It's a good day for everyone but the turkey, but did you know that the turkey was nearly listed as our nations national symbol instead of the bald eagle?

Suppose to sunny with a high near 60 and lite wind. Headed up to my MIL's later, then up to Kris's after that. Looks like only 3 of the kids will be there this year, instead of 5. Still there'll be 11 of the grandkids there.
Ya'll be carefull out there on the road

I use one three out of every five days I'm on the job. And that bed idea is a good one. I think I'll head that way myself.

Hi Gang:

Dan: That sounds like a good deal from Micro Mark. That would get you started and as you figure out what else you want you could add. I've got 50 years of tools and still find something that I need. OK want.

Happy Turkey Day to everyone. Mary Ann and I are going to spend the day at home. She is going to cook up a turkey and trimings and we'll have our own little party.

Jeff: I had that happen to me also. I guess if you use a table saw for any amount of time it will happen.

Well I'm going to head for bed.

Good Night All

Yeah, I'm ok. I just have a bruise that's about 2 inches high and almost 8 inches long about an inch above the waist of my pants. The board hit flat side on, so it didn't do any real damage. It just goes with the territory.

Good Morning All,

Should be able to finish the Lotus 7 in time though we have half the shop on it now doing the detail stuff that makes a race car.

Dan - any good industrial supply should be able to get the small drills taps and screws you need. Typically HD doesn't stock anything smaller than #4 screws. The best bet is a set of # 60 to 80 drill bits so you have the proper tap drill sizes for the screws. You will of course also need a tap handle and a micro drill chuck if you don't already own that stuff. A good start and compromise I found is a set of welding tip drills at my local welding supply house. There are enough different sizes to be useful, and the set I found had a hand drill with it.as well. When you buy taps it is always better to get two of each just in case. When drilling and taping in metal use cutting lubricant on the drill and tap not engine oil or 3 in 1 etc. Most times a bit of candle wax will suffice for small jobs and is less messy. Plastic usually doesn't need any lube to drill or tap. If you do not have a local industrial supply and you want larger quantities than economically available through Walthers or Micro Mark, try MSC. www.MSCdirect.com . They have good prices and fantastic service. I have an account with them and usually phone in my orders so they can check stock and price immediately. Hope that helps.

Colby - you got some good advice here, and it's good you shared the problem with your Dad. Some people can apply sexual connotations to a brick so just ignore the hecklers.

Coffees ready to go and it's time to pick up tools. My prayers for those in need and hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving !   CULBig Smile [:D],J.R.

Thanks for the link, and the suggestions for where to pick up the tools.

I was able to fudge the holes this time, because I re-looked at the screws, and they were of the self-tapping variety.  So I was able to use one of those to get the holes tapped in the switcher (well, and the roundhouse kits.. but the screws stayed in those).  I was able to find a a rough approximation of the #50 bit diameter, and just picked up the right (well, approximate) sized bit from the hardware store.  Though I am most definately going to be either buying that tap&drill set MicroMark is selling, or see if Walthers has something similar before too long.. I have about 6 cars waiting for KDs (they have talgotrucks & horn hooks) and then all of my new locos/rolling stock (which, unless I find something I really like at a train show, will be all kits)

Well, dinner for the west coast guys is on me again... two days in a row... man, I'm gonna go broke soon...LOL!

Same choices as last night....

Hello all, I'm home! Ok David, give up the computer so I can log on.

Been cutting up more plywood today. I cut over 1,500 pieces, mostly box bottoms, tops and ends. I had one moment there when I thought I might get hurt badly. I was cutting a piece of 3/4" CDX measuring 4' x 3 1/5' when it slipped and got gaught on top of the saw blade. the saw threw it back at me. It hit me right above the belt buckle with enough force that it knocked the wind out of me and pushed me back about a foot. I'm glad it hit me on a broad edge and not with a corner. As it is, I have a somewhat nasty bruise there now, and I don't bruise easily.

We have the nor’easter sittin’ over us the past 24 hours and dumping all kinds of rain, the gauge is full already, 5” + and counting. The creek is flowing like white water behind the house; wish I still had a canoe.

Already started preparing for the big meal, will be baking the pies tonight and putting the turkey in the salt brine marinade tonight. Then tomorrow morning the injector gets filled with an olive oil and butter herb infusion and the turkey seasoned up and in the oven.

You all have a great and Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for that... though I was actually loocking for a local supply so I wouldn't have to wait for the parts... though MicroMark has a tap&drill set for $21.95... maybe I'll just get that - it has 00-90, 0-80, 1-72 and 2-56, their corresponding drils, and a pin vise.

I think that'd hold me over as far as tools go (well, for a while at least)
