one in for repair.
Todd, by chances do you need any MOPAR stuff? I have around 3 or 4 starters, Alternators, Valve Cover sets, and distributors. Think I have a extra MSD system as well.
Other stupid stuff no one will want. How about a old Pentium 400 computer with 125 Ram with windows 98. Pair of Radio Shack book case speakers, they where my daughters and I would make sure they work before I ship.
Well looks like the printer died, so there is another $35.00 I did not want to spend.
Wall mounted gas heater. Something I have been putting off for days. Finally pulled the faces plate off so I could clean the gas nozzle and thermal coupler. Lite the pilot lite with a fire places lighter, flame did not seem to be hitting the thermal coupler but it stayed on. For awhile that is, heard a small pop after the heater shut down and no pilot light. Fire up the air compressor and blew it out at 150 PSI. Flame does seem to hit the coupler better, but only time will tell. With winter all most here, no heat no train time.
See you all after lunch, got some running to do.
Mornin' everyone!
I'm a bit late getting here this morning, but THAT just makes a bit hungrier.... So Flo, I'll have the #2 special today, over easy on the eggs, bacon, home fries, and a double order of THAT marvelous Sour Dough Toast along with lots of dark roast coffee in a FGLK Mug.
Waiting for a call from my son to find out when I can take the load of wood over to his house. I will go cast my ballot on my way over with the wood. I won't get political except to say it sure will be good to see all the Halloween decorations finally come down.........
Ulrich, enjoy the hot cocoa. It is always good this time of year. You are in my prayers for a great interview on Friday!!!
Well best get moving. Lots of stuff to do.
Good Afternoon,
4 pm and it is slowly getting dark. We are "enjoying" the typical misery of November weather, gusts of wind, a drizzle of ra*n and temps in the low 40´s F.
Chloe, I´d like to have a mug of hot cocoa, "spiced" up a little, and a handful of cookies, please.
I am getting all edgy about the upcoming interview on Friday - it´d be so nice to earn some money, even though the best part of it would have to be used for paying back our debts. We would still have more than today, a small part of which I could use for building that layout. Oh, sweet dreams!
Galaxy -I hope your appointments with your docs go well!
Guess I go back to day dreaming about that layout - all the details are in my head
Have a good one & CUL
GOOOOOOOOOD MORNING ARIZONA!!!!
In the 20's this AM here. 40's for a maybe high today. FUrnace runnign and I can hear the dollar signs $$$$ going up!
Sorry for the heavy duty rant last night. Just got so frustrated as it took 1.25 hours to do a simple order that actually, when all the ducks wer in a row took only 5 mins at most!
WEll, I have 2, count 'em, 2 Drs. appts. today. The first is with the surgeon to have the stitches removed. I also have to find out if there is another tumor on the other side of my back as the MRI shows that has to be removed as well. Dunno.
The second appt is with the neurologist who will just do a checkup and will find out that I had the tumor removed.
The I have to do my civic duty and be sure the parties I want in office get there. THis is the first time everyone in NY has to use those stupid opti-scan ballot readers. Used to be old Lever pulls in a private booth you pull a lever behind a curtain that no one can see and your vote gets counted as a number taht gets tallied. WHile it IS possible numbers can get misread, I vote for that method over a computerized system that can be manipulated or compromised. They have been shown to be compromised and manipulated. SO not looking forward to it. ALso people can see your paper ballot while you carry it around, although they are supposed to give you an envelope to conceal your ballot until you place it in the machine for tallying. Still I don't trust it! I will be SOOOOOO glad when it is over so we STOP GETTING PHONE CALLS TO SUPPORT THIS OR THAT CANDIDATE!!!!! AND MAIL FLYERS TOO! I am Independent, so they ALL COURT ME for my VOTE!
Then we stop and get buns for special dinner tonight....my Dr would have heart attack, and i might too but only once in awhile you gotta have a tasty choice so we are having Polska Kielbasa with sauteed onions and peppers on a tasty bun! HHM HMM
Robby P. I guess today my plan is to work on the cars I bought yesterday, and I have to clean the house some. By the way....We are suppose to get some "snow" later this week from Canada, couldn't you Canadians keep it a bit longer ????
I guess today my plan is to work on the cars I bought yesterday, and I have to clean the house some. By the way....We are suppose to get some "snow" later this week from Canada, couldn't you Canadians keep it a bit longer ????
What is this, how do you call it, "snow" you speaketh of? WE may get some too with lake effect enhanced snows later this week. I am not looking forward to it. Neither is my other half.
WE have an old snow blower we are selling to a mechanic its a big one 36" dual stage electric start self propelled that has sat in our shed ofr about 10 years...it really is too big for our small driveway with two minvans parked in it. WE are selling it ot him cheap as it needs to be serviced and lubed and gas and oil changed etc. WE are thinking of getting a 24" one but dunno. still a problem with 2 vans in a small driveway in hiting one of the vans with it as the driveway is uneven. Other half has to shovel as I can't with my back the way it is, and not looking forward to shovelling at 5 am to get out for work. I can't help much either. so snow is a real dirty word around here. Other half has back issues occassionally too, but not at all like mine. Last year there were NO entrepenuering kids coming around offering to shovel the drive cheaply on school snow days. SNow is a dirty four letter word!
Well, I should go now
The dishwasher is done now.

It was a chilly 26 degrees when I got up this morning, but it's suppose to warm up later. We had a very busy, but enjoyable weekend. We drove up to the Hollywood Casino outside of Harrisburg on Friday. We played all afternoon and ended up losing about $30.00, but the wife had a good time. After dinner, we spent the evening with my niece and her family. It was great seeing them, as we don't get to visit as much as we would like. She teaches deaf children and he is a math teacher in a middle school.
On Saturday, we attended the train show in Timonium. Although there were fewer vendors than in years past, (my opinion), it was still a nice show. Lots of layouts exhibiting good ideas by some very talented folks. I picked up a couple of freight cars, which I really don't need. Proving once again that this addiction to model railroading is very difficult to overcome. My wife also bought me a 2'x4' display case for my birthday, which was on Sunday. She gets a gold star for this one.
We started out yesterday by going out for breakfast (sorry, the diner was too far away) then shopping and running errands. I guess we had more to do than I thought as we didn't get home until very late in the afternoon. All this driving must be catching up to me as I'm kind of tired. So I think I'll just do some odds and ends today and relax some.
Everybody have a good one.

Good Morning All,
29F and cloudy this morning. Did my civic duty first thing and back into the shop to get after my financial duty. Finished off the last of the concrete floor voids in the basement last night so I can continue on with train stuff this weekend (only Tuesday and I'm planning the weekend already). Won't have one of my mechanics in for a while - he broke his collar bone in two places Sunday falling off his dirt bike. He'll be ok in the long run but he really is accident prone.
Museum tonight getting the iNvisible gage track finished enough to trial run then paint and ballast next week. It's dragged on a couple of weeks longer than I hoped but with trips and distractions, it's not too late. Catch y'all later, J.R.
