Chris (THAT guy who has lunch with the famous Rerun)

Actually, JIM, Rerun IS famous! You see, he stars as "Rerun the Pirate Dog" in a little book called "The Pirates' Alphabet" written by a lady named Wigington, and illustrated by Kit Umscheid, AKA: "Loving Wife." Keene Publishing/Moo Press put the book on the shelves a couple of years ago, still availible through Barnes and Noble (they can order it if it ain't on the shelf), or through Amazon. GREAT alphabet/reading book for kids in the 4-10 range. It's not your typical alphabet book: "A is for anchor, B is for boat." Instead, Kit took Wiginton's words, designed a crew of charecters, and crafted a journey from A to Z "Ahoy to Zzzzzzzzz" with a boat full of funny pirates.

Yeah, I'm kinda proud of both of 'em.Big Smile

how hard are those Evans kits, and do they have any in 1940's-50's era? I might have you do a scouting trip for my next payday... (Hey, I can hope!)

I got your PM on THAT, not sure if the reply went or not. I think you mean McKean... I built an Evans plugdoor boxcar, by McKean, maybe THATs what threw ya. From what I remember, the LHS mostly had 50' ACF exterior post boxcars (modern) and some of the ACF smooth side single-door boxcars. I guess from the 60s. I believe these kits were picked up by Accurail, along with the ACF CenterFlo grain hoppers. They sure look and build about the same to me, except Accurail molded on the grabs while Front Range/McKean had 'em seperate. Also, almost all of the smooth side boxcars were in FGE "Solid Cold" paint and markings. I think it was a dreaded "foobie." I snagged one once, thinking I could make it a CNW patch. Then looked at my pics...wrong car style, wrong color. I soaked it in brake fluid, repainted it, and it became a CNW boxcar anyway from a general merchandise class, and not a RBL plugdoor as was anticipated. As for difficulty, like I said, the ladders and grabs are seperate parts, kinda delicate to cut off of the sprues. "Fit and finish" weren't exactly McKean (or Front Range)'s hallmarks, so I'd expect to do some adjusting to get things (like the doors, and the roof) to fit. For pre 1960s, I'd stick with the Accurail version. I rarely pick one up, but when I do it's: 1) for the nostalgia, 2) because I couldn't afford them "back in the day" since they were 2 to 3 times as much as a blue box, and 3) since I'm modeling '87 to '93 I can trim the ladders before installation instead of having to shave them off and then trying to match the paint.

The Front Range and McKean cars appear frequently on "theBay" as well. The last time I grabbed one there, it wasn't any more or less expensive than the LHS other than having to pay postage instead of gas.

Part of me wants to find the centerbeam lumber flats they did. Then again, I read a review which said THAT kit was a good reason to not leave a loaded gun lying around the w**kbench...Eight Ball

THAT all said, I can sure take a look for ya sometime when I'm out THAT way...and do a little recon for ya.

JEFF: I'd forgotten about the dyslyxia. But, with your wit, humor, and story-telling ability...I'd say grab a tape recorder and let somebody else do the typing.

Have a good even'nin eve'rbody...

Hello ...

Grandchild # 5 arrived OK in Michigan this evening. His name is "Oliver", he weighs 7 lb 5 oz, he and his mother are doing fine. Smile  Shelley is in MI to be with them.

Meanwhile, I went to Alabama to be with my 90 year old Mom. I brought here here to Kentucky for a few days before I take her back. I just gave her a layout tour.

Below is the George Wallace Rest Area just south of TN on I-65. AL has played a big role in NASA engineering, and the rocket is on display for that reason.

I'll continue to be busy for a while.

Keep those train rolling, and happy model railroading.

I see Jeff's taking his dinner by straw tonight. Hi Jeff! ("Smdfulkjdfsalh," eh? Don't worry, it'll eventually go away) (Hope I don't get a dentist like that when I have my wisdom teeth taken outOops) Are you sure you're not related to that other Jeff (Foxworthy)? Laugh

Not unless he's related to a bunch of Chickamauga Indians (lower Cherokee). As far as being a writer, I dabbled in that when I was younger . That dream got shot down when I was in the 7th grade. Dyslexia set in with a vengeance. Today I can only read for a few minutes before the letters start doing strange things and while typing or writing my eyes will start to hurt so badly I have to stop after a max of less than 10 minutes. When my nephew realized he has it he figured he came by it honestly as my mother and I both have it, she less severe than I. My two sisters also have it but not to the severe degree that I do.

Good Evening, Chloe - yep, it's 'hump day' Smile I'll have a hot fudge brownie tonight, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, please, and a CAW mug of coffee. Thanks!

Laugh

Chloe, if I behave myself, can I sit at the counter with Chris (THAT guy who has lunch with the famous Rerun)? Wow!! Hey, I'm sure Rerun enjoys 'doing lunch' with you. And I'd say I'm with you about fiddlin' with a kit, rather than buy RTR. Think I've only seen one Evans kit - ever. I just enjoy the process of putting together a kit (even a P2K one...). I feel like I did something, no matter how imperfect the end results may be. Hmmm, I may have just lost my RC privileges with that remark...Oops And we know that you really just like the buzz from those cold meds cocktails, right? (heh, heh...)

Hey, Chris - how hard are those Evans kits, and do they have any in 1940's-50's era? I might have you do a scouting trip for my next payday... (Hey, I can hope!)

Barry, good luck with your HB trip, and if you look hard enough, I'm sure you can find a LHS (but you may want to hold off on getting the ice cream until after that...). Oops Sorry to read that it didn't w**k out for you that way. Sigh

Ulrich, good to hear you have the paperw**k, so now we'll adjust our AngelAngel to the landlord getting back from holiday within the next half week or less. You are making good progress, from the sounds of things.Thumbs Up To chime in with what Chris said, I can tell you one nice advantage of flat/apartment living - no lawn to have to mow or rake leaves off of!Yeah!!

Robby - what kind are you making? Pine/conifers? Or something else? I have the fixin's, but have yet to do Aggro/others' method for making pines. But I have all the basic materials (did I mention that I have the materials?)....

Keith - you sound so bouncy and eager there (or did you forget your Ritalin...?) Smile,Wink, & Grin

(Just razzing you; I'd love to have your energy level when it comes to gettting more done on the layout here). Oh, the word I've heard is that the real fun starts with ballasting.Mischief

Ray, I'm guessing you have some kind of checklist of the stuff you need/want/have to have done before Monday, right? Ah, good.

DerJohn, sent you an email with a couple of things in it. How's Kris' writing been doing, since we've been talking about writers tonight?

Jerry, I like your excavating crew there - though maybe you need some more supervisors? Wink Do you have some Modge Podge (glossy) for the pond? I understand it w**ks pretty well, and isn't too pricey, either. It's what I will likely use for my puny little creeks on my layout, anyway.

Was trying to figure out how much I (realistically) want to try getting done for the layout before Christmas arrives (vs. how much neatening, straightening and tossing stuff in the apartment). But to get that figured out, i may need to just keep myself in one of the back booths a while and do the old pencil (or pen) and paper pad thing. Seems when I get going on the computer, I get sidetracked on too many other things...Banged Head

I may be in a back booth for a bit. Keeping you all in my thoughts and AngelAngel.

Blessings,

I hear ya Barry!  I decided not to get the oven on the stove fixed as it is 20+ years old and the company that made it has been absorbed by two or three other companies over the years.  Besides the old stove has a few other things about ready to fail and suffers from terminal crud from boiling over stuff over the years.  I do try to clean it.... at least a couple times a year, really!  So that will take care of any slush for a while as the new stove I want will set me back some $$$$.

Ran into my lawyer today.  Lucky niether of us were hurt.....  No, I saw him at the grocery store and while we were talking (he is an old friend as well as my lawyer) I asked him what I need to do to officially get out of business.  He says, easy just go to the county clerks office and file form xyz 32-4837294675 removing a DBA from your name pay three times as much $$$$ as you did to originally file the DBA and then report it along with your taxes........  Maybe Ulrich can help me, he seems to have experience at filing paperw*rk...Whistling

No rain here Barry.  Lots of clouds, but no rain.  I finished mowing the lawn for the year.  If it grows any more or gets covered in leaves, tough!  It will still be there in the spring.

OK, back to getting some things accomplished....

Good afternoon...Chloe? Coffee in the CNW Iowa Div. cup please 'n thank-you.

I am to cover a candidates' forum tonight for guys who think they want to be elected to the City Council in North Liberty. I'm thinking of wearing my old fireman's 3/4 boots...the pull-up type that come up to the thigh. I might need 'em for wading through all the bovine byproduct I expect to be in the room...Whistling I'm not jaded and cynical when it comes to politicians...really I'm not.

ULRICH: While I hate to see you leaving your house, I am glad the paperwork and red tape are finally being resolved, if nothing else think of it as a few less hassles on the road to a new (better) future. Oh, and I also think hibernation is a good idea this time of year. THAT said, it's 70 degrees out today, and mostly sunny. It was supposed to be cold, windy, and rainy. Weather speculators blew it again. The hourly forecasts keep saying "a chance of rain," but the way he says it, it's like he's hoping for it...."please RAIN! PLEEEEEEEESE RAIN!!!" As if that would vindicate his error.

The head cold/creeping crud Loving Wife brought home a few weeks ago still lingers on. I've been holding it off, more or less since she contaminated the house. Today, I've got a full-blown head cold going on. No, it isn't the dreaded H1N1, wrong symptoms...just a good 'ole fashioned head cold. But, it's enough to really knock down my productivity as I sit in front of the computer feeling stoned and wanting nothing more than to crawl back into bed. I tried listening to the tape from the bridge forum. After listening to the same quote 5 times, and still not getting it transcribed correctly...I decided to hold-off until tomorrow. The muckety-mucks are on vacation, so no facetime/staff meeting Friday (YAY!), so that buys me an extra day. I'll turn in my stuff on Saturday enroute to a waffle breakfast I am to cover.

Time for another round of whatever cold medications I can find. I usually concoct a little "drug cocktail" when it comes to these things.

Have a good rest of the day, and an even better night...

Sir Madog
Jeffrey - I hope your not mad at me, joking about foot & mouth disease. No offense meant!

None taken. I have a rather broad sense of humor.

Went and got the tooth pulled this morning. WHAT A RELIEF! One thing, if a dentist ever tells you 'this won't hurt a bit', grab onto something and hold on tight, cause it's gonna be a wild ride. Now, for the visit to the dentist. I arrived a little before 8 am so I was right there when the doors were unlocked. I filled out the necessary paperwork, the stuff you have to do when it's your first visit and you have no insurance. It wasn't long before I was called for my turn in 'the chair'. The dentists assistant got me ready and took an X-ray so the dentist would know what he's dealing with. OK, front lower molar on the right side, cavity there and big abscess. I could have done without those last three words for now I knew this wasn't going to be quick and easy. Now the dentist enters the room and has a look at the tooth first hand, as if there'd be something there the X-ray couldn't tell him. Who knows, maybe there was. He then picks up a curved wicked looking tool with a needle on it that could be used to drill for oil under Mt Everest and proceeded to put it in my mouth and before I quite knew what was happening he pushed it down between the tooth and gum, not once but several times. He pulls it back out and leaves the room for a bit presumably to work on somebody else while the numbing agent did it's work or maybe to have a good laugh, who knows which. At this point the right side of my face feels like it's sliding off my skull. I tried to say something but my tongue wouldn't move. It was at this time that I discovered my mouth was hanging open and I tried to close it but couldn't. It just hung open feeling like a limp noodle. A few minutes passed and the dentist reappears and taps the offending tooth. OUCH! It's still a mite sensitive. In goes the oil exploration needle again then he disappears for about five minutes. When he returns he taps the tooth again. I can still feel it a bit but it's not a sharp pain anymore. Now he picks up something that looks like a largish pick and peels the gum away from all sides of the tooth then grabs his extractor (pliers by any other name) and says 'now this won't hurt a bit' and grabs the tooth and hauls back toward the ceiling. I tell you what, there weren't enough places on that chair for me to grab hold of as I'm being hauled up off of it. Now while he's hauling upward he also twists the pliers from side to side then there's a wet pop. Suddenly the pain from the tooth was gone and I fell back in the chair wondering if the side of my face had hit the floor yet. I checked and found it still securely attached. Then they showed my the tooth. I could see why he needed the big long needle. That thing had roots some plants would kill for. Total cost of the procedure, $102. Well worth it in my opinion.

 "Coffee Please~"

Morning all... Jim,Barry,Jeff,Ray and Maddog! and anyone I missed.... oh.. and Phillip.

Jeff, by the time you read this.. well you'll be back from the Dr.'s Office/x rays.  I hope everything is just fine.   You should have warned me about that movie.  Flags of our Fathers is not.. NOT a morning movie to watch and work on the layout.  Not that you recomended it, but .. today.. I'm into more of.. Dream Plan Layout.. or the Sound Of Music.  AS far as my layout is concerned.. I'm still working on re-enforcing the ramps.  I said to Jeanne this morning... 'And even after I get the bracing done, there is still more building to make for industries and roads..a very long time til I get there'  No need to race to finish.. but every day.. I'm working on this.. hoping to find some .. some daylight as to the next step. Good thing I'm still having fun.  I just can't wait for the real fun.  Whatever that might be.. ah.. the landscaping.. lol.

Bye for now   Keith

Hey, Ray,  I like your secretary.  I bet that she is a lot of help.

Help.....?  Ah, oh yes, lots of help.......  I went and emptied the trash on the G5 last night to take the photos off the card and can't stop thinking that I should have checked what might have been in there before I did that....Confused She is a busy, busy two year old and flits from one thing to another every 5 seconds......

Ulrich sounds like you are close to being finished with all the paperwork.  Hope you can get the needed signature soon.  Good luck!

Barry?  Helmet?  What's a helmet?? ConfusedConfused  Maybe that's what happened....

Since the layout judging is scheduled for next Monday, I have to start budgeting my time to make sure I have everything done and the way I want it.  I am going to try to get more of the skirting done and up on the parts that aren't getting judged just to make the whole layout look a bit more "finished" and I have to clean rail make sure all little odds and ends are put away, etc.  That in addition to the usual  stuff I do this time of year for a couple community groups.....

Guess I best finish my coffee and get to w**k.  Catch you all later!

Good morning, another nice/sunny/warm day.  Kinda getting spoiled with this weather.  I believe next week we are back to the 40's!!!

I solder some rail yesterday, and man what a difference!!!!!!!!!!  The engine runs better, and I am very happy with the results.  I still gotta do some more areas, but that will be later.  I also made about 12 trees.   Maybe some more today.

Hope everybody has a good day.

 Good Morning,

lunchtime in Germany - Zoe, I´d like to have a bowl of that hot ´n spicy chili and a RBF to wash it down, thank you.

Slowly, the red tape seems to untangle, all the papers we need to rent the flat are with us now. We only need to get the landlord´s signature, but he is on holidays... Sad November 1st we are supposed to move out of our house, that´s only 10 days left... I am getting a bit weary about the whole issue. Petra tries to cheer me up, but with not much of a result lately.

Jeffrey - I hope your not mad at me, joking about foot & mouth disease. No offense meant!

There is a post with a video of  a civil war layout - gets a big Wow!! from me.

We are back to normal fall weather now, that is foul weather - lotsa wind and the odd shower. One of my anchestors must have been a bear - I feel like moving into my den to hibernate.

A good day for all of you!

Good morning, after several days of near winter weather the high today will be 72F.

Jim, all of them have water year round.

Last night I started working on a Walther’s Diner Kit for the Euclid MRR Club.  I assembled the stools and airbrushed the outside of the diner a nice “Aluminum” color.  I’m going with a red/white theme for the inside.

Good evening, Chloe? I think JIM has a good idea there...I'll also grab a hot fudge sundae with a cup of coffee in the CNW Iowa Division mug please 'n thank you...

Well, looks like it was another busy day or two here in the Diner...think I'm caught up.

SAWYER: I saw your discussion about a "new era or not." I was gonna add to it, but decided to take the advice of The Pointy Haired Boss (Dilbert). "When you see a pot of crazy, it's best not to stir it."

But, what the heck, I'll say my piece here. I've seen a lot of opinions offered lately since Athearn officially declared the blue box kits dead. It's a new era, to my warped mind, for a variety of reasons: fewer people entering this strange hobby, far more "limited run" production, and continued economic issues/cheap overseas labor/limited production facilities (everybody using the same Chinese producers). Personally, I think Athearn's decision sucks...but then 8 of the 9 projects (in various stages of progress) on my table are blue box products that I've taken the knife to, repainted, or otherwise kitbashed/customized. I've got at least 3 or 4 other blue box cars which will be stripped/repainted eventually as more appropriate Intermountain (kit) hoppers are obtained. I'm much more apt to hack up a kit rather than buy an RTR item...so one of the more enjoyable aspects of the hobby for me is quickly fading. Sooner or later, the prices on "theBay" will go up as people suddenly realize they are selling "collectables" and "rarities."

On a side note, The LHS in Cedar Rapids still has McKean kits on the shelf, with the original 1980s price sticker still on them. Last time I bought one, the clerk was confused...it didn't come up in the computer when he tried to scan the non-exsistant bar code all current merchandise has. He didn't realize the box car had been sitting on the shelf (through three locations) since 1988. Anyway, yes SAWYER, it is a new era.

But, it's all a matter of perspective. I suspect there was turmoil when kits started coming in that new-fangled plastic instead of metal and wood.

In other news and views, I met a genuine Hollyweird celebutard...I mean, "former TV star" yesterday. Anybody remember "The Wonder Years?" Well, the guy who played "Wayne," the sadistic older brother grabbed a 6AM flight from LA to Iowa to appear before the Johnson County Board of Supervisors. They were having a public forum to help them decide what to do with a partially destroyed historic bridge. He apparently spent time on the bridge in his younger days, has family in the area, and also sees it as "a potential 'location'" for future film making. I'd been tipped-off the guy was gonna be there, and had to Google him to figure out which charecter he played. At the meeting, the dude ended up sitting next to me. My brush with greatness, I guess. After the meeting, the local lawyer who recruited him asked me to take pictures of the actor/producer with some of the supervisors. OK, fine, what........ever. Good PR move for me/the paper, I suppose. Now the supervisors have a picture for their scrapbooks. "Wayne" flew back this morning, probably to do lunch with Spielburg...at least that's what the lawyer kept saying "he has lunch with Spielburg, he has lunch with Spielburg."

Yippee. I had lunch with Rerun today.

Speaking of, I think he's about ready to ask me to take him out into the cold and damp for his nightly "chores." Ah, the price of Doggy Daddyness... I'm sure it doesn't compare to "Gampa-ness" 'eh RAY?Thumbs Up

JEFF: I hope they get that tooth fixed-up quick for you. I suppose a string and the doorknob are always an option...

Yep, I'm getting "the look." So...time to yield the floor.

Evening, Chloe - how about a hot fudge sundae, please, with a D&RGW mug of coffee? Thanks!

Yeah Jim, I'm gonna keep playing. Hey, long as I get the ball it's all legal.

And so long as the refs don't spot you, Sawyer! Laugh And will that be redemption, or revenge? Evil

Jerry, I missed your post right before mine - that's a lot of coal loads there. Your mine foreman must be working the miners to the bone there! Wink

Jeff, sorry to hear of the delay on your molar pulling; would've been better if you could have rolled more of your appointments into the same day and save a trip. Ah, well. Sigh

Hi, ColesDad - and welcome (back) to the Diner (I have seen you in here before, right?).

Ray, it looks like your Olivia knows her way around the 'puter pretty well - how early did you start her on that? Yeah, I know how hard it is for you to endure your 'Gampa' duties, hee hee... And as for your earlier soccer days, it sounds like you haven't changed too much, eh? Smile,Wink, & Grin Thanks for giving me an idea - I've been having some problems with the 'sound out' jack on my laptop, so haven't used my Altec Lansing speaker set (subwoofer and two smaller tweeters) for a while. Think I may hook it up to the DVD player perhaps. Might drive the downstairs neighbor up the wall if I start it up on a Saturday morning, though.Whistling

Rob, I didn't recall hearing - do you know when you and your wife will have your CPAP machines and start getting better sleep at night? Soon, hopefully.Yeah!!

Lovely day here today, and it's still 57 F at quarter till 10 p.m.(!). More of this great weather tomorrow; now, so long as we don't wind up paying for it in February or so...

I'll check if Ray or Nik.n did any doodling on the RC placemats while I finish up my dessert and coffee. Prayers for good doctors' visits, MRR projects going well, unkicked shins, and a good rest of the week for you Diners. AngelAngel

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Ray, and that's why we have shin guards.

Shin guards.....  We didn't have no sissy shin guards....WinkWink  Of course we didn't have spikes on our shoes either........Whistling  I had developed a good move where I could take the ball away and get the opponent in one smooth move.  After I took out a couple of the kids on opposing teams they backed off from me, that's why he would come in and play opposite me.  Only got a penalty a couple of times..........Whistling

Cleaning out the store room I found an old computer speaker system that I was saving to recycle.  I had thought that the sub woofer on it was burned out and had bought a new one for the G5.  I was about ready to finally chuck it as our landfill will no longer take stuff like that for recycling and noticed that the sub woofer volume had been turned all the way off.  Took it down to the train room and hooked it up to the DVD player I have down there, and........  It works.  So now there is a good speaker system to use when I am playing some Dream, Plan, Build DVDs down there while w**king on the Railroad.

Ray, and that's why we have shin guards. I've chopped a couple guy's ankles this season, just a half-step behind them and so missed the ball and whacked their ankle. Got the penalty, but it wasn't intentional, so didn't get the yellow card.

 Evenin' folks!

Flo I'll have a chocolate brownie, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup and a dolup of whipped cream on top.  I'll go have a seat at the Rivet Counter.

Got a few things accomplished today but had a few interruptions as well.  My son called late this morning to say he was going to take his boat out on the lake and he would be over in a few minutes to pick it up if I was going to be home.  Later this evening there was a knock on the door and a certain young lady that I know and adore walked in. She made a bee line for the computer.....

I guess she wanted to send an email to mom who was taking little sister Emily to the doctor's office for a flu shot...

I suggested we get out Thomas to play.  She got very excited and said, "Gampa hurry!"  Thomas got put together, torn apart, put back together.  We ran both Thomas and Lady, had to fill up Thomas with water from the Water Tank (he was thirsty...).....  Then she ran off to pick on Manét and Blackie for a while.  They are still not quite sure what to make of her.  Blackie runs away after she pets him for a few seconds.  Manét will sit and let her pet him but tries to hide his head under the pillow.  I think they both have 2 year old girls pegged pretty good.

Grandpa had made some brownies (had to use the gas grill to bake them), so Olivia got a glass of milk and a brownie.  She is at the age where she is starting to understand more about family.  I told her that the little metal cup she was drinking from was her daddy's way back when he was her age.  She looked at it and gave me a big grin.  Yep, this Grandfather thing is really hard to take......Smile,Wink, & GrinWhen her Mom came to pick her up, she ran back to the table grabbed her brownie and then decided she didn't want to go home.  "No Mommy Stay at Gampa house!"  She finally gave me a big (wet) kiss and waved bye, bye....

Like i said, if I get the ball, it's all legal, haha.

Sawyer back when I was in High School (when dinosaurs ruled the Earth) I used to play intramural soccer (we didn't have interscholastic soccer).  If the opposing team was a player short, the coach would play on the other team alway opposite me (I was a fairly good and rough player).  My favorite thing was to "go for the ball", miss Wink, and nail him on the shins.....  He would end up on the ground holding his leg and screaming, "the ball, Howard!  Go for the ball!  Not me!".  I used to pay for it in gym class.....  It was worth it! Sawyer--I was a soccer coach for a number of years and I urge you to keep after the ball; hard tackles and confidence are a winning combination.  Getting demoralized is part of the game too, but getting over it while you can do something about it is what it takes to win.

Thanks. Like i said, if I get the ball, it's all legal, haha.

the thing that put the shot to the gut was our goalie made the first mistake he's made all season. Oh well, I think that's the first time we've just given up. We've got another game tomorrow; a chance for redemption, hehe

Sawyer, keep at it, as Mreagant said. It sounds like you have a good attitude about your playing, too (another good thing to have).

Yeah Jim, I'm gonna keep playing. Hey, long as I get the ball it's all legal.

I see you answered my post in another forum about using e-z track. I thouht i had noticed from some of your earlier pictures, that you used e-z track as well. But your more recent ones, it isn't as easy to notice. Thanks for your response. I am going ahead and using the e-z track I already have,

Glad to hear it. There's really nothing wrong with it as long as you're careful about putting it down. Contrary to popular belief (the belief of those who have never used it) it's not made to just be slapped together and thrown down. That's what Power-Loc track is for. All track systems require some degree of care to be assembled properly. EZ-Track is no different. One thing to watch for are sections that are bowed (ends are higher than the middle). These can cause unexplained uncouplings and derailments of of some larger locomotives. As for why my use of EZ-Track is somewhat hard to spot the answer is really very simple. I built the landscape up so it comes about halfway up the roadbed in most cases. In yard and spur areas it comes most or all the way up the roadbed. My use of fine ballast with a little medium ballast mixed in completes the deception and many people actually mistake it for for flex track on cork.

Stopped by for a quick coffee, Chloe, then off to work.  Two more weeks and we will get back to the layout.
