Good evening...
CN Charlie... Thanks for the well wishes and comments. I would be glad to talk with somebody at a cal center in Ontario. ... At Dell, it would have been easier to "press 2 for Spanish" I think instead of "press 1 for broken English". .......
Cal Tom .... I saw your photos of those fabulous steam locos in WPF. Terrific!
Ray ......... Your layout scenes look real. Bravo! ....... BTW, once I was a Cub Master.
Robby .... I saw your post in WPF....... looks great.
Jeff........You, too....... Keep up the good work........ Must have been a creepy looking snake! (Has anyone seen Edgar Alan Boa, lately?
Vincent ... I saw your photos in WPF, too. Nice!

Good Morning...
Zoe, I´ll have the Big Breakfast platter with all the works, but leave out the low cholesterol stuff, yes, and a hot and black coffee in my LKAB mug, please! For those who maybe don´t know this, LKAB or Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag is the company operating the mine in Kiruna/Sweden. Their daughter company MTAB or Malmtrafik Aktiebolag operate the famous ore trains to Narvik/Norway with powerful electrics!
My last day in freedom, it is sunny outside, but we expect the odd spell of rain - typical fall weather. I will go for a walk today and make some plans for the time after my recovery. Tomorrow at around 11 o´clock I have to call in to get ready for that masked guy who wants to cut me up - still a frightening thought.
Ray - those chocolate chippers look dang good! Just as good as Petra makes them (even better, but I cannot let her know!)
Jeff - are you sure it wasn´t a baby anaconda?
Y´ all have a good one!
Good morning all. Well, I was correct. Opened my eyes and GOLDARN it, its 4:13. Guess I'll go wake a rooster and have him start the day.
Ulrich- Best wishes and Blessings. Knowing the Old Diners, thats from all of us.

I went to LHS to pick up my back order of Yardmaster 40FT box cars yesterday; I noticed he had several PROTO 2000 locomotives sitting on the shelf behind the counter collecting dust. I talked him out of two GP7 locomotives for $59 each. Unfortunately they are Seaboard units in purple and silver, not a big problem since I plan to paint them yellow and black and put my own markings on them. Both locomotives are DCC ready, I also picked up the 12v 50ma bulbs needed for the conversion.

Football season's in full swing here. We spent last Saturday night in Gurard watching Mac's team play. Did a little rail fanning while we were there, but those pics are on film. I did get some interesting photo's on the way home. The first one are from where the NYC's Mattoon-Pana line crossed the start of the Little Wabash river east of Gay's, note the build dates in the last one. The 1921 was the NYC, the 1884 was built by the THA&StL RR
Also got a pic of a wind turbine at an old underground coal mine, east of Farmersville.

Hello
Today is our wedding anniversary, but it started with a sad phone call early. Our church friend, Diane, passed away at about 4:00 am. Her husband, Wayne had been at her side in the hospice for nearly two weeks. Their faith in the Lord has been inspirring to us and their faith remained steadfast throughout this ordeal.
Also, I would again like to extend prayers to Ulrich. I understand the apprehension about heart surgery having been through some heart operations myself. Keep your faith, Ulrich, and you will be healthy again.
I will dispatch the chapel car to the diner.

Good morning All..Its cloudy and 64 here..Just coffee for me..My son's girl Friend is making biscuits and Gravey...We are headed to the Pop corn festival in Casey this afternoon..Started to rebuild a used Walthers heljan turntable I picked up..The bridge is warped..I am going to try heating with a hair dryer but I think its a long shot to make it work I may have to just scrap it out and look for another..You all have a good week end...Jerry
Gerry, congrats, and sorry, all in one.
All,
OK, so my wife and I are driving down the hiway last evening during late rush hour. We're toolin' along about 70mph, and all of a sudden, the steering wheel tries to rip itself out of my hands and the whole right front of the van starts suddering and skaking like theres no tomorrow! I grab the wheel and start checking the mirrors. Ya know, it's usually not good when you know somethings wrong with your vehicle and you look around and notice that EVERYONE is moving away from you quickly! The van (a full sized custom van) is pulling hard to the left, so with my path now clear I guide it over to the inside break down lane on the left. Once stopped, I look under the front end and see that the tie rod end on the passenger side has busted clean off. $180 and an hour and a half later we've gotten towed home and it's time for a muscle relaxer pill as I've hurt a muscle on my right side fighting the wheel as it tried so hard to have it's own way at 70mph. So anyways, this morning I swung by the local Autozone and picked up a new tie rod end for a paltry $25. Now I just have to put it on.
Let me tell you what.......THAT was an attention getter!
Good Afternoon, Folks,
this will be my last visit for a while, so the drinks are all on me! Zoe, I have not had a RBF for a while, so I just take that...
PC - someone must be watching over you as well - maybe you and your family should stay away from cars a little while to give your guardian angel a rest... Thank god that you are not allowed to drive as fast as we do sometimes here in Germany. I remember it not to be funny to blow a tire while doing 140 mph... I needed all three lanes of the motorway to keep the car on the road until it came to a halt. No one got hurt, even the car (Porsche) just needed a new rim and tire...
I will try to do my best to report back at the earliest...
Whoo, glad to be back. How's it going guys?

Good mid morning all, sweet roll and coffee please. Partly to mostly cloudy toaday with a 30% chance of showers and isolated T-Storms. High of 79 F. Brenda went horse back riding again last night, well started to anyway. Her brothers, uh significant other of, well, forever, her horse got spooked from her grand daughter ’s flailing arms running towards te horse and started bucking like a rodeo and she was doing ok until the horse got under a tree limb and Vicky hit her head and was knocked out and thrown into the tree. She is home today after the eve and night in the hospital. Fractured vertebrae and a partial scalping from the tree branch, just an inch or two I guess. She’ll be good as new in about 6-8 weeks. She was lucky. Apparently the child had been making the horse visibly nervous for a few minutes. Why they didn’t get the kid out of there or tell her to stop I don’t know.
Speaking of ink washes, I think I’ll try one on the old UP box car today. I see Robby has done one although mine is a longer high cube, they look the same. I’ll wait till you forget what his looks like before I show mine!
Jim- I just used Testors copper enamel and a dry brushing of Polyscale Gimy black after the copper dried. The texture of the metal casting did the rest. Pre pitted and dented. The tubing that you can’t see is wire that was already a bit rusty in spots so it looked great without doing a thing.
Garry- Happy Anniversary!!!! And sorry to hear about your church friend the family is in my prayers for comfort. I’ve heard so many good things about Dell. But I see if you actually do have a problem, maybe they aren’t so great. I have a Sony VAIO I have never had trouble with it other than me and the one time I called the help line,( you’re right, I think it’s comical, they want to help you with your computer problems…..from your computer) I talked to someone who spoke better English than me. I. Me. Whatever
Saaaaay!! I see Ray brought in some cookies. Got any left? I’ll take some. It’s been a while since he brought in cookies.
CNCharlie- I agree on the price of some of the books out there. There are some I’d like to get too. But with the hobby budget as tight as it is anymore, I just can’t bring myself to spend money on things other than stuff for the layout.
Jeff- I know you know what all the poisonous snakes that live in the US look like. ( I know what your gonna say and believe me, I’m with you. Boa’s don’t live in the US either). Have you checked this critter out yet, or fed it to the mower. I’d be curious myself. Even if I had to take it to a Vet.
Lee- Gee whiz you’ve been comin on to some bargains here lately.
Inch- A hog nose was the first snake that came to mind for me too. ‘cept when he said striped like a garter I thought, well, maybe not. Sides, I figured he’d probably know one of those. ( ah, I see he does) Road trip? Sounds good but, of course that’s a bad weekend for me. I gotta cook for the Community Foundations bring back Autumn on the Boulevard fundraiser on Saturday and cleanups on Sunday. I think I’ll just hang on til The Great Train Expo comes to the State Fairgrounds in Springfield on the 17th and 18th of October. I don’t remember if that show is any good or not, but since it’s so close I’ll go anyway since I’m not involved in farming this year. Yet.
PC- WHEW!!! Sounds like something that would cause a person to have to use that clean pair of shorts in the glove box. Excellent driving and I’m glad that no one was hurt.
Ulrich- I hope you get to see this before you head off, You’re in my prayers and I’m sure you will be watched over.
What’s that? I hear a noise from the layout. I must check it out.
Have a Great Day!!

Folks, please allow me a stupid question: What is the meaning of the friendly couple depicted left to my screen name. I have always wanted to ask, but never did. Some of the posters do not have this...
Afternoon everyone!
Didn't get a chance to get in here this morning ..... My son showed up a few minutes after 10 this morning with #1 Daughter to do his Fantasy Foot ball draft. I of course got to entertain my granddaughter for the last 3 hours. I don't know who had more fun Olivia or Grandpa? My son brought the Thomas the Train set I bought last Christmas for her. She has two Thomas engines and one Lady plus one freight car. We put together the set and had fun running the engines almost everywhere except on the track.... Some photos soon. I made Olivia a toasted cheese sandwich for lunch and cut up an apple. She had one good bite of the sandwich, said it was good and did the same with a slice of apple, drank some milk, and it was off to play time riding around with grandpa being the horsey, getting into everything I have and chasing both the cats who haven't quite made up their minds about small humans yet...... Oh Olivia did eat 2 of the cookies that grandpa made last night.
Zoe just a RBF in honor of Ulrich. Please know again that you have a lot of prayers coming your way for a completely successful surgery and recovery. I am sure that when you post after the procedure, you will be feeling much stronger! Good luck!
I now have 3 hours less to get everything done today so.........

We'll get there sooner or later!
Hi everybody. Just a quick stop. Hope everybody is having a good weekend so far. I'm mainly doing some yard work, and cleaning.
I will pop back in later.
"Rust, whats not to love?"
OK, so I officially feel like an old man now! I got the tie rod end on the van, but man, am I feelin' it! One part was so rusted on that the two pieces of metal had basically become one. That was a major pain getting that apart! I got it though, and I did a lube job on the van while I was down there. Took it for a short test drive and it drives like a champ! Now that I've had a shower I'm really feeling those muscles. My wife, bless her heart, gave me one of her muscle relaxers and two of her pain pills (I don't like taking those because they are for her and she needs them, but today I'll make an exception!), so pretty soon I should be feeling MUCH better!
Sir Madog Philip - don´t know what your neighborhood is like - so taking the shoeleather express might be even more dangerous ---
Well, it's a nice neighborhood, but it's far enough out in the country that it'd take me a week to walk to work!
I've never seen anything like that, so I'm not gonna be much help there.

Sir MadogWhat is the meaning of the friendly couple depicted left to my screen name.
I'll take a guess as I've never paid attention to what they actually are. But could he be refering to the colored design depicting if a person is signed on or not? I could answer more surely but for some reason the things aren't showing up right now even for me. Sometimes they don't.
EDIT: Yes they are working now. Ulrich, the friendly couple shows when that person is logged onto the forum.
Evenin' folks!
Just taking a very need break from cleaning the house...... Flo I'll have a cup of decafe in a R&GV Museum Mug please and thank you.
I am paying now for playing with my 2 year old granddaughter this morning and early afternoon... My knees are not working, or should we say are working with a great deal of pain....... Guess I shouldn't have been the horsey for the rides. We did have a good time.
Notice Thomas set up on the floor and cookie in hand.... She likes my laptop computer too:
Hope it still runs next time I need it.
Ray, cute kid! What expressive eyes!

Jeff, did you get a picture of said snake? I know a few reptile fanatics; maybe one of them can Identify it.
Lee, he wouldn't happen to have any BN units in there?
Todd, the MIL comment is hilarious.
I got some books in the mail, and purchased some new engines.
The books are a 1972 Burlington Northern Annual, and "the Modovi Line."The latter was a CStPM&O line that ran from Mondovi to Fairchild Wisconson that some of my relavtives worked (and some helped build) for. So I do have some relation to the CN&W.
The engines I got are a P2K Gp9 1941, and a BN Bicentennial Atlas U30C that had a decoder installed. The plan with the U30C is to fit the Soundtraxx for a 2nd gen EMD I have into it and, and take the decoder from it and put it into my Bicentennial SD40-2. Then MU the both of them together; the sound will be in the U30C but it's for the dash 2 since I don't want to mess with trying to figure out what resistors to use for athearn's bulbs.
I just realized I forgot to come into the diner on my B-day. Was busy hanging out with friends.
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Evening all, Sawyer nice video.
Vincent, negative on the BN GP7 locomotives, I think he sold me these two Seacoast units because they just didn’t sell. There is a “thing” up here about “foreign” motive power and it just doesn’t sell very well. The top sellers up here are: NKP, Conrail, CN, CSX, W&LE, NW, NS, NYC, PRR, C&O, B&O, SOO, ALGOMA, and DT&I.
PackerJeff, did you get a picture of said snake? I know a few reptile fanatics; maybe one of them can Identify it.
Got the sister's grass cut today and it poured down rain tonight. We had quite a voilent string of thunderstorms go storms. My sister and I were with my niece and husband at a Mexican restaurant. We were out on a covered patio watching the storm and none of us could have cared less. It's just normal weather for this area.
Lee, Seems the only thing around here that sells is CSX, NS, Southern, UP, BNSF, and ATSF. Strange on everything except the CSX, none of them are really local roads. BN was after it bought the SLSF.
Wonder if the shop in P'cola that has the BN GP20 has lowered the price on it. It's been sitting on the shelf for almost 3 years now at full MSRP..... Strange that they all have a bunch of GN engines that don't sell but they keep the prices up for a long time.

Evenin, Sat down to watch the movie on Sci Fi or Scy Fy I guess it is now. ( don't like that or understand why) promptly fell asleep. Missed the whole thing. I don't even remember the opening credits.
Got to spend most the day working on the railroad and hopefully the same tomorrow. Is gently raining off and on so no outside stuff.
Ray- I thought sometimes your posts made more sense than other times!! Maybe you should let her post more often. I think I see a lot of Grandpa in those eyes.
Barry- That broke down tractor would look great behind the Pizza/Bait/Gas/Repair shop. Have saved a picture for when I run across an appropriate tractor. Love the elevator picks. Especially the one where it shows the old elevator and the way it has expanded into the huge modern one it is today. Around here we mostly have Hagie's above the crop sprayers with of course the mandatory John Deere or two floating around. The Ag Center does use TerraGators for spreading and spraying. (before and after crop of course. Farmers might get a bit upset)
Vincent- A belated
Sawyer- Nice video but it ended before I was ready. Looking forward to more.
Well time to hit the sack.
