Good Morning All.....It cloudy but warmer here today....Hey I am just in time I'll have some of PC's Bar-B-Q please emmmm that sure looks good Thank You is that a special secret mixture on there PC?.....Messed around and got a little 0-4-0 off the shelve and let it run a few laps it stalled over on the back side so I put a Amtrack FP 40 on the give it a push they coupled up and it was so funny looking I just let them run kind of a weird double header....Got a bid in on a New River Mine on Ebay but I probaly won't get it...Mike....If you don't mind and you get back to Wal mart pick me up the box car and hopper I have been checking a Charleston each month but they don't have them Thanks....By the way they do have a good selection of HO cars and trucks at Charleston....Going to see if I can get power strip mounted on new work bench today.....You all keep it on the rails......Jerry

Good afternoon gents, busy morning shopping with the wife at BJ's, then we did a little Christmas shopping, while the choices of colors and sizes are available in the stores. One of the nice things about being retired is that you can shop weekdays and it is not crowded at all, at least not yet.

We picked up some new lights, and guess what? They are LED's!!! They had them in Sear's in four different bulb shapes. They use 80% less power for the same light output, and the LED's have a much longer life expectancy than the mini lights. $ 11.99 a set, a little high, but, when you consider the electric bill savings, and the bulb life, they pay for themselves in a year or two.

Clear skies here today, temp is 52F with RH = 35%, DP = 53F, Wind is 2 mph from the NW.
Nice cool, crisp, clean fresh air, courtesy of the northern latitudes.

RYAN: Nice Diesel you picked up!!! And your progress is really good on your layout, you just might have a train running on one line by Thanksgiving.

Hi Gang: I just droped in to see what was happening since lunch.

PC: I'll take a few ribs just to make you feel better. They do look good.

The train meet went well. I'm sorry I can't post any pictures since I didn't take any. For the first time in a long time I didn't take my camera or cam-corder. Usually I spend most of my time taking pictures and such and really not getting a chance to enjoy the meet. I didn't run my locomotive. My son did all the engineering and I rode wirh a friend of mine and visited. All went well and my narrow gauge cars stayed on the track until we were on the way to the yard to put them up and they derailed coming out of the station. No big deal but they just couldn't make it with out doing that once.

There is a train show this week end. I've got Saturday off so John and I will go then and I'll make a quick stop Sunday before they close. That's the best time to deal. I just hope that there isn't some rare piece that I just have to have.

I talked to the boss this morning about retiring on 2 Feb and he said that would probably all right with him. The fly in the ointment is that I have to take my 4 weeks vacation in Jan or loose it. No way that is going to happen. So I leave on vacation in the middle of December and come back and work one week and then color me gone. Now I'm getting butter flys about the whole thing. Nuts.

Good evening gents, well, here we are on the Eve of election day in most states. By tomorrow evening we should all know which way the seesaw is going to tip in the Senate and House. Four more years of finger pointing, doing nothing but passing one Pork bill after another and then dumping the price tag onto the American public. But I WILL vote, I will WRITE-IN the names of several of my MRR buddies whom I feel can do a better job.

PAUL: We all faced that same feeling upon retiring. In most cases, we are making the highest salary of our lives when we retire, but then the shock of that dreaded word hits us....FIXED INCOME. I wouldn't feel so badly if all our EXPENSES were also FIXED. Alas !!!! We can always to go to WalMart and pass out smilie faces at the door for $8.50 and hour!! That's $340 a week less Fed, State , SS and Medicare taxes, so we walk away with $340 - $95 = $245!! Of course you can also CONSULT on the side and make some serious money.

I just received my NCE RB01 back in the mail this afternoon, it was converted to an RPT1-X repeater for free, just had to pay $5 shipping cost. Good service from NCE

Ryan, we'll be thinking of Ben and all there. Know it's hard the the kids are feeling bad an scared, and nothing you can do to help much, but be there.

PC,,, a good preacher freind of mine told me one time, A preacher neede to be able to talk alot, but be a better listener first". He did it for 85 years. I think ya might fit the bill.

Inch: I didn't have even a touch of vertigo today, I had full strength all day. This was a very good day, they're rare these days. I have my good days and bad days. Yesterday was a bad day. I don't know what tomorrow holds in store for me. It could be another good day or a really bad day in which it's difficult just to get out of bed. Yes, I'm that bad off and getting worse every week. Unless there's a major change, the doctors don't think I'll make it to 60. But who knows, maybe they'll come up with a cure for degenerative bone desease and degenerative nerve complications within the next 15 years. I always have hope that things will change for the better, and if they don't, well it's been fun.

Circa 1900 Bank building in St. Francisville, LA. Now a gift shop and antique store. Still has the bank valt inside.

Good Evening, Chloe - since PC's the lucky guy buying tonight, I'll just have a cup of hot chocolate, please - it's about the same color as the stuff that's being slung back and forth on the airwaves lately. I will be sooooo glad when Wednesday is here...

One nice thing this year, is that I will be able to just vote for the (few) people I want to see get elected to their offices. None of that 'straight party ticket'... stuff. Of course (contrary cuss that I am ), my historical voting records has been about a 50-50 (or 60-40 sometimes) split on my votes over many years, so what's new?

Picked up some stuff tonight at the MRR club meeting that I'd ordered. Got in a Walthers Santa Fe diner that was on sale, an Accurail (RTR) D&RGW boxcar, a couple of pairs of Classic Metal Works truck trailers, plus couple of Faller stone sheets for scratchbuilding. The CMW truck trailers look nice. Oh, I won a Roberts Printing Co. kit on eBay that's on the way here, and I need to get a money order tomorrow to send off for a Weekly Herald (old Revell) kit I also won on eBay. The Faller stone wall sheets are a bit thicker than I'd like - trying to figure how I can thin them down. They're like there's an 1/8" foam backing to them...

Prayers for those of you with ailments and/or troubles currently, including Inch, Fergie, Jeffery, Ryan and others I may have missed in need of .

Well, time to head for bed. Tomorrow is payday (yippee!!) Almost makes up for some of the election ads. But at least by Wednesday morning those will be gone.

Well, long time no see everybody, im back and ready for action!!! Its been a long time sense i have been in here! We have alot of catcing up to do. I have switched to N scale and have most of my benchwork done for the new layout, i will put some pictures up later. I was in the hospital last weekend but i am doing better now. Im still fightin fire and, i am now a Hazmat technichian so i can go handle all sorts of chemicals and stuff. Im finally in my senior year of school, it seems like just ysterday i was starting high school. I can get my license in december, i can't wait! I just bought a truck too, its an '89 silverado 2500, it is in extremely good condition, my dad wouldn't have let me buy it otherwise. Me and the Girl Friend of five months are extremely happy together, she is very supportive of the hobby and thinks it is cool. We just went to homecoming this past saturday. As far as future plans go, i hope to be in college, not sure where yet, and studying to be an RN.

Well thats all i can think of for now
