Garry, I was the helper, my dad was the builder, but thanks man! Awesome truck trailer, I think I'll need to make one in N scale.

Robby, nice luck man. Hope it stays with you at the show!

well, not much going on today. The Packers have a bye week. I'll probably watch NASCAR and do my spanish vocab WB pages.
In other news, Rugby starts TUESDAY!

Good afternoon. It's 54 and cloudy. The high will be 61 and mostly cloudy. There's a 50% chance of rain this evening and it's looking like an 80% tomorrow morning.

Nothing much happening today. Might work on the layout some later depending on how my back feels. There's still a lot to do.

Good Evening,

a slow day so far. Petra has developed some back pain, so today´s household duties were on me.

Flo, I´ll have a Beer and get the guys whatever they´d like to have!

Lee- should the funding of the venue be granted, I will be the Finance Director of a public TV station. It is an interesting business, completely new to me, so I will use the time until I can start by trying to learn more about it. As I said before, it is not a job to get rich, but it will pay our humble living.

I should be happy, but somehow I am not - and I don´t know why. Maybe it is because it puts in some more miles in between me and my dream of living in a log cabin, somewhere in the US or Canada. Maybe I can´t figure being stuck in this country for the rest of my life.

Well, I´ll be out for the day - see you all tomorrow!

Good Morning! Coffee please. Yup Dark Roast thank you. Should be in Church, but I’ve got a few things to get done here this morn then off to Mom’s house then in to see her and diner in town somewhere. Brenda usually chooses as I always say I don’t care.

Sounds like our weather here is about the same as Lee’s. I hope she makes a few more too, but back out of the shop next time. Safer. (chuckle)

Ken- Changed my mind. I’m not keen on the four track curve at the bottom. Wait. There may be an elevation issue. Are two at a different elevation than the other two? I so, I may like that part again. The rest I still like. I had too many issues with RTS when I was transferring track plan and update ideas to the program as well. I couldn’t get the thing to do what I wanted and, like you said, it was very time consuming for me to do. It would not accept things I was looking at in real life so I decided this won’t show me anything that won’t work any more than a piece of paper and the track on the ground so to speak. Besides, I had an empire to build and this planning thing was…….holdin’ me back!

PC- Tell her congrats on the 100 lbs and good luck on the 50. Lose the barbell in the ear too. HEY! Just kidding, just kidding. Like I said I’m not big on piercing. But, I don’t like Picasso either. I think it looks like a second grader got hold of a paintset. HOWEVER I do not feel they should be pulled down so others can’t enjoy his work. Just don’t expect me to brag on the thing. Same with piercings. I must admit when they click the tongue stud ball on their teeth, THAT kinda annoys me.

Garry- No, unfortunately any type of take home container is frowned upon heavily. Unless you are my Mother. She wraps a leftover piece of meat or potato in a napkin and shoves it in her purse claiming it's ok because they would just have to throw it away anyway. My question is, if it's ok, then why does she want me to carry her purse out all the time?

Robby- Seee? You made money getting change. No need to take a bath on the cars just to sell them. You do not ask tooo much for your work, but you gotta make something.

By the way Ken- Check out my…Confused…whatever that is called at the bottom of the posts. You see, I will always have a long and happy marriage as long as I abide by the rules. It’s great to be the Master an ruler of my home. Plenty of perks.

Welp, best get a move on the wife wants me to get to work and the dog wants my chair so….

Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!

Morning all

Thanks to those who are putting the MIL on the prayer list. She goes thorugh periods like this and she says she doesn't know if it is her age {83} or if she is really getting sick. But each period sets her back a little further downhill I think. Except for medical appts she HAS to go to, she hasn't been out of the house for about the last 3 years.

Robby- Nice display. Those cars are so DIRTY. I wouldn't run them on my pike.

Yeah ROBBY-doesn't your railroad believe in WASHING their rolling stock?  Smile, Wink & Grin Good luck hope you sell out today! You have to remember many people A} don't like weathering, B} want to do their own weathering or C} have their own rolling stock they would like weathered, nto necessarily what you have for sale. At leas t  you have the powders to help keep you afloat. YOU gambler you! Well. "Hi my name is robby...and I am a gambler..."   -see the weekend wasn't a total loss...you gained some money after all!!!   Maybe next show you do if you do one you can have seminars on weathering and charge a modest fee for the experience? you know- "bring a car and I'll show you how to weather it" type of thing...

WEll gas up the Kia today and waiting for someone to come claim the old snow blower. Selling it for $50.00 as it hasn't run in over 10 years so it needs oil changed, gas changed out, lubed every moving part etc. It is a 36" path dual stage electric start self propelled monstrosity taht takes up most of the storage shed {10x12}. We will be glad to get it out of there. the guy who is buying it is handy and thats his "business" and can service it and use it if he wants or sell it he could probably get $300 for it easily if in working order.

must do sheets laundry also. cat yuked on the bed last night. TIme for the mattress warmer to go back on and the fuzzy fleece sheets to go on anyway.

WEll, sounds like I am in for an exciting day doesn't it? WANna share my day with me?

Gary- Deb had hip replacements in '72. Bad blood in one of the 17 pints she needed harmed her liver. The meds she takes affect her stomach and cause itching, and to stop the itching another pill puts her to sleep. Its a catch 22. Not a candidate for a replacement as is allergic to the meds would be needed not to reject new liver.

Robby- Nice display. Those cars are so DIRTY. I wouldn't run them on my pike.

Like the semi. We need GOD in our lives.

Prayers and Blessings for all.  Oh,Oh, snow storm in midwest. Hope ya'll stay warm and no loss of 'lectricity.

p.s.-Krump- Did you use the decals I sent you???

 Mourning AZ

Flo, I would like a BLT and a Diet Dew.

Did not sleep great last night, was sick to my stomach most of the night and had to sleep sitting up. Guess it is time to start taking med's for acid reflux.

Vincent I was planing to get the prices on shipping the Auto Rack Saturday. With running back and forth to Charter and not being able to get on line to get you zip code just ran out of time.

Der 5997 Far as where the Bridges are by the A/C, I could make it work. But I am still going to look at moving them. One of the problems I have with the current layout is if I have a derailment it is in the hardest places to reach. So if I have a problem it will be by the 5 foot wide section by the A/C.

Gary Far as just doing the turns and main areas of the layout and then draw the rest by hand. I have been toying with that idea. Might be time to stop toying and give it a try. It is time consuming trying to keep everything parallel with the RTS.

Morgan Thanks for pointing out the S turn. I would never lay the track that way. But it would be a pain to fix in the program. It is easier to lay flex track than drawing it. Far as splinting up the main, I am open to that.

Ulrich Next few days I will try drawing something by hand so you can use your RTS skill. Mine is sorely lacking what they should be. Using the RTS is eating up a lot of time.

On the current drawing, what I do like.

1 The two passing spurs that are by the A/C unit. One is 163 inch and the longer one is 181. That should hold a 21 car train with 3 F units.

2 Like where the truck lines go under the main lines of the left. I can see that being a nice mountain area.

3 I rank this part only as OK. Section where the 4 lines make a 180 degree turn. Where the one trunk line has the two turnouts at the bottom, I was tying to fit in the grain elevator in there. I can see quickly it is not going to fit right in that area.

What I do not like? Where the mains turn right, just to wiggly for a section that is free standing. Would look better against a wall.

I all so starting to wounder about the round the room compensate. I currently have a fold dog bone and my mains are longer in less room. My shortest main is 72 feet. As where I left off the longest main is 54 feet, I am guessing another 20 feet or so before they drive the Golden Spike so right around 74 feet. My current long main is 97 feet. I will have to decide if the round the room has more advantages than another folded dog bone.

Well wife wants the computer, so I will she you latere.

Good Morning,

Well our Indian summer is coming to an end this week; temperatures will plummet back to the 32F-50F marks.  The local radio station has been playing Christmas music 24/7 so I’m getting into the spirit of things a little faster this year.

I’m heading out to the N&W train show this morning, figures every time I go to this show it’s cold and raining outside.

Ulrich that’s great news on the job!  I must admit I missed the post that explains what you will be doing; maybe you can toss me a hint?

Robby, sounds like you had a good show so far.  Hey shoot me a PM on how much you’re selling that collection of weathering powders for…. Thanks.

Larry, same problem here the door bell hasn’t worked in 10 years and I can’t hear someone knocking on the door.

Garry, Ja, it’s the good German cornfield and wheat fields.  They are on sale in Walthers for $14 each, and then my Basement LHS gave me an additional $2 off on each.

I think I may have started a fight… I bought a Yellow Box Accurail car from my LHS.  The owner’s wife assembled, weathered, installed a metal wheel set and installed Kadee couplers on the car with the idea that they may sell more of the older kits.  Then she priced it at $8.99.  Yes I bought it and afterwards I felt really guilty about it.  I hope she builds more cars….

Robby P.

 Good early morning.

Its the last day of the show.   I plan on giving out more demonstrations, and hope to sell more.  I ahree with everybody on the prices.   I will work with somebody, but to a point.  EXAMPLE......   If a car is $40, I would probably go $30.   Not on every car, but certain ones.   I will have to wait and see.

We ran out of ones yesterday,  and the only place we had to go for some change.....The local casino!!  Walked in with $20 to play with, and left with $125.    That's not bad for just going to get change.   Now if I had that luck at the show.

I will pop back in later tonight and give a run down.

 Have a good day guys!!

Whistling

Just on my way to bed after a very enjoyable day here with our youngest son.  Thought I would take a quick stroll through the Diner to see who might be burning the mid-night oil too, and catch up on the days postings, after we just finished watching "Invictus", with Morgan Freeman.

I am so very delighted to hear that GREAT news from our  German Buddy, Ulrich. CONGRATULATIONS my friend, this is just the start of many good things to come. You have persevered, remained passionate, and kept the faith. We all knew that you could do it and prayers have been answered.Wink Yeah Wow

Good Morning Folks,

thanks for all your congratulations - it sure had helped, that all of you were pulling for me. Things will improve along the line at this end, and Petra and I are happy to have some kind of a future again. There will be no riches to be made in that business, but at least we will be able to cover our bills on our own, and don´t have to panic, if there are some unexpected expenses hitting us. It also means we can go to see my parents a little more often, which I value the most, as they both won´t be with us much longer. Last, but not really the least, I can start construction of my planned D&RGW Montrose Branch layout, which puts a lot of comfort  on my burdened soul.

Janie, a Sunday Breakfast Special, please, with plenty of coffee, thank you!

Robby - I am sure you will be selling more cars today! I am in line with the others - don´t reduce your prices to sell them off. They more than just worth every cent your asking for them!

PC - my Angel for your son´s upcoming surgery!

Ken - that layout is coming up nicely - I see where you are going now! Talking about your wife driving you nuts, remember this one " A woman´s soul and the contents of her purse will never be disclosed to a man". Men are from Mars, and women are from Venus - do not even attempt to try to understand her. As long as the "magic triangle" of "You", "I" and "We together" is balanced, you won´t run into problems. The secret of a good marriage is to talk about the problems you would not be having, if you weren´t married Whistling It works nicely for us - for over 26 years now.

Have a good Sunday!

GARRY: Present and accounted for sir!

Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooood *yyyyyyyyyyyyyYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAWNNNNNNN!* Evening.

Well (all done dried up and collapsing, I'm sure) this was a busy week, at least from Wednesday onto today (soon to be yesterday) what with State High School Volleyball Tournament action to cover, two Vets Day events, and a new pizza joint to business featureize.

I see the Diner has had a lot of business as usual, and some returnees! Sorry I missed the Vets Day activities here, a belated but most heartfelt "THANK YOU!" to our vets and current personnel!! Personally, I think every day should be "say thank-you to a vet day."

ULRICH: FANDAMNTASTIC!!! A mug of your favorite brew awaits on Rerun's tab...

ROBBY P: Two cars ain't a bad start...I agree, you'll probably get a lot more business tomorrow/today/Sunday... And yup, I'm betting they'll be trying to w**k you down on the price. "Why, you don't REALLLLLLLLLY want to take ALL of these back home now do you???" Like the man said, don't go too low, your w**k stands out, and is worth every penny you are asking.

PC: Welcome back! You mentioned a biker church. I am to set up an interview to do a story on a "cowboy church." Maybe someday somebody will start one for people like me: the non-practicing non-denominationalist. Oh, and I too had to do a double-take about your wife's nice tats...

Well (not to be confused with the septic...), I have to get up early (for a Sunday) in order to drop-off several articles for New Proofreader Dude. Maggie, the Creepy Proofreader Girl is gone...went off to college for a master's degree in museum stuff.

G'night, best wishes to all, special thoughts to those in need.

Chris

Ladies and Gentlemen, we salute our Armed Forces, Police Officers, Firefighters, and EMS...

***EDIT*** Geesh! Go absent a few days and ya gets TOP!!! OK you nighthawks at the Diner, chow down, drink up. Rerun and I will settle with the ladies later in the day...

it doesn't look like I did this properly, but I wanted to add to my last post (forgive me for being a bit Rusty on the forum... I'm catching up slowly, but only going back a week or so.)

Heartland / everyone - things are keeping me busy in BC, a bit short staffed at work so my responsibilities have changed a bit (Social Worker by title, proud RedNeck Farmer by lifestyle, doing all the training I can).  13 yr old daughter was a Referee for a Ringette game this afternoon, and I operated what they call the "shot clock" for the shots on net.  She plays in two ringette games tomorrow afternoon, so back at the arena I go - after church.  We are dog-sitting for a family friend.  My wife has been selling this year's honey production at craft fairs (and truth be told -  I'm selling it outta the trunk of the car ... "psst, hey buddy, wanna buy ... it's going pretty good.)  Still trying to come up with a business name - we want something that will stick in people's minds.  15 yr old daughter is starting her medical career as a  volunteer at the hospital, 11 yr old son just finished his first year of Pee-Wee Football (turns out he was a very effective running back -skinny as a beanpole, but lightning speed).  Still has challenges, as some may recall.  We as a family have been doing what we can to assist the HAITI relief efforts (earthquake in January, Hurricanes, Flooding and illness more recently) and to that end my wife organized a Haiti Auction fund-raiser this past Spring. - note: oldest and youngest children are siblings adopted from Haiti.  Starting to feel a lot like winter - gotta get the snow blade on the quad, and the snow tires on the vehicles.  The bees are pretty much ready for winter, and the chickens are enjoying their new pad - even the two late chicks (Sept) are doing well. Still looking at green grass currently - calling for some of the white stuff tomorrow.

PCarrell - the biker church sounds like my kinda place.  We found a new community church nearby (Mennonite affiliation) and that is working well for us.  I met a fellow who is moving here from Alberta - he will operate a Motorcycle Museum and coffee house nearby - but that will take about 15 months to be up and running.  I recall hanging out with the Christian Bikers in the past, joining them on the Toy Run etc.  I can't ride a motorcycle, but have dreams of being a Triker in a couple of years.  Currently my quad keeps me busy - work and fun.  No tattoos - but have often thought of a "skunk smelling a rose" (armpit location) - they say it would hurt supremely there... maybe a train instead.  Probably won't ever be a priority though.

derJohn - I think that you have a nice thumb YesThumbs Up, and very useful if you ever need a ride.  Your craftsmanship is wonderful - great work.

galaxy - our prayers are with that situation also

cudaken - hang in there, been challenging for you

Jim / Flip /others - good to re-connect with you.

Blessings to all, Happy Sunday !

cheers, krump

it wasn't me, but it could have been ... oh yeah - you live elsewhere Cowboy

Heartland -  I like the trailer - that would be a great piece for a gas bar/ truck stop

Good evening.

PC .. Thanks for the family update. Wow! That's a lot of surgeries. Prayers for your son on Tuesday. You asked about me (Garry not Gerry), and today I'm fine thankfully. We have family members we visit and attend events like weddings in AL, AZ, MI, NC, OH, and TN. They come here, too.  Thanksgiving will be here. Went through Indy a few months ago traveling from Grand Rapids to here.  Will be in AZ early December and maybe Mi late in December I hope you find model railroading time. I think layout construction is better if done in small sections one at a time.

Flip .. Good to see you. I'm not sure what you meant about your wife, but sounds like prayes are needed.

Der John ... That was a funny reponse. You "nailed it."

Jim CG ... The parade was in "Blackhawk" a fictional town on my layout. It is near the far end of the train room behind the steel mill. .. The bakery is one of several buildings for my large city, and it will be the first one installed.

Ray ... Whew!. A relief! No diesels on the SLOW.

Sawyer ... Good to hear you had a "helper" for making the benchwork. I think your "hekper" has many reasons to be proud of his son.

Robby ... Nice display you had at the show.

Todd ... Actually, good food can be found in those all you can eat buffet places you mentioned. I have noted a certain high percent of customers must eat there regularly based on how they chow down the all you can eat food and how much is still on board. Do you bring zip lock bags? Whistling

Glad to see such good attendance today. ... We could use a GA report from Rob; an IA report from Chris, a MA report from Dick, a WA report from Sue  .... and ....... there are more .... It would be good if Inch stopped in too. . PA Tom and Bridge Tom .......

 Any truck modelers out there?

Good evening one and all:

Ulrich:

I got the job!

Bad news is, that I won´t be able to start before March/April next year, as financing (public funding) has to be safeguarded before we can enter into a contractual employment. In the meantime, I will help them on a consultancy basis, which will earn me a little extra cash.

Big relief! Big step forward on the path to a normal life!

WOOT!We knew you would. Consultancy can be great (see CapeJim’s comment) – and as you say, it will yield a bit of financial breathing room. Thank God for Angel
John - this water tank is just great! How can you handle such small parts?
…thanks, mainly by wearing reading glasses from the $Store, and taking time! Not a thing I’m wanting to take, being results oriented and all. I made a cut a number of those rivet strips while talking to a techie from customer support yesterday afternoon. A cog from a defunct clock and ordinary El Cheepo aluminum (or is it aluminium in Germano-English?) Then a steady hand with a steel rule and an X-Acto knife. BTW, this tank isn’t for water but chicken feed – at which point it becomes a silo. Geeked

Ken:

(By Morgan) Also, the bottom curve around the Airconditioner, there's an S curve in there, it heads to the wall a bit, then makes a second turn. it's best I think to put a straight section. The pros reccomend the length of your longest unit, but all you need is proper space for the truck to straighten out, so a 6" straight there will do you wonders I think.
…He Da Man, Ken, that 6’ straight will save a lot of grief. My 2 Cents BTW, there was neat Z Scale layout at the train show today with 4 separate main lines. Not large enough total area to be really interesting, but your principal of just letting them roll was being applied with bells on!
Finally had to break down and call CHARTER wand wade through the Automated BS to get to a live person
…punching “0” can often cut that Auto BS – might be worth a try?My 2 Cents

Larry:

Sadly most folk today has a weak tap tap they call a knock which can't be heard in my hobby den..
We had the same problem, and since bell pushes corrode to uselessness very quickly in our salt air, were without a door bell for a long time. Finally found a wireless rig that I could glob up inside the bell push with silicone caulk to waterproof it. Works fine now, and since the chime is program-able, we’ve got a really long one that gets our attention, and is still playing by the time we get to the door! Music

Garry:

Der John ... Ah ha! .. A chicken feed bin. Either it's very tiny or you have a huge thumb!
..Fee Fie Foe Thumb? Laugh It’s HO scale, so the camera is playing tricks. That thumb is 6 feet across at the nail in HO!Clown

CapeJim:

Anybody every install a decoder in a Trainline GP9m? Hayullp!! May need to do some online searching today, methinks...
…nope, but I have in a N F40PH by Life like – same thing, weight s take up all available interior space. Solution was to remove weights, and carve a space large enough for the decoder, with channels for the wires to run to the motor and lights. Be sure to wash the carved weight well – you don’t need metal filings anywhere near the mechanism – and I’ll save Galaxy the trouble of posting a warning about handling the weights if they are lead or lead bearing. Ken has latex gloves he could lend youMischief

Train show was pretty much a bust as far as vendors, or new layouts – only a nice modular On30 layout in addition to the 4 mained Z one. However, I did pick up 4 NJ International single target signals for $5 each – which I fancy is below list. I can’t find them on their web page – too old I guess. I’ll put up a photo when I’ve got the first one working. I know just where it’s going.

Goodnight all , and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of Healing (including G’s MIL and PC’s son’s surgery on Tuesday),, Comfort, Prosperity and Peace.Angel

Philip- Glad to hear all is well. I was beginning to worry about your absence that some things might not be spo good. Good news about the wifes surgeries and you all are in my prayers. They have a “misfits” Church in Springfield too. In fact our previous Minister is the Pastor there. How is the wife's weightloss situation? I recall she was recording her progress but lost the Youtube link and subsequently, the whole thing. Nice “Tats” by the way (I had to read that twice. You had me a bit off kilter there for a second. (chuckle)) I must admit I’m not too keen on piercings, but, to each their own. How’s your RR coming? Had a chance to do anything? I assume you’ve been pretty busy, but I remember right before you disappeared, you requested we keep bugging you for progress. HA! Thought I’d forgot didn’t you?

Yeah, the wife has lost a bit over a hundred pounds.  She says she wants to do about 50 more, then she's done.  The dimple piercings are the most exteme, but she is thinking of taking those out, so, we'll see.  My RR has sat and gathered dust.  I'm considering dismantling and beginning again on a smaller, more manageable size.  I have tons of stuff, so I wouldn't have to get much.

Hey! What in the Sam Hill is all the ruckus about? I could hear it way down the tracks! OH!! Way to go Ulrich! Fantastic! I too am very happy for you and feel some relief. Sorry it doesn’t stat til March, it could have been an even Merrier Christmas yet. Consultant eh? Well, at least you don’t have to sit and do nothing but watch the pennies fly out the window until you actually start.

Ooo! An Orange Smoothie! Sounds good to me too.

Jerry- I sure am glad to hear your son took you to dinner. Winters coming on and this just may be coming up on the last chance for a while. We have a Ryan’s in Springfield I go to occasionally. I do like their chicken. The dessert bar, on the other hand, usually look like a pack of monkeys was plaing volleyball in it.

Speaking of Boo-fays, sounds like Golden Corral is ponying up on free grub for vets Monday. Just may take them up on the hospitality. Wouldn’t wanna seem ungrateful.

DIESEL ON THE S.L.O.W.?????? Say it ain't so! Oh, whew. Saaaaay, wasn’t there a diesel on the S.L.O.W a while back? Maybe I’m thinking of Tom. Yeah, I think It was him. Didn’t he put a diesel on with the articulates? The SLOW is a wee bit older than diesels. YOu never can tell though.

Galaxy- You bet I’ll include your MIL.

Garry- I know, let’s let Petra pick the menu. She’ll pick some really good stuff. She won’t have to cook, though I think it might be tough to keep her nose out of the kitchen.

Philip- Glad to hear all is well. I was beginning to worry about your absence that some things might not be spo good. Good news about the wifes surgeries and you all are in my prayers. Ken- I’m thinking’ I’m likin’ the plan so far! A LOT!

Robby- Nice display. Glad something's selling. Maaaybe some are waiting until the last day. You know see how much money they have left for “like to haves” after the “need to have” purchases are made or…..get ready to haggle. You know the deal. Don’t go too low, you know you have thE bay to fall back on.

Welp, 20 minutes (EDIT: make that 30)  or so into National Treasure two. I kinda liked the first one so I’m gonna watch the second one. Have a the last of the Rollo’s, maybe some popcorn. Might just hit a Milk Dud or six. There’s an idea. Haven’t had popcorn in a while. I should go to the train room, but I told myself, not until the house is done. I’m such an idiot for telling me that. Should have kept my mind shut.Bang Head

Hi Packer and fellow MRRers. Bit of a disappointing day. Wife's body rebelled and we didNOT go to Ocala . Missed the mrr show and sales. Looking to add more D&RG cookie cars. I have seven so far. Two white ,five silver with different car numbers.

Cape Jim- What 4-axle diesel would you recommend for D&RG?   [or anyone else here]

Ulrich-Great start.

Prayers and blessings for all.

Just a quick stop.  Its been a loooooong day!!!

Well I sold only two cars for now, but the weathering powders are a big hit.   Those are selling pretty good.  Also I am getting a lot of compliments.

I did buy a car and maybe some more tomorrow.  I guess that can be a early birthday gift.

Here's a picture, but its blurry.  Maybe tomorrow I can get a few better ones.

 Ulrich............Congrats in the job!!!!!!!

Hey guys

Lots of the MIAs showed up all at once, was this a coordinated thing? Still no Flip or BridgeTom though.

Those underdrive pulleys I bought from a guy an hour away haven't showed up yet, and he said he shipped them Tuesday. Either somethings up, or the Post Office lost another package

Ulrich, Congrats on the new job!!

Jeff, Uh-oh. That doesn't sound good.

Robby, Hope things went well at the show

Ken, Alright, will do.the same

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Good Afternoon, Flo - I'll have a BLT, and can you make me an orange smoothie with some of Ed's OJ (just because it's been toooo long since I had one)? Great - put it in a Rio Grande mug, please. Thank you!

BRAKIE
I was mildly surprised that the shop was fairly crowded and noticed many was piling up their purchases on the show cases-just like years ago when a trip to the hobby shop on Saturday morning was a ritual.

Hey, Larry, doesn't everybody do that (like you and me)? Thumbs UpSmile, Wink & Grin

Todd, I hear you about Chuck-E-Cheese - when I lived in Poplar Bluff (MO), they had one there (or some place close by), and yeah, the noise level and overpriced thing I would agree with you. (Does that make me a 'Grumpa'? Whistling And thank you in helping me not to feel as badly about MY lack of progress (visible or otherwise...)Thumbs Up

Kyle, your comments about how sometimes painting w**ks better than decals got me thinking (now, THAT's a dangerous thing...Whistling) - anyway, I was thinking that the two thin stripes I want in my (fictionalanced) RR's diesels may be better done with the masking tape route. Hey, I have a full roll and another mostly full one of that fun li'l blue tape, right? Wink Thanks for giving me a kick in the attitudes (mean that)!

Ray (and others who wrote about LHS'es and orders), one thing I learned from my LHS owner in our area was that Walthers (in past year? or so) has upped what dealers have to order at a minimum - I'm thinking he said $150, but not sure if that was retail or Walthers price to the dealer. I've had times where my LHS doesn't have other orders at the time I give him mine, so it sits until he has enough to make his minimum with Walthers. And even when I've tried ordering off Walthers' website, some 'in stock' items are back-ordered on me. Just a few weeks ago, I got a card from Walthers, asking if I wanted to keep the unlettered paired-window heavyweight coach I had ordered six months ago... (I told them yes, I STILL wanted it). I'm sure the fact that a lot of Walther's stuff seems to be coming via the proverbial "slow boat from China" has something to do with some of our/LHS'es ordering problems, too.

KRUMP!! Welcome (back) to the Diner! How've/what've you been doing (MRR and otherwise) since last time? Will keep you and your wife in my prayers (especially with one young'un approaching driving age...Surprise). Good to hear you dodged major damage in the vehicular accident (was the masseuse good-looking? And did you tell the wife?...Smile, Wink & Grin)

And, Galaxy, your speaking of THAT DCC question you had was timed about right for me, as I recently bought a Digitrax decoder that is the (possible) recommended one for my Trainline GP9m. This will be my first decoder install, and after removing the shell, I'm wondering where to put the decoder, with that big ol' weight taking up so much of the interior. Anybody every install a decoder in a Trainline GP9m? Hayullp!!Surprise May need to do some online searching today, methinks...

...Well, after some looking, found one description that mayyyyy help. Except it says the track feeders are both black wires, so I will need to have the powerpack hooked up (and at least part of the layout wired) to figure which wire is which. Sigh THAT project may get moved further down the list.

Ulrich - Congratulations on another interview! Bow Remind yourself of that, next time you get bored at home and start thinking any negative schtuff. Yeah Hope to (as I get through the remainding six or so pages of posts) see that you got a job offer before I get all caught up in here.... I LIKE your Cimmaron and Montrose/D&RGW layout design, too (both of them)! Bow ALL RIGHTEE!!! YOU GOT THE JOB! (Sorry, got a bit enthusiastic for you, friend) If consultancies over there are like in the US, you may earn more from that in a week than once you start. Hey, we can hope - more MRR money! Yeah

Cdog - WELCOME to the Diner, and fill us in on your layout/plans/era modeled, etc. (Mine is set in the 1950's in the Four Corners area of the USA). And have a beverage of your choice on me!

Galaxy - love your "Cars - can't live with them and can't live without them" quote. (Chuckle,...toooo true!)

I see you can still find the Diner, PC! Good to see you again, and the "red X box" man, too! Laugh Good to hear at least part of the family is done with doctoring for (hopefully) a long, long while. Impressive tattoo that your 'wild child' has there (though I think I'll pass on getting one myself)Wink Great to hear about your daughter latching onto a well-paying job (what field's she w**king in?).

And I see Duke woke up from his hibernation...Zzz  Must've been somebody mentioning Berkshires, I guess.Wink

DerJohn, I'd agree with you about MS's grammar checker (not too wild about some spelling checker's suggestions, either...). Like what you're doing with the corrugated 'metal' structure there - reminded me that I have some more Rix ('Butler'-type) bins to assemble (2 of the 3 I'd bought a while back).

Anyone heard from Keith? Seems like he's been missing longer than me (and that's saying something). A lot of the other Diner MIA's have been showing up, I noticed (not that I have much room to talk)Oops

Garry, I look forward to seeing how your bakery turns out (once it's done and you have pics). I was trying to recall where that part of your layout was (where the parade was coming through) - somewhere to the left of where you come in the MRR room doors, but not sure how far down that way. Huh?

As for my MRR progress/stuff, I've been sorta doing smaller projects, here and there, plus trying to de-clutter the apartment. I have about 7 of those 3-ring binders (for webpage and article printouts) for different MRR-related categories (DCC/Wiring/Track, Structures/Signs, Freight & Passenger Cars, Locos, Figures & Vehicles, Scenery & Details, Layout Plans/Benchwork), and last night I re-did and printed the inserts out (needed 2 new category inserts for the binder spines). I also (yesterday) pulled my GP9m out to take a look at how I might fit the decoder in it (still thinking about THAT one)Confused Have played some more with possible ideas for my future/expanded layout design, but not a lot of progress on that. And also (Garry and any 'putt-putt' fans out there...) thinking about the best way to get the fairway 'greens' on the Merten mini-golf course a bit smoother and more even than they were after the first coat.

Thursday afternoon was...a bit of a surprise at w**k. I had an afternoon appointment with one client, and after that, I heard that my co-w**ker had been called to our supervisor's office to meet with her and our clinical director (and THAT is NOT a good sign). Finally, about when I was heading out the door, I saw my co-w**ker leaving too. On the way out, found that he'd been put on admin. leave, pending investigation (he had been close to pneumonia, and was prescribed some inhaler that left him kinda woozy, and apparently there was some complaint about having red-eyes and him swearing (uh, well, yeah he does at times, but not in front of clients). Then it got more interesting that evening - I get called from w**k, and they're wanting me to cover some of the on-call this weekend. (I just covered last Sat. AND Sun., so this was supposed to be my 'off w**k' weekend). Somebody may not have thought about 'How are we going to cover his weekend and evening on-call hours' before deciding to put him on admin. leave. Wonder if admin. would like to take one of his evenings or weekend nights? Whistling Okay, soapbox, I'm done for now. Just hope they don't decide to not bring him back, or THAT will play havoc with the on-call schedule, for sure.Bang Head

So as of 4:30 p.m. my time zone this evening, I am back on-call, like it or not....

I'll be back tomorrow after church and have a glass of wine to celebrate Ulrich's job (can't have it now, obviously).

Adding the new Angel list requests to the list. Add my co-w**ker's situation to your list, please.

Blessings and Prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Ken-

Have you looked into an wireless card from your cell service provider? Due to my constant traveling, I have the one from Verizon. I'm happy with it. It's worked everywhere I've been, the speed is good, and it's reasonably priced I think. I've had internet everywhere from the middle of the Mojave, to high up in the Cascades. Anywhere your phone works, your internet will too. Just a suggestion, and a possible way to ditch Charter (which I've never even heard of) for a better solution.Idea

 Evening AZ

Flo, I take a Beer and I will pay for Ulrich dinner as well.

Today has been a total pain in the caboose, best thing that has happen today to me is Ulrich got the job! Day started out with fighting with the wife a little. She keeps repeating her self on the same subject and it drives me and my daughter nuts! She say's she repeats her self because I don't listen. I don't listen any longer, because she repeats her self over and over and over! Bang Head What do you think, Dr Phil or the Jerry Springer show? Laugh

Still having problems with Charter, there a shock! Internet net speed is still way lower than it should be, far from the 16 gig's I am paying for. Took in my old modem and exchanged it for a new one. But there was no soft ware, hum. I was told i did not need any? OK, but last tech that was at my house told me to make sure I got the drivers if they changed the type of modem? What is a guy to do?

Took the new modem home and installed it, did not work! Bang Head Took it back, and asked for my old modem, BUT NO, could not do that? So she gave me the same type and sat a appointment for Sunday for the better Modem to be installed. Get the new version of the older modem installed, would not work? Bang Head Finally had to break down and call CHARTER wand wade through the Automated BS to get to a live person.

I am wiped out and will answer the postings that where for me Sunday assuming I have internet?

 Quick updated track plan.

Will talk about this coming Sunday.

Well, had the volunteer training. nothing too major, although I did find out that the NS in town serves a clay company where I thought it was a cement plant. oh well.

Today my dad and I also built the benchwork for the new layout (Well, he built, I helped). Took WAYYYYYY longer than I expected though. fortunately I have tomorrow to do my HW, and also tonight
