Good morning everyone, just Cheerios mixed with Raisin Bran and an OJ for me...it has worked for 15 years to keep CH and GL under control.

It got down to 28 here last night, 32.5 now and slowly climbing under a bright sun and clear skies.

JEFF: How do you feel this morning lad, you had quite a day yesterday?

MIKE: I know what you mean about Christmas. It "is" my favorite time of the year, but I don't get caught up in the early sales. In fact, we usually don't see any Christmas decorations in the store until after Halloween, so thats not too bad. We learned in Marketing course many years ago, that 60% of retail sales are made during this season, so that is why the retailers go hog wild trying to get the early customers. We need to enjoy the holiday for what it represents, and for our children who have not been tarnished yet by retailers.
We have the kids all grab a name out of a hat and buy a Christmas gift for that person ( all the kids from grade 12 and under). They do chores to earn their own money to buy their gifts, and that way they learn the meaning and joy of thinking of others first. It is amasing to see the pride in the eyes of these kids, as others open their gifts that they thoughfully picked out and purchased with their own hard earned money. The $ amount is small because we want to instill in them that it is the "thought" that counts, not the "amount". IT WORKS !!

GMTracing: Cloudy in Danbury this morning??? Go north young man, go north !! We have full sun.

See you guys at lunch, for the still working crew..TGIF.
Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! I hope you understand and that there are no hard feelings toward me.

No, No!  No hard feelings at all!  Go ahead and send them to him.  Between the two of us we'll bury him in kits!  It'll be a very Merry Christmas at Ryan's house this year!

Speaking of that......

Ryan, I sent you a "care package" this morning.  You should get it in a few days, OK?  Merry Christmas!

inch, I pray that Beck will do better.  Not being able to breath can be one of the most scarry things a person can face.  I pray that her lungs will fill with air and she'll be able to relax because she can breath right again.

Jeff, don't overdo it today.  Have fun (I know that being able to work again is great and all) but don't hurt yourself.  Pace yourself, OK?  And we'll look for you tonight!

Chow time, Zoe, I'll have a grease burgar loaded, onion rings, and a barley pop please.
Been cleaning up leaves, got most the front yard done other than hauling off some piles and that won't take long. Going up to Paris tonight to tonight shopping I guess, need to rest up some before then

David,, I'm purrty sure Beck will make it through this and the doc's think so too. And all the prayers gong out has got to help a bunch.

Perry ,,, I sure like the photos today, thanks

Called awhile ago bout some trains that were on the radio trading post. Sure wish I had an extra $350.00 bucks right now. I could get a complete layout, bunch of engines, cars, building and all for that price.
The lady I talked to didn't know what scale it was, but who cares at that price.
May try an talk Mother into a Sunday drive and look at it anyway.

Best get tools picked up n put away, think I'm done for the day. Need to rest up before tonights ride.
Catch ya'll later

I spend most of my day on the phone.  While I'm on the phone I can web surf.  Not a big deal.  I can multi-task.  You'll still get your check.  I wouldn't do you like that!

Hey Jeff!  How goes it today?  Did you make your first million today?

Nah! Just $6.50 an hour for 6 hours and 23 minutes today. Work continues on Monday. In the meantime, David and I are going to Alexandria tomorrow to raid the LHS. He's been looking forward to it all week and I'm not about to disappoint him.

Hi Gang: This will be a quick drive by posting. The train meet is kind of slow. The only folks here so far are the locals and one out of towner. It used to be that we'ed have locos and folks in from all over the country. I guess we're getting old. The temp is 63 but there is a slight breeze that makes it feel cold. My son fired up the locomotive this morning and ran it around. He said it was steaming real good. I just didn't feel up to doing all the work that it takes. There is something to be said for the diesels. Just grab the starter rope  and go. When you'er done turn it off and go home.

Well I'm going to get ready for supper at the track. Homemade beef stew and corn bread.Um, Um.

See you all later.

Good Evening All

Got one or two e-mails today from Florida Phil And Dick wondering what was on the go...

Well it's like this. Someone took me to the amusement Park and paid for my ride on the "Roller Coater Through H. E. double hockey Sticks" And I'm ready to hurl my cookies so to speek.

It was two weeks ago today when I got the dreaded call from the hospital telling me Dad was crashing quick and after a quick brief from the Doctor i was told he wasn't going to survive the day. Well he did and his house sold and closed Novemeber 1st and i didn't kill anyone in rage, which in its self is a minor miracle (Lawyers, Phooey!!)

Anyway Dad caught a second bought of C-difficile and the diarehea is back with a vengance. Dad is holding on but just. He's lost an incredible amount of weight and his recovery will be very long and I fear painful. Hate to say it but I'm running out of steam.

Btw I bought a 40 tonner, cute little beast even though it's, dare I say it,

                                                                                                            a Diesel.

Yeh I know, say it isn't so.

Fergie: Sorry to hear about your father's bad condition. I hope he gets through it and can enjoy some more good years. At least you are doing well. You're not getting started on a diesel kick are you?

Something I haven't told anybody for a long time is about how I almost didn't get through a serious time of my own. About 26 years ago I sustained a head injury in a car accident. I was in a coma for almost a week with a massive concussion and for the first few days they didn't know if I was going to make it or not. The body was OK but my brain was doing a section 8 and three times the first night I went into cardiac arrest. But I survived and am still kicking around today, thankful for every day I can get. I live every day like it's the last and enjoy life as much as I can. I travel when I can afford to and go where I please. My ultimate goal, if I can get enough money together for the trip there and back, is to ride the Orient Express from Paris to Istanbul. There's a special train for railfans that runs once a year. $5,000 one way. It's an awesome way to spend 7 days.

I don't think that will ever happen, but it's something to hope for.

Jeff: Maybe luck will come your way and you will win lotto! then you could do the Orient 100 times over, it's funny though the lotto always seems to be won by ungrateful people... Clown [:o)]

Fergie: sorry to hear about your pa, hope he gets through ok. good to see you back, albeit a short stop.

Nigel,
if you read this, sorry I haven't got back to you, hopefully tonight or tomorrow you will have that list Wink [;)]

Good Morning, Janie - I'd like a cup of coffee since Luc's buying, and I brought some cinnamon rolls if any of you would like one.

Janie, you might want to hide a few in the back, so the later risers get a chance at 'em. Wink [;)]

Not much going on this morning - I'm in need of a cup of coffee to wake me up. Getting ready to go do laundry in a little bit, then come  back home and do some work on the layout track. (Didn't get all that I'd hoped to have done completed last weekend. Glad it's the weekend. Yeah!! [yeah] Hope you all enjoy the cinnamon rolls (the back row of them were made with Splenda for those watching their sugar intake).

Blessings on your weekend,

Just popping back in after looking at the previous page.

Fergie, will pray for your Dad (and you and the rest of the family). He sure seems to be a fighter, though, so I wouldn't count him out yet. As (Jeff?) said, it may be a bit of a haul, but your Dad seems to keep going.  I won't razz you about that d**sel (not right now...). Good for you, not taking the lawyers' heads off for them. Shock [:O]Oops [oops] Maybe later I should post some of my lawyer jokes? Hmmm, now where did I leave those?....

Blessings,

Jim in Cape Girardeau
