Evenin' Folks!

I sure didn't get a lot of w**k done today but It was a fun day....  Got to hang around with my granddaughter for about 3 hours.  My son had to pick up his wife's car which got a scraped bumper in the parking lot where she works.  We all rode out to the repair place together and then I drove Art's car and my granddaughter back to Geneva.  As soon as we got bvack to my house, Art had to hook onto his boat trailer to take it down and get it inspected.  I got to go along and watch the granddaughter...... Big Smile  Later i had to go over to my son's house and babysit the granddaughter for about an hour as my son had to go to w**k.  My DIL arrived home from her job after picking up my other granddaughter at day care.....  So I got to see both of them. Big SmileBig Smile  The oldest has got pinkeye so she was kept home today.

Split and stacked a couple more wheelbarow loads of wood this evening.  I should get just about 2 face cords of wood out of what I was given.  That is about 1/4 of the wood I need for the Winter.  I may just go out and buy 6 more face cords from one of the tree surgeons  in the area.  I'll check out the possibilities  next week.  I may be able to get a deal on some wood they wouldn't usually sell that hasn't been split.......

JimRCGMO
Ray, maybe if you sweet-talk and bribe DerJohn, he'll figure out the directions for you for building one...Whistling

Jim, I have been thinking that it would make a fairly easy scratch build if I can get a bunch of photos and measure one of them.  Going to have to do some asking around to see who knows somebody who might know someone who knows someone who has one.......Whistling  If I had the space and the funding, I could get into antique tractors very easily.

Rob it doesn't make a bit of difference with an incandescent bulb whether it is powered with AC or DC.  Advantage to DC on an old power pack would be that you can turn the power down from 12 volt to 9 or 10 volts.  The bulbs will last much longer if you power them below  the rated voltage.  I think they often look better as well.

Flo I'll have a cup of decafe and a big hunk of that Birthday Cake that Garry brought with him with a scoop of vanilla ice cream beside it.  Thanks.  I'll go joing Barry at the rivet counter.

Ray: If you had the space---I think the both of us---we need to buy a farm---or twoWhistling I started to muck around doing some casting of parts for a couple of N scale trucks---if I get good enough at this maybe----?Confused Oh, Karl told me the steam tractor that I seen on this farm was built from a bunch of parts left from a BEST tractor (had a vertical boiler yet--) and an Avery. The fellow who cobbled this together did this in 1933 and had it until Karl bought it in 1974. He used it mostly for threshing and as a stump puller---

Evening all. RBF and a sliceof marble cake for me. Today's been rather busy, did some sanding on the new fender and bumper for my car and pressure washed the house. Unfortunately halfway through the pressure-washing the hose hit the muffler and melted, spraying a high-pressure mix of chlorine and water everywhere. Luckily I was far enough away not to get wet. Also made a bunch of progress on the MR front.

I managed to put 2 of my u-boats back together, and put a wash on the U33C.

I took a shot at weathering some cars with washes as well:

Also weathered one of my SD45s after putting the beacon back on:

Personally I think the front sill of the SD45 came out really well.

Garry, happy B-day.

Jeff, like how the wheels came out. How'd you do them?

Ulrich, hope all goes well and for a speedy recovery.

Vincent

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Good Evening Diners.  Dessert please Chloe; I'll finish up the fresh fruit salad with the added wild blackberries. I think there's some custard left over too, and a small scoop of the nsa vanilla ice-cream will sweeten the whole thing very nicely. Tea to wash it down would be good, thanks.

Haven't been in since page 12, but have kept up by peeking in the window. Garry, and Happy Retirement LeeLuc, good to see you dropped in again, thanks for the emails!  Ulrich, you are in our prayers for the surgery, and economic recovery.Angel

Robbie and Ray, your weathering and scenery continue to amaze and inspire, ditto Jeff - don't know how you get so much done, and those clouds are a great addition to the new backdrop!

Todd: Took the liberty of playing about a bit with the still scene photos, to get to see the weathering better. The copper piping is exceptional!

The tar trailer is coming along, but slowed down a whole lot as I dropped the thing on the floor and it has taken a while to repair.

I decided to make the mud guards( I hesitate to call them fenders, for me those belong on cars!) before the propane tanks (BTW, Jeff if you want more of those N tank cars to modify, I have one or two). Making them took me back to Micro-Models from my school days - and yes, they did steam locos in what would be about Z scale, all from printed card stock! Here's a blow-by-blow of the mud guard construction. Layout the design on card

Cut the shapes   Roll the ends to get the right curve. I used a mini file handle for this.

Score the fold, and glue the curved ends to the back-piece   Todd, my point and shoot set on close-up focuses on the strongest point of focus in the shot. I had the rule behind the piece I was holding up, so that's why these last two photos are out of focus, even though the little green square said the focus was fine!

Test fit the mud-guard. I found I needed to mount a strip of scale 2x3 along the rear of the back-piece in order to have something to glue the mud guard to the frame.   Here they are installed and painted

The rear view was lacking something, so I added spray flaps. The lighting wasn't the best, and no amount of fiddling brought it up in MS Photoeditor.

Then ARRGHH!I dropped the darned thing - but besides the repair, I have made the propane tanks. Shoe tree rod, as I indicated a while ago, trimmed around top and base, sanded; then two different diameter rings of paper for the stand and the valve protector.    Painted up, acrylic silver by Grumbacher (I've had that since the late 80s and the tube is still more than ¾ full!) mixed with a little black. That's a mix I've been using since doing medieval armour models as a kid!  I threw on an extra light for this shot, I think it helped.

The weather has been far too good to be indoors in the daytime, so much yard work is being done, as well as outside house maintenance. That's another reason for the slow mrr progress. Bedtime again now, and so I'll say Goodnight, and God Bless. Prayers continuing for all those in need of healing, comfort, peace and prosperity. Angel

A large Cocoa, please.

***Garry, better wish you a  HAPPY BIRTHDAY  now, before I forget.

***Jim, interestingly enough, the wife DID ask me if any of her kits were snap-together (implying she could do those). I only wish they were.Laugh Room for improvement at the easel. As for the critters, see my last paragraph.

***Ray, thanks for the info/reminder on the lights. Do those smoke units that come with older Model Power kits run on variable DC also?

***Vincent, I agree with you on that SD45. Nice job!

***Der, you are a master of inginuity. Those propane tanks will really set off the tar trailer. Incidently, my wife was just asking me today about adding a Still to her layout. I borrowed one of your images to put on the desktop for her to see tomorrow.

Our oldest mare, Sandy, is really going down hill fast now. Instead of months, I'm not sure she even has weeks left. I cannot share how much I dread the inevitable day we'll have to make the call. It is approaching rapidly. Nuff said.Sad  Heading down to the barn in a few, to check on the old herd patriarch.

Good night all.

 Good Morning,

Zoe, I shouldn´t be doing this, but I have some coffee in an LKAB mug.

GarryHappy B-Day, - I ´ll come to see you in the afternoon to Dinner of your birthday cake!

I can´t say that I am feeling really comfortable with what is lying ahead of me. My doc says, I shouldn´t worry, it is just a routine job nowadays, but that is exactly what makes me worry! Routine easily leads to carelessness and although the Hamburg University Hospital has an excellent reputation for cardiac surgery, I don´t find a comforting thought in that. My wife is already getting mad at me being so edgy...

There are a number of things I have to arrange for before going into hospital, like updating my last will, stuff like that.

Somebody will be watching over me!

God bless you all!

I simply painted them with a rust Floquil paint pen. The same goes for the trucks except the color is rail tie brown.

 Happy birthday Garry!

Good morning.

It's 71 and cloudy. The high will be around 88 and there's a chance of rain.

Looks like I'll be mowing the parent's grass this morning. I was intending to do it over the weekend but the weather guesser says it's gonna be WET. So I had to move the schedule up. I have to get it done now because after the 8th I won't be able to do such things for a couple of weeks. Yesterday I went looking for more Krylon Matte Finish but couldn't find it. So I went over to Lowe's to see what they had. I got a can of Valspar Clear Flat and decided to give it a try. I found that it has a better coverage than the Matte Finish and is more uniform. I think I'll be using this stuff now. I did find that it has to be used in a very well ventilated area (no problem for me since I do the spraying outside) as it has quite a strong odor. I haven't seen any ill effects on the model I sprayed it on. No peeling paint or lettering or warped plastic. This weekend I'll be working on weathering a Bachmann Boise Cascade all-door box car and it will get the Clear Flat treatment.

Good morning.  Its FRIDAY, well for some its the last day of work.  I have one more night to go.

I was on my way to work last night (2:30am), and seen flashing lights on the highway (other side of the highway).  Cop cars, fire trucks, etc was at a exit.  To find out a motorcycle hit the back of a piggy back 18-wheeler.  The mototrcycle driver died at the scene.   So everybody with cycles becareful!!!!!!!

I sold the BN boxcar yesterday, and I have three more to do this weekend.  I might get one done today, and post it later.  Gotta go by the bank and deposit my check *clears throat*.......allowance.   Doctors, lawyers, sport players makes paychecks Big Smile.

My wife also told me two months ahead that, my b-day gift might be a trip to "horseshoe curve" in October.  We would take a Amtrack, and spend the day.   She said she would like to take me in Oct. when the leaves are changing.   Even thou my b-day is in November, I thought that was nice.

Garry......Sorry for the late b-day Mischief.

Der.....TWO THUMBS UP Thumbs Up  Thumbs Up.   Could I do that?   NO!!!   I don't have the patience for anything like that.  Then my wife says, I have no patience at all.

Mornin' all!

Woke up this morning to low 60's, and lots of dew on the cars.  It's supposed to get up near 80 today and sunny, so it should be pretty nice out.

Well, some of you may recall that my daughter recently got in a little car accident.  Seems someone ran a red light and she T-boned 'em.  Her car was a complete waste (http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j319/pcarrell/850A0028.jpg), so the insurance company totaled it.  They gave us a fair settlement though, so I can't complain.  They offered us about what I think I could've gotten for the car on the open market before the crash, so I'm good with it.  Anyways, the airbags went off and my daughter was fine other then a sprained ankle.  So, for the last week I've been carting her to college and back every day, and that makes the schedule tough.  Well last night I found a car for her at a good price, so I bought it and took it home to her.  She's pretty stoked about her new Camaro!

(There's morning dew on the car in these pics)

Not too bad for 2k, huh?  It has a V6 and automatic with A/C.  It has 148k on it, but it looks pretty well taken care of.

So, whats up with you all?

Oh, and Gerry...........

Mornin, Scrambled eggs sausage and hash browns please. No make that home fries. Yup, coffee too thank you. What's that Zoe? (whisper whisper) OH! Sorry Garry I had the wrong day a few ago, Happy Birthday!

60 now supposed to get to 80 with partly cloudy skies. Maybe you may have noticed that I'm a bit partial to warmer weather but I have to admit it sure is nice to not have to run the air conditioner. Adds to the excess (ha ha ) at the end of the month for the modeling funds.

Farm show was great this year again. Boy you think 1/87 John Deere stuff is expensive, you oughta check out the 1:1stuff. If Ray remembers what some of them old ones cost he probably couldn't get his jaw off the ground for a week! $350,000 for a drillShock. (like a planter for those who don't know. Other than spacing, I have yet to figure out the difference. But call a Drill a Planter and they‘ll sure correct you. Town folk.)

Thanks for the comments on the still. I was glad to see others had it also. I liked the way you modified yours Ray, I thought about it but decided to keep it in the "oasis" configuration and fill trees around it. Super thanks DerJohn! I never thought I'd hear exceptional used in reference to something I've done! Don't worry, no big head. I'm chalking it up to luck. Anyway as I said before, hopefully without sounding like our friend Al, (OK, Vinnie, I won't say that name again. What? I owe for the page and the next two? Just for that!? Yeesh!) anyway, I am proud of the way it turned out. I'm disappointed in the picture because it is horrible and doesn't show hardly anything. I really would like to get a new camera, for more than just layout pics of course, but the wife has been complaining about the big screen TV in the basement and how you can't hardly see the picture anymore (old, real old. It has served well though) so it looks like a new LCD is in line before the K2000. Wait! I have some grain left. She's riding a horse in the Labor Day parade in Edinburgh (don't ask how she got involved on that) she'll want pictures, Hmmmm. Possible, but I doubt it because then I'd for sure have to buy the TV for our Anniversary on the 7th.

Robby- I chuckled when someone said it was the dog that was getting the snip. I thought that kinda went against the objective you have.

Jim- I gather you're not a real big Monty Python fan. Not everyone appreciates British humor, especially silly British humor, ("tis a silly show"). But I challenge anyone to not at least chuckle at the Hell's Grannies sketch or the classic dead parrot sketch.Laugh

Jeff- Ditto on the weathering comments. 3 meals for ten bucks. You can't beat that with a stick! I hope this fixes your internet woes. It's a good thing however you noticed your hands in time or it may have been much worse. I'm sure you checked your face for burns by now........, and your britches.

What's that Flo? Yes his pants especially the seat. We are men you know.

Barry- I don't want to be the guy who has to hang on to the engine! Wow!

Lee- Congratulations on the retirement! I think I got it right this time.

Ulrich- You are right, someone will be watching over you. Also there will be all of us in the virtual waiting room. It's understandable you are nervous, but as they said you're in good hands.

DerJohn- Tar trailer is outstanding! Looks very much like a real one. If only one could model dented fenders. Whistling

After viewing the tractor videos I strayed a bit and located this. It strongly resembles the first "big" tractor I drove. Of course it was covered in grain dust and back then I never new what it was other than JD, but this sure looks like it. I don't however remember pushing the lever forward to get it to move. I recall a foot clutch. So long ago I couldn't say for positive .... who knows. I do recall the fenders, wheel configuration grill, gages, steering shaft and the seat style. Like I said I do not recall the lever. The other ones and even the pattern cutouts, yes, but that one lever no. Maybe it was a different model or possibly year. This is the one we shared the driving on sometimes. One in the seat, the other standing leaning on the fender.

EDIT: Ya know on looking at that video again. I believe it was different. I don't recall the big flywheel on the left side, and I recall more of a floor we stood on but it is possible we just stood on the axle. It doesn't seem right though. The over all look in right, just some details are making me wonder. Oh well, it's been over 40 years ago and I've slept at least twice since then.

Have a Great Day!!

Thanks very much for the Birthday wishes, everybody!  It means a lot to me.

I spent time for a "sanity break" in the model train room late last night. There is too much stuff going on.

In the middle of some major stuff, computers are driving me crazy too.

Believe it or not, Shellye's new Dell net-book computer is already on the fritz. It started giving error messages when Shelley was on it shortly after my last email to you. Now it will not operate. It worked well for one day only, and now it will not operate.

I spent an hour or two with a total of three "Bombay Bobs" at Dell's technical support trying to resolve.  The computer needs to have its OS (UBUNTU) eistalled. However, the little thing has no CD drive. We would have to buy an external drive for $100. We do not want to do that. We do not know of one we can borrow either. Alternatively, we can send it to a Dell service center, and wait for them to re-install.

We're mad at Dell now. I tried to call their customer service later last night, but they were not open for phone calls. I could have contacted by comoueter, however. I'll call them today.

It took a month for Dell to deliever its special order computer. The "made in China" label mThat way, I can spend more of my time doing non-mrr stuff. ay be a clue about the extended delivery time.

I'm glad this SOny laptop is working OK. Enough of that stuff. End of rant.

Below is a picure of my loads of tractors passing the farm with 2 more tractors. One of the tractors in the background has a seed spreader, and that one tractor is behind a pole. I used the little camera, and teh imae is not as clear as I like.

Ulrich.... praying for your surgery and recovery to good health.

Mornin' everyone!

Flo I'll have Eggs Benedict this morning and a cup of dark roast in a FGLK mug.  Please and Thank you!

'nuther nice day here in the Finger Lakes!  Currently 69°F.  Forcast calls for "Abundant sunshine with a high of 76°F".

Todd, I believe that the John Deere used the hand clutch right up to the end of the 2 cylinder models.  The newer type had the catapillar engine (6 cylinder) and went to the foot clutch.  The sound of the old 2 cylinder putt putts was unmistakable.  The big flywheel on the left side is the engine flywheel.  That was where you started the early models.  It had finger holds on the inside and was quite easy to use.  Later that flywheel was fitted with cogs to fit an electric starter.  BTW, my still was modified to be able to fit it into the space without having to call a contractor to rearrange the landscape.....WhistlingLaugh

DerJohn great work on the tar trailer!!! Bow

Ulrich I can understand being uneasy about the operation, I would be terrified!  But I know you will come through it with flying colors and the fact that it is "routine" also means that it is very safe.  You will be in my prayers!

So Robby, is the dog barking in soprano now???

Oh.... Philip, nice wheels for your daughter.  Hope it serves her well.  I take it the police decided that she was not the cause of the accident?  That is a good thing!  Glad she has recovered as well.

I have to get moving as the wood pile needs to be finished, the lawn needs to be mowed, the house needs to be cleaned........

Ryan... Yes, computer issues are really troublesome....I have lost all respect for Dell Computer Company. I spent more time on the phone again today. I asked for a US office, but today it was two more "Bombay Bos" plus two "Bombay Betty's". Dell is not living up to its warrantee committments.

Robby ...UP boxcar looks good.

Der John....Amazing tar wagon. N scale! Wow!

Jeff...Looks like the tank car got sprayed. Keep it way from those grafiti "artists"....

Just saw a strange snake. Wedge head and stubby body like a viper and striping like a garter snake and body color like a moccasin and flared neck like a cobra. No fangs that I could see but the neighbors and I weren't taking any chances. It got fed a bullet.

Iced Coffee, please.

***Jeffrey, you could have become rich & famous off the discovery of the first poisonous-constrictor-hybrid snake in your part of the country. It could have been named after you, "The Winberly Pit Constrictor".Whistling

For the entire drive home from the marble/gravel plant, my wife talked about ideas for her layout, including names for all the businesses in town. Needless to say, I was pretty entertained. Although, with some of those ideas comes more work for "you know who". Still, it's worth being married to someone this much into model trains.Big Smile

Not sure if I mentioned this, but I tested the smoke unit and it works fine. So, my volcano will be "venting", when I get around to building it.

Time for evening critter rounds here. Have a good night all.

Snake could have come from Fort Polk trooper that had been "over there".

Good Evening, Chloe, Flo - if there's any of Garry's cake left, I'd love a slice of that with a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top, and a Rio Grande mug of coffee, too. Thanks! Dinner

DerJohn, more amazing detail on that tar trailer! BowThumbs Up I've saved the photos and directions to my 'Tar Trailer' folder (of course!)...

Vincent, you and Jeff talking about the ink and alcohol washes reminded me of a question I wanted to ask in here. After I got done stripping my gondola with my alcohol, the alcohol was a dark color (maybe has some paint or something in it? suspended?). I'm wondering if that would be usable for a dark wash in weathering, or if not, what's good for straining out whatever has the color dark? Anyone who can advise me there? Thanks in advance...

And also, Jeff, saw your answer to Vincent (so my question got answered). Thanks! I have one set of those Floquil pens, but will need to look - if I have the right set (with the rust), I'll try doing some wheels this weekend. Smile Will be keeping you in mind and AngelAngel for your foot surgery. Hmm, that snake sounds weird, all right (and I wouldn't even think about getting anywhere closer than you did - about rifle range). I think Flip's idea might be a possibility - or else something escaped from the traveling snake show as they were going through town...

Ulrich, I'll agree with Garry and the others - we'll be in the virtual waiting room for you and with you for your recovery.

Rob, sorry to hear about Sandy - the past couple/three weeks have been tough for several Diners' four-footed friends. Will add Sandy to my Angel list. Maybe you could give your wife lessons on how to glue together a DPM kit or a Model Power one? Let her get started, and who knows? She might get to really enjoy kits. Yeah!!

Phillip, that Camaro looks great (and that probably is a good color for the ladies, I'd guess)- I bet she'll love it (or already does!). A good price for that, too. Thumbs Up

Todd - what color(s) did you use for the copper/brass on your still? A mix, or one color? Thanks. Smile Yeah, that's a bit pricey - for a Planter OR for a Drill, either one! Wow!!Shock Let's see, for that much, PC could've bought Camaros for ALL us DIners, I think...Smile,Wink, & Grin Hey, I like Monty Python, just haven't seen that many of the sketches (but I have seen the dead parrot one Laugh). Actually, I got introduced to M.P. at the church I used to attend, as they used clips from a few of their movies in some message illustrations (I think the associate pastor, maybe more, like Monty Python). Hey, now that you mentioned dents in the fenders, I expect DerJohn will show us how to do those, too. Whistling

Ray, on Ryan's comments about your Scouting service and the song and all with the letters there...

Garry, I don't blame you for being a tad, wee bit upset and peeved about how Dell is (NOT) treating you... (to understate just a bit).Wow!! You went Linux?

Flip - were you a doctor or medic in a previous life, maybe? Wink

For those near one, H-L has their 40 percent off coupon this week on the website, but the whole MRR/diorama category is 30 percent off. So I might pick up another set of those Floquil markers and some other colors of spray paint, as well as some fine point Sharpie pens.

Well, tomorrow is payday (Yay!), so need to figure what needs getting paid. I asked, and my LHS owner/MRR club member does have another NMRA track guage - so that will ensure that after I buy it from him, my other one will show up, right? Definitely need to fill the car's gas tank (and glad it only holds 15 gallons), do laundry and see if the new MR mag is in my p.o. box. Also see about the rent, storage shed fee, get some groceries, and hopefully will have some left after church for sticking into savings. Need to get back to that.

I'll sit a bit longer at the RC here and figure who and what gets paid tomorrow (and afterward). Flo, could you bring me another placemat, please? Thank you.

Blessings and prayers,

Jim in Cape Girardeau

Evenin' folks!

JimRCGMO
Ray, on Ryan's comments about your Scouting service and the song and all with the letters there...

Well, well, well...  So Jim and Ryan are my brothers in the order!  How about that.  I didn't do OA until I was an adult as I wasn't a Scout when I was a teen.  I was heavily involved with 4-H as a farm boy instead.  I got sucked into involved with Scouting when my sons got involved in Cub Scouts well over 30 years ago.  I was on the pack committee for a few years until mu oldest became a Webelos.  No one would take the position on Webelos den leader in the pack.  Somebody a couple houses down from where I lived who was a den leader hit me with a 2x4 with a railroad spike in it and told me it was only an hour a week........... WhistlingLaugh  Well my oldest son will be 42 next month and here I am still in Scouting.  I have been a Commissioner both at camp and with units, Scoutmaster, Committee Chair, District Camping Chair, Council BS Camping Chair, Woodbadge Staff, On 2 different occasions I have been a Boy Scout Camp Director, Chartered Partner Representative, and the list goes on......  I figure why should kids have all the fun! Smile,Wink, & Grin  Thank you both of you!  How far did you guys get in The Brotherhood of Cheerful Service?

Managed to accompilsh a bit of stuff today.  Finished the woodpile (ended up with 2 facecords), got half of the lawn mowed, and baked several dozen of these:

(Help yourself!)

Also got a few things put away.  Tomorrow my son and an old High School and Scouting buddy of his will be over to use my computers for their Fantasy Football Draft.  I will be picking up and cleaning house for the company on Sunday will they are playing with the computers.   I need about 3 more days to get ready for the guests!  When people come to my house I usually say as they walk in, "pardon the mess.  It doesn't usually look like this.  Usually it is a lot worse!"  frankly when I die I really don't care if anyone gets up at my Memorial Service and says, "I knew Ray well......  He was such a good house keeper!"  But I don't really want to have this guys wife get grossed out either, if you catch my drift.  So tomorrow will be spent cleaning and finishing up the lawn!

Have a greast night and prayers to all in need!

Cape Jim- Not to my knowledge. But then , if it was in a previous life, would I remember? And if I had been, would I have healed or made things worse?

Haven't done a thing with trains- Not even turned on the power in eight or more months. Its two hours past my normalQuestion work day bedtime but I'll bet I'll stilll be up at 4:30 even tho I'm off.

Goodnight all, Flip

Good Evening Fellow Late Night Diners,

First of all I think there is a little mis-understanding going on who got the snip. Robby is our esteemed fellow diner who does amazing things weathering. Robbie is a 6 month old West Highland terrier who is the one who got the "snip". I'll call him Robin in the future to avoid confusion and anyway that is the name my wife gave him. I call him Robbie as Robin seemed a little wimpy but I guess now it is appropriate, sorry about that Robin but your Mum didn't want you to get any testoserone. She didn't want you lifting your leg on her plants or getting aggressive. Something about men causing all the wars and fighting all the time.

Garry, a happy birthday to you and sorry to hear of your computer woes. If you are ever in the market for another and want one with support from people here, I can recommend a Fujitsu. You can actually understand when they talk to you at their call centre as it is in eastern Ontario which I guess means it is a foreign country for you but hey, the accent isn't that bad. They are open 24/7 which was a good thing for me as we had a lot of trouble with Vista, it being the new system when we bought the computer a couple of years ago. Plus the longest I ever had to wait for someone to answer was about 6 rings. Fujitsu computers are the only ones still built in Japan. Okay,. sales plug over and I'm not even on commission.

Der, that is really amazing work on the tar trailer. Here I was thinking I was doing well getting MT couplers on a couple of cars. You sure do set the bar high.

Hope to get to the LHS tomorrow as there is a book they have that I want to buy. It is rather thin for $26 but I bet the print run was short and I know it is out of print. It is a book on steam photos by Lawrence Stuckey who was a photographer here in Manitoba and also a CP fireman. He has detailed information on each photo and it is great to read something written by someone who actually worked many of the engines he photographed. Might see if there is anything else that needs a new home.

Well Pippa is here to tell me it is time to go to bed. She can't jump up by herself anymore so needs me to give her a boost. Old age is a bummer.
