Taylor, they're scouts, it's a big organization. And nonprofit.

Joe, I've actually kindof enjoyed the play (compare it to reading The Heretic's Daughter and it's a million times better).

Max, I wasn't around the forums when y'all started this, but nice to meet you! Soudns like a great deal with Kato!

This has almost turned into a teen coffee shop like thread. We do post about modeling, but not many of us are working on layouts right now; Tyler and John are the only ones that really come to mind of the regular posters. Me, Joe, and Taylor are planning, but there's only so much planning you can do before it gets to where you're just talking abt possibilities.

Nice to meet you Max. I guess it has turned into somewhat of a coffee shop because I think this has become a small forum for kids of like minds to talk, occasionally not about trains. I will say I have greatly missed your WRS here. Ive been around for about two years, and have enjoyed every moment of it. Members have more than doubled in the past months or so. This thing is growing. And grow, this thing shall.

On another note, I just got my first craftsman kits a few days ago, and I will say, that was the best set of instructions I have ever read! Cudos to JV models. The instructions dont just tell you how to built the kit, they say things like "If you have left over scrap wood, you might want to build an outhouse. Plans for this are included" and "Our favorite form of scenery around these cabins is a dried plant called a so and so that can be easily ground up and is available at craft stores. It even has twigs and leaves that will enhance the realism." I cant wait to get started.

Well you guys probably don't remember me, but I was here when we first started this whole Teen Movement on the forums, back 3-4 years ago, with Holmes, Hicks, Noah and others. I'm 18 and in my first year of college now, and have matured a ton since i started here. No offense, but reading your guys conversations, its makes me reminisce about my earlier years.

I feel exactly the same way... I was also around 3 (I think it was 3) years ago when we started the original TMRP. Unfortunately, I think it's turned into a teen version of the Coffee Shop or whatever they call it now, not a thread about modeling. That's why I rarely post anymore - my social life happens in meatspace. But anywhooo...

Welcome back, Max!

Anyway just a tidbit of news. I was asked by KATO to headline their new run of N scale SD45's. What that means is my photo of the GN #400 Hustle Muscle will the advertising picture on all the pamphlets and inserts they send out. I am not going to disclose the terms of my deal, however one of the things I received was a brand new KATO (duh) SD40, painted for the I&M Rail. Kinda odd, considering I model a shortline, and collect Missabe things. Well my buddy, who is now a Missabe conductor, used to work for the IC&E, and we were talking about this unit one day. It just so happened to be around the time I was working with Kato. My IMRL #210 will soon be the ICE #6102. Both cab doors will be painted for the ICE, and patched. The white paint chips will be a little harder me thinks.

Ughhhhh The Crucible... I absolutely hated that play... Worst book ever, and our teacher was an idiot and spent an entire quarter on it...

Speaking of governors...
I really hope that Governor Christie doesn't screw the state over by killing ARC/THE Tunnel. It is possible that this 30 day suspension of work will cause us to lose our $3 billion in federal funding. This is the largest transportation project in decades, and it has taken YEARS to get this thing off the ground, and 30 days could potentially kill it all. If it's not built, down the road in 20 years, the state will be in absolute RUINS, and it will be nearly impossible to reverse it.

Taylor, yeah man, get me Living Sacrifice or August Burns red pounding on the headphones, no background noise. Only problem is I might start head banging instead of writing.

I think it kind of goes with the territory. Model railroading is working to recreate the world, scouts go out into the world etc. maybe?

No dude, I was a Model Railroader from day 0. I, however, have brought mrring to scouts because I spent 3 months planning the Railroad Merit Badge and a trip to the UPs Roper Yard. It was OSSOM (what we, here at EPGY say instead of awesome).

Dude, writing an ending to the crucible would of been 10x better and I don't even like writing that much! If I have my ipod and put drake, kanye, or lil wayne on i'm good on putting papers out fast.

John, the govenor is overrated, he does not have that much power while the news cant make it seem like your a hero and that your going to save Utah, something the govenor can not do, it will also attract people who don't like the govenor to like you.

I have never been a scout and have never even thought about being one. But have a question, like did boy scouts get you into modeling cuz it seems like alot of teen modelrailroaders are scouts.

Alex, I'd probably much more enjoy writing that ending to the play. Although I've been spitting out papers without a second thought so far this school year. It's, well, weird. I could probably sit down with a few RC colas and knock an alternative ending out in a few hours while having fun though.

Taylor, yeah man.

John, I don't know about that governor thing man. The news would help more.

I tried scouts, stuck with it for like two years. Then gave it up for the sports field. My dad made it to eagle scout though back when he was a teen (you know, when the dash 2 series was where it was at and the U23B was in full on production). I'm just a huge sports guy, whether it's playing them or watching them or finding out all the news etc.

John, Thanks for the offer but the essay is mostly done and ya, I don't know if  I would promise reelection, might come back to haunt youy but who knows.

Alex, Ya very lame, and writing an alternate ending sounds a lot funner(bad english) then an essay. Nice pixs btw! the 2nd one is really good, except for the big ole lumps lol jk, still a good pix though.

Essay on the Crucible? LAME! (Not yet a reporting mark either!) We had to write an alternate ending to the play, which was much more fun.

Anyways, here's some older photos...

Taylor. If the governor joins me, then no one can refuse me. Im going to meet him in a month or so, and thats when I can hand over the letter. I have made his position very low maintenance, requiring only his word, but guaranteeing re-election. Like I said, once he's on my side, people will really take me seriously. One question, and since this is a railroad forum, I will probably get an embarrassing answer which I should have known. lol. Lastly, if you want, I can give you some pointers on what I wrote for the crucible. (Not that my pointers will be any good, lol).

I'm not good at this getting people to donate thing but like when I did relay for life with my friends we held a car wash and made like 300 and it was donation only( usually get more money that way). Also, I can't imagine that like you have to do that to become a higher up person( hope i'm not sounding like a jerk!) Like I could never do that so I give you props. And John if you really want to do the last one, try and get on the news or somthing becasue then people will contact the railroads and tell them they should help. Heck, write a letter to Warren Buffet himself! Jk but that might work. Got to go back to typing my essay on the crucible!

Wow, that's an absoultely MASSIVE project! Hopefully you'll be able to get the RRs to get the donations, but I'll tell you that it's really hard to get people to give. I still have to figure out how I'm going to get a few more hundred dollars...

But good luck anyway!

I have three possibilities.  A) restore a hiking trail, B) Build a baseball park, C) Contact the governor of Utah and tell him I have plans to restore some of the track at Golden Spike NHS to operating condition so that the NPS can run excursions, then contact the 4 Major Railroads of America, and ask them to donate some rail, ties, spikes, laying equipment, and recreated coaches. This is the most likely possibility. Big Smile I have the letter written, and I just need to give it to the Governor. If he's on my side, this project cant fail.

Yeah, the EP threw me off too. But I got it after a few seconds...
I'm going to rehab the stage in the church basement where I used to go to school. I'll be building a wooden platform, a soffit (small wall extending from the ceiling to hide crap that would be too hard to actually fix), and painting the area.
What's yours?

|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

So, today I completely killed my chances of going to that train show. I splurged on an unexpected trip to the LHS. I decided I'd go, mostly to look, and grabbed a few jars of paint. But then on my way to the register, I noticed a Athearn BB GP50 at a really good price, and just couldn't resist. There goes the money I was keeping for the show... Oh well, at least it was worth it!

Oh, and my IMW order came today. The shell is absolutely beautiful, real quality work. Can't wait to get it painted and decaled.

Eagle Project. Its a community service project run by the eagle to be, and if it is deemed good enough, you become an eagle, the highest rank in scouting.

BBC, there is a small button two buttons to the left of the smily faces. It looks like a roll of film with a (+) button. Click it, and a small window will pop up, asking for the direct link to the photo, no HTML, just the link you get when you click the photo to view it. Insert the link, and poof! a picture appeareth!

Joe! You didnt tell us you were a Life scout! Congrats! Whats your EP?

BigBlue, you have to put them in tags.

You have to use the .jpg link, such as this one:

http://img823.imageshack.us/i/img9134.jpg

If done correctly, it should look like this:

Taylor, maybe you should try that link again. It works fine for me. RRPA always seems to be down for some reason, but I know it's fine now.

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

Hopefully, I'll be able to get the foam and second sheet of plywood, and then cut said plywood, on Friday, unless something else pops up between now and then. At least it will be one step closer to layout completion (not to mention the first thing I've done since I started it seven months ago... Whistling)!

Guess what guys? I'm getting a whopping SIX DOLLAR REFUND on my IMW order!!!!! Now it's only costing me $100.45!
The decal sets have their own shipping, and the PL42 shell has it's own shipping, but since it's all one order, it got duplicated, so I'm getting half my shipping costs back! Yayyyyy! That's enough for, well, basically nothing... A jar of paint?

Oh, and I met with the pastor at the church where I'll be doing my Eagle Project, and while we will be working on the 23rd (day of the Mass Transit Modelers show), I think  I can still make it in the afternoon...

Taylor, yeah man. Hey, the way I see it is you distill all the different ideas until one finally sticks in your mind and then you realize that that is what you want to model.

Kyrin, hey man, that's a good idea. after I practice the flextrack I'll give my full trackplan a whirl and make sure it works out.

IVRW

I kinda get what your saying here. Test the track before I make anything permanent, file the cut ends nicely, and play around with the track before I do anything. I am most positive that my father, who left the house fuming today, would not take kindly to me buying more stuff just to play with. For one thing, ME track bends and stays, so its not like it will bend back and I will have to hold it. So are those the basics?

One thing if your checking your plan and what not, try using double sided tape to tempararaly holding track. And I'm glad to know that now that I've ordered some ME code 70 for my 4x8.

This post has come to you from Lewistown Pennsylvania!!!

Taylor, you weren't around the last time I went through the trackplanning process were you? I came up with idk how many plans and freelanced railroads. it was, a very creative process. this time it jsut kind of wound up boiling down tot he amount of space etc I could devote to the railroad. >.<

Sawyer,

I wasn't here for that but makes alot more sense! Ya, when I was thinking of making a new one I made atleast 50 on paper of like rough sketches but ya they never came to anything.
