The visit to the docs office went well. The old wound on the bottom of my foot is almost healed up. The doc estimates another two or three weeks for it. The lower incision on the side of the foot is healing well. He estimates another three to four weeks for it and as for the upper incision from the most recent surgery, he estimates about two months. He did a new culture swab of the from upper incision and has sent it off to the lab. We're hoping it comes back clean.

Here's a photo I took today of my MKT tank car on the east side of the layout.

Chloe,  I just stopped by for a quick lunch.  It sure has been busy around here for a few days.

I will try to check in later.

Sawyer:  Congrats on the soccer game.  No go out and KILL, my friend!   Our soccer team here at Jesuit is wiping up the competition like crazy--my co-Conductor is coach of the JV team and they are taking absolutely No Prisoners, LOL!  I really admire you--that game is absolutely non-stop!

thank you Tom! hehe, I'm gonna be PUMPED up for the game tonight. If we win, it'll be my first championship in the playoffs with a team at Citizen's Park. And we're playing a team we beat 5-0 the last time we played them (they beat the #1 seed last night!)

I ain't gonna play JV soccer for my high school though. Had a ton of homework last night and didn't really have a lot of time left between the game and my homework. and I don't have a study hall. I don't want to have that AFTER soccer practice this winter, so I ain't gonna play. Church league basketball starts Sunday though (first practice), and I'll be running on the track at an elementary school within biking distance of my house. We also have our weight machine working, finally. So I'll be staying in shape, that's for sure.

Good afternoon/evening....

Chloe? Double cheeseburger basket, bucket of coffee please 'n thank you...yep, at the RC.

As always, some interesting stuff here in the Diner...

TODD: Your rant on "newbies" was admired, and applauded. In looking through the past year of the paper for contest entries, I found a letter to the editor rant opposing leaf burning (it smells, it makes people sick, it's not good for the environment, polar bears are going to drown because of it...). There as a second letter, same edition, that also reeked of nanny-state, "I know what's good for you, you don't" intrusion.... And I had to have a rant of my own. Poor Mr. Rerun, he's used to it, but he still just shook his furry head, said "well, there he goes again..." and headed back downstairs. Oh yeah, I have no doubt you are fully abiding by the intercontinental ballistic airbrush cap treaty... and thus have zero expectations to see any launching my way from the South East. I must admit though, I still have no earthly idea where mine has ended up.... Perhaps it was swiped by a rogue modeler, heck-bent on air brush cap superiority???

I don't think we've seen the last of this...

Speaking of rants:

ULRICH: I don't think I could limit myself to one rant day/year... you know how the German temper is...maybe not comparable to an Indian temper, 'eh JEFF? But, THAT said, I'd hate to bottle it up and then go launch an annual blitzkrieg...Whistling Glad the wheels are turning again for you. Are you getting any kind of a break on rent by putting in the flooring, etc.???

JIM: Loving Wife was w**king by flashlight, because she was on absolute deadline. She was on the last illustration, when the power went. Fortunately, she was able to finish it, we got power back a few hours later so she was able to scan it; and the stuff was mailed-out to the publisher the next morning. And, I didn't really "sneak" anything by THAT editor, I think she quickly realized 700-800 words wouldn't be enough for the topic, to do it any justice and be fair to all five candidates.

Speaking of THAT editor, she finally talked Mr. Publisher into buying her a new camera: Nikon D-300. She was fiddling with it, and set it to RAW format. Mr. Publisher shot a crucial high school volleyball game with it...now, they can't retrieve/open/do anything with the pictures. OOPS. So, THAT asks me for help/advise. I have no idea, all I know about RAW is THAT told me to "never use it." Maybe that's why.... Anyhoo, so, I set THAT up with Loving Wife, AKA: "The Graphics Goddess." I think Kit bailed-out THAT editor. Meanwhile, I'm w**king on editing/processing photos I shot last night from the start of the post-season for high school football. I also have to finish two photo features (captions and a paragraph or two of text...no sweat), and write up a game report. Since it was the Clippers vs. the Wildcats...and the Clippers won 38-3, should I say they "clipped" the 'Cats? Or... "The Clippers neutured the Wildcats with a 38-3 win in the opening round of the post season..."??? I like neutured, THAT editor might not.

I think I just made up my mind...Mischief

Greetings to the rest, gotta get back to w**k....

I've learned that I hate painting bright colors.  They're never opaque enough (gray primer oops!) and I don't know if its just the particular bottle of spray paint I have but its almost always mottled.  And if I give it more than one coat or try to just paint it more, I wind up flooding the surface.

I suspect its the bottle because it seems to spit every once in a while, even after I tried to clean it.  I guess I should learn to airbrush so I have more flexibility than whatever reds come in spraycans.  The red I have is much brighter than I'd like, although I have a hard time telling just how bright CP-like red would be in person on a factory clean unit.

Good evening-

Got my buys from the FLHS today!! HeeheeheeMischief He ended finding 4 of the ARNOLD S-2's and found some replacement gears for them as well ---sold the lot for $20!! Yes, I'm fully aware of their ---ahem---issues. We tested a couple of them on his layout there and seemed to find no issues. If there be issues I'll use them still--can always remoter/regear etc---Smile,Wink, & Grin Then the 40' boxcars---unmarked "OEM" boxes, supected that there were early Kadee N's but---(?)---about 60 in a lot for $30!! Smile,Wink, & GrinPirate Plus a bunch of ATLAS houses in kit for $30---he is in the process of a major clean up and ENLARGEMENT of his store he told me----and no, he ain't going RTR--he wants to go other way---seems he fell over a huge 'underground' market of kitbash scratchers out here---Whistling

We did not see an iota of sun---even though the weatherguessers kept saying there was going to be sunny periods---as the afternoon wore on the forecaster kept getting more desperate soundingWhistling Almost like he was muttering---"let me be right just once this week? Please?"Sigh---

Anyway---gonna get these organized into some semblence of order in my disordered room---heeheeheeSmile,Wink, & Grin

Chloe, I'll have a Strawberry Pie and a RBF please---I'll be over at the RCSmile,Wink, & Grin

Evening everyone...New diner here. My name is Tim Warren. I live in Liverpool N.Y just outside of Syracuse. I have been married 10 years and have a beautiful daughter. I work as a Bio-Med Technician in Dialysis for St. Joes Hospital.I also am a Firefighter\EMT volunteer in Liverpool. My passion for trains started like most usual stories as a child with the Lionel set. I will not bore you all the details. I have has quite a few layouts over the years in all scales. My current project is a "U" shaped 12x14 HO layout set in the typical transition era. My passion is the NYC. I am also partial to Erie Lackawanna and the Pennsy. My weakness is the Southern Pacific which I secretly collect. My layout is set in autumn which I truly love as I think it makes the scenery "pop". Pictures will follow soon I promise. I belong to two clubs.. www.syracusemodelrr.org and www.cnymod.com . Thats me in a short nutshell...anymore questions just ask me!!!..I will take a nice big slice of apple pie please...Tim

A true friend will not bail you out of jail...he will be sitting next to you saying "that was friggin awesome dude!" Tim...Modeling the NYC...is there any other?

Evening all. Chloe, I'll take a RBF and a bacon cheeseburger, thanks!

I'm so physced for tomorrow!!!! We've got the State Driver's Permit Test (aka NJDM Test)!!!!!!!!! I'm feeling really good about this, but I'm going to overstudy anway. I got a 100 on the practice quiz on Tuesday, so hopefully that'll be a good omen.

If I pass (all I need is an 80), then when I turn 16 in June, all I have to do is my 6 hours of practice then I get my permit Big Smile

I'll be at the RC studying. Wish me luck!!!

Evenin' folks!

Flo, nothing for me tonight I have a blood draw tomorrow.  Supposed to be next Tuesday, but I called and pleaded that my being bad with all the candy around and birthdays to be celebrated that it was just plain mean to have me wait til Tuesday and have certain things like my sugar screwed up on the tests.....  Well I could have a nice glass of pure Seneca Lake water with touch of agricultural runoff and just a hint of Ontario County Landfill leachate......   I'll go sit at the Rivet Counter for a few minutes.

Hey there Tim!  Sign - Welcome to the diner.  Sit a spell and have desert on me.  Liverpool, huh?  That's just a hop and a skip down the Thruway from me here in Geneva.  Tell me are you an NMRA Member as well.  The Central NY division is a very friendly and helpful group with some awesome modelers and helpful people in it.  I spent Saturday a couple weeks ago riding on a train with a bunch of those guys.  I am Superintendent of the division just West of you.  Are you going to the Syracuse Show?  (Think I already know the answer...... Whistling)  I'll be there on Saturday.

Have any of you folks in here purchased decals from Rail Graphics?  I am looking for car sets for the Tichy flat cars and Rail Graphics appears to have what I am looking for.

Hope everyone has a great evening!  Prayers for those in need.....

Good Evening,

TIM (Fireman 216): Welcome Brother! I've been meaning to say "hello" and things, just haven't quite gotten to it. I'm a vol. firefighter also, former EMT/Paramedic. Good to have another Dragon Slayer in the Diner! Thumbs Up Ladies? Put his pie on my tab.

Well, I've gotten a little more w**k done for THAT, she'll be happy with the pics. I'm gonna float "Clippers neuter Wildcats" by her, see what happensEvil. Kit sent her a link to where she can download updates to Photoshop so it'll take care of her accidental RAW files. Kit thinks THAT should've done some research before making Mr. Publisher buy the camera, like maybe seeing if the company software can handle it or not... It should be interesting at the staff meeting tomorrow, we'll see if THAT has her tail between her legs, ears flat, deep remorse...Whistling

Did I hear right? A LHS discovered guys actually WANT to build kits, scratchbuild, and kitbash??? WOW. Maybe I need to relocate. I have no problem taking the knife and saw to a Blue Box hopper. I'll be darned if I'll do that to a $50 Tangent hopper, which is the same thing only finer detail. There are a lot of "how to" articles I've clipped over the years, and most of them involve hacking up one kit, grabbing parts from another, and building something just a little different from what most others have on their layouts. I really like the idea. I guess that kinda flows into a nearby conversation on "what do you miss in MR?" Well...I miss all the great kitbash articles, though it seems I have more from RMC in my files.

Where oh where is this wonderful LHS catering to guys (and gals, sorry Sue) who like to BUILD things?????

Geesh, I might be headed into Old F**t territory, "I remember when..." hobby shops had row upon row of kits: Athearn, MDC/Roundhouse, Train Miniatures of Illinois (anybody remember them?), Front Range/McKean, and Walthers to name but a few. RTR was AHM and Tyco.

I'm gonna go over to the RC and sulk... ladies? a bucket of coffee please 'n thank you...

Good Evening, Chloe - I'll have a RBF please, and some cheesey fries. Yes, I know it's not the afternoon, I just feel a hankerin' for cheesey fries and a float, that's all. Thank you.

Gee, Keith, who'da thunk it? Where else but the Diner could one get free medical and health info (NOT to be confused with medical advice Mr. AMA monitor, nope, Keith meant NOTHING of the sort!) Whistling  Hey, now that you've cleaned the O scale bird poop off that roof, will you be weathering it?Wink On that kit, I can only say, paint the supporting structure first, BEFORE adding the 'glass' (of course), and be VERY sparing on whatever type of adhesive you use. I'll let those who know more fill in the dots for us.

Jerry, I forget which station it was, but  when I was growing up in St. Louis area we had one station that was a Clear Channel station - I think it was out of our area (WLS in Chicago?) that came in fine after dark. Of course back then, some stations also shut down at nightfall, too. (Geesh - am I showing my age, or what?) Sounds like you're getting your motive power whooped into shape for hauling, eh? Thumbs Up

Tom (Wright), I wish we had a station around here that had that kind of radio. There are a few good ones, but Itend to get bored with just one kind after a few weeks, so I usually have some CDs in the car and will switch over to those (or burn my own mixture CD on the 'puter).

Chuck, I may have missed your post about Kathy passing (I sorta recall the fire, but you know how memory can go...), but I am glad to hear you're doing okay currently. I think I'd probably lose most all of my layout if I had a fire, since I have probably 95 percent of the structures or more, are made of plastic. Shock I like Iain Rice's plans - can you post a picture of the plan somehow? Good that you have some  four-footed company with you. AngelAngel

Chris, I could almost hear your arteries groaning and hardening from over here. Evil (forget the planet, save yourself that triple bypass...Whistling)

JR - on the layout thing, email me... I might have something of interest to you.

Barry, for my cleanup, it'd take a weekend... or two, since I have stuff in the living room under the layout, some stuff on the dining room table, and a bunch of stuff around the bedroom walls (except I have to get into the closet for my clothes, of course). Smile,Wink, & Grin Looks from your list like you found a bonanza in there!

Oh, FYI, Diners - it's been pouring down about half of today. Later tonight, we're supposed to have part 2, with flood warnings (ground is supersaturated and we have at least another 4-6 inches due of that stuff that Keith thinks we all should get plenty of... (I'd rather just drink mine, thanks!). The weather predilection today was for "100 percent chance of rain today and tonight, and 90 percent tomorrow night."So those of you east of me, better load up your arks!Captain

NS Joe - best wishes (and AngelAngel) for your driver's exam (and driving)! Thumbs Up That brought back a couple of memories myself. Wink

Sawyer, a good job there on that MNS boxcar (Robby would be proud for you)! Thumbs Up

Calif.Tom - that's one sweet steamer, all right! Wouldn't mind talking you out of that one (fat chance, I know..). I think that would fit my puny 90' turntable, too. Yeah!! And how plump will Uff-Dah and Her Spookiness be by the time your sister and Mom head for home? Wink

A (belated - I'm catching up from earlier...) Sign - Welcome to the Diner, Fireman216 (Tim)! Have a cup on me, and fill us in on yourself and your layout/plans/dreams, etc. Thumbs Up Ah, I see Todd has already asked you about that (and good thing he didn't volunteer me for the top of page bill!).Smile,Wink, & Grin

Todd, I don't blame you a bit for that 'Springfielder' rant - personally, I like having at least some smell of leaves burning when it's the fall season (so long as I'm not downwind from the pile...Oops).

Shock Man, don't mess(TM) with Jeff, after hearing about the leverage he pulled on the noisy neighbors! Laugh Love it, Jeff - and I have called the cops on my neighbors when they're having a party next door at 11:30 p.m. on a weeknight (when I have to get up at 6:00 a.m. and get ready for w**k the next day).Mischief

Uh, Ray? On those flat cars...? BowBow You DA MAN! (Please give us directions for what you did - and taaallllk slooowwwwly for us notetakers)Yeah!!

PC - on your w**k thing, "A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do..." Thumbs Up If the other folks were as on top of their job as you were, they wouldn't have anything to worry about. 'Nuff said...Whistling (I would say you did the right thing, without overly rubbing their noses in it) P.S. - Tell Bart and friends that I love '10'. Got it last weekend at local used CD place (but it was new - the store carries some new as well)

Lee - don't they have a 'do not call' list in Ohio? I'm on both the Missouri one and the national list as well. You can probably find the Ohio one online if they have one (plus the national one), and you just need to call those numbers from each phone you want listed as "DO NOT CALL". Then if any telemarketer calls you, you just politely ask them what company they're calling for, and then inform them you're on the DNC list (if you like, you can turn the company in if they call a second time after that). Cuts down the dinnertime annoyance calls... On the apartment cleanup, I'd say it depends on whether she has all the stuff she wants (or that she's giving to any of the kids). For the other non-keepable stuff, you could either put it in storage for a limited time in case someone in the family may change their mind and want something, or just rent a big enough dumpster. Other suggestions? (I'm a bit of a packrat, so you might re-consider some of what I just wrote...) Oh, and I'm waiting for your folks there to file a complaint against any seagulls for all their noise (and poop...). Oops

Ulrich - good to hear you are making "one more small step for Ulrich-&-Petra-kind". WinkThumbs Up Will keep your preparations for the flat and for your move on my Angel list. Glad to hear the official okay came through finally! Hey, I'll vote for THAT 'Official Rant Day' - where's the petition? Laugh

Robby - on the SuperTrees, I'll warn you that making them gets kinda messy (I think I'm okay on the TM for 'messy'..Wink). When we did them we had papers spread across the garage/shed floor under where we hung the trees after dipping them in - I think it was - dilute white glue or matte medium. But the results can be really nice.

CN Charlie, take care of your hand/finger - and cute sister cats there! Thumbs Up

Chris - just read your options on THAT ball game write-up. Do you totally enjoy tormenting THAT editor? Evil (heh, heh, heh...)

Well, I'm not quite caught up, but it'll do for now, I suppose. AngelAngel continue for those in need of them (about all of us), and best wishes for an awesome Friday for all you Diners. Yeah!!

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Good late evening all...still no new baby yet.  Amy's extra miserable able the whole thing.  She was due back on Tuesday, so we're waiting patiently.  Just a RBF for me, been doing a whole lot of things here recently.  I did two side jobs today, all in all it put $100 in my pocket, so I can't complain for three hours worth of w**k.  Will probably go and w**k on the house tomorrow, still have to get the flooring down in the master bedroom, and also still got some painting to do in there, but we'll see how things go.  Amy seems to think that Mikayla is going to be here within the next day (she's been feeling a few contractions, but nothing consistent), so I'll be on a wait and see.

Sorry that I haven't been able to get in here like I normally am, but things have been hectic.  The signals are still getting set up at the crossings here in Troy, looks like at least lights, but probably lights and arms.  Been getting more traffic through too, dunno if the signals are in preparation for regularly increased traffic, or just something in the plans for a while.  Welp, that's about it for me, going to hit the sack in a moment and get a little shut eye.

And it appears that I have the TOP, so y'all eat up, I've got it to spare!

Ray buddy~  Thanks for the comments on the flat cars. I am doing the process slightly different from the way Tichy recommends. “… I Thank You Ray!  I’m watching and taking notes.

Lee,   Thank you  for your input. . “For glue I highly reccomend Microscale Krystal klear”… I shall get some tomorrow.  I just came back from the Hobby Store and .. forgot the Krytal  Klear glue.    Bought all kinds of paint  though.    Had a real blast and   ended up with the Poly Scale Paint..Water Soluble

Engine Black, Railroad Tie Brown,   Concrete color,   Roof Brown,

Flat Aluminum,   Stainless Steel,   Oxide Red (Santa Fe Brick building color?)  Box Car Red   (very similar to oxide Red),

Pullman   Green ,  which reminds me of  an oxidized copper green color, perhaps mix some other colors to get a better copper green,  aged Concrete color,  ATSF Red,   Oily Black.. looks like a very dark charcoal

..  and recommended by the owner.. she likes using.. Zinc Chrome Primer.. for brick buildings and one bottle of Rust color.  And one  spray can of Dullcote.   Whew, I can’t wait.100_0262.jpg picture by Blazzin55

The pic of the Santa Fe Train Station... the brick is what color? .. Oxide Red?  or.. Zinc Chrome Primmer?  Good thing this is water soluble.

Jeff,   Jeanne looked at Target to find Non Acetone nail remover.. couldn’t find any.  I should have tried at the hobby store while I was there.  Jeff, glad to hear everything is going fine.  Although I think it was Joe.. or Jerry who said .. ah.. Maybe just try some thinner.. or something.. just sitting there.. and try to soften it.   I’ve got some time.~   Ok.. I feel good, funny thing about a full stomach.. its never lasting .. I will hunger again.  Its such a false eurphoric feeling.

 Good Morning, everyone!

YAAAWN - it is way to early, not even 6 am yet, as I start to write this post. Chloe, I need my coffee IV to ge me eyes open.

Folks, I am still in favor of that one and only National Rant Day - one full day of ranting, bickering, growling and howling in public, without anybody able to do any harm to you. The rest of the year we do our ranting here ... Big Smile

Fireman216 - a hearty Sign - Welcome from this side of the Big Pond! You have found the right place - the folks in here are friends (and that´s something rare and precious in these days)!

Jerry - that is one of a cute little granddaughter of yours - I bet you are really proud of her! And she seems to like trains - Thumbs Up

Sawyer - congrats on that soccer championship Yeah!!. When I attended Highschool in the 1970´s, no one was interested in soccer, so times must have changed quite a bit. In Europe, it is still the no. 1 sport, also in school.

ns3010 - I´ll keep my fingers crossed for that driving permit - I got mine 36 years ago  and I still have it. "Washington State Learner´s Permit" it says.... The license I got two weeks later, after passing the driving test - a 10 minute drive! Since then, I must have driven over a million miles...

Jeffrey - good to hear that your foot is healing nicely - keep it up that way, mate!

Chris Eight Ball - I really like your adventures with THAT editor - the way you tell them is so entertaining, so real that I start to get a picture of her. Let me guess, she is in her early forties, about 5´6" tall, long dark to black her, wears a careful make-up and an expensive perfume and usually a gray or black business dress - right or wrong?

Keith - "Covered Glass Window Pane Station Area"? What the h*ck is that? A train hall? Those Germans Laugh. Actually it is a model of the train hall of Bonn, the former west German capital city.

To assemble it you just need regular plastic cement - the liquid kind with a needle applicator should do the job perfectly.  The correct color of the steel girders would be a dark, silverish gray.

Btw, my wife has fallen in love with your dog - she just adores Huskies!

Nothing special planned for today - just wait and see what surprises life has for me today.

You all have a good day - today is PoetS-Day! That´s P*ss off early, tomorrow´s Saturday! Smile,Wink, & Grin

Ulrich, Good day to you Sir.  Since you're up, well waking up...~ To quote you..  - "Covered Glass Window Pane Station Area"? What the h*ck is that? A train hall? Those Germans . Actually it is a model of the train hall of Bonn, the former west German capital city.

LOL,  shss ! I'll wake up Jeanne.  I dunno know what its called.  I looked at the box.. it just said Pola. Ah yes..~  now I know, lol, looked good to me.. "I'll take it!"  Its part of my multi-level layout that goes back in time at you move up.  I know.. good luck. Well to me.. that station represents the newest level.. like ah.. ah.. 1965 -1985.  But in truth, aside from looking nice.  I saw it on one of the 'Harry Potter Movies' .. the train station had one of those over-head glass thingy stations.  But in truth, I haven't a clue as to .. how it goes .. next to the station / over the tracks and so on.. sure  And / how or where to in-corporate it next to this station.. lol.  I know, I know.. enough to make most seasoned modeler's shudder.  But what do you think.. next to this station?   Since you and I are both up anyways?  lol.MainStation1985-1.jpg picture by Blazzin55

By any chance would you happen to know the name of this station?  *As Ulrich slaps the slide of his head.. slides his hand down to his mouth with bottom lip furrowing*     "Ninkuhmpoop"~!

To assemble it you just need regular plastic cement - the liquid kind with a needle applicator should do the job perfectly.  The correct color of the steel girders would be a dark, silverish gray.

Well my friend I went out and bought two kinds of silver.. of the water base sort. Since its water color.. I would like to think .. you could mix and match your own colors.   Maybe add some blue to go with the silver? Or green~ both!

Btw, my wife has fallen in love with your dog - she just adores Huskies!

Shes my sweetie..   the huskie too!  That particular color is called a 'Copper' somewhat rare, identified by the markings on the nose.  But usually the hair is much red/orange.  Her mother was pure white, and the father was a white silver brow (very wild looking)  Huskies carry on a conversation with you.  When I was told of their traits, I didn't believe it. But they don't take no for an answer.  They will bow wow for the next 5 mins sitting there talking with you, on why you should let them have another treat.. or go outside.  I have to let her out during the day.. esp during summer.  Huskies can take the heat.. only if they get a chance to cool off each night. And they generally don't drink water during the hot day... but at night she loads up with tons of water.  I've been told its all part of their system to survive in the wild. I also didn't know Huskies really don't bark..  they are basically quiet.   On a personal note; she even says  "I Love You" in her bow wow growl manner.  its pretty funny if you never heard it before.     "Jeanne~ Is that our dog saying "I Love you'~  to the neighbors dog?"

Which happens once in a blue moon.. but this month~.Which happens to have two full moons this month.  Which happens to be haloween.  So my rant is~100_0253-1.jpg picture by Blazzin55

I buy this kit.  Looks fairly easy.  My gosh.. its brick red.. and a brown roof.   I open it up and what do I see~  The plastic colors are two colors.. brown and red.  You guessed it, well they got the colors mixed up.  To me, I would have rather seen my bricks red.. instead of brown.  And the red roof.. OMg... you'd think they could get it right.. well its a 50-50 shot to me.  Just one word came to me ...  Ninkuhmpoops!

 Keith,

I just prepared a long post, which was lost - Banged Head

Here I go again, but now the short version.

Your depot is the right part of Bonn Main Station, there is a middle part and a mirrored left part. The hall fits nicely to this building.

Here are some pics:

Hope this helps...

Sir Madog
I really like your adventures with THAT editor - the way you tell them is so entertaining, so real that I start to get a picture of her. Let me guess, she is in her early forties, about 5´6" tall, long dark to black her, wears a careful make-up and an expensive perfume and usually a gray or black business dress - right or wrong?

Laugh You're not too far off...her hair is short, kinda blondish, brownish, something chemically created! Mid-forties. Never seen her in a business dress...or even a dress at all. She does the "professional look," but has been known to wear skirts with knee-high boots...Whistling

If you go to www.northlibertyleader.com and look at the bottom of the page, the 2008 North Liberty Discovery guide is posted as a .pdf file. On page 34 is the crew. I'm not in it, I joined after it had come out. Once the 2009 guide is up (probably in early 2010...), then my smiling face will be there too. THAT is the one with the "glamour shot," top right corner. Yep...everybody else got shot outside standing in front of a wall, THAT decided she had to have a glamour shot.

Kinda says something about her, dontcha think? Thanks ULRICH, by the way...I try to be as entertaining as possible around here, and yeah...it's an adventure sometimes!

JIM: Torment? Nahhhhhhhh, I don't torment THAT, I just gently push and poke to see where the guardrails are. Put it this way, I never quite know what she's gonna do. I did an article about two young ladies who are part of a ladies' hockey team. I was going to call it "chicks with sticks," but thought it might get somebody's feathers ruffled/undies in a bunch...especially, THAT's. Well...I named it something much more tame, but mentioned half-jokingly what I wanted to call it. SHE LOVED IT! I forget what she ultimately went with, but...ya just never know what'll w**k or not with her. Someday, I might write a book about life as a smalltown newspaperman... "Life with THAT editor..." Smile,Wink, & Grin Of course, the dedication will set a world's record for using "that."

I saw where somebody is taking their driver's test today...good luck! Hey, keep in mind: flashing lights and sirens mean MOVE RIGHT and STOP. I can't tell you how maddening it is to be on a response and have idiots who simply will not pull over...who are oblivious to the big red fire engine right behind them. If it's not some moron on their phone, or texting...Confused, it's some dumbcluck who has their "system" cranked up to where we can FEEL the bass in our unit! Makes me really want a top-mount .50 cal. some days...SoapBox Keep your "system" to where you can hear things like sirens and train horns. USE the rear view mirror, frequently.

Thank you.

I should also say "thank you" to the UPRR. They have a rail grinder out tonight on the Clinton Sub. He's w**king on curves. With near-constant rain all day long, and still raining right now, he won't be lighting up any ditches or fields on me.

I've forgotten who it was that was asking about CP Rail red, and having trouble presumably with rattle cans. A little late now, but white works good under red. I also recall a Paint Shop feature (no longer a part of MR) where a candy apple red SOO Line SD-60 was the subject. The guy primed the loco with silver under the red. Looked sharp! I'd probably use Floquil's caboose red. I just used a rattle can of it a month or so ago on a Chicago Central caboose...sprayed just fine. The trouble is, it is really tempting and easy, to apply too much too soon. When they say "many light coats," they mean it. I really, really recommend the Harbor Freight airbrush and compressor...might even be on sale again. Cheaper than the name brands, but I love it.

Speaking of paint, hey KEITH: that's quite the paint grouping you've got there. I think I can safely speak for the group when I say we want pictures, frequent updates of how the depot and the glass train shed thing from Germany turns out.

TODD: Well, I looked at the latest city council minutes from Solon. It says: "with the town growing more people were complaining about burning (leafs)." City folk moving to the small town. Crimenently... It's like they're saying "I don't care if YOU've lived here for 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 years or more. I'M here now...and I don't want to smell burning leafs. Deal with it."

To them, and all who think they can tell somebody else how to live, I offer the following: "If you suppose that good intentions justify intruding on the lives and properties of your fellow citizens: Do you appreciate being the target of somebody else's good intentions, or haven't you had that particular dubious pleasure yet?" The quote was atributed to a Cat Farmer...I haven't Googled him/her/it yet.

SAWYER: Congrats on the WIN! I don't know what it is about soccer, but it sure seems to be taking off.

BAMA CSX: a Tom Petty song comes to mind: "The Wait is the Hardest Part." EMS legend has it, you could take her for a drive over particularly rough RR crossings... or put her in an office chair and take her up and down stairs...help shake things up a bit...Evil Seriously though, I hope everything goes well. Sometimes, kids just have to crawl out (as it were) on their own schedule...no matter how inconvenient to Mom and Dad!

I suppose, since the w**k is done for THAT, and the can of "writer's helper" is now empty... I oughta head on off to bed. Have a good, SAFE day everybody...

Ulrich,  My friend.  Thank you so much! I can't believe it.  Whew, that is a relief  Those pics are a great help.   Now I have something to go by.  Is it safe to assume those are street car tracks on the street?  Thanks

 Keith,

streetcars are a quite popular means of public transport in Germany. After a decline in the 1960´s, they saw a boost in the late 1970´s, which is still ongoing. You can go all the way from Bonn to Dortmund by streetcar, that´s a ride of more than 120 miles, covering 7 major German cities with a total population of 18 million people.

Here is a pic taken close to Bonn station:

Good morning all,

Jeff, every time I see that backdrop I just want to burst into a chorus of THE HILLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC!  I guess I’m going to order one, what was the stock number?

 Sawyer, Congratulations!

Jim, they have a DNC for cell phones, but not home phones.  TX has the best law in the land on DNC regulations; I think I made $250 in 3 years down there.  They share part of the fine with the home owner.

Bama, well looks like congratulations will be in order soon! Ask her to walk around the block a few times that should help.  I knew exactly when my two kids were coming.  Their mother would have the entire house cleaned, including windows and light fixtures, all my clothes would be ironed, including my BVD’s then that night she had the baby, LOL.

Keith, that glue comes in a plastic bottle with blue print, about $3 each.  You can also fill in small cracks and create window glazing with it.  I use a yellow or green micro brush to apply it. Sets in about 10 minutes, dries in about 20.  For a good brick color look at the paints sold in the craft stores, typically they are the same as poly-scale paints except cheaper and you have several awesome brick colors to choose from.  I would look at a dark earth and mix it with sienna until you hit the brick color you want.  Remember bricks came in different colors, so if there is a good separation between build dates for your buildings there would have been a definite change in hue between the bricks.  Some people forget when they model an addition that the addition will be close, but will not match the original structure.

It's sold out at Walther's but here's a list of places that may have it.

Jeff,   Jeanne looked at Target to find Non Acetone nail remover.. couldn’t find any.  I should have tried at the hobby store while I was there.

I get mine at Wal-Mart. It's made by Equate and is labeled 'Non-Acetone Nail Polish Remover'. It come in a 10 ounce bottle.

Hey ya'll. Ain't been in in a while, so I'm catching up.

Sawyer congrats man!!

I brought the new car home Wensday. The battery is bad (I have a few extra one laying around, so I'm charging one) in it so we had to start it by pushing it and popping the clutch. I looked at the tripometer and gas gauge when it was home It read half a tank (6 gallons) and 221 miles, or 36.833.... mpg Big Smile; which is about a 12 mpg improvment (not to mention insurance is 10 bucks less). Not to bad for a 20 year old car. Although it's a bit over 1 second slower than the last car was at the 1/8th mile, I do plan to make some adjustments in the future to fix that by either putting a turbo on the 4-cylinder that's in it, or putting in a 5.0 302 V8 in it.

It does need to be cleaned up and could stand to be re-painted; but It's nothing I can't fix. Piant shouldn't be as expensive as the last car would have been since it's just a normal gloss red, as opposed to a gloss, metallic, and pearilising candy apple red.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

 Good morning.

It's 55 and very, very wet. The high will be around the mid 60's and it will continue to be very wet.

I got my new DVR (replacement for the old one) hooked up last night and got it all programmed despite frequent interruptions by the heavy rains blacking out the satellite signal. The most maddening part of the process was getting the unit activated. I called the number supplied with the paperwork and got a tech (definitely not in the US) who had a very pronounced accent that really threw my hearing problem (aphasia) for a loop. I had to have him slow way down so I could understand what he was saying. He got the idea and spoke more slowly and now I could understand him. Before his voice was just a meaningless ramble of scrambled sounds. I gave him the info he needed to activate the receiver and had the unit up and running in about ten minutes. All I had to do now was set up my favorites list and enter the shows I wanted recorded. I had written all this down before disconnecting the old unit, a lesson I learned the hard way many years ago. It took about an hour, twice the amount of time it should have but again the heavy rain was proving to be a problem. Eventually everything was set up and ready to go. The very first show to be recorded was 'Voyages' on History International. The program was 'Trains Unlimited - Circus Trains'.

Today will be a somewhat busy day. Gotta go out and pay bills and get the groceries. Also got the home health nurse coming around noon.
