ROB,, you n the wife get to the doc's period, no arguing bout it, just go.

Good morning.  Well a thunder storm came through last night about 2:00am or so, and calling for them on and a off today.

Well I gotta make another trip to the LHS.  That boxcar car I did yesterday sold, in a few hours.  Its going to Australia.   I would change it up a bit, and do a different car......BUT, boxcars seem to be the hottest thing right now.

Other than that, not much planned.

 Everybody have a good day.

Coffee, lot's of coffee. I'm glad PC's feeling spry this morning, he must have slid the snoozey's off to me though.

Jim- nope, no beanoLaugh. She's happy the dryers back up and running. Unfortunately I decided to take the ductwork apart and clean it. Without checking to see if I had any duck tapeBanged Head( I always have duct tape). I picked some up last night on the way out of Springfield so she'll be back domesticatin' today. I can't believe I didn't have any duck tape. Maybe I gave it to Inch for the young-uns and forgot.Whistling

Sawyer- Good call on making the isle wider. Remember you're not just going to stand in that isle to run trains and get the occasional (hopefully) derail or switch a turnout. You'll be building half the layout from that isle. Laying track, scenery, all sorts of stuff and think of climbing out every time you need to switch the turns on the other side of the layout.

Robby- Another excellent job. I haven't been on the bay lately, did the lightly weathered car do well? I would think a mix of levels of weathering would be nice. Oh, I see you've answered that while I was typing. Good luck on the interview, is it this Wednesday as in tomorrow? Or next Wednesday as in a week from tomorrow. "Greeting" kids? Sounds more like Kindergarten Cop to me. Wear shin guardsLaugh

Ryan- Congrats on the rebirth of the work bench in the garage. I also must find mine every 6 months or so. It is next to the back door so it is a convenient flat spot. Eventually I find myself working in a tiny little spot if I can find that. I need to clean it off now come to think of it.

Ray- Great pictures. (Well, they're good too but I really mean the subject matter). If I had to choose I'd pick the second picture. Something about the scene draws me to it.

I know it wasn't a contest Zoe, and I did like them both, I was just sayin'...... oh never mind. Women.Grumpy

Rob- I'm glad your "problem" purchase came out good. It looks like your wife got lucky huh. Is she running steam era? (or does it matter Wink) I don't remember. I remember she was working on the circus/carnival.

Jerry- Hope today is better!Angel

Could I have a refill please Zoe?... Zoe? Oh great she's ignoring me. What'd I say now.Sigh

Have a Great Day!

Good Morning All,

We had a bit of the thunderstorm Robbie sent us and a steady rain since. Good job on the freight car Robbie and yeah go with the stuff that "moves" for now unsold inventory is just a drag on turnover. We had a friend stop by at Pittsburgh from Oz on his way to Goodwood for the vintage meet there so I guess our friends to the south are holding their own in these times of economic turmoil.

Inch - good to see you stop in - it's a bit too early for the Irish type of coffee for me but I'll join you with my usual at the RC. Sounds like you've been too busy for train chasin' or photos but I hope all is well with you and yours.

PC - our prayers for your son. Those invisible storms can also mess up your day, no? We lucked out during the last weekend as it only really rained after we were done on track.

Ray - nice work! Loads to look at and nice details but not overdone as some are. Know all about the dry rot as we have a lifetimes work at the Danbury museum for similar reasons. When we were doing track work last year a lot of the spikes in the yard could be pulled by hand as the ties were up to a century old. Those old line yankees on the New Haven really knew how to strech a buck and give back change!

Well, the coffee was good but I gotta go - loads to do in the shop again before we leave for Nova Scotia Thursday. Catch y'all later.  J.R.

Todd..............The lightly weathered car, is still on "the bay".  A few watchers, but that doesn't mean anything.  One car awhile back I had 19 watchers, and no other bids.  Oh......Then the guy asked if I had "The Rock" boxcar still for sale, and I said "no, but I could do one for you".  So, maybe that will be a extra buck or two.  Plus I have a eBay fee mounting up Banged Head.

The interview for the elementary job is next Wednesday 22nd.  I do have a interview at another job tomorrow, but its through a temp service Dead.  Its for "solar panels".  A company from Germany I believe has a factory here making them.  They just got a loan/grant for $7.5 million dollars for the "panels", and a new warehouse.  So maybe that job will workout.

If not, at least I'm making something on "the bay".

Good morning.

It's 73 and partly cloudy. The high will be around 87 and there's a chance of rain.

Got the parent's yard mowed yesterday with just a slight interuption. I cut the tractor off to take a short break. When I went back to start it, no luck. It wouldn't start. Seemed as though it was vapor locked. I couldn't find any starting fluid and I learned the hard way years ago about pouring even a little gas into a hot carb. Air freshener makes a great substitute. The engine fired right up and I was back at work. I also reminded my sister that we were out of chlorine for the pool so she made sure she got more. Trouble is she didn't have her son bring it down yesterday so I had to pick it up and carry it down here this morning. That drum is pretty hefty! Not sure what I'll be doing today. Just roused my mother from bed and I have her breakfast ready for her. She just has to get out her to the library to enjoy it while she watches the her daily depressing news channels, Fox and CNN.

Morning folks!

I'll have some hot green tea and a whole wheat toast with peanut butter please....thanks Chloe! Dinner

Hey PC....dried off yet? Glad to hear the dragging has disapated....Funny about rain huh...I watered my garden on Sunday and don't cha know it rains 1" late Sunday night early Monday morning, and then another 1" Monday afternoon... go figure!

But hey, the high yesterday was in the mid 70's...we are loving this July of mild temps. CoolYeah!!

Hey Robby, looking forward to learning from the master weatherer...Big Smile And good luck with the job searches. But I still think you should continue with your modeling talent and leverage that into some fulltime fun and income too!

Like the scenery work Ray! Thumbs Up

Got that right Todd, seems like any flat place near the inside of a door becomes the catch all location. Just like the Ribbit Counter here in the Diner....catching all the folks who come through the doors....Smile,Wink, & Grin

We went to Fredricksburg, VA last weekend to attend the wedding of Monique's best friends daughter. It was an event for Americans Funniest Videos for sure. The ceremony was 35 minutes late getting started because the grooms mom showed up with wet hair and had to get it made up with no appointment with the on-site hair dresser. Then just after the exchange of the vows and rings one of the grooms men faints. But this was not your regular fainting spell, he was out for the count, eyes were dialated, he was having tremors and shaking, and his skin was turning yellow. Apparently he stopped breathing for a short time too. They called 911 and in about 7 minutes the EMT's were on site at the alter giving assistance. After taking is jacket off and drinking some water and about 20 minutes or so he was able to amble off to another room for more attention, eventually he was taken to the hospital for evaluation. Turns out he has had a few of these spells the past month or so and tests have not found anything. The ceremony continued and after 2 1/2 hours the couple were wed. The reception was uneventful! Laugh

You all have a great day!

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I think I'd like a short stack of buttermilk pancakes this morning with some dark NYS Maple Syrup, side of bacon, and lots of dark roast coffee in a FGLK mug.

Thank you to all for your kind words on the Ice House Pond scene. It is one of my favorite spots on the layout.

Last night I did some ballasting of the track right above the end of the Yard Lead.  I need to get that done so I can finish the scenery (forest) on the mountainside.  That will provide a good backdrop for photos of the area (requirement for the Scenery Certificate).  If all is well, I will clean up the stray "pebbles" and get the forest started today. Found I never installed all the line poles that I intended so I hope to w**k on them today.  I cut and stained the poles last night (1/8" dowel rod).

Ryan that sounds like a wedding to remember all right.  Makes for great family stories to be passed down to the grandkids many years from now....

Ah breakfast is here, so I'll mosey on over to the Rivet Counter and chat with Barry for a while.

 Good Morning Guys,

Zoe, just a glass of orange juice for me, without ice, please. I have to be easy on the coffee for some time.

Spent nearly all day with the doctor - he is most unhappy with the way my tremor develops. Could not hold my mug of coffee this morning. The only good new is - it´s not Parkinson´s disease. The bad news is that it will influence my model railroading activity quite a lot. Oh, sh....

I can´t say that I am feeling well - the bucket is nearly full!

Have a good day, all of you!

Ulrich: The shakes can be hard to deal with. Believe me, I know. I've developed ways of my own to deal with it while modeling. I'm sure you will too.

Chloe, big dbl. cheeseburger with bacon and a tall glass of Dr. Pepper please.

Well guys, today is three months for me and my girlfriend. And I get to spend it rearranging my room because everyone in my family doesn't want to give that space up until I go to college. so I'll be moving out in a year or two to the attic. However, my layout will be staying in there. So now I have to completely move everything except my shelves to get my layout where I want it. The good news is that now I don't have to contend with the window. Bad news is it might be shrunken to a 10x6.5 layout instead of 12x6.5. This might not happen, and I'm gonna fight till the bitter end to make sure it doesn't.

Double cheeseburger and sweet potato fries with a Dr Pepper please.

Just stopped in to see what's happening.

Jeff-I like the gon. Actual loose loads always look better than the cast ones.

I see we still have some job hunting going on I hope things pan out for both.

Robby- Marketing genious I'm not I guess. I would have really thought that lightly weathered boxcar would have sold fairly quick. Like I said earlier, it's a shame the roadnames narrow your potential customers down so much.

Ryan- Speaking of Monique, I don't know if you caught the post while you were on "vacation" where I mentioned I tried the Crawfish Monique recipe with Shrimp instead. It was a huge success! Yes I gave you credit though it was tempting to take creditWhistling. The lady who runs the Italian restaurant in town mentioned she would like the recipe, (a friend of mine runs the bar and we took him a sample because he loves shrimp and he offered her a bite. Yep A bite. Not even a small second bite.Laugh). I just smiled and said it's not Italian. She said "but it's got pasta".Laugh I told her I'd check with the copyright holder.Laugh

PC- Still Angel

Ulrich- I'm glad for your good news, and hopefully the cause won't be bad either.

Sawyer- sounds like you need a sleeping bag instead of a bed as much as you've moved lately.Smile,Wink, & Grin

I never heard of the air freshener trick before. Do you hang it in front of the intake or shove it in the carb? I just don't see that cardboard tree being good for the engine. ROFLMAO. Oh, oh, oh, I think I pulled something.

well, I'm not moving into the attic for another year or two, and there is a possibility that I will end up being in my room until college anyways. it's all about the money to make the attic into a room.

Coffee in a SOUTHERN PACIFIC mug, please.

***Todd, the wife's layout is 50's-60's, including 40's, steam era, also a few items of modern era, plus....OK, it's whatever she wants.Laugh

Wife & I both saw the Doc today and it was a good thing we did, I guess. Wife's molar is abscessed so it's antibiotics followed by a tooth extraction when the infection subsides. OUCH!

Doc looked at my ear and thought it looked like malignant something-or-other and if it was, I'd have a couple weeks. After futher examination, he felt it could well be from something else and gave me some prescriptions to deal with it. He thought it looked very painful (it's not that bad) and warned not to use Hydrogen Peroxide, (which I'd already tried the other dayLaugh). Interesting visit.

All for now. Y'all have a good one.

Been busy today. Had to show my mother how to use an insulin syringe this morning. Then she wanted to go to Wal-Mart for a few things (few bags full of things), then to Dollar Tree for a few things (few bags full of things), then to Dollar General for a few things (few bags full of things). Then we came back home and guess who had to carry a dozen bags into the house in the rain? Yeah, me! I went into my father's office to make a phone call and lo and behold the phone didn't work. A quick check showed that none of the phones (12) in the house worked. That's about par for the course. The AT&T repairman was at the house yesterday to fix the line in the office as it wasn't working. The 10 other phones in the house were working. Now none of them are working. My father's really ticked off (boiling mad would be a better description). While I was at Wal-Mart today I picked two wide screen Indiana Jones movies. The Raiders of the Lost Ark and the Temple of Doom.

So far, I've not had anybody to ride with.  I've got a few friends that have bikes, but we haven't been able to get together and ride yet.

Today, my lonely riding days came to an end!  I have a new cruising buddy!

As Forrest Gump would say, "We go together like peas and carrots", don't cha think?

I'm not sure I'd want to find the limits cornering in a 10ft high hot dog. What happens when the worms get loose and start eating the weiner? Never thought of that eh?

Good evening, Tuesday is just about history here, still raining, 0.85" today, humid, sun tomorrow by noontime, the gardens sure need some sun.

Built another 2 cars today and started on a Branchline kit, boy those kits from Branchline are really detailed! I had to install the brake lines, the pump, the 3 way valve , etc on the undercarriage. Very impressed with detail of Branchline kits!

Tomorrow the missing Sprue #12 should be arriving in the snail mail, then the truss bridge project will continue. At least with this rain, I have had a chance to get MRR action.

The motherboard and processor chip is also due any day now, so the Computer build will continue as well. Quad processor i7, triple channel RAM.

Who ever said that it is boring in retirement???

Time to hit the sack,

Missing in action:

Fergie, Luc, Ed, Duke, Bill North, Snoah, Flip

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !!
