 Good Morning everyone,

October is saying goodbye with a crystal clear and blue sky and a frosty temperature, just above freezing - the kind of weather I like very much.

Zoe, coffee in my LKAB mug and a blueberry muffin, please n´ thanks - I´ll be at the window to watch the switcher and his crew getting prepared for the day´s tasks.

Today, some of our furniture, which we had sold, will be picked up. Used furniture does not give you any amount of money worth advertising it, but we were lucky, that one of our not so near neighbors just wanted to have the cabinets we cannot take with us. A friend of mine is also joining us to pick up the railroad literature  I sold to him.  In total we make a little over $ 400 Thumbs Up - money we urgently need! The house is now starting to look uncomfortable - many empty spaces! It is time to move on!

Monday I have a meeting with the counselor who helps us with our debts. Purchase value of all our belongings is a little over a million dollars, the mortgages and debts run up to less than half of it - should we be lucky, the current market value will just cover that, but I am afraid, it won´t, the real estate market is all the way down Thumbs Down. After that meeting Petra and I have to see the job counselor. I again have to explain why it does not make sense to turn in more applications. I am already listed with all headhunters, so sending a CV the second time around does not help. Petra will probably be sent to a vocational training measure, something meaningful like how to drive a forklift truck. Oh, well Disapprove

A very good weekend to all of you!

Good morning,

Jeff thanks for the link, I also ordered the build your own backdrop CD-ROM from Bush.  It was only $6.99.

0.5” of rain today is in our forecast.  I have to head over to a friend and install a closet door and start working on my girlfriend’s garage project today.

Keith the paints at the craft store are water soluble Acrylic paints.

Todd, we moved her from the “family homestead” about 10 years ago, the neighborhood went down hill after my Grandfather passed away and then her son (my uncle) passed away so the amount of stuff is limited in her current apartment.  My brother and mother live across the street from her place so it shouldn’t be too bad, maybe a one day thing.

Welcome back new haven!

Heartland Division CB&Q

Hello ... Just returned from Alabama.

I briefly skimmed over recent diner posts.

Chuck .. Sorry to learn of your loss of Kathy. It must be sad for you. Also, sorry to read about the fire.

Joe ... congrats on the test scores.

Sawyer ... Lots of wins at your school. Congrats!

Bama ... The little one will be here before you know it!

My layout has been idle with all the stuff going on. News about little grand son, Oliver, in MI is still good. My time helping elderly Mom in AL is not good. It's been very rough on emotions for my sisters and myself.

I took a sanity break in Alabama and visited the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum. Photos are below. Much of the equipment needs restoration.

Good morning.  Its halloween, and yes its suppose to rain.

Finally off from work.  My work week is Tues - Sat morning.  Kinda sucks, but oh well.

Not much planned at all.  Just sit around.  Maybe start on some train cars I bought.  Get the fade going today.

Sawyer.........A high school game between Gaffney S.C. and Spartanburg S.C. a few years ago was 2 to 0.  Gaffney got a safety, and this was the championship game!!  Talk about a bad way to go out.

 Good morning.

It's 47 and partly cloudy. The high will be in the low 70's and sunny. I'll believe that when I see it.

Checked the rain gauge yesterday. 7.5 inches in 36 hours. Now that's wet! I'll likely be heading to heading to Alexandria today to hit Hobby Lobby and the LHS. Won't be buying much but I'll be doing a lot of looking.

BOO! he he Mornin everbody, coffee and biscuits and gravy please. Say, it's not raining and the suns out. Give me some Ed'sOJ too please. Thank you. Very funny Ray. I'm not wearing a Zombie costume. Now get up from under the counter and quit giggling or you'll choke on your breakfast.

Got about 2 and 6/10th inches out of the rain. Way more than needed but less than we were supposed to have gotten I suppose ( he he. I slid "have gotten" in again. English teachers hang on, you ain‘t seen nuthin yit!) . Should be thankful that we didn‘t get 7.5 like Jeff.Shock Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 51. West wind between 11 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 34. West southwest wind between 3 and 6 mph. Weather should be nice but brisk for the little monsters tonight. I have to work through most of Trick or Treat times, (5-8pm trick or treating times.) the owner and the girl they have wanted to take off for trick or treating with their little kids, so asked if I could fill in. I said sure. Might as well, I'm not allowed to give out candy anyway. For some reason my wife calls me stingy. Hey one piece is enough. They have all these houses the go to. Add it up! (actually it's the bigger kids I stinge out on. They get around faster and should have jobs to buy their own. The Tiny-mites, now they get more. But don‘t tell her.) Sooo, I'll probably make about even with what we spent in candy to give away. No trip to the LHS for me. Don't think I'll get to HL to use the 40% coupon so the population of Toddland will not increase. I usually buy the good people of Toddland at HL with the coupon. That puts them cheaper than even the FLHS.

Looks like more congrats are in order for some game winners. Ours was cancelled postponed til today at 2:00pm do to a soggy field.

Garry- Angelfor you and your sister. Times like these are tough.

Lee- Aah yes, that sounds familiar. I think you mentioned that before. Well that's good. It's funny that we aren't supposed to be material about things and say all sorts of stuff, but when it comes right down to it, the biggest problems occur over who gets what. Mom's divying.., divi-ing.., passing it out now so there won't be but a few things left and she's making it known who gets what (in writing) and the rest well, Goodwill bring a truck.

Inch- Great videos. ( I loove videos and pictures)The layout's looking real good. I can't run mine roundy round yet, but maybe this winter I can get that last part done. Still need to clean a few leftovers out of the train room. Looks like you have a real cute tiger there too!

New Haven- Welcome back!

Say, I seem to recall earlier, mentioning Toddland (of which I'm king) twice without mentioning I was king. Have I ever mention that in my little world I'm king and can do what I want?

Have a Great Day!!!

Good morning All,

Rain again this morning so I'm not doing the decks at the house. Hopefully it will stay dry and warm enough at some point before winter sets in. Doing gov't w..k at the shop instead and then back to the house late this afternoon.

Welcome back I-5. Golf eh? Not into golf myself but the CFO is and is pretty good at it. Prefer to drive myself around in circles for relaxation.

Inch - cute kid. Who's the distinguished gentleman in the beard? Wonder how many of us sport beards here at the diner ? At any rate welcome back. I see you've perfected the art of "drops on the fly". Strictly forbidden now but probably still done on the sly.

Ulrich - hopefully the paperwork will end at some point and you can get back to trying to recover from all this.

Congrats to our champions and winners and successful drivers exam survivors. I can share the pain of expensive registration processes. When I got my first Triumph TR-3 it cost $350.00 used (yes it was a loooong time ago) and the registration was ok, but the insurance bill was four times what I paid for the car (I might have had a speeding ticket or two in my recent past then). Ouch! Worked all summer and didn't save a penny after paying for the car, insurance and parts to fix it.

It's tough when your parents get on in years and I guess a lot of us are in the same boat. My MIL is still in the extended care facility but rarely recognizes anyone. Still she's happy and cared for better than we could do ourselves. My mother turns 90 next year and is already trying to divvy up the contents of her home. It's very uncomfortable, but we also realize that if left too long all kinds of hard feelings can crop up and fueds can last a long time.

Well, the air compressor is charged up, the coffee is gone and so am I. Catch y'all later, J.R.

Morning all.  Yes, Inch, I'm still on baby alert, Amy was due back on Tuesday, so we're waiting.  And thanks all for the information about the possible improvements on other CSX lines.  I'm glad to see the extra traffic, I really am.  I think that the Bow Line should get used more, but that's just my humble opinion.  By the way, I'll have an order of biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon and a tall glass of milk.

Today is supposed to be a cloudy, gray, rainy day, all the rain that was in Jeff's back yard should be in mine today/tonight.  That's all right though since I have to w**k.   I'll be going in at 12 and not coming out until after 9 tonight (so youse guys probably won't see me).  Well, I've got a couple of hours before I have to report in, so....I'm going to hang out in the window booth.

Good Morning, Janie - Is there any Apfelstrudel left this morning? No? Sigh Okay, I'll go with a cinnamon roll and some coffee in a Santa Fe mug, please 'n' thank you.

Sun is shining in Cape Girardeau, and they're saying we might have more of this (or at least, no rain) for the next few days. So hang in there, all you Diners east of me - your turn is coming. Now, the Southeast may have a bit of the rain until THAT front moves off the East coast... But the sun's coming! Yeah!!Cool

howmus
Had to fill out the Customs form over at the desk with circles and arrows and information about my honesty.....  I thought for sure they would make me sit on the bench marked "Group W"....  But after I gave the lady at the window a few pictures of some dead presidents she gave some other pictures of dead presidents back and a reciept and said, Have a nice day..."  Went back to the diner...

Ray, either you have spent waaayyyy too much time listening to Arlo, or else you are the 'Ray' in that song! Laugh Yeah, I hear you on the blood sugar - yesterday at w**k, someone brought in an 'All Hallows Eve' bag of candy corn, candy pumpkins, etc., so of course - as you said - I had to sample them...

NS Joe - way to go on your test! Thumbs Up Now, drive safe and get those safe driving habits down pat, before you go take the driving test (and start driving on your own).

Todd - if the EPA or Greenpeace ever stop by the Diner, a lot of us are gonna be in trouble with them...hypothetically speaking, of course... Whistling

Vincent, make sure all you put on your tax guy's ticket can be justified, or else he may have to increase your taxes again to cover the gas money for his Lambo. Oops That does kinda suck, though.

CN Charlie - you couldn't just leave the leaves to mulch under the snow until spring? Smile,Wink, & Grin

Sawyer, winning the homecoming game (after your big soccer win) is gravy! This has been your (and your school's) week, hasn't it?

Garry, sorry to hear about things for the family with your Mom and her stuff. Will keep that in mind and AngelAngel That Connie looked pretty good, but you're right - a lot of the rest does need a bunch of w**k on them. Get you some rest.

Luke (I-5), maybe you could put a golf course (or at least a driving range and miniature golf) on your layout? (I think Merten makes a miniature golf course set) Sign - Welcome back, by the way!

Ulrich, every extra bit of My 2 centsMy 2 cents will come in handy. Good that the  cabinets will go to someone you know, and I hear you on moving on as the home starts to get stuff moved out and more space left. Time to get moved to your flat and start making it your and Petra's own, arrange things how you want them, etc. Thumbs Up Do you know how soon you will be moving into the new place yet?

Jeff, your rain total for those days isn't surprising, after seeing how all of our rain (and even the rain after it was a bit east of us) came through your neighborhood. And this was a slow-moving front too - more of a fall monsoon than those things in winter that create lots of turbulence and even twisters! By the way, print and take your H-L 40 percent off coupon before you head out! I'll have to pass this week, as payday's too far away for me.

With some of the talk about caring for Moms and Dads, reminded me that I got 'spared' (not sure that's the right word for it) most of that, as my grandfather, Mom, and then the closer Grandma all passed over a 2-3 year period (health problems, one stroke, etc.), my grandparents in Nebraska died during a time in my life when I couldn't get up there, and when Dad died, he was in Arizona (my brother lived in L.A., so he'd been stopping by to check on him before Dad died). So I never had about any of my relatives (except my Grandma was in a St. Louis home for a while, with my uncle tending to her - also during that time I mentioned). They've all gone on ahead, so I get to wait until I meet up with them. Hoping I don't have to wind up in a home, though I'm sure there are some good ones out there, they seem awful expensive nowadays and I'd rather not have my daughter and son-in-law get that bill.

Okay, on to today - the morning's going well, no calls or pager so far. Sent email off to a gal from 30 miles away with whom I've been writing for a little. Haven't seen any photo yet, but she is 5'8", so she's tall (I like that in a woman). We'll see where that goes.

I'll chill out at the front booth and watch the morning switcher do it stuff a while.

Blessings,

Jim in Cape GIrardeau

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, a nice big bowl of Hot Oatmeal with brown sugar and a cup of dark roast in a R&GV Mug would suit me fine.  I'll be at the Rivet Counter make snide remarks about everyone's costumes for the day.....

A Happy Halloween to all!  And a Happy All Saints to you tomorrow!

Wonder how many of us sport beards here at the diner?

Here's one!

No Barry that is not a scary mask!  That's just 'lil ole me having fun at the museum..........  Man talk about snide!

Ulrich, hopefully you will not only be able to cover your debts, but have a bit of a nest egg as well when all is said and done.

Garry that museum has a nice collection of Fairbanks Morse H-10 (H-12, whatever config they are) locos.  Do they still run?  Also a nicely restored Fireless sitting there as well.

Jim, love that kinda stuff.  I even like Philip's song..... You know, "I don't wan' a pickle, Just wanna ride on my, mo.......ter sickle......"  Speaking of Philip.....  He hasn't been around much lately.

Hearing many of you speak of the "end of life" issues of parents and other loved ones brings back memories of just a few years ago.  Both my parents are gone as are both my FIL and MIL.  The last was my FIL who was also considered a friend and the one who got me going in the hobby 40+ years ago.

GMTRacing
My mother turns 90 next year and is already trying to divvy up the contents of her home. It's very uncomfortable, but we also realize that if left too long all kinds of hard feelings can crop up and fueds can last a long time.

A wise lady!  My sister and I had to clean out my parents house after my Father died.  We also had to make plans my Mother's care during the same time.  Only took a year to fill the 30 yd. dumpster and 2 more garbage trucks with the stuff that was just junk.  My Mother luckily was with our other sister in Indiana during most of the "cleaning out" as she would have been a major pain.  She wanted to keep everything..........  How about three 30 gal bags full to the brim of plastic knives, forks, and spoons... Well you never know when you might need them!  My thoughts and prayers are with all of you dealing with these issues!

Well best to get a move on, the morning seems to be almost over already!

That's South Carolina for you. I remember back in 8th grade went to the AHS-SAHS game, and SAHS's only score was a safety. and AHS had 30-something points. Course, all the seniors from that team graduated and left the team this year. Next year we'll be good though.

Good mornin', well, almost afternoon.... Janie? I'll take a cup of coffee please, in the CNW Iowa Division mug, yep...at the RC.

My goodness, this place has sure been busy in the last two days or so. Good to see the King of Toddland has been in, along with the rest of the regulars, I see we have some guys back after some time away; welcome back!

GARRY: Hope everything w**ks out OK in your family situation. I'll bet the "sanity break" did some wonders for you. A quick question, what is/was the boxcar looking thing with the faded Strategic Air Command logo on it??? I barely remember seeing a photo of it, I think in the old C.B. Colby picture book on SAC...long, long ago. I'm sure SAWYER, NS3010 Joe, and the other "young guns" in here probably never heard of C.B. Colby and his dozens of really cool books.

BAMA CSX (Eddie): Continued best wishes for you, the wife, and the wee-one. Just wait, she'll decide to pop out at the most bizzare/inconvenient time. Just think, if she's late for her own birth...how's her time-management skills gonna be down the road? Mischief I think that might be part of why my Loving Wife is chronically late for anything/everything. I swear, my wife would be late to her own funeral...

NS 3010 (Joe): Congrats on passing the written exam, good luck on the driving test. Again, keep your sound system turned down so you can hear sirens and horns, USE the rear view mirror frequently, and pull over and stop for responding emergency vehicles. Consider all other drivers to be insane morons who haven't got a clue what they're doing. Lecture ends.

Well, thanks to TODD and BARRY, it seems the mystery of where the airbrush cap went to is solved! I wonder if Rerun didn't decide to try his hand at painting...maybe he wanted to redecorate the cat or something...Smile,Wink, & Grin

JIM: I'll find out, probably Monday, what THAT thinks about Clippers neutering Wildcats... she was flappin' her jaws about so many things during the staff meeting, I really didn't have a chance to run it by her. She may let it stand, she may offer a slap upside the head, she may laugh at it...and change it anyways. Like I said, I never know whats gonna happen there.

Not much else, so will yield the floor. Might get a little farther on another XTRA grain hopper. I grabbed one off of "theBay" and have had to add several decals to it to get it to match the one I recently built (thank you Microscale for the new decals covering these cars!). I "should" go rake and/or mow. This evening, we're taking Rerun out for "Boo Burgers," his annual Halloween burger run. He is the ultimate guard dog, and having the streets of Clarence full of trick-or-treaters would drive him nuts. Too many targets of opportunity. So...we load him up, ship him out, and return after the official Halloween hours have expired.

Have a good day...

Happy Halloween .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0thH3qnHTbI&feature=fvw

Watch carefully, and you may recognize some of the Elliots Diner patrons. For instance, the guy sleeping in the background could be Duke.

Thanks everybody for the kind remarks. Looks like my MI sister and I will make frequent trips to Alabama to help my AL sister with Mom.

Baby Oliver continues to progress rapidly. He is now doing the thumb sucking stuff.

Barry .... I do not know about the electrics. I think I'll post elsewhere in teh forum and ask if anyone knows. They are not listed on the museum website.

Chris ... I saw three NORAD cars. All were former WWII troop sleepers. I wondered if they were part of the missile train of the Cold War era.

Ray ... I don't think this museum needs all three FM switchers. These are just parked with other beat up old equipment. Perhaps, your museum could buy or trade with the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum. That way, the Alco there won't be lonely.

(Door opens to the sound of Pomp and Circumstance) Hello all. Servant, Dr Pepper please.

Count me in for a beard also.

Been working on the Whataburger. Time to rest and let some stuff dry.

PC- Thanks for the memories. Ahhh the pie fights, I remember them well. No girls, no need to call Vinnie, just a fond memory.

Chris- Glad to be of assistance. Especially when there was no physical effort on my part. Missy looks forward to Halloween. She just loves greeting everyone and guessing who they are. She gets it right most all the time. She cheats though, that super snoot of hers is her ace in the hole.

Garry- Love the video. Is that what Duke looks like? Why is he strapped down? Too many Berkshire photos probably.Whistling

Ray- I think we've compared notes on house cleaning for the parents before. A draw wasn't it? ( though I noticed you may have trumped me with the plastic eatin' irons. 30 gal trash bag full huh?) I throw something away every time I come back from her house or think about it. I guess it's a good reminder of what could happen if I save all the stuff I think is useful.

SERVANT! Where's my Dr Pepper!? (SLAM!) Well it's about time. ( Flo stomps off to the kitchen) A man could die of thirst around here. (gulp, gulp, gulp) ShockAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!! WATER, WATER!!!! Somebody get me some water!!! What's in there!!!!??? Tastes like Habanero sauce, Horseradish and Molasses, cut with fish oil!!!!!

I feel sick.

Jeff, print and take your H-L 40 percent off coupon before you head out! I'll have to pass this week, as payday's too far away for me.

Went to Hobby Lobby but didn't buy anything there. Everything I got came from the LHS.

I picked up three new Bachmann freight cars today. Two covered hoppers (Shell Plastics, Santa Fe Conditionaire) and one three dome tank car (Deep Rock). I just sprayed them with Clear Flat and they're outside drying right now.

PC- Thanks for the memories. Ahhh the pie fights, I remember them well. No girls, no need to call Vinnie, just a fond memory.

How much rain did we get in the past couple of days? Vernon Lake has gone from 12 feet below normal level to 6 inches below normal level in less than 48 hours, and this is a lake that covers thousands of acres.

 Spooky Jack o Lanterns
Happy All Hallows Eve to all the Diner gang.

Chloe, I think I heard that Petra has sent us some German Chocolate cake made from pumpkins.  If that is true please cut me a double slice.
Ulrich and Petra , you good folks are in our prayers.  I know it looks gloomy right now, but with trust and faith you will eventually see the SILVER LINING.
JEFF,  Keep those feet dry as that lake comes up.  You may have to keep your hip waders on if it rains any more.  Can hardly believe that much water has fallen.  WOW.
Its a pretty chilly evening here for the kids out Trick and Treating.  So far we have only had 35 kids. Very cool east wind tonight.  Quite often a east wind brings in some lousey weather here.

Not much MRRing going on here right now.  Still working at getting the basement back in shape  after the disaster this summer.  It is slow but progress is being made when I find the time.  I was looking at all my kits the other evening and decided that I am going to have to retire for the fifth time if I will ever get them all built.  However I see that as a plus as all the prices seem to be going up, I guess I bought them at the right time.

This seems to have been a very strange year for us and I can hardly believe in a few hours it will be November.  This year has gone by faster than any other I have experienced.  Do any of you feel the same way??

Our Roughriders lost big time today in Hamilton, so it depends what happens in a couple of other games this weekend as to whether we get a playoff game or not.  We'll be keeping our fingers crossed.  But they played very poorly today.

Such is life...   Hope yours is as good or better.   I'm still smiling,  hope you are too.

Johnboy out.....................   Hope the "Wobbly"  wobbles soon.      Can't wait much longer.

Good Evening Diners!

Wow Johnboy, 35 kids seems like a lot. Last year we got zero but had a group of 10 tonight. I wonder if our house being dark, as in no lights, has anything to do with it?  Just kidding about the house but our street is dark due to the trees. Hope all gets sorted with your basement and the wobbly gets to wobble soon.

Jeff, that is a lot of rain but there is an advantage to living in a trailer as you can always pull it to higher ground.

Jim, good luck with the lady and yes tall is nice. My wife is 5'10" so I do share your sentiment.

Had a little trip to the LHS today. I picked up the latest issue of Classic Trains which I always find is a great read. I also got a CN piggy back flat car in N so that I now have 3 of them. I find that 2 of the same often just doesn't look right and 3 does. Perhaps it's the influence of my wife who is a gardener and has always told me you can't plant 2 of something but must do it in 3's. I also got some KD #5's as I need to replace the accumate or whatever came with the PK2 box car kit I put together a while ago.

Barry, hope you are feeling better soon and if it is anything like the flu I had last week it only lasted 3 days so you should be fine  by Monday.

See you soon.

Hallow'een is over here on Sober Island. We were inundated with 2 teenagers, (neigbour lad and his girl friend), and 2 local grade school kids That's it!  More than last year, Kris thinks.

Hello folks, it's been so long since i dropped in, my bookmarking of when I last looked in the window says Page 30....and I know I haven't stepped inside for a while before that! A Big to all new since then, and Congratulations and Happy Birthday to all celebrants too.  I'll have a JR Regular with some of the dark chocolate mousse I saw Chloe putting in the fridge. Thanks.

There's nothing like the threat of a layout tour to get the place tidied up, track cleaned and odd things sorted out. Today I hosted a master modeller from Zurich. This guy scratch builds brass European O Scale (1:45, I think it's like OO is to HO) Here's Hans in his workshop. He came bearing gifts - the magazine looks to me to be called "Locos"...and is a sort of MR rather than prototypical like Klambach's "Trains".  Anyway, he brought it because he has an article in there. I'll scan that and post it separately...Ulrich and other German speakers will get more out of it than I do, but the photos of his work are outstanding (as are the other phots in that magazine BTW). The tour was a huge success, everything worked better than it has on any previous layout visit.Thumbs Up  The switching moves all worked smoothly, trains appeared from their hidden staging as they should, not just the loco...as has happened BlushSigh  Hans took loads of pictures, which considering the fineness of his work, I took as a compliment.  Hans and his sister (who with her husband also live in Zurich, but have a summer place a few miles from here) grew up in the "next village over" from where the viaduct modeled on the cover of that magazine is located!  That's some photo-backdrop by the way, I wonder if it's from the same folks you use Jeff.

Time to put the clocks back...What to do with the extra hour...maybe run more trains Yeah!! So, I'll say Goodnight and God Bless. Prayers continuing for all in need of hrealing, comfort prosperity and peace.Angel

Central Fla. still hot and DRY. Water restrictions going from twice a week to once a week . BUT, they have given a water bottling company permission to draw millions of gallons from the St.Johns river. Money talks.

Blessings and Prayers to all.

We had about 150 kids tonight. That's better than last year, but still not close to previous years when we would have 225 to 250 Trick or Treaters. Still, it's one of my favorite evenings, probably because it's also my birthday. I did well in that department this year too. My wife bought me a Susquehanna SD45 at the train show in Timonium, MD earlier this month, as well as a Golden West Service refrigerator car. The SD45 doesn't really fit with my collection of Western Pennsylvania railroads, but I've had a fancy towards that paint scheme for a couple of yesrs. She's certainly no help in my trying to control these spending habits.

Happy Halloween everybody.

Evenin' folks!

Just a cup of decafe for me tonight flo.

Only had about 20 little monsters at the door tonight.  Way down from the hundred or so i used to have years ago.  My granddaughters put in an appearance.  They were dressed in cow outfits that when you pressed a button on the tummies went, Mooooooooooooooooo!  I asked Olivia (the 2 year old) what cows say nd she knew and said, Moooooooooooooooooo!  She came into the house and made a bee line for Thomas the Train, pulled the box out and wanted Grandpa to get it put together for her.  Her Mom said no not tonight, we have other places we have to go to.  I don't know who was most disappointed, Olivia or Grandpa........Whistling

ROFL!

"You can feel it all over, you can feel it all over people.....

I don't know, just like that song...........

Spent the last hour and a half trying to get my SanDisk flash card to allow me to delete files....  Went into the info window for it and it said I don't have permission to write files.  Said the disk is read only.  Wierd as I have been able to delete files every since I got the card.  Tried reparing permissions with the card in the reader.  No dice.  Went to the Apple site and looked up in support.  Nothing.  Found a couple related items in the Apple Support Forums, but nothing specific.  Tried every trick, but the disk was staill listed as read only.  Scratched my head  bit on this one.  Finally went to the SanDisk web site.  After surfing around there for a few minutes I found the card and did a support search for it.  One article was about the little lock switch on the side of the card.  Evidently at some time I must have accidently locked the card.  Switched it to "unlock".  Ta-Da!  Card now lets me read and write.  Whew!

I got a worksheet printed out for each of the Scouts w**king on the RR Merit Badge tonight.  Tomorrow at noon we will drive over to the Museums for a ride on the trolley and the train.  Should be fun!  Tomorrow is supposed to be a nice Fall day here in the Finger Lakes.  Nice day for a train ride.  I will also check to make sure they know FRED......  "Have you seen FRED???"  "Where is he?"  They will also do the requirement on how a diesel locomotive develops power.  We will be checking out the RS-3 #211.  We keep her doors open on Sunday so you can see the prime mover and the generator.

Time to set back some clocks.  Catch you all later!
