That Yankee weather is being displaced by that Canadian weather that is over us now. Just be glad we sent you the warmest weather we had J

SN*W tomorrow morning, but I plan on sharing a bunch of it with those guys in Rochester, Buffalo, and the Finger Lakes!

Galaxy, you can get better deals by walking into the stores.  Our Home Depot and Lowes have refrigerators sitting at the back of the store dirt cheap, floor models or special orders that someone never picked up.  I know Home Depot offers free delivery and haul away…

A} The CAnadians can KEEP it

B} AW, shucks, you DON'T have to go and share with us!!! Really you don't! We're supposed to get some LAke Effects anyway. MAybe more up RAY's way than down my way. I'm mid-state Up-state in the SOuthern tier.

c} we are holding off buying a fridge. The TV becomes more important now that the FIL said NO to using the "emergency CC" for an early Christmas present. We do in storage, somewhere have a 12 incher that you cant hardly see across the room that we may have to use, that he said we "can use". If we find 26" LCD LED tvs too expensive will have to go on our CC,OR we use the 12incher and suffer.....at least we will have tv. I have tried about 20 times since I came home form errands to turn it on and it still doesn't work!. Thank Goodness the computer was off when it happened. as the surge protector on the TV didn't do its job. Tv is aobut 12 years old so I guess it was due to break down??

WEll Back to hunting for TVs online to get idea of prices before hitting Wally, best buy, Target, etc. There is a local out fit that has a clearance cetner here too. we shoudl check it out too.

TOMORROW is THe TRAIN SHOW in SYRACUSE Whoo Hoo! Now we really can't buy much there with a new tv on the way! Oh, darn.

Good Afternoon,

I am just back from the interview. I think I did pretty well, but I will have to wait for their final decision (which is normal procedure here). So a few more days of waiting and praying, until I finally know.

Zoe, a strong coffee in an IV bag, please - I feel totally exhausted.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have a big bowl of Hot Oatmeal with Brown Sugar to go along with the Dark Roast Coffee in a FGLK Mug.  Please and Thank You!

Jeffrey, 41°F down there in Loise-y-anna?  Hey it's 40°F outside my door right now here in the Finger Lakes.  I will keep the wood stove supplied and just sit back and enjoy the warmth....  I have to hook up the trailer to the truck sometime today if it quits raining long enough for me not to drown so I can drive through a snowstorm tomorrow out to the Museum to finish their woodpile and retrieve my wood splitter for the Winter.

Hope to have a couple of hours to spend downstairs in the train room today.  I got a good start on the building for the stone crusher.  Have to make some modifications for the hill trucks will traverse to dump loads of rock into it though.   How come we never seem to have enough real estate to do the job...???Grumpy

Well (deep subject), stay dry and warm wherever you are....

Later!

Good morning. It's 41 and sunny. The high will be 61. Pretty cool here this morning. That Yankee weather has done knocked down the Mason Dixon line and invaded the south! Heater is on low (700 watts) and it's a nice 70 degrees in here. I really don't care to set foot outside right now. My ankle, knees and back ache enough as it is. I have decided that I'm going to get started on the rerouting of the layout wiring today no matter what it takes. It has to be done before I can advance any farther with the modifications to the layout. My jigsaw seems to be non-operational so I'll have to use my drill with a 1 inch bore bit to cut out the part of the layout top that will be removed. That should prove to be interesting.

Is Wal-Mart the downfall of western civilization?

No. The twist off beer bottle cap is.

Good Morning! Biscuits covered in sausage gravy please. Make it a double. It’s coooold out there. This morning.

Maybe, I can squeeze a little time to w**k on Mom’s house in today. Gotta go see her too.

Ken- Pearl is a good beer. Did you know they also brewed the famous “Billy Beer”? Yup. They were one of the breweries that contracted to brew that famous recipe. I can’t recall which others did. I believe Falstaff also did but am not at alll sure. Since Lone Star is no longer available in this area (actualy my favorite of all)  and they no longer make Falstaff, my beer of choice is Pabst Blue Ribbon. Drank it since I was LEGALLY able to drinkWhistling. Oh, sure I’ve tried others and have changed up a few times. But for one reason or another, I always seem to come back to PBR. Stag is pretty good too. All seem to be watered down since contract brewing. Anyway, nope. I want the Pearl cars. Don’t worry, I won’t be buying many more if any. I'll save the market for you. I’m now moving on to get a couple more Lone Star cars. I have one, as well as a Pabst and a Hamm‘s. Miiight get another Pabst, probably no more Hamm's. Then to get a Falstaff or two and I will have my fleet. I’m in no hurry to get them. Like they say, never worry about losing a “rare item” on E-bay. Just hang around. One will show up again.

Sawyer- CONGRATS!

Why Jeffrey,  here I thought you bought a van because it was easier to get out of. WinkLaugh

Lee- I’ve heard similar. “The plan will perfect until implementation”. Shooting Grass? WELL! I think you should reconsider.Laugh

Ulrich- I hope it’s not too late to wish you good luck. I’m praying you do well. Or rather the hiring officials select you. I know you will do well. But just remember. The last time you felt it was the “last time”. Don’t get too worked up.

Well I’ve fooled around long enough. I must find something constructive to do until 11:30 when the truck arrives for me to unload. Trainroom? Tempting, but I’m afraid I’d get started and lose track of time or get started and have to leave thereby making me grumpy and irritable for the rest of the day.

Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!

Good morning a tall glass of wineDrinks...I MEAN a big mug of coffee! Coffee WROng time of day already! NOt awake, I guess.

Hang-it-all!

The electricity got bounced this morning and killed our {old} TV set! Obviously the surge supressor strip it is plugged into is wore out too. Now we have to go shopping this afternoon for a new TV set! we can only get a 26 incher as that is what will fit into our media center. My other half has a CC shared with the FIL in case of ememrgencies, and we will ask {I will that is other half at work now} if we can use it to buy an early xmas present! This would be considered and EMERGENCY! Hope he says yes! I've hunted online a bit and seems we can spend about $250-$450 depending on factors. If not, we DO have  a little 12incher color tv we can strain our getting-older-eyes at looking at across the 13x15 LR.

Well, I'd best be going if I am to do some other running around today. HAve to go to bank, CVS to get scripts for both of us and get a new foot at lowes for my cane, the old one wore out. ALso have to look for lighed reflectors at lowes to mark the Driveway so the idiot who plows our private road knows where the driveway is. I dont think Lowes carries TVs.

I was however, looking online at lowes at new refers. Seems an 18.2 CF simple white refer which would just fit our cabinets and space is about $325. Not bad at all. WAS thining of buying a new refer after we get xmas paid off since the door magnetic strip has deteriorated and the magnet has come out on the bottom of ours. We could probably get about $50, maybe $100 for it if we sold it and someon wanted to haul it away. OH Durn it all...forgot that the fish tank is in the way! I have a 30 gal fish tank I'd like to sell complete with solid wood cabinet base and all filters and acessories.. HAve to put an ad in the paper. I shoud get $75-$100 out of it. once it is out o f the way they can bring in the refer and take out the old one. The old one is 12 yrs old now. would like ot kep it for extra cool storage, but have absolutely no room and I think it is smaller than 18.2 CF maybe more like 14 or 16.

One of the joys of having xmas shopping done early is that you can start paying on the CC BEFORE the magic day arrives and have xmas charges half -paid off by the time the day arrives!! Not to shabby.

well I have bent your ears or rather your eyes enough for those who actually read all this stuff like I do.

got to get my day started!

 Mourning Arizonan!

Flo, bowl of Shredded Wheat with Bananas, and Coffee please.

Crossing Gate and Worn out Chassis are spoken for.

Ulrich, Hope things go well today. Thumbs Up

Lee I know you are right about planning then try to build the plan. Plus we know not a lot goes right for me when it comes to wood working. But it gives me some idea of what might work. I sure i will wing some of it as I go as well.

Chris A few Truth's in my life.

1 No such thing as To Much Horse Power

2 No such thing as To Much Money

3 No such thing as To Much Beer

4 No such thing as To Much Room for a layout.

I am luck I have the room I have, but another 3 foot across sure would have helped the cause!

Morgan Reason I have the triangle in the bottom right corner of the layout is because that are where the doors are. One is on the right side, and one in the bottom right corner. After I get the floor plan done you will have a better idea of the space I have.

Well, time to craw under the layout and clean up some wiring.

               Later

Good Morning,

One of the things I learned in Combat Skills training that applies to model railroading: Plan A is effective until first contact with the enemy.  Track plans are great until first contact with the bench work.  Maybe I’m just a poor planner….

Went to the horribly over priced hobby store last night and bought 5 shakers of static grass ($3/bottle more expensive than Stewart’s and $5/bottle more than Great lakes Hobby) but they were the only place locally that had it in stock and I wanted it before the weekend.  Speaking of the weekend; snow, cold, and windy weather is predicted for us on the lake, so if you need me I’ll be in the train room laying track and shooting grass.

Good Morning!

Bill - you are up VERY early today!

Well, today´s the day. Shortly before noon, I will saddle my horses to go to the interview. After 30 years "in business", I should have a certain routine in that, but I am still a little edgy, although I know that things turn only to the better. But there are so many hopes connected to it, and it seems to be the only chance around...

Oh, well Sigh, but a big one!

I'm not afraid of driving a tank, but I prefer the cars; agilier, funner, and better gas mileage.

You can stick with the small cars if you want to. As for me, I like having some armor around me. I'll stick with my 'tank'. Love being able to see over most of the traffic. And in the summer the women in those little open top sports cars got the skimpy tops and shorts on.Devil Well, I'll leave the rest to your imagination.Laugh

Ken, Jeff, Galaxy, Ray, Chris, and Jerry, THANKS!

I actually think i got the hard examiner, but I only made two wide turns and so passed. Had the Honda Civic; boy I love that little thing haha. I'm not afraid of driving a tank, but I prefer the cars; agilier, funner, and better gas mileage. As for the year of restrictions, well, YES! I only have two more days that I can drive until 8 by myself; then it's back to 6 b/c daylight savings time ends. Chris, that is a great pic of the CNW Geep and IC hopper man!

Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooood Evening, bucket of coffee please, with a Barry-sized cheeseburger. Thank you.

Hey, who's the kid out doing a burn-out in the parking lot? Oh! It's Young Mr. SAWYER! Congrats there Pal...knew you'd pass just fine. As for the "gumball machines," probably won't see many of them anymore, but the same admonition applies to the "disco lights" on the Po Po cars...

CUDA KEN: Man, I wish I had your kind of space...would make my RR life a lot easier. Even then, I'd STILL have to re-arrange the known universe to get in all THAT I wish I could get in.

Somebody tell me again WHY we do this??? "Relaxation?" Oh yeah... I keep forgetting.

Welp (NOT a deep subject), I still have to crank-out some content for THAT Editor yet tonight. I've got an ugly football game from Monday night to write about, a volleyball slaughter, and a nice couple who turned their schnauzer into a service/therapy dog. THAT told me they were training dogs to be companions for returning vets...they are not. They HAVE taken "Tobey" to VISIT vets in the Iowa City VA... I'll have to find out tomorrow during "facetime" how she got so far off the track on this one. Essentially, they are "trying to build awareness of service dogs," since their little schnauzer doesn't "fit the profile." I'm not sure what I'm going to make out of this one. The nice people kinda irritated me a bit. They live a philosophy taught by some "dog whisperer." They say I need to read his (expensive) magazine...presumably so I can find out all the things I've done wrong in raising Rerun lo these past 7-1/2 years...Bang Head

He's a happy, healthy dog. I'm a happy, probably healthy doggy daddy. Screw the dog-whisperer.

'Nuff said?

Evenin' folks!

Flo I'll have a big bowl of the Beef Stew with a couple dinner rolls, and a cup of decaf.  I'll go sit in the back with the rest of the guys.

Hey Sawyer!  Good on ya!  Knew you could do it all along.  Now just take care and drive safe and stay away from the gum ball machines....  And you will be getting the permanent license sooner than you think.

I started on a rock crusher building for the Quarry scene.  This is based on pure conjecture and one online photo I have seen.  Been looking for the last 3 months!  Guess Buildings containing rock crushers just aren't THAT photogenic.......  I scribbled down a rough drawing of it and been collecting all the scale lumber I have in stock to see if this is doable without my haveing to spend any more money.  I think it is.  Wonder what it will end up looking like? Whistling

Ken, good luck cleaning out the stuff.  Looks like you already have some good suggestions for the new pike!

Well, (deep subject), I guess I'll just sit and relax a while longer and ponder Stone Crusher Buildings......

 Sawyer, congrats on passing!

Morgan All I can say is HOW DID YOU GET THAT DONE SO FAST! Man that is a yard and a half there. Lot of the track looks like it will require either a duck under or a lift out bridge, am I correct?

I really need to finishes and post my garage plan. There are some spots I am going to need walking room. But dang you made the layout look huge!

       Amazed and Stunned Ken

We like Stunned and amazed.

Well, there's a lot of copy/pasting pieces, like the crossovers, and long stretches of straight tracks. Par that, and I've done quite a bit in RTS. There are a number of spots where it crosses over a potential pathway. I put 30" between the yard and the upper line, I can move that over a bit I think and get you 36, it m encroach on the grain mill. (Which can be moved, it doesn't HAVE to have the return loop I put on it) Hmm, actually, if I straighten it out, I should be able to give you 30" on either side.

QAuestion I should've asked earlier: Where's door? (Whixh will likely be on the floorplan you post)

By the way Ken, you said you like bridges right, here's a liftout for ya: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.liftbridges.com/DCP_2868.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.liftbridges.com/prod01.htm&usg=__xh1mW36YjNkRh5tFd7g16h4dXvw=&h=1800&w=1200&sz=365&hl=en&start=2&zoom=1&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=J6T4rIdOWvQDsM:&tbnh=150&tbnw=100&prev=/images%3Fq%3DHO%2Bpneumatic%2Blift%2Bbridge%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox%26biw%3D1579%26bih%3D691%26tbs%3Disch:1

Ken: Check your conversations.

Sawyer: Congrats on getting your license. Bet you can't wait for the year of restricted privileges to pass.
