Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have the eggs Benedict, side order of Bacon, a glass of Ed's OJ, and lots of dark roast coffee in my FGLK Mug please and Thank You!  I'll go see who is sitting in my "reserved" seat at the rivet counter.......

Looks like everyone has some things to get done today, and I am no exception.  Have to make a quick run to the Credit Union and then go pick up the museum's chain saw.

Currently 36°F outside the door here in the Finger Lakes this morning.  The high will around 42°F.  I may keep feeding the wood stove all day.  First time this Fall to do THAT.  If the liquid sunshine holds off I should stack more wood.

I'm pondering the comments about $8 to $10 per hr.  Fifteen years ago I was paying my help $10/hr. as casual labor (no FICA, or exemptions under $600/yr.).  I figured the kids w**ked their rear ends off setting up and tearing down the sound systems, I ought to give them a decent $ for their effort.  I will say I had my choice of many great kids who wanted to work for me...... (wonder why?)  If they didn't put forth some effort, they didn't get asked to w**k again.  All but 2 of the kids I hired ended up being Eagle Scouts, BTW.  Seems I had a pool of possibilities right within my Boy Scout Troop....  I pretty much knew what They were going to do when they w**ked for me.  "A Scout is Trustworthy...."

Best get a move on!

Later!

Believe it or not Home Depot carries the peanut oil; however, I found the prices at Gordon Food Service (GFS) to be better and they will special order the sunflower oil for you if they don’t have it in stock. Ours has it in tin 1 gallon cans.

Good Afternoon,

Zoe, the sun has set, so I´d like to go for something stronger, mmh - I think I will settle for a Beer, please.

Petra and I went on a "shopping spree" - I need to buy a new office chair, as the old one is coming apart. Check the web pages of our local furniture stores and found one i like. So we drove off to this place and guess what - "I am sorry, we are out of stock" That deserves a Thumbs Down and a big SoapBox

Barry - I hope your upcoming surgery will go well - early Angel for you!

Bob - St. Pauli? Been to Hamburg? And you don´t mean the soccer club, do you?

Jeff - nice job on the rusty steamer, however - a sad sight to see!

I will stay at the RC awhile to watch who else might drop by!

Good Morning, Zoe - I'll have some of Ed's OJ, #2 special (scrambled) with wheat toast and blackberry jam, and a Rio Grande mug of your TH, please. Thanks!

Flip, check your email on that D&RG diesel question (luckily I spotted it - got a ton of pages of posts to catch up with...).

Welcome to the Diner, Cap'n Harley/Bob! Have a beverage of your choice on me. Congrats on getting into the 'fun' that is DCC (I'm in process of that transition myself)

See that some of my fellow MIA Diners have returned. Garry, I may figure how to do that truck lettering... (heh, heh, heh...)Whistling

Will have to catch up some more later today - got someone out front to go see.

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Good morning. It's 45 and cloudy. The high will be 68 and it's supposed to be sunny.

Nothing much going on today. Just have to go to the pharmacy later. Helped dig out the top of a septic tank yesterday so it could be pumped out. And no I didn't do any of the heavy work. I just helped clear away the loose dirt after it had been broken up. That was about the extent of my day. I may be able to get some layout work in today.

Garry- Yes I do usually get my oil at Walmart. I check the Farm Stores first to see if they have the Sunflower oil, but since I put it off so long, I usually end up getting my jug of peanut blend at Walmart. We used to use straight peanut oil many moons ago but the prices went so high after the deep fry Turkey thing took off ( if I recall correctly. If not, sure seemed like it) that we switched to the peanut blend. Truthfully I have found no difference in taste or performance. The Sunflower oil was an easy cleanup. The Soy oil is a breeze. That's especially why we like it for the Church fryers. Eeeeeeasy cleanup. I also use soy oil in our little counter top deep fryer also.

Good morning. Just posted in WPF.

Bob (Harley)... DCC, eh. I'm slowly changing over from standard DC to DCC. Very slowly.

Lee .... I could not take my trains (or anything else at all) with me, and so I joke it must not have been Heaven.

Ken ... If you re to have two levels, you may want to check out Jim Hediger's benchwork constructon for his Ohio Southern.  The bench legs are X-shaped like a picnic table. It is sturdy and allows room in the foreground for tracks, industries, and so on.

Morgan ... Track plan ideas look good.

Todd ... We will also deep fry the turkey this year. We got three gallon-size jugs of peanut oil from bass Pro Shops on line. I think it was about $26.00 per jug with promotional coupon. Also, we bought enough other stuff to get free shipping. I heard WalMart has good prices if you happen to like shopping there.

My scenery project is progressing slowly. There are long waits as the glue dries.

Happy Model Railroading.

Good Morning! (yawn) Sorry I guess I got up and didn’t shut down the browser. Ended up sleeping in here last night. Hope I didn’t keep anybody up. But I, unlike G, slept well. Very well.

I’ll have some coffee and a stack of Buttermilk Pancakes and some of that real Maple syrup we brought back from New York and some bacon strips please.

Well, seeing as how I was just in here (never left actually) not much to say. I'm sure I'll find something.

Hey! Somebody slipped in under and I must have missed him.

Welcome Bob! Oh, Digitrax Zephyr. I’m sure you’ll like it from all I hear.

I have to do some odds and ends today before w**k. (see? I told you) I need to get some oil for the turkey fryer before the good stuff is gone. I like sunflower oil, but it’s hard to find and where it usually is, (Farm and Home) it goes quick. Real quick. I’ve only got to use it twice because I’m to slow at getting the oil. In fact, since time has flown by and it is much later in the month than it should be, I’m betting it’s all gone. Next choice is a peanut blend from LouAnne. I need to find out the smoking point of soy oil. We really like that for our Church fries, but we only bring it to 330 to 350 tops. I need to bring the fryer way higher (chuckle) to compensate for ol that cold bird being dropped in. Plus we do need a few groceries.

$12.50 is pretty darn good for around here too. Usually $8 to $10. Benefits? The check usually cashes. What more do you need?

Smell in the refridge-a-deezer is leaving.Yes

Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!

Welcome aboard Capt. Harley! Robby, I think I might use all these up on practice, LOL. I’m currently weathering some gondola loads I’ve been making, but I bought some cheap damaged rolling stock to practice on.

Make that 2, as I have a job now! It's a temp seasonal (but full time) in a warehouse for Amazon.com. Hardly customer service or what I want to be doing, but 12.50 plus overtime won't be a bad thing either.

That's some good news. There are a lot of people down here who would kill for $12.50 an hour. $10 is considered a good wage here and you have to have qualifications out the wazoo to get that.

Good morning Mr. & Mrs. Model Railroader and all the trains trying to get back on time!

Thank you for the welcome Sir Madog and yes I had a St. Pauli Girl yesterday.  I'm not  much of one

for introductions so I thought I would just kind'a slip in and see what happens.

I finally got a DCC set (Digitrax Zephyr-Extra) and if I've got time today I'll try it out on my FMRR

(floor mount railroad) with my new Bachmann HO 3-Trk Climax.  Y'all have a good & safe one!

Good Morning,

I taught a Navigation Class last night and all the students want to come back for another session; I guess I did good…

Robby, I got the box last night, thanks!

Garry, um well ah; I’ll get back to you on that one, LOL.  Brief afterlife experience, so tell me do they have train layouts that never derail and tracks that never gets dirty?

Barry good luck, I’m sure they do the procedure everyday and it will be a walk in the park.

(Yes, there is something waiting for us when our bodies die.)  I am working on scenery on my layout.

YES!!!! I KNEW it! (does the happy dance to the both and collapses breathing heavily)

Pig killed himself. Committed soo-ee side.

Hot Chocolate please. Thanks

Cold out, frost on the roof of the truck when I left w**k.

J.R. - OH don’t I know about being a mechanic. EVERYone wants you to stop by and take a look at their car that won’t start. I used to just open the hood and say, turn it over. Then, I say, yup won’t start. When asked what is wrong, I respond. Something ain’t working. Otherwise it’d start. When they ask what it is that’s not working, I say, could be a number of things. But more than likely something on this car. Probably between the bumpers. Do you ever get the requests to repair their car in their driveway? Ten miles from your toolbox. So you can drive halfway across the county after loading your truck with every conceivable tool you might need (leaving of course the one you do back at the shop) so you can crawl around in their gravel because they don’t want to pay to tow it? You spend twice as long, sometimes three times as long and a trip back, in the COLD for a thanks because you weren’t out anything. After all they did buy the part. Usually a part so cheap you actually begin making up the story in your mind of what you will be doing when they call again to have the same thing done. Again. Of course it will have a lifetime warranty so they won’t be out anything at all except the time it takes for YOU to drive them to the auto parts store because they have no way there. Again. Then, THEN, if for some reason you are unable to make the repair there, or you don’t have the expensive tool required, they look at you and say “what am I suppose to do know?” like it’s my fault. I say, “Pay a mechanic. That usually works best”. Then they get mad like I stranded them.

WOW! Sorry guys. Didn’t mean to get so loud. J.R. just hit a nerve I guess.

Ken- Um, not about Tiff is it? I like the plan. Looks like plenty of things to keep interest and places for towns. What about industries, team tracks sidings etc. Don’t forget about those.

PC- Glad the boy’s doing well. Sorry I can’t remember his name, I keep wanting to call himBen, but I know that’s Ryan’s boy.

Well, the dog is snoring, so it’s bed time for Bonzo. How do they surive in the wild with that kind of ruckus going on.

Ray - We have reserved seats for a reason. It'll all come to you when you show up and find it out front or receeding in the distance as we do a move.  Speaking of moves, it's in the 40's right now though tomorrow it's supposed to be in the 60's where the diners at now. Where to next month? Something a bit more balmy perhaps?

Rather than a balmy local, Perhaps the diner will visit another northern climate so as to offer a "white Christmas" setting for Santa's train to roll on by and to use the rotary snow plow parked out back!

Boring day I did not sleep at all last night, maybe high strung nerves after other halfs ordeal with the anestesia yesterday, so I tried all day today to catch up. Didn;t work

TOmorrow I have the CPR {center for Pain Relief} for my back. I am not in as much constant pain as I used to be so maybe the cortisone injections are working after all. We will see. Dunno if the surgery ahd somehting to do with lesser pain. THE PROBLEM IS, though I have little/no pain when layoing down or not doing anything. If I sit for an hour or more, or stand for a half hour or more or DO something, I have pain-greater with the more activity I am doing. So I am not in the constant pain I was in, but still ahve great pain doing anything other than lying down ro sitting for less than an hour.

Hoping to get some work on t he train room done so I can GET to the layout.

Waiting fo the people who want to by the monstrosity that is the smowblower to come get it out of the storage shed, so some stuff from the train room can go there and I have more room in teh train room.

We have too much junk and shtuff in there. And I want to expand the layout by half a foot on one side and about 1/4 foot on the other, so i NEED MORE ROOM! ARgh!

Well, CONGRATS! SOme money for SOme tiem of work is better than no money for no work!! Maybe it can work into full time after the season?

Well, place your trays in the upright position, have a pleasant evening, and thank you for flying galaxy airlines....

 Evening folks.

Flo, I am fine with water.

Down in the dump's badly. Excepting real bad news Friday. Not health that is about the only thing I have going for me right now.

Still have not got the R Mail sorted out so I can not share the RTS file yet. Anyway here is the latest raw doodle. The part that sort of looks like male genital is just to see if I got the radius right. Seems to fit as far as the turnouts. Latter it will be bent (ouch) to the left for a possible yard.

You will all so see what looks like a spur from the second main line to the 1st trunk line. Main at that point is 4 inch and goes down a 1.99% grade.

See you all in the Mourning.

Thank you Ken, I'll never look at the Avon NYC/PRR interchange ever agin. Thank you very much for that fascinationg comparison...

Curious as to that the switchback will be. Grain perhaps? Helix makes good job of connecting upper to lower as well, I hadn't thought to ask if you wanted to avoid them or not. Make sure to check ckearences between the two curves in the lower left corner. There's not really enoouch room for trains to pass between upper-outside and lower-inside curve tracks, but the upper-upper and lower-lower clearence looks good.

Hey all!  What up?

Ken, that plan is coming along nicely.

Well, the boy is doing real good.  After a lot of nausea to start, we seem to have that under control now.  Other then that, he's playing video games today, so I KNOW he's better!

Barry ... I'm happy to learn you will finally be having your device implanted. I've been concerned about you ever since you first mentioned you were getting one. ... The surgery is really not too much of an ordeal, and I'm sure you will do fine. I am on my third device and each required a similar procedure. Also, I had to have a defective lead replaced for another surgery. ... Regarding the shock, I had six of them when I had my rhythm problem in 2008. I only felt the sixth shock. The others were when the heart had completely stopped and I had no feelings at all for them. ... Two of those were when I was "dead" and I had brief after life experiences. (Yes, there is something waiting for us when our bodies die.)  ... I'm doing fine now, and I get to bother the diners here.

Ray ... I like your stone crusher structure.

Hope the proceedure goes well Barry.

Lee - you should just be glad you're not a mechanic as well. You'd probably have to quit your job so you could find enough time to help everyoneConfused . Todd can fill you in on the scheduling thing I'm sure.

Afternoon folks,

Flo, just a Dr. Pepper for me....

Barry I know you will be glad to get this ordeal over with.  Hopefully it will give you a better and longer life!  I'll keep you in my prayers!

I found out THAT it was Todd sitting in my chair this morning!  Before THAT, I didn't even know I had a "reserved" one.  Well (deep subject), you learn something new every day!

The Lakeshores Division, NFR, NMRA has a new Blog.  Now I can really bug the membership!  http://www.lsdnmra.blogspot.com/

Currently 39°F under dark, damp, and gray skies.  Just lit the wood stove so I can stay warm.

Later!

Ray:  Thanks for the well wishes! I got the news that it will be done in 2-4 weeks hence--I just gotta wait for the exact date nowWhistling I signed the consent orms to do the procedure--they told me about all the issues that could develop--including the possibility of 'shocks'--as if I didn't already have acquaintance with THAT issue---ahem --- coff coffBlindfold Anyways, I'll be letting everyone know as to when this thing will occur.

As to 'Who has been sitting in my chair--" -- I had one place that I -- ern--until recently went to( since I've been kicked out of it) had a certain person who actually--I found out later I might add--actually 'owned' a chair in this fine establishment... Of course no one ever said that this person 'owned' it--so when she confronted me about sitting in HER chair I asked if she had a deed to said chair---boy did that set her offWhistling BTW--the banning occured over their not having 'real' coffee...Whistling

Welb, I better get off to the trainroom---have fun peoples!

Any argument carried far enough will end up in Semantics--Hartz's law of rhetoric Emerald. Leemer and Southern The route of the Sceptre Express Barry

I just started my blog site...more stuff to come...

Todd, true, true.

I do help people out a bunch, and I volunteer with 3 different groups, but there are those that just expect me to help out, but they are never available to help me out.  I guess what got me is the guy that took a day off from work so I could come over to work on his house before he asked me, what if I was busy that day?  Was he going to sit at home and stare at his plumbing project?  Another friend’s furnace isn’t working, I told him 3 times, on 3 different days that I don’t touch gas appliances.  I just got a text message that he needs me to get to the furnace before the next cold front comes through.  Grrrrrrrr!

So far for next week I’ve been asked to do something after work on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
