Well well well, I haven't seen a saturday night this quiet in a LONG time!

Flo, may I please have a hot fudge sundae along with a large RBF?  Thank you!

I've had a pretty productive day!  Went shopping with the loving wifey.  We stopped at a "chain" arts and craft place, I picked up some acrylic paints: Aluminum Metallic, White, and Ice Blue (from the "Dazzling Metallic Elegant Finish" line).  I bought these colors to test and see what they do with the lighting I currently have in my kitchen/breakfast area, which will be approximately the same lighting as my layout will have.  If these work out, then I will buy a spectrum of colors from the same companies.  I also bought brushes, and a battery operated fiber optic light set.  I plan on trying to use the fiber optic for lights on the signs, building, and "ground effect" lighting around the Diner!  This should be rather interesting!

Well, it's off to bed I go!  Have a great night my friends!

Sam

May He bless you, guide you, and keep you safe on your journey through life!

LOL- Jeff, if I saw that at a train show, I'd offer $2 only because of the couplers.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind when I think about posting anything else. Right now I'm just experimenting to see what I can and can't do. Seeing something somebody else did isn't good enough. I have to do it for myself.

Evenin'  Kinda sparse in here ain't it.  What, Barry was singing?  That'll clear a place out fast......... Whistling

Sounds like those THAT are here have been experiencing a touch of "Cabin Fever" huh?  Must be something good on the Idiot Box I guess for the rest.

Oh Chris..... "Doot Doo, bah dobah!" Smile,Wink, & Grin

Anyway I'll have a nice cup of decafe and sit and listen to the guys who are here for a spell.  Looks like they are all in the back by the stove so I'll go join them.

I have been w*rking on the flooring and side walls for the workshop attached to the engine house.  Definitely a learning experience.

Prayers for all in need, including all those affected by the Earthquake in Chile and the resulting possibility for damage around the Pacific basin.  Glad they evacuated the areas of Hawaii even though It turned out not necessary.  Better to be safe!

Have a good night!

Good evening folks: Here's today's outhouse

Keith:

A convexed cast?  This is for the layout.. I need and want something like this.  I'm trying to do a 'Lookout Point'  .. with some type of over hanging cliff.  I did it with a bananna~.. lol.    Yeppers.. I laid it down.. taped the mold over and.. painted plaster  on top.. then added some plaster strips for strength.. also it made it very light weight.  Ok....
I played around with folding a WS rubber cast full of plaster for a projecting rock I needed at a tunnel mouth. It turned out well enough to use. It'll be interesting to see how yours emerges!

Jeff:

That's like that stupid idiot from D.C. who suggested repealing the laws of physics.
...wasn't that something! If you haven't seen that one folks, email me and I'll send it.
It was a mis-tint on the mistake rack so it only cost $1 (half pint).
Love those when they turn up outside the door of our hardware store in the Harbour. My "basic green for ground cover was one of those.Thumbs Up It's long used up amd I down to mixing my own now.Thumbs Down  The latest weathering pics seem to have an even better (aka more curtain - streaked effect - if that make sense) than the earlier ones. Acid rain hasn't hit t he MT yet. One day maybe...in the mean time I'm learning a lot from both you and Robby.Bow

Looks like bedtime again. Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers continuing for all in need of Healing, Comfort, Prosperity and Peace.Angel

 Hee hee hee...

RAY: Thanks! I was wondering if anybody was gonna pick up on THAT...Big Smile In Loving Wife's cluster of cubicles...all it takes is one person to do "Mah-na-ma-na" and before long, "Doot do be dobah" is heard...and so it begins!!!

JEFF: For what it's worth, and this is just my half-a-cent worth of 'pinion...you just keep on a-postin' them pics.

Oh whadda day.... edited pics for THAT, finally hammered-out the captions and write-ups. Gotta e-mail THAT part yet tonight, will drop-off the pics tomorrow whilst out and about. Got a wild hair to try Firefox for my web browser. I'm still getting used to it. I axed-out IE 8, discovered I still had IE 7 too! After I got rid of 8, automatic updates kicks-in, wanting to repair/restore IE 8! It finally quit doing THAT...but after I got rid of IE7...now it wants to repair/restore THAT too!

Good Evening Diners or Good Morning if you're east of CST.

I haven't been in for a while and it sure took me a long time to catch up on the posts, even just skimming them.

Todd, I really hope your grandson gets well soon and doesn't need surgery. That is really not a situation a little guy like that should be in and the cause of it just makes my blood boil.

Ulrich, the situation in Canada regarding a house mortgage is much the same as you face. If you sell your house for less than the mortgage you are liable for the shortfall here too. Only on conditional sale contracts, such as a car purchase loan is a bank forced to write off any shortfall on a loan if they repossess. Here ususally people declare banktrupcy as a means of getting rid of large debts they don't have a reasonable prospect of repaying.  Luckily we really didn't have a real estate decline  of any significance and prices have started to rise again. Mind you interest isn't tax deductable so people tend to be a little cautious with mortgage debt as are the banks.

I went out to Michaels today and picked up a few shades of blue paint for the harbour water. I probably should do it with a murky brown cast as that is the look of Lake Erie but hey, it's my water and I want it blue!  Tomorrow I will paint the pink foam base and perhaps cut out the area for the harbour but I don't think I'll do much more until I get the lighthouse kit and see exactly where it will go. We won't get down to our friends in Thief River Falls until the end of March where I have my internet purchases delivered so I have a lot of time to work on that water colour. I put a Branchline Blueprint boxcar kit on the work bench and if I work at my usual speed I might get it done by the end of March.

Still winter here but it is supposed to get to freezing tomorrow and it will be sunny so basically a spring day.

Well Robbie is ringing the little bell by the back door which means " I have to go Dad" so bye for now.

 Good Morning Folks,

how can a decent hard-w*rking guy like me sleep, with all this a hum diddle dee doo and mah-nah, mah-nah going on in this Diner!

Chloe - Chloe? You can take those plugs out of your ears now, the guys have stopped humming. I´d like to have cafe au lait et trois croissant, avec beurre et marmelade de ceries, svp.

Did not sleep well last night, got up and dressed and went for a walk outside. It was warm outside, + 12 C. It´s those worries about Petra´s and my future that keep me from sleeping. I feel so helpless and insecure, because there is nothing I can do to prevent the worst from happening. Just sit down an wait for disaster to strike.

I wish I could be reporting on some mrr issues instead of ranting about my misery...

Good morning, all. Janie, just toast and black coffee , please.

Jeff- the reefer is looking better. The second coat is very realistic.

Ulrich- What will be, will.  To bad that loco got into the picture, was trying to see the city.

The temperature is at or near freezing at DeLand and Daytona. Many bikers camp out at the fair-grounds. When Deb was making things for the bikers back in 2001, we brought and gave some warm clothes to  who ever need them. It is about 35* here in Eustis.  No snow or rain at this time.

Too soon we grow old-  To late we get smart.

Blessings and Prayers.

Good morning All,

Regular and a coffee roll to go please Ruthie. I see Vinnie has the debris from the critters mostly cleaned up. With the deer gone I suppose we can try putting flowers back in the vase ?

Back in the shop to take another swing at it. Found one last wiring fault on the Lotus11 and i need to finish the harness for the Lotus 23 then align and balance it. After that we need to load up the trailer.

I see we've been prolific again this weekend so I'll leave the catching up for tonight when hopefully I'll arrive home at a reasonable hour. CUL, J.R.

Good morning all.

Did anyone else see, what appeared to be, an outhouse driving down the highway? Maybe I need some coffee.

Jeff-I’m no artist and I can’t match a color if my life depends on it. (that’s why my entire wardrobe consists of blue jeans, they go with anything, colors, stripes plaids. Neutral color hats, and black and brown boots.) And I can’t tell names of colors. I can see different colors, just don’t know what they are. But, there is a color or something I’m not diggin’ about the boxcar. My opinion, and I’ve been known to differ from the masses, but I juuuust can’t put my finger on it. Keep tinkering, you’ll get ’er sooner or later. But of more concern. The Hair Snakes. I see your problem with Hair Snakes you've mentioned before.Laugh

Colors, I’m real wacked out on colors. I have a color astigmatism. Example, Chloe, please lay out several colors, red, blue, brown, green, burgundy, maroon and aqua, for instance, and ask me to identify them. Thank you. Now give me tie to forget what I picked. dum de dum (three seconds have passed) OK long enough I've forgot. I can see 7 different colors. However, depending on the light and the density, value (whatever that is) and shade of the color, I may have trouble differentiating between the green and brown. Most times not. BUT, with those same issues with the light and the density etc of the colors, I may not be able to assign the proper name to the color. I may call Burgundy, Maroon, I may call the green, brown Aqua I may call aqua or green,or possibly light blue depending on what dominant color I pick at the time, and yes aqua looks like a blue green to me( I assume the same appearance to you) but I also round my colors in speaking. Now, and here’s the weird part for you people asking, “how did he ever work on car wiring” IF you were to say here is the colors you are looking for or pick this color out, I can do it without a problem, possibly except for like Maroon or burgundy, wine... something like that because, though they all look different to me that would be a color I don’t know, or care, which one is which. They're just shades of red. Odd eh?

I’m up and dressed for Church. No excuses this week I even went to bed early last night. Besides, the McVickers have fellowship and man can she bake!

Have a Great Day!!!

Todd: I can relate to your thing about colors. I'm somewhat colorblind myself. I have trouble with blues and grays. I can see several shades of blue but other shades of blue show up as greens. I can see light gray and dark gray but the various shades in between show up as white, black and silver, hence the reason I don't use blues and grays much.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have the #2 special, eggs over easy, bacon, home fries, and a double order of sourdough bread toast all to go along with my dark raost coffee in a FGLK mug.  Thanks you!  I'll go sit in the front booth and watch the little white thingies floating by on their way to Syracuse........Whistling

It is currently 32°F here in the Finger Lakes with a forecast high of 33°F this afternoon.  There are a few sn*w showers and flurries hanging around being caused by the good old Great Lakes Effect machine.  No real accumulation of the stuff is expected.

Huh?  What's that RobbyWar between the US and Canada........  ShockShockShock  What happened!?!  Oh a game....  Hockey?  Aaaaahh, the Olympics!  USA playing Canada.......  One or the other will probably win don't you think?  (Dang hearing aids.....)

Chris, I did an arrangement of the original "Ma-na-ma-na" by Piero Umiliani with my 6th. Grade Middle School Chorus a couple decades ago.  By concert time you couldn't go anywhere in the school with having someone go, "Ma-na-ma-na"  and everyone else singing "Doot doo bah doo bah".  Most of the faculty was no longer speaking to me as they couldn't get through a class with out it.......  The "cool" teachers just played along and it died out in their classes.  Of course a certain music teacher joined in every chance he got.  Used to pop my head in a couple of the 6th. grade classrooms and sing, "Ma-na-ma-na" and then scoot down the hall to my room.  I have always loved the Muppet version of the song.  BTW I had several 6th. graders do some Scat Singing after we ran out of the original verses in the concert.

Overslept again so I won't make Church this morning.....  I will do penance by getting everything ready for Deacons this coming Wednesday.

Time to get the woodstove fired up for the day.

Later!

Good morning. It's 42 and sunny. The high is due to be in the mid 60's and mostly sunny.

I got hold of four solar powered lights yesterday that look like Tiki torches. I was looking for some lights similar to some accent pathway lights I already had when I chanced to look up at the top shelf where a bunch of different lights were in operation. I saw a couple that looked very similar to what I was looking for then I saw the Tiki torch and all the others paled into insignificance by comparison. It didn't just light a small area underneath it, it lit the area around it. I thought 'The heck with the pale blue ones I thought I wanted. I'm getting these!'. A box of two cost $24 and some-odd cents, so I grabbed two boxes. The lights are adjustable up to 52" in height. I set them up yesterday, two at the end of the driveway and the other two along a path that goes past my neighbors trailer. I saw them in action last night and they made their pale blue counterparts look like garbage. Each Tiki light has a flickering yellow LED that mimicks a flame and looks quite realistic. I'll be getting more of those Tiki lights in the near future.

 Good Afternoon Folks,

it´s been a dull day so far. Spend most of the time watching British steam movies on youtube.com  and doodling around with some more track plan ideas.

Germany is getting hit by the first spring storm of this year, but , luckily, we are being spared here in our region.

Jeff - that boxcar is coming along nicely!

Have a good day!
