well, went outside today to snap some pics for my next MRN column. here's a pair of the "throw-aways" ANRR extra #3 makes it's way down the Bush Branch after the yard office received a call from a customer who needed some extra cars. We see GP9 #3 returning with some cars from the same customer on the Bush Branch who needed cars earlier. No sense in not bringing these back; they were finished with them.

Joe, foam looks good and trackplan looks like something fun to run!

cdog565, that school club sounds neat man. I've wondered a few times about trying to start one myself. The main problem I see is there isn't, to my knowledge, a model railroader on the teaching staff so after I graduate how would the club continue on?

In CSRY news, the GP9 is still awaiting a new home.

Hey guys whats up?! Havent had time to really get on here much from school. In english class we had to do a how to speech so i decieded to choose how to run a basic model railroad. For the speech i made a diarama. When my mom was able to get me to the hobby shop so i could get the grass and it was closed. I improvised and got moss from outside and it looks pretty good if i do say so myself.Cool I also asked my school guidence counseler if i can start a model railroading club, i am still awaiting a reply. As for my model railroad i stil havent built a perminant one yet.

Tonight, I attached most of the foam to the layout, only because I ran out of Liquid Nails before the last piece. Here's what it looks like. None of the track is actually in place, it's only there to help visualize the finished product.

The pair of centerbeams are in the yard, and the other one is at the luberyard. The boxcar is at the team track (decided to add that tonight after realizing it would just be dead space). And the hopper and tanker are at the bakery.

Well, my GP9 is for sale. when it sells, I'll have the money for benchwork. When the benchwork is down, well, I'll have to wait for track etc. I'm gonna force myself to be patient and do things RIGHT on this one

Benchwork is completely done, minus foam. I have the foam, but it is not in place because I don't have anything to attach it with. Or if I do, I can't find it.

My mom is down the shore this weekend, so I'll have to call the LHS tomorrow morning. If the Genset came in, then maybe she can pick it up on her way home.

John, interesting. I still love regular old high school though haha. Even though I gotta get up at 7 am (which is late compared to everyone else). Just nice to be able to go somewhere to talk to your friends. Sounds like you had fun being the go-to man.

Joe, ouch man. But since according to you it was time, I see how that softens the blow, to know he's ina  better place.As to your benchwork situation, I'll probably be in the same boat. start-stop-start-stop. Hopefully I'll have enough to at least get the benchwork going soon. Then it'll be foam (will probably just buy it with the benchwork if I have enough), and then wait till my b-day to get the mainline in. I'll probably end up asking for the switches for only the rear passing siding. Then I can get the ones for the mainline for Christmas, as well as maybe on or two others. Then it's save up, switch, save up, switch.

 IVRW:

I managed to solder myself to it

How...

Nevermind, I don't even want to know.

Wise choice. Well, the other day in DFRL (Democracy, Freedom, and Rule of Law), it was announced that the "expert of the day" assignments would begin. In the assignments, one person would read and interpret the texts, and then be the go-to guy for questions. It just so happened that that class, we were talking about a philosopher who compared the American congress to an English railway country. We were also talking about the Plessy court case, which was all about racial equality on railroads. I was lamenting in text chat on how I couldnt be the expert for this class, and then Dr. Scarborough piped up saying why not! And I had a blast talking about the topics, although it took great restraint not to give them a tour of my layout.

Also, today, I hooked up some more wiring and found that there was a huge short going on. I disconnected a few wires, and realized I had reversed the polarities of a track. I plan to remedy the problem... just as soon as I get some more suitcase clips. Oops

Sorry to hear that Joe, and good for you on the benchwork.

Nothing new here aside from a) I have laid more track and b) I managed to solder myself to it. Laugh Ill be more careful next time.

Hey all, sorry I haven't been here

I was busy all day Saturday, and then my Grandpa died yesterday (but it was time, so it's for the better), so it's been crazy around here.

-------------------------------

Sawyer, don't have a chance to watch the video now, but I'll watch it tomorrow.

Kyrin, the scenery looks good, and I love the weathering on the GP38-2, and it looks good for a Bachmann. Yes, I know I already told you that, but I'm telling you again.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In other news, I got all the plywood laid down on the benchwork. I'm waiting for my dad to be here (maybe tomorrow) so we can flip the table over (it's REALLY heavy!), and then I can start laying foam. Then I'll hit another dead end until I can get track.
Took me long enough to get something started, but finally, I've started scenery on the Western Pennsylvania RR.
Now I need to save up some cash to buy an engine for Alex to paint, maybe in the DLN..... Cool
This post has come to you from Lewistown Pennsylvania!!!
John, thanks. for everyone else, here's a link (figured three threads at once was a little overkill)
As to dioramas, they are cheaper to build and can let you both try new techniques and practice on a smaller scale.
My plan for my track is downleads on every rail. I'll still be using rail joiners, but only to keep track in joint.
(In reference to the update video) Sawyer! The Horror! Big Smile Nice video though. What is it with you and dioramas?Smile How many do you have now, 3? Anyway, good job! Looks like things are moving along nicely. Post some pictures of the diorama as you work on it!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, today, I had an awesome time with my dad working on the layout. I found that, against what I thought, my expensive Micro Engineering turnouts dont carry electricity beyond the frog, so I have now ripped up a ton of track and am attaching the feeder wires to the underside of the track the same way that David Popp showed on one of the videos before my subscription ran out. And whats amazing about it: IT WORKS!!!!! Surprise BowWowYeah WOHOO!!!!!! I will attach a feeder to every piece of track on the layout, except one or two so I can flip the switch and remove power from the spur to deactivate the sound system.
In other news, I have lost the cord that connects my camera to my computer... This means that my weekly blog is fast becoming a bimonthly (if not monthly) blog...
I now feel supremely stupid. During class, I accidently bumped the layout and spilled almost an entire bottle of CA Accelerator on the layout. I Hurriedly pushed the cars off the wet track, dried the locomotive, and ran to the bathroom to get some TP.Bang Head (At EPGY, we call this little figure "Headdesk" so *headdesk, headdesk, headdesk*)Crying
On Friday I got the other sheet of plywood and the foam, but have yet to do anything with it. Maybe I can find time to have my dad cut it tomorrrow.
Tyler, that paint scheme looks SWEET on those GP15s! Alex did a great job on them.
I'll hopefully begin painting the CSRY U-boats once my b-day comes (I'm planning on asking for another U23B, the paint, and a testor's decal system (for what I need, which is just "Carolina & Southern" in black letters, it will do fine) as well as the pinstriping tape). I'll probably ask for a pair of F45s for Christmas, and maybe an SD60 or SD35, not sure which. and if the F45s are gone, then it falls to SD60s and SD35s, and if THEY'RE gone, then it may end up being whatever is $60 (then more than likely I'll be running my dream locos, ALCO C628s). Well, those are preliminary plans for right now. Layout work will probably begin,as I've mentioned, next spring.
The trains are still around over here...here's some photos of 'da new powah! (it's all from the same shoot, so a lot of it is repetitive!)
Coming under Shaker Hill Road, Enfield, into West Canaan, NH.
Passing through West Canaan.
And a completely unrelated shot of the crew of LECD boarding in Lebanon Yard.
Well, it ain't trains, but it is what I spent money on. I have new Packers gear! and how does it relate to trains (just thought of this): I'll be running trains in this (and I'll probably still have the hat on when I'm working).
Also made a video showcasing my operations, but the whiteboard didn't really show and it's kindof boring. I'll see about setting up a new one using my trains and some string to represent the trackplan.
