Robby, happy B-day.Happy B-Day

Todd and Barry, leave some cake for us to eat, huh?

Went to Panama city today to do some more parts hunting. I managed to get a prop rod, a few switches (for lights, not trains), the clear piece of the intrument cluster, and some brake brackets. All were

Yesterday I got bored and rigged together a small switching layout:

The construction materials are plywood, cardboard, and duct tape.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Spent a few hours over at my sister's place watching she and her husband move furniture to make room for the holidays. I mostly stayed out of the way and watched but I also lent a hand where needed. Wish I could have done more but my meds really drag me down.

Evenin' folks!

Flos I'll have a decafe and a slice of that birthday cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream right beside it, please and thank you!

C'mon Barry We all caught you crunching those cookies the other day, but then almost everyone was (with the exception of a couple who insist on dunking them in their coffee).

Almost ready for Thanksgiving feast here at the Howard household.  Pies are baked and in the refrigerator (keep your hands off!).  Squash has been cooked and just needs to be baked tomorrow.  Turkey has been thawing in the fridge for a few days.  And... the house is more or less clean.  OK so it is less clean, it will have to do.  I am bushed and ready to just sit around and relax for the rest of the evening.

My sister from South Bend should be arriving shortly (if she got an early start like she hoped to).  We'll spend most of the evening just chatting and catching up on family stuff I think.

I may start on another CD transcription while I am waiting.  Catch yu all later!

Rob- Hard to tell. I noticed Robby hasn't been in his train room much since I mentioned the clean almost new looking hoppers I saw the UP dragging the other day. I hope I didn't bring him down, especially right before his Birthday. I should think before I speak.Black Eye

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBBY!!!

Vincent, Al Harris is out for the year???? CRAPPPPPPP

CN Charlie, yeah, people form the desert will move here and think our summers are hot compared to theirs. We have some crazy humidity here in the summer.

John, no prob. I usually get about 4 or 5 clumps from one bundle of strands I pull form the bag. and idk how many bundles can be had form a bag. I just make a hole in the scenery, add a drop of white glue, stick the fibres in, and cut to length while still holding the bundle, then pull it away and tease it around with my fingertip a bit to get them to spread out.

Lee, yeah, I'd say -40 is COLDDDDDDD

Robby, I might be an idiot who did that. Of course, some people might mistake me for sasquatch.

Went to Ryan's for lunch; it's my parent's anniversary today. Got my check for the GP30, hopefully going to go and cash it alter, then go to the LHS and get what I need to finish the backdrop.

Good afternoon. It's 61 and sunny.

I woke up today feeling somewhat better than I did yesterday. Almost anything would have been an improvement. My temp is down and my ankle isn't hurting - much. I'll be taking it easy today. My blood sugar reading was 77, so I have to get those numbers up a bit.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBBY!!!!! 30, I vaaaaaaaguely remember that! Laugh

Lee- Oh yes, If they keep calling I'm sure the FCC will get an invite to play along with the StateWhistling. It's bad enough they pull this stuff on people like us, but you can only imagine how many older people get these phone calls and are easy pray. I mean gee whiz, how many accounts do people close out in the course of their lives? To come back almost 20 years later and claim there was an outstanding balance that must have been over looked. Who can really remember for sure? And to expect them to pull a statement and cancelled check out from that many years ago? Yeah right!

Ray- Noooot very long. I got my say in early. Don't worry, you diners that are Rivet Counters are in the GOOD group. The majority I should say. Well, kind of in an exclusive corner of the good group. Sort of the Executive Branch so to speak.

Now that you mention it, on my way out I think I'll stop by and see how things are going.

Hello again all!

I'm glad to be home early today from work... I passed my first Physical Characteristic Exam today! Unfortunately there weren't any roadformen available to take us Newark Division guys for our Verbal Exam... That will happen on monday!!!  Please pray for me, as I am more than a little nervous about it!

Happy birthday Robby!

Glad to see that all the same faces are here!  I too am incredibly thankful for the friends I have made here in the diner!  Even though the diner has moved more times than Bobby Fischers chess pieces have!!! LOL

Thank you for making me feel so welcome, I am looking forward to the day that my qualifying at work is over and I am a promoted engineer!  Then I will be able to put all of your modelling ideas to work on my, as of now still on paper, layout!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!!  Remember, if you don't know the calorie count, it doesn't count!!!

God bless and keep you all safe and sound until the time we gather again!

May He bless you, guide you, and keep you safe on your journey through life!

Morning! Chloe, I'll have a cupa your strongest in this here SP mug.

Worked on the grade to connect the staging loop up to the (not yet built) mainline. It pencils out to a 3.2% grade. Hope that's not too steep, but when I get some track on it, I'll run a few tests...

I'll be over at the rivet counter, placing bets with the others about when that other thread gets locked!

Mornin' everyone!

What's this Zoe?  Birthday cake for breakfast?  Sounds OK to me, make it a big slice and my cup of dark roast in a FGLK mug, please.  On second thought, make it a pot of dark roast coffee.........

My sister from South Bend will be arriving late afternoon or this evening.  Not sure when my son and his partner will be getting here.  But once they all arrive, I won't have much time for cleaning the house, so I better get doing THAT soon.  Actually I am pretty much on schedule for getting it done.  Just have to give the bathroom a good scrubbing and the kitchen a tidying up............ My older son and I were thinking yesterday that it has been about 35 years in a row that I have done the Thanksgiving Feast here at my house (and the house before this one....)

OK!  Going to get moving....

Well today is the BIG 30!!!!!  Do I feel older, yes and no.   Not much planned for my b-day today.  I will do stuff for it this weekend.  Today, just chill out, and take it easy.

Jim......I haven't touched much on the layout.  Kinda having to watch money (taxes).  I have enough done to switch and make some laps.  I also have a yard with four sidings.  That gives me enough to do.

Sawyer.....I've seen that as well.  Would I.....................NO WAY!!!

Hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning,

The diner moved without a note, I wondered why the coffee was cold all day.

Sawyer, the last time I went hunting not far from Weyauwega, WI my friend and I got caught in some nasty cold weather. The wind chill dropped to -40F while we were in the swamp. Fortunately we had tapped chemical heating packs to our tee shirts (under several layers) otherwise I’d probably still be in that swamp, LOL.

Jeff, that bridge in Lake Charles is a traffic jam even when there is nothing wrong, I bet an accident would cause a major delay.

Good dose of information regarding scams, maybe you should file a report to the FCC, there is a form on their website to report those scams.  The violation comes from some phone law.

Good Morning All,

A regular and a blueberry muffin to go please. Museum last night fitting some of the resin castings we made and painting and ballasting some of the elevated track. Beore that it was three hours of hard graft floating out the new concrete (which I'd never attempted before). Never again - after all that w..k on a 9' x 12' area it still looks awful and I'll need to grind down high spots and fill in a few divots with epoxy before putting the floor to use. Banged Head Oh yeah and my back feels like Jeffs' leg must.

Jeff - I hope you've called the doc about the creeping pain. If you have an infection traveling up your leg it is serious.Take care of yourself, please.

Der - I usually have my camera but no time to stop when I'm on the road. Murphy at work again. The piece of lyric you quoted is paraphrased from Bob Dylans' "Blowing In The Wind" e.g." How many deaths will it take til they know that too many people have died?"

Gotta love the yarbles on some of these bill collectors (con men?). We had a situation where a lady with the same last name moved out of state leaving a financial mess i her wake. They were calling every Mitchell in the phone book repeatedly trying to collect (not trying to find her, but trying to collect). Again a call to the state was needed to get it to stop.

Time to get out in the shop and get to it. Catch y'all later, J.R.
