Good Morning

We's be getting the mix of sun/cloud with another 30% chance of showers today---looked out and what do you know---we already had a 30% shower show up---yeeessh. Anyway the high will be at 24C with tonights low at 12C---right now we are sitting at 8C.

This morning I'm heading back out to the west of here to continue the dog and pony show AKA client survey/report.Whistling At least there are Timmies coffee shops around---Tongue The clients that I spoke with seem to be happy with the service so far---and that is a good thing. I'm not getting horror stories like the one that I got from one client--one fellow received a nice little letter in his fileAngry

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jim:  We hear you on the BIG CITY stuff!! Walter Cronkite was one of the best newsmen going --- now who do we have----Confused And I better keep off that SoapBox

Sawyer: The room is looking good---a lot of light comes in that room by the looks of things. I really need to check out facebook sometime---Whistling

Garry: Those videos do look better when they are HQ--but the atmosphere of the fuzziness makes for an interesting view. Audrey has some relatives out that way---

Rob: We'll keep you on our prayer list---go to the doctor/ER/Whatever you go to----

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chloe, I'll have a coffee and a toasted bagel with cream cheese please---I'll be at the RC and see who else shows up before I trundle off to work--Approve

Gooooooood morning, I was woken up thanks to the VFD fire alarm Banged Head.

The plan today.  Finish up the boxcar.  Clean the house up some, and thats about it.  See if any new jobs were posted.

Jim.........It does look kinda "lame" without the rust.  Its coming thou.

Jeff...............Nice looking Mustang.  Do they have new cars out?

Sawyer...........I agree with the others, nice room.  We have a full attic, but its not done.  Plus its used for storage.  I guess thats why I have the basement (with the spiders, cat litter, etc Blindfold).

I will pop back in later.  Maybe have some pictures ready.

Mornin' coffee please. Thank you. Dryer quit spewing flames so the guy who fixes that stuff will be by this morning to restore the flame and take all my MRR money for the sake of dry clothes. And why? Because she (the perfect wife) doesn't want to hang her undies outside for people to see. I said "you have a 3500 bushel an hour grain dryer over there, put ‘em in that". She says.... "Call Scottie". I don't know what it could be, the gas valve or the igniter, more than likely the igniter but it is cheaper to pay him to replace the right part than me replace two or three. Which, by the way, is just about all the parts in a gas dryer. Besides, he's a friend of ours and "Kimmy Poo", his wife, brought supper over ( enough for two days) after Brenda's Cath so she didn't have to eat my cooking. I shouldn't complain it's the first time the thing has had to be worked on in 20 yrs. I don't count the bearing that I replaced because the kids when they were here felt "if it can hold it, pack it in there". Then say we need a new dryer because it took so long to dry. (haruumph)

Jerry- Nice little (I guess it's huuuuge to an N-scaler) wooden train. Looks like a DeWitt Clinton. Boy it sounds like it's a good thing you weren't on a train yesterday or you'd be stranded in some itty bitty town with nothing to do for what would seem like forever.

Robby- See now if it were me, I'd say "yee haw" and call the car done. Looks great. But no, I'd keep it up and screw it up. You, on the other hand will keep it up and make it look even better.

Chris- Ah I see, your tired of Robby getting' all the plops, as the young kids say. The floor of the gon is very convincing. Good job.

Jeff- nice little mustang. I absolutely despise those big wheels on cars. That one is nothing to some I see in Springfield. Do they do that to the cars around your parts. I hope not. However, since that one is not too bad, I might look at the local Wally World for one. Is it the 1/87? I know, I know there was a whole thread on that. I'm supposed to be able to tell, but I can't. They haven't had any new ones come in for a long time, I suppose they are waiting to get rid of the Cadillac Eldorado‘s.

Jim- Yes it is the little things that wear you out. Funny I was just talking about that a couple of days ago. (hm, me, talking. Imagine that.)

Garry- I started to watch the videos and the Scottie the repairman called. I won't have time now but the bit I got to see of the first one looks very interesting. Thanks in advance for posting. I shall return to them.

Sawyer- Room looks nice. And bright too. I wish my room was as bright.

Have a Great Day!!

 Good morning.

It's 70 and sunny. The high will be in the upper 80's and it will be partly cloudy.

Got a break yesterday and went to Wal-Mart to get a few things. Among those was a Hot Wheels 1/87 Custom '67 Mustang and 2 of the Harry Potter movies in wide screen format. I already have the first 5 movies in full screen format. For those who think there's no difference between the two, you're either blind or not very observant. There's a marked difference. I also checked on the availability of ColorPlace spray paint. They have black and white in flat and gloss, gray primer and red, green and blue in gloss. I also picked up some frozen dinners and some flat bread. I don't know what today holds in store but I guess I'll find out. My parent's yard needs mowing so I'll have to see if I can work it in.

Dryers fixed. Igniter. $50 dollars US. Let's see, that would have bought ..... I don't want to know.

Ah 1/87, I thought the Mustang looked right compared to the box car it was in front of. They make two formats? They looked the same to me Jeff.   Jeff?.....Jeff! Are you even awake? (squints eyes and leans forward) Oh, sorry. You're Philip. I've gotta get new glasses. (tip toes out so not to wake PC. After of course moving the coffee bucket over so he doesn‘t burn his nose when his head drops to the table. Whoops. Wow, that had to hurt. Hm, guess not, he didn‘t even flinch)

Sawyer, I'm on Facebook. Since I leave my politics in the parking lot here at the Diner, and consider this place "neutral territory;" facebook is where I go to post my thoughts on the current state of affairs, post opinion and news pieces I find interesting, and engage in at times very heated and intense political debates. Facebook is as close as I'll ever get to having my own radio talk show. Mischief The Diner, like I said, is neutral. In here, "left" and "right" are directions. "Right wing" and "Left wing" refer to which part of the chicken dinner ya dig into first.

I'm on facebook too.

Thanks for the compliments on the room everyone, it's going to rock finally having my layout in my room and not the attic.

Mornin' everyone!

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz  zzzzzzzzzz uhhhh  snort zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

What is that noise?  Somebody cutting up scrap metal outside?  Oh just Philip....  I can understand him being a bit tired, I resemble that myself.....Whistling

Chloe I'll have a Butter Rum Muffin this morning with real butter and a bottomless mug of dark roast in a FGLK Mug.  Please and Thank You!

Today is "catch up on all the stuff that didn't get finished last week and hopefully more day".  Checked out the final pour at the pond by the Ice House last night.  Looks perfect!  Much better than it did before.  I also got the tool rack finished and installed by the Ash Pit on the lead track to the turntable.

One of the big projects for today is to write a flyer for the Lakeshores Division NMRA promoting our summer picnic.  We have some really good "value added" activities for the day including diesel rides, and a tour of our restoration shop at the museum.

Guess I'll go sit in the booth with Philip and hope whatever he has got this morning is not catching...Whistling

Good Morning All,

Coffee in the IV please Zoe. Late start this morning as we got in from Pittsburgh around midnight. When I got into the shop this morning I found the RR trailer tire had shredded - never knew or felt anything and it was fine when I checked it just outside of State College, Pa on the way home. Lucky nothing else bad happened. Had a good weekend at Pittsburgh - qualified 6th (out of 40) and finished in the same position i think (haven't seen the official results yet). I'll try to catch up pages as I try to catch up here in the shop.   Later, J.R.

Coffee in a UP WE CAN HANDLE IT mug, please & thanks.

***Sawyer, looks like a great place to be working on a layout. Look forward to seeing your progress.

***Garry, those videos were TERRIFIC. Thanks for sharing them. Washington State, my last stomping grounds (11 years worth) before moving to the deep south. Took my 9-person Miwok raft down just about every whitewater river in the state. Ahh, the memories.

***Jerry, hope you get things taken care of asap.

Found some antibiotic ear drops to use short term. Wife has swelling from another bad tooth, so we'll probably call the Doc tomorrow and make us both appointments. Thanks for all the concern, guys!

Thanks Rob. good thing you're going to the doc for that.

Well, I have my plan. And yes, I know the aisle is a tight squeeze, but I'm the only one that will operating the layout, and it'll work for me. I still need to draw in the buildings etc, but here it is for now:

Hello ...

I'm glad some of you had a chance to look at the old Great Northern videos. It is good it brought back memories such as is teh case with Ulrich and Rob. I like the dome ride in the GN Empire Builder. It brouight back several memories of dome car rides in trains my family rode in times long gone. America once had the finest passenger trains in the world, and the goverment threw it all out favoring crowded highways and crowded airports while wasting billions of gallons of fuel. It baffles me.

Sawyer ..... That track plan looks like you can do a lot! Go for it! Have fun! Keep us posted.

Good Morning, Zoe - not too long until lunchtime, so I'll just have a cup of coffee for now, please 'n' thank you!

Chris, that's true, except for those of us who prefer the b***st (are white meat people)...Whistling

Now, Robby - that boxcar has some rust, just not as much as you like on 'em...Smile,Wink, & Grin Gee, what a wakeup call - is your place close to the VFD, or do they just have very noisy sirens?

Garry, thanks for the links to the videos - I'll check them out tonight after w**k. You had me recalling a couple of vacation trips (by car...Sigh) our family made, one to Colorado when I was young, and another to the headwaters for the Mississippi also. Ah, the good ol' days.Smile

Sawyer , you sound just a little bit excited about all that space in your new train room (just a wee bit excited, yeah...)Smile,Wink, & Grin Enjoy!

I see that Todd (the man of few words) has been in this morning...Whistling How ya doin', Todd ? So what happened - did your wife feed the dryer Beano? Wink

Jeff - I like that shot of the enginehouse. Thumbs Up Is your weather supposed to ease off anytime soon (like this fall)? Don't think I could live close to the ocean with all that humidity, I don't even like our humid days much at all up here in Missouri.

I'll try not to bump PC and wake him up... (or would he want to be awakened? Must've had a long night of it yesterday, as I don't think he said he was out riding his bike.  Zoe, what about a coffee IV drip?

Ray, good to hear your water pour went well, and best wishes on your 'catchup' today (no, thanks Zoe, talking about a different kind).

Jerry - hope that they get all your stuff w**king again (internet, phone, both chairs, and anything else around the place that comes to mind!). How's Sallie been doing?

I'll sit here at the counter until it's about lunchtime (or RBF time, whichever comes first).

[Edit]: Well, speaking of lunch, it looks like it's on my tab - eat up, chowhounds! Zoe, start my tab, and I'll be in the back, starting on the dishes...

Blessings,

Jim...........I'm about 10 houses down from the VFD.  A few weeks ago, we were walking the dogs...............Wouldn't you know, it started to go off right above us!!   All I could see was my wifes lips moving Big Smile.  Its pretty loud.  Another VFD is about 2-3 minutes away and you hear it as well.

Well here's the latest boxcar.  I might do some touchs ups, but its pretty rust!!!

Afternoon folks!

Just a ham and cheese sandwich for me today Chloe, thanks! Dinner Oh and one of those RBF's too!

Got most of the "The List" done and now back to work work, but as some of you noted the list was work too, but I'll take that kind of work anytime.  Now I have a real workbench in the garage at the ready, before last week it was piled high with junk and boxes from our move over 3 years ago. Now I have a base from which to start some more projects.... Whistling Laugh

Made a batch of Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya on Saturday for Ben's baseball team end of season party, ate some yesterday too, and tonight.... Chef

Picked up a couple packs of 10 LED surface mounts at the LHS Train Buddy on Saturday that I had ordered when Garry was in during my last visit, turns out that Kim was attending a funeral for an uncle in Ohio. I was hoping to hear some of his renditions of some ole Buddy Hacket jokes....

Yeah, that Ulrich strudle sounds some good too! Dinner

PC, hope everyone heals up quickly and all the best for their speedy recovery. Angel

Dick, that Mr. Solomon presentation must have been quite a show, and 34 train books too. I think I may have one of his volumes in my library.

Jim, speaking of prices.....oh boy...went to the grocery on Friday night and I'll say that $160.00 didn't even fill up a whole basket. Going to have to resort to beans and rice again soon....for the frugal meal plan.

Mike, I resemble most of the ABC's you mentioned, not all, but most! Sigh

Garry, nice GN videos, on the Part 1 noticed at the 3:54 mark there is SR (Southern Railway) boxcar, like that especially! And on Part 3 how about the comments on these kids getting chased around the 2:14 mark "..oh there a gonna get it...yes they are!", classic. I could watch that kind of stuff all day long. Love it, thanks!

I was out for about 4 hours.  It was beautiful when I left, and radar showed rain to the north, so I went south.  So 2 1/2 hours later, I'm riding through this downpour that mankind hasn't seen the likes of since the days of Noah, and I finally arrive home.......TO SUNSHINE!!!!  Everybody is out grilling, and I'm standing in the driveway creating a large puddle under my feet!  I was soaked to the bone!  I WRUNG out my socks!  So much for radar!

Now, where's that IV?

Afternoon folks!

Time for one of those RBFs, Flo.  I have it over at the Rivet Counter if you please.

The job for the morning (after I finished weeding the garden) and the early afternoon was to finish up some scenery at the Ice Pond behind Cooley's Blue Ice.  Here is the back of the pond where a young couple are sitting and enjoying each others company on a beautiful Summer's day.

And one of the falls and the pond at the back of the Ice House:

A coffee refill for me, please, and top off PC's while you're at it...sounds like he can use it.

***Ray, nice work on the scenics there.Thumbs Up

Remember that Bachmann "N" 0-4-0 Docksider I picked up for $10 which included delivery? Well, it arrived today and runs great, but not on my N track, but on the wife's HO track.Laugh Yup, turns out the seller thought it was N instead of HO. Lucky accident for the wife I guess. Runs great, too.

The other e-seller sent me 4 autos pulling little camping trailer, 3 pickup trucks, and replacement parts for the IRS building, now destined to become a Hospital on the wife's layout.

UPS left the Train Crossing Light (big box) outside the gate today. It doesn't seem as heavy duty as the one we saw at the antique store. It only weighs 15lbs!?!

Well I just got a phone call for a interview next Wed. at 9:30 am.  Its for a elementary/middle school door greeter.  I would check all people coming in and going.  Check ID's, etc.  Its only minimum pay, and no benefits.  That's fine, anything is better that ZERO.  I might have to dust off my good attire.  I think I will like it.  Being married to a teacher kinda helps out.

Ryan............Thanks.  I would like to do a step by step.  I will try to find a decent car to do, and maybe next time I will do that.

 Ray.............. I agree, nice scene.

Hope everybody has a good day.

Today was eventful for me. On the MR front I built 6 cars. 3 Athearn BB 54' PS hoppers (NP, Soo, and MILW) and 3 E&C modernized PS-1s (ACL, RI, and MP). Unfortunetaley the bottoms on the BB PS hoppers were never painted so I had to do that myself. The Soo was easy to correct since I had a silver that was dead on. The NP I brush-painted the bottom BN green (BN green is pretty close to NP green). The MILW was a different story. I tried yellow, but it was too bright, so I tried spraying a light coat of brown over it to get it closer. It looks okay, except for one spot that is actually brown. I might run to a store and see if they have a spray bomb that is closer, or weather it and try to hide it.

On the non-MR front, I got a haul off of someone else's parts car. A full set of leather seats, 2 front fenders (probably the hardest to find parts for a Mustang), a rear deck lid and spoiler, and a bunch of other stuff. Total cost: $0 (zip, zero, zilch, nada). I'm debating putting those leather seats in, since the driver's seat has a few tears in the leather and it'd cost a couple hundred to get re-upholstered.

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Good evening, still 65F and humid, tropical rains coming up the coast at us overnight and all day tomorrow, looks like I got the garden tilled and grass cut and placed in the garden just in time.

MRR: Been working on car kits , Athearn and Accurail, 5 built in two evenings, about an hour each. I replaced the platic wheels with metal, and replaced the couplers with whisker 158's instead of the horn couplers that come with some of the kits. The prices on these kits was too hard to pass up at LHS over the past year. Still waiting for Sprue #12 to come in the mail from ME for the 150' truss bridge, I need that bridge in place in order to build the track on the layout.

RYAN: Yes, Brian Solomon is excellent! I hope that some of you guys have an opportunity to check out some of his railroad books.

RAY: Very nice job on the scenery !!! The rock face looks very nice.

JEFF: That Mustang brought back memories of my '69 Mustang with hood scoop. I kept getting stopped on the interstate going to work back then. It seems that my Mustang, which I bought used, had some special work done on it, resulting in the speedometer having a 15% error. NOT NICE!!

Bed time, see you guys later,

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Good Morning--

The current weather has us with another 60% chance of showers today and a high of 24C and a low of 14C. Typical weather for here this year. Tomorrow will bring us showers again with some wind---sighSigh

Got more roadtripping to do today. This time to the south of us so we'll be in the office a little earlier today---I've really had not much MR time this last few weeks aside from the field trip up to Palmerston---( some of us pronounce it as "Pa-a-merston" here ) so maybe this weekend we'll get a slight chance of such(?)Whistling

Chloe, I'll have an orange and a coffee please--I'll sit at the RC and see who else shows upSmile,Wink, & Grin

Any argument carried far enough will end up in Semantics--Hartz's law of rhetoric Emerald. Leemer and Southern The route of the Sceptre Express Barry

I just started my blog site...more stuff to come...

Mornin' folks!

Seems I'm a bit more spry today.  Yesterday I was draggin' butt!

So whats up with all of you?
