PC .. Sorry to learn it was a rough recovery, but good he is able to rest comfortably now. Blessings to your son and your family.

.............................................

On the layout today, I worked on scenery. I always makes things better when it stops being just boards and track.

Happy Model Railraoding.

OK, that was one LONG day!

We're home, and my son is resting comfortably.  It was a rough recovery, but then it always is with his condition.  For now though, he's in his bed with strong meds pumping through his veins, and he's got video games hooked up in his room, along with some crackers to knaw on.  Next round of meds is in a few hours, so I'm gonna cut out and get some shut eye.

Thanks to all of you who had him in your thoughts and prayers.  I know it makes a difference!

I forgot to mark it, but is the 24" access between the yard and station enough? If not, I can move the station to someplace else as I;m not sure the station platform will be long enough if I move the north switch south (past the grain track,) I don't think that it will be long enough for Passenger. It;s the only lift-out I see a need for though. Amd by lift out, I mean somehting hinged and collapsable.

"Poop ups." Makes perfect sense to me... I mean, If I had 'em, I'd surely knock my noggin' on 'em which would surely make me say "ohhhhhhh POOP!"

Or something like THAT...Whistling

Bucket of coffee please, the full-strength kind, please and thank-you.

With a nasty case of writer's block, I managed to knock a couple items off the "honey-do" list today: replaced an old push-button light switch and hung another set of blinds. I still have at least three more outlets to replace, and they are all in the Wife's "new" studio. I think there may be one left to do in the "current" studio, but it is buried behind a whole lotta "stuff."

No meecee, micee, mousies...yet. I think I got all the likely routes in plugged. *crossing the fingers*.

I'll have a seat at the RC for a bit, then I oughta send-out some e-mails for w**k.

Evening,

I sure hope PC's son recovers soon.

Well, not much from me. Got the paperwork to pick classes for next year. A touch too soon dontcha think? One thing's for sure. NO FOREIGN LANGUAGE. the only language I want to take is German, but they don't offer it. And I am sick of Spanish. But I'm not going there.

Did get some track ballasted, as soon as I can get my air tank back, I'll weather it down just a smidge. Only enough to reflect ballast with steam engines and first gen diesels hauling wagons and coaches across new ballast.

Oh, and Jeff, 40's are nothing, It's gotten into the 30's here.

If you can read this... thank a teacher. If you are reading this in english... thank a veteran

When in doubt. grab a hammer.

If it moves and isn't supposed to, get a hammer

If it doesn't move and is supposed to, get a hammer

If it's broken, get a hammer

If it can't be fixed with a hammer... DUCK TAPE!

Got word on my forum a little while ago the PC's son is in recovery. I'm sure Philip will be in sometime soon to provide the details.

Looks like I'll have the heater on low tonight as we're looking at a low of 40. Not much going on here.

Evening all.

EXHAUSTED from hockey practice last night. Before practice, they had us do stairs twice around the rink. The entire practice was suicides and circles. Then, to top it off, they had us do sprints in our pants and shin pads after practice.

I was so tired, I just came home, showered, ate, did my homework, and went to bed. Not normal for me.

We have off ice tomorrow, and then regular practice Thursday, so I don't know when I'll be in again. Bye for now!

I got a bit more done on the quarry project this afternoon.  Started to assemble a porch and staircase on the crusher building, and added some plaster cloth to the lift out section.

Best get back to w*rk...  Should do some laundry tonight (I have to stay down in the train room while it is running, you know....) and might actually get a bit more done on one of the projects.....   (Poop ups?)

Jeff, never too soon (or too late) to whip your nephew into shape. This I assume isn't your mechanical nemesis (the one who can break an anvil)? Hope the rewiring is going all right.

Good Evening All,

I'll have a regular and just sit back here at the end of the counter while you all three try to wrestle that layout plan into submission. I think the planning thing is the hardest bit in this hobby - especially that vision thing where you can see the result from some squiggly lines on a 'puter screen. My hats off to ya.

I miss a few days and you've written an encyclopedia again. My prayers for G's MIL, PC's son (still waiting for the report back from the hospital), Ulrich's mom, Garry, Pauls' CFO and a few others. Seems to go in spurts here these medical troubles.

Good to see Lee's making good progress - nice shots, too. Der is busy scratching out a structure (bet if I put water in that grain hopper it would be a water tank after allWhistling) Once I saw the cone shaped bottom I knew I was incorrect in my guess. Hope Jerry got his lift fixed too. They fit shear bolts so the motor won't burn out, but as frequently as you have issues with that lift, the motor must be darn near new still.Even Jim reports some progress.

Jeff, never too soon (or too late) to whip your nephew into shape. This I assume isn't your mechanical nemesis (the one who can break an anvil)? Hope the rewiring is going all right.

Jerry - who made GP-9's in iNvisible scale? Will other 4 wheel trucks fit? What about motors and driveshafts? Nosey people want to know.

As for me, between shovelling dirt , doing spackle and paint touchups and cleaning, I've not gotten anyfurther than setting up the hobby bench and moving boxes of trains stuff back into the basement. But at least the strain stuff is getting closer.  Think I'll just go back to my coffee for now.

Catch y'all later,     J.R.

Bill? Huh? You had it right the first time. I'm Morgan. The "Kyle" in my sig was Dad, and Bill; jsut some guy I impersonate when Morgan owes someone money. You know, the guys who are wider than they are tall, and sell shoes made by IMI... (Are you Morgan? Does Morgan owe you something? Yes. Then no, I'm notSmile, Wink & Grin)

First he wants curves, now he wants sensible benchwork. What's next, logic? (Snark snark) Hmm.  May need to move the enginehouse back then so you can get over it to the North end lead. South end needs me to get that Horseshoe out of the way, not two ways about that that I can see. I can easily by a 24" squeeze point from one to the other, probbably can get more, but then I start running into S curves further up. The only real access holes I saw were on the left side of the yard to be "in town" and maybe inside that knot of track for a different vantage point.

And i was mostly teasing, I won;t weasel out of the TOP since I haven't been for quite a few iterations of the Diner.

EDIT: What's the Enginehouse look lik for you right now? Or do you have that yet?

Fashwave, and all this time I have been calling you Morgan? Anyway Bill how do you envision the bench work? Would there be poop ups? I am a big guy, OK Fat. I can handle a duck under / lift out section, or  maybe 2. I all so hand throw my turnouts, while the yard looks great and well drawn I will add. I don't see how I could operate it.

I am looking forward to your thoughts on the above plan.

Flo, I am paying for Bill P dinner and bring me a Beer, I could use it.

Todd You maybe right on the newer computer. I went out of my way to keep the computer lean and mean. Plus I had programs that I used to clean the Registry clean and unneeded programs from running on boot up. All so looks like Kathy (Sues cousin) was not much on cleaning up the drive. When I did Disk Clean Up, there was 3 gigs of junk! Laugh It took 30 minutes to clean up. Then I went to Disk Defragmenter, first time I have ever seen it say it Need to be defragged.

OK, little good new's. seems Atlas still lets you download both the 8.0 RTS, which I have now, all so got 10.0 to play with.

All so got are first Confirm Kill for this fall. Yep, caught of one of the furry little things. 1 down and who knows how many more to go.

Hmm. No word from PC yet, hope all is well!

Ken: How's this for a start? 4 mainlines, one K10 mine placement, one Grain ill, a yard with storage, a town, and I used your orignal space limitations, just to be on the safe side. Also, the Grain return track (IE, another place to park your grain train besides the yard) and the bottom yard track are 26, the rest are 32 and 30, or 34 and 32.

Alright Ulrich, now work your magic, and between us, there ought to be a working trackplan soon!

EDIT: Figured I would. Ken: For my posting this, you owe me the Dinner Bill. :P

Afternoon everyone!

Janie, I'll have a RBF to tide me over to suppertime.

I'm am quite obviously back from Penn Yan delivering the old chain saw to the repair shop/dealer.  I also stopped down to the local Post Office and mailed the SOQ (Statement of Qualifications) to the Region AP chair in Canada.  By the time I arrived back here it has started precipitating outside so I'm not going to be able to spend the rest of this afternoon stacking firewood........

TRAIN ROOM................

YES!!!!!!!!!

Later!

 Just a quick stop.

Took some cars to the LHS, so hopefully some will sell.

I've also been working on some wiring for the layout, but its not going right.   I just want to control two engines....one switching and one moving freight.    Once the switcher is ready to delivery some cars, have the other engine come into the yard (and the switcher leave).   THAT'S  where I am having trouble.

Lee..........I thought about it.  Might make some money!!   Also you are getting a box in a box.   The powders were coming by flat rate, but I didn't realize that till the post office pointed it out.  I put the original box in a bigger box.  So............You should get them in 2 - 3 days.   Don't worry they are packed good.

 Garry.........I sent you a email.

Vincent.......Here's a few shots of the BN.  Our camera is getting old, and its not giving out good shots.  The roof is darker, as is the car.

Ah, lunch time already....

Zoe, I'll have a roast beef club sandwich, tater chips,, dill pickle, and a large unsweetened iced tea.

Got the trailer light fixed.  Turns out it was the easy thing to fix, blown bulb.....  Of course I spent a half hour testing all the wiring first. Sigh  I have a bunch of automotive lights in the workshop down stairs THAT have been hanging on the hooks down there for a couple decades or so.  I spend another half hour making sure I didn't already have an 1157 bulb..... I didn't. Sigh  I drive over the the very big chain auto parts store in town and grab a 2 pack of 1157 bulbs and wait for a clerk to show up....  Finally someone waits on me and he, of course says, "That it?".  I say, yep, THAT is the only thing THAT appears to be broken today......  He then spends 5 minutes trying to sell me injector cleaner....  I ask him why my trailer would need "injector cleaner"?  He says it would be for my truck.  I tell him I'm driving my Yaris and I doubt injector cleaner will improve the 40 MPG I am currently getting on it.......  He still tries to sell me "Injector Cleaner!"  I didn't buy the "Injector Cleaner...."  Got out to the car and thought of what I should have said....  He, he....  I should have asked him where I would put the Injector Cleaner in my Tesla????  Smile, Wink & GrinLaugh

So the new bulb has been installed in the trailer, it works, and the trailer has been unhooked from the truck.  Both the cats and I have had lunch, so now I can scoot down to Penn Yan to  the chain saw place.......

Later!

Ken, I can loan you a couple of snakes.  If you let them have run of the house the mice will go away then Sue won’t have to carry the broom….

Every year I have a problem in the garage with field mice chewing through everything I own.  This year I broke down and bought the green blocks of poison, I think I’m up to 20 confirmed kills so far.  One made it 10 feet down the driveway before it collapsed.

Robby, sounds great, now when are you coming out with that instructional DVD?

Brakie, are you going to any of the layout tours this weekend?

Jerry, how old is that kit?

Mornin'

I'll have a cup of dark roast coffee and several refills in my FGLK mug this morning.  A few of those chocolate covered donuts Bill brought in would fill well too!

Prayers have been said for PC's son (and the whole family), Galaxy's Train Nut Friend and his MIL (and for him and his wife as well), and several others here in the diner.

I already dealt with about 40 emails this morning, and not any Spam among them....  ".... but I don't like Spam!

Ryan, I went to your page to see the recipe and started to drool all over my computer keyboard.....  You inspired me.  Had to go shopping yesterday afternoon and bought myself a nice Sirloin Roast for dinner (and lunch and dinner for several more days).  I didn't do the Blackened Rib Steak, but I will when I get a chance.  BTW, would the recipe work with other cuts???  I assume it would.

Garry, the chapel car is very nice.  A real comfort to be able to sit in there and commune....

Managed to burn myself yesterday morning while making French Toast for breakfast.  Flipped a slice over in the frying pan and it threw a glob of hot oil over on my hand, so I have a nice dime sized 2nd. degree burn on the back of my hand to deal with........

I am going to spend some serious time in the train rooms today!!!  Really, I am....  Nothing is going to get in the way....  Right after I fix the light THAT is not w*rking on the trailer, take the Museum's chain saw to Penn Yan to see if it can be repaired, stack some more firewood, and start cleaning the house....  really I'm going to get down and w*rk on the layout!  Sigh

Good Morning! Coffee please. Lots of coffee. AND a couple of them donuts Bill brought in. Thanks

Busy day today. Hooowever, do to some unforeseen circumstances that would take way too long to explain, I juuuust may end up in the ol train room for a bit this early afternoon if all goes as planned. Of course there is always the Mr Murphy visitsSigh.

Brakie- Gee ain’t it funny how time slips away when in the train room, but doing something else to get there takes so long.

Jerry! You’re not suppose to gorge yourself just because it’s a buffet!. Wait, that’s like the pot calling the kettle blackWhistling. Glad you enjoyed it.

Ryan- Good to see you again! Another mouth watering recipe I see.

Ken- If you use a computer like I do with the similar type programs as I do, and it sounds like you do, you probably will not see any faster performance from one to another as they already have been working faster than the human mind can think for many years. (Especially mine.) The RAM is where the improvement can be noticed and seem faster, which I guess it is, because it isn’t having to put away and open another book as much. So, if the programs you run run sufficiently on 512 then larger Ram will not be a noticable difference. THAT is all I know about computers. You’ve drained my knowledge. I am tired now.

Never did learn much about computers. They are a passing fad so it would be a waste of my time. They will go the way of the 8-Track tape. Pencil and paper, they will still rule. (wait, didn’t someone say about the same thing regarding cars? )

Oh well, best take a quick ride on Garry’s Chapel Car for those we’ve mentioned and especially G’s MIL and PC’s son before heading out. Sooner I get started the more likely I will to have time to do something to the layout other than hug it.Indifferent Did I say hug it? I didn’t mean that. I never hug OR kiss my layout.Indifferent Did I say kiss? I don’t do that either. No! I don’t. I’m outta here.

Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!

I don't have  a fear of mice...I just don't like them munching on my property and especially DYING INSIDE my house boy! does one little dead  mouse stink! It took 3 months to get that smell out of the room/house!

We will probably spend most of the day at the MIL's bedside today. SPecial thoughts and prayers are requested for her!

Special thoughts and prayers go out to PC for his sons operation, I am sure he will do fine.

For the rest of you, have as great a day as you can have.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

 Mourning AZ

Flo, I take a cup of Coffee with cream and sweat and low pleas.

Well you folks lucked out! Won't be seeing any layout drawing from me foam a while. Before I messed up the old computer I had backed up the Atlas RTS 8.0. When I installed yesterday and opened it, it looked a little strange, but everything looks a little strange on the newer computer so I did not think much about it. Today I opened it, and all the Library files are missing. None of the track plans are there, no track, no buildings only thing in the RTS is the program for making the bench sizes? Guess I will have to try downloading the 10.0 version, ha problems the last time I downloaded it, hope it goes smoother this time around.

Today is manly going to involve looking for missing software (all over the garage) and trying to get this computer up to speed. Speaking of speed, this one does not seem any faster than mine on or off line. But, there is a bunch of junk running on this one. With some luck, maybe I can get the old one running again.

   See you all later.

 Good rainy morning.

I'm off to the LHS to give him some cars to sell for me.  I have a Rail Box at his store and he said people are begging to sell it to them.  So hopefully the ones I take will sell.

Sold a couple of auto-racks yesterday from the show but had them listed as free shipping Bang Head.  Luckily they go to MN, and OH.

PC...........I hope it all goes well.

Lee..........I will get your package out this morning.
