Man, when it rains, it pours! I just found out that my cousin who I grew up with has just passed away. Last week my wife lost an Aunt, now this. This is been a tough two weeks! Guess I've got another funeral to go to. This one's out of state.

On the brighter side, my credit card company called. They were worried something had happend to me as I hadn't been making any charges in the coffee shop lately. I assured them that all was fine and they were very relieved. They were truely relaxed when about that same time inch's coke float charge came through.

PC: Did you happen to notice that you weren't making the top of the page and Ed was absent? Now Ed is back and there you are. Co-incedence or maybe not?

One more wood post and then the steel brace post and the posts will be in for the fence. It's been real hard digging the post holes. The cutting edges on the auger are worn and the ground is very hard. It's dig alittle and add water, wait a half day or over night and repeat. I'm going to cut this short as the little one is asleep and I'm afraid that I may wake her up.

Woah! Would you check out them Chinese steamers! <Whistles> They sure are purdy.[:D] I can't wait to hear the news of their tests pulling manifest freighters! And they are even up to the FRA standards!

I wonder if any of the drivers are blind? They could easily make the second and fourth drivers blind and put lateral motion devices on the first and fifth drivers to reduce curvature stress. Heck, the first and fifth drivers don't need to be flanged if the tires are widened and then the lateral motion devices are linked to the lead and trailing trucks so that they move in sequence around the turn. This would greatly reduce stress, because the flanges would only follow the shape of the curve.[8D] I learned about that while doing research for my "21st Century Steam" term paper.[^]

I think we should buy more Chinese steamers, because they are most modern, and further modernize them with fluidize bed combustion and condensers and more efficient exhaust systems...Much like the SAR Red Devils, and use them in everyday freight.

The midwest thunderstorms on Thursday completely goofed up my schedule for today. Those were some nasty boomers.[:0] Every flight was delayed and I ended up getting home about 3 hours late. The fact that NWS did not forcast them added to "enjoyment" of dodging them.

So, I go away for less than three days and chaos breaks out.[}:)] Bergie is locking down threads at a record clip and he stickies a "bad boy" post. Is there a full moon someone failed to post at NOAA?

I was going to ask a question about NCE DCC products but I think I will wait until the ill wind passes.

PC - Sorry to hear about another loss. I really understand what it is like to go through one bad piece of new after another. Still praying for you.

One good piece of news on the MRR front. Remember the "Guard rails" I installed after the Hudson did a swan dive?? Well it just saved me easily $30. One of the freight cars derailed and took two other cars with it and the guard stopped them from doing a swan dive. One more "save" and the project just paid for itself.

Morning all....I'll have biscuits and gravey and a cup of coffee please....Spent yesterday afternoon trying to get a old Trix f unit running I think I got it figured out but I'm not sure it is worth fixing may just put it in parts box to keep a couple of other Trix engines running...Ed its good to hear from you again...PC you are in our thoughts..Mike tell Debbie that sure is a fine looking cake with that kind of talent have you ever thought about getting her to paint your back drop?....Not much going on may go down to the fire house they are having a big tool sale down there...Sallie and her sister are going to see thier Dad this AM....You all have a good one...Jerry

I shot this at the corner next to my house this morning.



And then I drove over to the CSX mainline out of Indy and paced a train of 40 autoracks and 17 well cars at 60 MPH. I'm not so sure the lady in the rearview mirror was as impressed with the train as I was.







And now it's off to school!

Feel sorry for you PC hope all goes better for you in the future. Know how it is lost 2 very close freinds back about a year ago within 9 months of each other one was 48 the other 47 when they died one was expected as he had cancer ( not from smoking) the other a pure out of the blue case.

PC, sorry to hear of another loss in your life. Hope things get better soon.

Nigel, I did a check of distributers for those label containers on the web site. It didn't mention HD and Lowes but they are available at several places around the area. Mostly electrical supply places as you said. One is just a block from my workplace so getting them won't be a problem.

A week from tomorrow I will be on Amtrak's Keystone train headed for Philly. I wanted to go on the Steamtown tour but took too long to make up my mind about other tours. By the time I sent in my tour reservations Steamtown was booked full. I'll have to fill Tuesday with clinics or something. I just printed the clinic schedule and a quick glance would seem to indicate that won't be a problem. I see Ken's clinic is scheduled for Thursday at 1:00 PM, if I don't have a tour scheduled Thursday afternoon I can check it out.

Almost forgot, [#welcome] back Ed, where you been keeping yourself? Some of the guys here have been complaining about not having OJ for their smoothies.

Guess that's about it. Just wanted to drop by for a spell while I have the time.

Another busy day on tap for us again, normal Sunday morning stuff, along with Mother finishing J Birds burthenday cake, a trip out to Bell Ridge to my moms for lunch, then back home and then into J Birds for her party.
