Good Evening All,

Interesting presentation at the museum tonight. One of our members had done a tour of E. Germany after it fell and the amount of steam still in use there was amazing. The looks and configurations were a bit odd what ith 2 - 10 - 2 freight locomotives and 2- 8 - 0 passenger power plus a bunch of diesels with chris craft cabins attached. There were things like a yard with 32 steam locomotives all lined up in various states of repair and a roundhouse in another town with 12 stalls each containing a different black with red trim steam locomotive. Impressive.

Jeffery - it's the same old story - if you want it done right, do it yourself.

RT - sorry to hear about your mom. My MIL is going down the same path though she's been hanging in there for the last year or so. Anyway you have our prayers and sympathy.

All for now, just wanted to drop by for a nightcap. CUL, Big Smile [:D]J.R.

Thanks for the warm welcome....

Not much to tell about me other than the fact that I really enjoy my hobby. My main focus is on scratch building my own scenery (but not trees). I started this layout in May 2002 and have been having fun with it ever since. I post around on different forums and today is my first post on this message...I've been reading it for quite a while.

Spitwater hotel...ticketing

New cabin but no place to put it yet...

Smoke in the living room...

Hear the roar...

Enjoy the hobby Perry

Hey ya'll!

PC, as long as it is Pacific Salmon, I'm in for an entire side smoked please.

Inch, I'm now gettin what you had I think last night; hard rain and thunder.

JW, glad you got your modem back up and running.  Ain't technology a womderful thing?  Wonder where we would be without it?

Guess I should go now since thunderstorms and technology don't mix.

Worked the bugs out of the modem last night and I'm flying along at warp speed here. It feels good to be back online.

I just had a close encounter of the fourth kind (excited teenager). I had promised my neighbors boy that if he got good grades in school this year, he could be a staff member on my forum. He pulled himself up by the bootstraps and showed a marked improvement. His grades last year were barely passing (C's and D's). Now he's getting A's and B's. So, late last night I modified his account and made him a junior staff member. He came over a little while ago and got online while I was in the shower. I readied myself for what I knew was coming. Suddenly there was this roof-raising YAHOO just as I came out of the shower. I think I was almost crushed to death by a hug from the most excited and happy 13 year old I've ever seen. Now if he'll work on his caps and punchuations, I'll see about giving him more responsibility.

I would appreciate any advice from those of you who have kids. I have none of my own and have only my own childhood experiences to draw on. They howeverm are markedly different from anything I could use with him, as I was a mentally retarded child and required special care and schooling.

yea. though I've been single for all my life (13 years that is).

now then any of you guys have any ideas for Citicenship in America?? It's for an esay and basiclly the best one in town goes against the best in the district, then country, state then national. and the winner of the town gets $50 and a plak, district, $75 cash or check a plak, state $100 , national $1,000, and a all expences paid trip the Washington DC. now I very mich doubt that I will make district much less county and a 0% chance of national. I would just like you any of you have to say.

Good afternoon, I missed breakfast and lunch in here today. How about an afternoon snack ……a banana smoothie sounds good right about now.

I’ve been working up some cookie cutter templates for the plywood sub-roadbed cuts I need to make on the next sections for the layout. And I progressed with putting down more cork roadbed on the double mainline run to the second level. I am now starting to concentrate on finishing the first level so that I can start putting down some track ASAP.

I’ve also been reading the Kalmbach book “How to Build Realistic Model Railroad SCENERY” by Dave Frary. This is a really good book, full of formulas for plaster, paint, foam, dirt, etc… I am currently reading the section about rocks and rubble.

Perry, great pics of the layout, I really like the fence material below the benchwork and the dinosaur attacking the archeologist is great! Thanks for sharing.

Paul, good luck with the 6-month CU! Still waiting to turn on the full house heat here, but there was one really cool night a few weeks ago when we fired up the gas logs in the fireplace. I heard that the Polar Express was headed our way on Friday….

Scott, great news with getting to attend the train show on the 20th. You sure are working a lot these days, enjoy the break, because you deserve it my man!

Inch, thanks for the weather report! How you keeping those flowers protected from the frost? I want to keep my mater plants up as long as possible, they are still producing.

Neal, good one!

RT, good news. Prayers are still with you and your mom.

Jeff, great job on giving the boy some reward for his efforts. I have only 13 years of “dad” experience, but I am still learning. Everyone’s different, but the one thing I have learned is to spend as much time with the children as possible. The chances for bonding with my 11 year old are getting far and few between with all the demands he has with school and friends now.

Hoople, what position do you play on your soccer team? I played soccer in high school for two years and was the right forward.

Cheers,

Ryan

Hey guys, sorry I'm late today.  It's crazy around here!  Found out that the house I just moved out of was built in 1851.  I knew it was 19th century, but thats REALLY old for central Indiana!  Back then this area practically WAS the wild west!

Oh, I brought lunch, as promised!

Grilled Salmon!

Good to see Jeff's back on line!

RT, haven't forgot you and yours in my prayers.

Thanks all for the good advice on kids. I'm 46 myself, still single, no kids. This boy I'm dealing with considers me to be his second father and I'm a very special freind of the family. I want to do right by him and them too. He's only 13 and he's a great kid. He usually drops by my home in the morning before going to school, and, quite frankly, I've gotten used to it. He can come in and get on the internet anytime he wants to. He likes using my computer because it's THE fastest one in the neighborhood. Everybody else has 512k cable, DSL and dail-up. I'm using high-speed cable (3-4 megs or faster).

Evening all, a baleypop please Cleo,
Just stopped for a short, getting ready to go the the funeral home for vivstation. We lost 3 freinds last Fri. night in a car crash. One made it though, Horse Fly. His wife, son and DIL were killed. He's home now and will make it, but it'll take awhile, both body n soul. Man I don't want to go, but.

Neal,,,, luved the joke. How true it is.

RT,,, we're still here with ya.

Colby,,, the only thing that comes to mind is, the military service to our country for your essay.

Ryan ,,, we don't worry bout flowers much this time of year, but on your tomatoes. Cover them with a something, an old bed sheet, news papers, plastic, or such. Works less it get to freezing or below for more than an hour, then not much helps, but a hot house. Their forecasting 26 for the low here tomorrow, seasons done.

Jerry,,, no frost here here. Maybe because the woods held some heat in too.

PC,,, I had Cleo save a piece of salom for laters, thanks

Best get moving

Hey guys, Lady in the house so watch what you say(only teasing, I know most of you are gentlemen). Haven't been in for a while but lot of stuff going on MIL is in really bad shape they don't expect her to live much longer and my husband is going through  some medical tests to get to the bottom of some sight problems, Waiting to hear results from the MRI. AND THIS TOO SHALL PASS. I haven't worked on the layout other than painting a few buildings, just haven't felt up to it.

Perry, I really enjoyed seeing those pics, Did you scatch build all your buildings 'cause they are great looking.

I can't stay but thought I drop in so you wouldn't forget me. My thoughts and prayers go out to all in need.

Evening Gang:

Hi Lisa, good to see you back in here. I'm sorry to hear about all the problems on your side. Seems to be alot of that going on lately. I'll keep you and yours in my thoughts.

The doctor said that everything looked good from my tests. PSA was 6.6 with 6.5 being ideal. He said that's about as close as you can get.

After we got home we spent the afternoon clearing up a tree that had lost a couple of limbs a few years ago. There is so much that needs to be done here that we get behind easley.

I'm going to head for bed now so you all have a good night.

Evening all, been a while so I thought I would stop in this evening.  I've been busy in the basement.  The train room is almost finished enough to get back to work on the layout.  I'm hoping to get it done this weekend.  Of course I will be in Timonium all day Saturday so a more realistic goal may be early or middle of next week.

RT, I know you won't see this for a couple days but my thoughts are with you.  My uncle had Alzheimer's and it is really tough on the family.  People with Alzheimer's like to roam around.  The day he died he walked away from the house and walked four miles down the road before he had a heart attack and died at the end of a farmer's lane.  The farmer's wife saw him falling and called 911 then went to see if she could help.  He was gone before the ambulance could get there.  At least he wasn't alone at the time.  That's what they told my aunt anyway.  Even if it was just to make her feel a little better, it was kind of nice of them to do it.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome], to the new folks I've noticed while reading at work.

There must be something in the new forum software that the firewall or antivirus software at work doesn't like.  I can read posts at work and I can even log on.  But when I try to reply to a post I get a message in the reply box about a free script program didn't load properly, or something to that effect.  I tried posting a couple times from work the past couple weeks and the same thing happened every time. Sad [:(]

Guess that's about it.  See you all later.

Evening all, barelpop, Cleo,,,
Went over to the funeral home, big bunch of people there or been there. Jamie came down from Springfield with her 3 boys [her and Richy were close] and had some car trouble. so I had the boys for awhile, while Clyde was working on her car.
Then to top things off for the evening Clyde's MIL was put in the hospital, so DIL is there now. Clydes home with 2 of the kids finishing home work and baths. J Birds here for the night and tomorrow.
At least Jamie's on her way home in Clydes truck, cause the boys have school tomorrow. All's normal here.

Lisa P,,, great to hear from you, starting to wonder. Sure hope things work out for the best. We'll be thinking of yaz here.

Atta boy good to hear from you to, glad the basement projects coming along well.

Best get off here, J Birds tellling me time for bed and she's sleepin with papa, granny can sleep on couch. Might be a fun night
