Steve-I'm glad to hear that the medical report was good Now watch out and don't kill yourself delimbing that tree. I almost did myself in this summer cutting away some limbs on the big sugar maple in my back yard.Oh BTW if anyone's interested I've left some homemade syrup from that tree in the fridge.
fergie-I'm glad to hear that dad's improving !I'm eyeballing those 5 axle clinners myself I'll likely go for one of the Super continental painted one's. can't wait for that PC unit to come out.Dick that 2-10-4 is an IHC Mehanno makes them for them, more interestingly is that one of our bigger food store chains Loblaw's has these train sets made every couple of years, usually steam powered.
Luct-thanks for the updateing the rememberance week for everyone. as the yhears go by I feel it becomes more and more important that the rest of us stop and pay our respects. This year heather and I will again attend the 11th service at the Canadian Warplane Herritage Museum. Afterwards The Lancaster, the Dakota , the Fairy Firefly and the Canso are schedulled to do flybys ( weather permitting ) Nice to see that VIA is running a speacial train again this year. This one commemerating all the Warbrides that came into the country at the end of the war.

Fresh coffee and a donut just the thing this bleak morning. I'll go easy on Jeff and get my own. Drizzle and clouds with rain on and off predicted for today. Museum work last night aligning sidings and switches at the end of the yards after doing a cleanup under the benches. Brought a Lionel 2 -6 - 2 back to the shop to try to fix the worn axels.
Fergie - is a 40 tonner the imperial equivalent of a 44 tonner? No pics? I agree on the 5 axel C-Liner you and Rob got. I have the New Haven delivery colors version on order as well (since they are coming from the great white north they understandably got your northern versions done first). And don't worry about the detour away from steam. I also got an IHC 4 - 6 - 4 Hudson to convert to an I-5 and I like it so much I may get another to leave as is. Just need to see if I can fit DCC and sound into the tenders.
Dick - How is the layout coming ? Don't recall seeing any progress updates lately or are you waiting for the snow to fly before devoting more time to it? Are you planning on the Amhearst show again this year? I've already been signed up to work the DRM booth so I'll be there for sure.
Jerry - shortening the hoppers is more difficult than you might think. If they are like the gon I used for the mine cars there is a steel sheet between the base and the bottom of the car you will need to cut. Best bet I think is to pull one apart first to see what obstacles you might have. On the gondola the steel sheet was stamped and hard as heck to cut through. Good luck anyway.

Well started to the poles to vote. What a joke. We have two voting places that are about 1/2 mile apart. Yesterday some joker decided it was time to overlay the road in front of the two schools. They layed down the oil and had all their equiptment blocking traffic. I know that turned a lot of people away. They were trying to raise both property taxes and sales tax. Both failed LOL Figured it to be the Demo's trying to get a foot in the door but they failed to.

Rained just about all day, and we broke a single day rain record with 2.4” in Raleigh. Supposed to dry out and get really nice on Thursday. Temps are now in the mid 60’s, but still damp.
Monique went to her notary class last night and I spent about 3 ½ hours in the train room. I put down some more cork roadbed for the coal mine area and the lead track to the staging area. Also put down track in the staging area for a dry run before they get put down with adhesive. My original plan was to have nine tracks in the staging area, and then as I started with the dry run of the track I found that the area would hold two more tracks, so now the staging area will have another 16’ of track. Yea!
Philip, I sent you an email, hope you got it! The package arrived yesterday, and thank you so much. You really outdid yourself, you surprised me too! Ben will be so thrilled. Thanks again!

Hoople, I know DCC might be out of the question right now, but picking up a few $8.00 / hour jobs and your $$$ can add up quick. You are only a few years away from being able to work part time at some places. When I was a restaurant manager we used to hire bussers who were around age 14 and made around $5.75 per hour working part time. The only limitation was that they could not work more than 5 hours straight and could not work after 10:00 PM. They also got a tip share from the wait staff, cash is king!
