Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have a short stack of buttermilk pancakes w/ real maple syrup and a cup of dark raost coffee in a FGLK mug, please and thank you!

Just got home from the Middle School/High School Auditorium.  I had the pleasure of walking the new sound man through the workings of the sound system....  The High School Vocal teacher somehow got one of the best sound men in the country to do sound for her....  I don't know if any of you have ever heard of Moondog Sound?  The owner is a local Geneva guy, but has crews working all over the East coast.  He did one of the stages at the Woodstock Reunion a few years ago.  Definitely fun to spend an hour or so chatting with a real master of the business.

"Someone has been sitting in MY chair....!"  Hmmmmm?

Galaxy, hope your wife is feeling better as I write this!

Barry, good luck with all the heart related stuff

PC, hope your son is recovering well and not in any pain!

My prayers for all of you!

I think I will spend most of the day in the train rooms....... Thumbs Up

Later!

Good Afternoon,

Zoe, please dear, coffee in an IV bag.

Today was my "first" day as a consultant. I was helping my two future colleges with the forms to apply for the government grant. Ah, well, red tape .... No, Zoe, no need to get the soap box out!

Galaxy - I have a little pass with a chip, where all this info is registered on - quite handy in case of an emergency. Saved my life once. Glad to hear that the missus is doing fine. Not so glad hearing about your continuing back pain. Petra´s improved (so she has to do the household chores, heh, heh). Angel for your MIL!

Morgan - I will send you a PM with my private e Mail address, so you can send me your RTS file to work on the "untangling" bit.

Captain Harley - good to Welcome a new face in here - have a Beer on me!

I am still fighting to get my avatar back up to the forum - so far not successfully.

Good morning all

WEll, other half had a medical proceedure. Never had anestesia before and reacts badly to it. remembers everything before being given it in the operating room and nothing till waking up after 4.5 hours of sleep at home after they finally let us go. Two sips of coffee was enough to make vomiting happen, so no more to eat/drink though poor thing was starving. Might as well been drunk. ADded "reacts to anestesia" to medical history sheet.

Speaking of Medical history sheets for those who have several problems and/or meds like me should have one. It can be done two colum no spacing {except when enter was hit} one sided sheet in MS Office MS Word.. {unless you have a real long history and requires the back of the page to cary some information}

It should look something like this;

Name address with phone                                                                   Attending doctors

Primary care Physician with address and phone

preferred hospital and address                                                           PRescription  meds

Emergency contact/health care proxy person and phone

Medical conditions list                                                                           OTC meds

Past Surgeries list                                                                                   ALLERGIES

Bold the titles and the emergency contact/health care proxy. Hopefully the emergency contact person and the helath care proxy person are one and the same and your spouse or GF/BF for those who have them.   You can request a wallet sized health care proxy at teh hospital to carry in your wallet. Good idea to make a phot copy of spouses/significant other/GF/BF or whatever so if they are incapacitated you have a copy to present allowing you to make medical decisions for them based on whoat you know their wishes are/would be.   Post one lsit  on your refrigerator so Emts can find it in emergencies and cary one in your wallet. If you are in an accident and they look in your wallet for ID and info, that sheet will be golden at the hospital if you cannot talk or remember everything. If you are going to the DR, print one off and date it so they have it to add to their records.    I got the idea from the emts who came to pick me up ambualnce when I had severe pneumonia two years ago. They have a magnetic pouch for the refrigerator with "File FOr Life" written on it, you keep a copythere inthe pouch, OR just tape to refer door.  And I have a long history fo stuff. Other half is developing a list also, and I can't remember all my 23 prescriptions, let alone trying to remember two med lists.

Ok so more thoughts go out to PC's son for speedy recovery and no more follow up surgeries! Angel

SPecial thoughts and prayers continued for my MIL who is in frail health, please!

Train nut freind's wife is doing ok and is back attending night school, though off from work for 4-6 weeks. Train nut friend has severe back problems and has an electric implant in his body to activate electrodes at crucial areas that cause pain, It doens't really work well for him. He just got approval for SSD.

My back problems are mediocre. I have antoehr appt at the center for pain relief {CPR} on Friday where we are supposed to ahve consult. I don;t havethe constant pain anymore, but if I do somehting that isn't laying down I start in pain getting to serious pain. Sitting for an hour will do it, standing and walking will do it and cooking dinner every night about cripples me. So does doinghte laundry adn running the vaccuum. anything that isn;t resting laying down causes me pain. I take the oxycontin on top of the CPR's cortisone injections, and vicodin. none of which seem to work well if I am not lying down or sitting for less than an hour.

Also tossed in there which teh CPR doesn't know yet is the benign tumor removal from my back. I see the Surgeon in Early Jan to schedule another proceedure for the other side of my back as the MRI show both rihgt and left side with the same anomally. Looks like he took out the smaller of the two. I do not yet know as it heals if that will help lessen back pain or not as the surgeon said ti was wrapped around a few nerves and could have contributed to my back pain.

WEll, enough of that.

I got an email form Customer service at Kalmbach informng me my CC was actually charged less the shipping charge. That whole thing should not have happend with a free shipping offer. I posted the thread to alert others about it, not to lambast Kalmbach. according to an email I got the mags are on their way here, less the shipping charges. Big Smile HAd Kalbach thought it was more tahn an alert they could have deleted it. and Crandell locked it for which I thanked him as was going to ask him to do anyway if it didn't die out on its own. amazing how many people looked at the thread though!

WEll.I have some chores to do. Other half is half day at work today, but going to Inlaws to drop off stuff and visit with ailing MIL. If she knows waht is going on.

WEll I have written a  novelette. I hope everyone takes my Health History report to heart and promptly creats one for every memberof the family. Even kids who routinely take OTC meds should have  a listing with parent/guardian as emergency contact/health care proxy, prefered hospital {can make a difference in trying to track them down in case of emergency}, and have their name and address as "ID" in case they get hurt when you are not around.

Have a great day

 Morning AZ

Flow, bowl of Frosted Flake's and Chocolate Milk please. I hope I feel Great today!

JR Got to love the Plasma Sprayer, they where coming out as I was leaving the Auto Body Business. Buddy of mine that did nothing but Old Mopar had one on order. By the way I checked out your web site, nice shop!

Photo Bucket After playing with it for about a half hour I finally found some instructions. Must have used the same we company as our web site, guess they get paid by the click of the mouse. All so not keen on how the photos get posted on the site here. Either the picture is full sizes and there is no Yellow Bar under it to expand the picture. (I did some testing in the test section of the site) or you make it a thumbnail and when it is clicked on takes you to the poster Photo Bucket Site.

While I was digging through stuff I found this picture of my Charger being used in a St Louis Gateway Race Track Commercial. Funny part besides I hated the Duke's Of Hazard is there no Engine in the car! Laugh  I had pulled the engine so I could paint the compartment on a Saturday, they called Monday and wanted the car Tuesday for the commercial. So I backed off the Torsion Bar's all the way and chained a 10 HP electric motor to the K Member. Car does look like it has a motor.

Hum, yellow bar showed up this time.

 See you all latter Today.

Good Morning! 2 eggs over easy, bacon, hash browns, biscuit and butter and grape jelly please. And a huuuuge mug of Dark Roast. Could I get that here at Ray’s stool? Thanks. Most comfortable stool in the place. Besides, he won’t remember it‘s his for awhile anyway.

High today of 45 getting down to about 30 tonight. Cold is a comin.

Lee- (sung doing a darn good Eddy Arnold impersonation) “Welcome to my world…”

I saw the tailgate of a truck once that had the following painted on it. “Yes it’s my truck and no you can’t borrow it.” This of course helps with the brazen who ask to borrow your $50,000 truck like it’s a $20 shovel, but does not much for those who want you to drive, load and unload said truck. And, isn’t it a-mmaaaazing, how they feel your truck should not use fuel when used for them? Why else would they look shocked, surprised and somewhat upset when you mention a touch of the ole U.S. green for gas used. (Diesel in your case). By the way, have you had the pleasure of receiving assistance in planning your day or week for you, when you say you don’t have time, so as to accommodate them yet? That’s always helpful. Especially when they point out what’s not that important for you to do. I always look forward to the “why? What do you have going on?” response to my “Sorry, don’t have time”. I always helps to have someone decide for me what I really need to do and what I can put off til later.

Well, back to mom’s house. Had a wee bit of a set back. Termites. Bug dude’s coming out today to erase their existence, not however, without leaving their mark. The wall needs to be replaced. Luckily not all the wall, but about 3 studs on the kitchen wall and the door wall to the garage that T’s off the kitchen wall. Came up on the inside of the edge joist which, un noticed by anyone, is actually covered by what from the basement appears to be the inside of the edge joist but in reality is the last joist. It sets on the inside edge of the foundation wall and the edge joist sets on the outside with about a 4 inch space between the two. They, nor I, could see their tunnels as they didn't come up on any exposed side. Until I went to remove the door trim to fix the plaster crack and noticed the door frame move . They chewed the base plate and part of the stud they came up to, over to the door of the connecting wall, had a party on that, and had only got to one stud of the kitchen wall, (the wall they arrived at) on each side of the hall wall. Luckily it doesn’t appear they got any farther. That’ll be about a week setback. I know. No it should not take a week to replace three studs and about 4 feet of base plate, and build a 40 inch wall with door opening and drywall. Buuuuut. What with work and taking care of Mom, the time I actually have to spend is not as much as you’d think. Or I’d like.

Gotta go. Bug dude will be there about 9 ish.

Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!

Good Morning All,

44F and partly sunny (the optomist in me says).  I'll have a regular and a blueberrry donut to go please. Trying to get a handle on the job load in the shop as we're actually getting some jobs done enough to go. It probably seems to you all that we move at an incredibly slow pace, but an issue often is there are no parts on earth fpor some of this stuf. Tke for instance the Theodore F-1 car we have in. It was one of two ever and the owner has them both but the suspension is different on to the other. Now a couple of years ago, he bopped the curbing at Watkins Glen and banged up the left rear suspension which we fixed. Now the cumulative effect of all these years of use (it's an '81) has made the bearing lands in the rear suspension out of round and no replacement upright exists. After searching, we found a company to plasma spray the upright where the bearings fit, but we had to machine them out oversize first so there would be enough spray left to not flake off when we machine to size. So a one day in and out job ends up taking a month between searching and fiixing. At least it isn't dull.

Speaking of w..k, best to get to it.   CUL, J.R.

Good Morning,

Nice crusher Ray.

I need to stop being so darn helpful, been helping out others all month, time for some me time next week I think. Every night after work I’ve been running here and there.  I’m already getting requests from people for next week: can you help me haul this, can you help replace a toilet, can you help me fix my furnace, can you look at this locomotive for me, I need help cleaning out the roof gutters.  I had one friend tell me he took Tuesday off from work so he and I can repair his roof… Nice you got the day off work then asked me what I was doing?  I think that should have been the other way around don’t you?

Derjohn, looks like your going to get wet up there!

Just a decaf for me tonight.  Went to a Boy Scout District Committee meeting earlier tonight.  We had a "Pie Night"  I figured we were to be deluged with "Pie Charts...."  Nope, real pie.... Ice cream too!

Good rainy evening: I'll have the Lemon smoked mackerel with mushy peas and whole wheat bread please, and a large JR Regular.

Jeff:

Woke up about 11 pm  to the sound of heavy rain pounding on the roof. That's a good sound to hear. It's been so dry here that I think some of the local Indians might have resorted to doing rain dances.
...We have the  department of Highways grader crew to do that , works like a charm!    Great words of encouragement for  TSF, or so Google Translate tells me! Laugh and TSF, that translator is Fast!

Garry:

Have you heard from Fergie or Luc? If you do contact them, let them know we miss them.
Haven't heard from either  in ages. I lost Luc's email in the great hard drive wipe last summer, and Fergie doesn't  reply to his.Huh?

Paul: Good to see you back in again!Thumbs Up

RobbyP:

Barry......I've done some N-scale and I take Paypal.  If you have any questions, just PM me.
...Noted! Good to know.  So if cars were sent to you, you'd do the dirty?Smile, Wink & Grin

Todd:

Odd about Keith though. He was a very frequent poster. Then poof! Gone. I sure hope nothing happened.
...I sent him a follow-up on a PM we had going - nothing, nada, ....Alien it's  not like him.

Ulrich:

Ken, Morgan - I am awed by that plan. I never would be able to come up with something like it. I like the left part with the yard a lot, maybe the right bit could use a little bit of "untangling". Ha, I have learned a lesson - my thinking is to simple to design such a big layout. All I can come up with is somehow arranged along the walls, and maybe a peninsula in the middle - not enough to accommodate all your druthers, Ken. I am not creative enough ...
....How do you eat an elephant Ulrich?  What I'm getting at is that your layout ideas are plenty creative, and could be applied to each "bight" of Ken and Morgan's plan.  (Much the same way Morgan analyzed the placing of those access areas, and what PC intends for restarting his present layout.) My 2 Cents  Those turnouts will ease the strain, yes? €62.66 saved - not bad!
Jeff - I forgot to mention it, on German e-Bay you now and then find slices of the Berlin wall up for sale.
...for some not-too-clear reason there are three of those standing grimly  in a mini-park on Truro's main street.  I wonder what they fetch on eBay...Mischief

JR:

and that was making the old Rapido couplers unhook as they gave and took slack so we fixed that with a dab of silicone over the couplers (not a problem when you don't need to switch stuff out.
...Thanks, might help a passenger consist I have that is flaky that way. (My VIA set by ConCor (IIRC))

Lee:

Ray, I will be sharing some 49 to 55 mph winds with you today.....
We're getting that glob of weather today and tomorrow. See http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y51/der5997/stormpulseNov17.jpg  Hope your layout tour is really enjoyable. Must be great to have such a wealth of talent close by.

PC: good to see you on the drip again - just like old times!   Trusting your boy is recovering well now.Angel

Ken:

Did they change Photo Bucket or is it this computer?
...I think the changed it, yet again!( Reading on, I see that is indeed the case)  Not for the better by the look of things when I went to upload that cloud map thing just this evening.  I'm with Dr. Sheldon Cooper of Big Bang Theory..."They say change is good, but it isn't!"  The only improvement I can see after taking Ray's tour is that you can now hit View All without having to scroll down to the end of the first page. For this relief, much thanks!

Galaxy:

Ok, no foul language on this forum!
..Oh Cluck!

Once more time for bed with no mmr accomplished - unless you count the arrival in today's mail of a sill unit for my Atlas GP7 (9?)  Atlas backordered these years ago (I've been waiting perhaps 4 years.  Finally found a supplier on the Bay (sooo much stuff) and it only took about 13 attempts to get him to answer his email.  So now I can get the couplers back on that loco, and get it onto the layout again. Yeah

Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of Healing, Comfort, Prosperity and Peace.Angel

Okay, so something somewhere has been improved. Does this mean I should worry about posting Ken's new plan?

Ken: I'm going to try to post up the upper and lower layouts separately. That will also show what places could easily be opened up, or not so. Also, the convergence crossover I checked will need longer approaches for grade, by a lot, or we can just kill that altogether and see if we can't connect the two layers someplace else. The two connecting tracks aren't a part of your circuits, but I think they'd look nice while you are running the trains up to the other lines.

How good are you with building dutch doors, that layout can be built on and open up, but still be solid? I hate liftouts too.

Both just lost their grandfathers today, not that far apart from each other either timewise. Basically Jeff is saying that German isn't that hard to learn when you get down to it.It all depends on were you study.

Thanks for the translation.

I know a little bit of German, but it asks (at least for you two) the obvious.

Teen Steam Fan: Sie können Deutsch lernen schnell, wenn Sie das Studium beginnen. Früher habe ich es ganz gut sprechen, aber es hat zu viele Jahre gewesen.

Believe me, it's not as hard as it looks.

Translation, please?

You can learn German quickly when you begin your studies. I used to speak it very well, but it has been too many years.

ya don't say Jeff, I don't know much, but wonderful invention Google is. My grandpa took Deutsch all 4 years in high school. That's not an option for me. All they offer now is French and Spanish.

That all depends on where you study. I was in Germany at the time. Knew some French and absolutely hated Spanish. Italian wasn't too bad.
