Afternoon all..Got some rain this morning now sunny hot and humid...I'll have a root beer float and onion rings please....Not much going on havn't heard from any of the kids...My brother came down he is helping me with my turn table in a cake pan ..we have the bridge built and turning on a 1/4 inch plug..The bridge is made from soft pine and I am going to cover it with plastic...also got the roofs figured out for the mechants row building maybe get them painted monday....Any body hear from John or Ed? I am missing fellow N gaugers......Great idea for the wifes but I can't get Sallie to even try the pewter....You all have a Good Fathers Day....Jerry

The weather was very good today thanks in part to global warming but hey got a nice tan!

We had our annual shipboard BBQ which was well attended and I was awarded my 25 year service award , which included a signed certificate from our Prime Minister Harper.

Anyway I digress. 4 more days and then I'm off for a month and I suspect it will be a busy one as the 2 do list is already loaded.

You know when I look around, it's hard to complain just because I have a few aches and pains. Just the wives in this forum make me feel like a piker and a whiner, when I think about their problems.

Well, things didn't quite work out the way they were planned today. We were going to go to a custom car show and craft fair in Lewiston MI.. About the time I finished breakfast the rain started, and was a steady downpour until about 7:00 pm. I'm glad it started when it did. The plan was for us to take the bike; it could have turned into a looong ride. It would have been her first ride on it. She's been on the Meds. for a year now, so her bones should be rebuilt to a safe level.[sigh]

Evening All,
Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers. Took the day off to do chores and housework, but still a good day. It's nice having the kids home - got a couple of train trip CD's and Mother (for Fathers Day) a biography of Frank Zappa - one of my musical heroes.
Spent Fridasy at Watkins Glen - three laps and then a four hour disassembly to find the new motor dropped a cylinder liner. With no spare there was nothing to do but pack up and go home. Did get to spend all day yesterday at the museum as a car host riding back and forth in the yard for The Little Engine That Could show. A half hour run then clean the car and windows and get ready to greet the next batch of riders. Repeat six times. Good fun.

PC - Sorry to hear about your loss. Our prayers are with you.

Luc - welcome back - don't be such a stranger.

Fergie - congrats 25 years, wow, down this way it was 20 and out if you lasted that long.

Wow, I keep disappearing from here. I think I've been going to McDonald's too much recently (stupid Big Macs actually taste pretty good!).

Happy Father's Day to all fathers![:D] If you're thinking of going out to eat somewhere (besides here [:D]) in the central and western states, there's a great place called "Bandana's". Their specialty is smoked meat, with 4 or 5 choices of BBQ sauce at each table. I had a turkey sandwich (they also serve ribs, chicken, pork, etc.), and it had the best tasting, most tender turkey on it I've ever had.[:D]

I ordered a brand new Hobbytown of Boston ALCO RSD-4/5 kit from Bear Locomotive yesterday. I'll try to post some progress of the kit, including pictures, when I get it.[:D] After that, I'll try posting a review for those of you who don't know about Hobbytown.[:D] The engine will be made to look like Penn Central RSD-5 #6803.[:D]

Lots to do before we leave for Mosport - I may take the Amtrak Maple Leaf to Toronto and then get a rent a wreck to get to the track while the truck comes up the normal way. Could be fun. Morning Gang: Well we went out for dinner yesterday. I had prime rib and a glass of wine. It was pretty good.

Fergie: Congratulations on the 25yrs of service. How many do you have to have to retire? So you're off for a month? How about coming down and building a few fences with me? We can take breaks riding the 7.5in gauge.

I've been meaning to mention that they retired the Coast Guard ice breaker Mackinaw this month. She was put into service in 1944 and had been breaking the ice on the great lakes for 61 years. Her replacement is also named Mackinaw and was designed as a multi task vessel. Anyway Thanks Big Mac.

I see by the clock on the wall it's time for me to do something for the company. Have a good day everyone and I'll see you all later.

Good morning all! Hope all the fathers out there had a great Father’s Day, I know I did! We went to the Sarah P. Duke Gardens and toured three of their well manicured landscaped gardens and then toured the famous Duke chapel that was built in 1924, spectacular work indeed! With my parents in town staying with us for a few days it was a special treat to be with them both on Father’s Day this year.

Most of my track and turnout order came into the LHS and I picked it up Saturday, so my fathers day weekend started off great! Now I need to make another trip to Lowe’s to get the sub roadbed material and start laying down some track!

I just ordered a bunch of the #6 Atlas turnouts from Train Buddy here in Wake Forest, NC, I bet he has some more in stock you could order. Mine are all accounted for! Try http://www.trainbuddy.com I ordered my stuff a week ago and it all came in Saturday, Kim Parker is the owner, and he is great with answering questions. I went there Saturday to pick up my order and he had an HO Broadway Limited livestock car with sound on the layout, when the car rolls the pigs squeal, as the car goes faster or rocks back and forth they get louder. Might have to get one of those!

Hope all you Daddies had a good Daddy Day, mine was OK, had J Bird bout all day, so I didn’t get any thing done I wanted to.

Forgot to say, that Mother’s cousins guard unit is home from Iraq, came in Saturday. They had 5 wounded during their tour, and no KIA’s, thank GOD. Great to have them back safe.

The fairs finally over, finished yesterday with the horse show, and Mother got her first good nights sleep in a week. Got by with no rain, first time in many years. The crowds were up, thanks to high gas prices. Now it’s down to finishing paper work and planning next years fair.

Inch: We got about 1 1/2 inches of rain this weekend. It's not enough to get the burn ban lifted but a start. I've noticed that since last year the county officals have gotton gun shy. Now they seem to be over reacting. The Mackinaw was a good ship. It could really get after the ice. The problem was that she had a large crew by todays standard and parts for her were getting had to come by. The new Mac is 290 ft. long and outfitted for navigation aids work and other stuff so will be more usefull. It also has about half the crew. If there is a hard winter this year we'll see how good an ice breaker she is. She should do OK.

The Hurricanes lost the game Sat. so now the series is tied 3 - 3. The final game of the Stanley Cup is tonight in Raleigh. Whoever wins tonight wins the Cup! Tip off is at 8:00 pm EST, or about 8:15 after all the intro stuff....

Train Buddy is a small LHS, only train stuff too I might add. It is located in a building attached to a horse barn behind the owners house. It is off set from the main road by about a quarter mile. He has a lot in stock, but also has major accounts and can order anything you need in the way of model railroad items. I was able to get about 25% off of MSRP on all my track I ordered from him. Highly recommeded! I emailed him the items that I needed and then he sent an email back with a professional quote. Very professional and friendly too!

Evening all and we rolled in about 8pm Sunday night,had rain in Kentucky and then we hit it hard just inside of the line in Mich. Stopped and put the rain pants on (jackets are waterproof) and it cleared up a little and then about 15 min after we got home it let go again. Some rain on the way down and just ahead of Alberto and was in a rest area when some of the first rain and wind hit. Wasn’t bad after that.

Nigel Really nice wiring job and I like the control panel as well. Flip had mentioned it when we talked on the phone but the pics really do say a thousand words.

Hi Gang: Just a short note. Nothing new here. Mary Ann and I just got back from a trip to find a couple of boat seats for one of my riding cars. It rides better with seats.

I started my vacation today at 2:30. Of course the first few days are going to be very busy with the wedding coming up Thursday and of course there is the reception Saturday. We're going to be very busy.

Jim in CG: Thanks Jim, but how well does spackling work for N scale? Them mortar lines are tiny! I have some gray paint I was going to lightly brush on and then erase off of the brick surface after painting them a nice dark red color. Now...Maybe the Steasel can form the bridge between former rivals, and further interconnect the model railroading brethren.[;)]

If you saw the game last night you know it was exciting! Game 7 in Raleigh and the crowd was on their feet the whole game. It doesn’t get any better than this! A few of our co-workers will not be in today due to losing their voice and finding their youthful exuberance.
