Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,

Slow day here again, like all days.  I wasted most of the day watching the baseball divisional playoffs on television.   Padres still alive.  Yankees headed for home.  No "Subway Series"  this year I guess.

Not much model railroad activity today, although I did at least run trains for a while.  Spent some time trying to run in a relatively new Plymouth switcher from Bachmann.  With such a short wheelbase it has a lot of trouble on unpowered switch frogs.  I'm hoping after it runs in a bit it might be smooth enough to coast over them at a bit slower speed.  Hard doing yard switching at warp 1.  Also spent some time trying to find why a few cars and locos are bouncing at one point on the layout.  I suspected a stray piece of ballast was hidden just inside the rail, but after a bit of picking I still hadn't seemed to eliminate it.

Warm and humid as usual, but at least it was overcast most of the day.  Even when it's hot, if the sun stays behind the clouds it makes it a lot easier to bear.

Catch you gys later.

Ed

Hey everyone!

Well, I got some of my trains over here today from the old place.  They're all tucked away safely in their new room.

I see PA's been modeling.  How about the rest of you?

Its been rainy here all day so I inventored most of my trains and so far I've shocked the heck out of my self I figure I have about 4 times the value I thought and I'm not done yet. I'm right at $4000.00 so far . By Greenburgs Pocket Guide To Lionel Trains. (2003 Edition) If I put them all up on ebay my guess is about 1/2 that but still thats twice what I thought forgot about a lot that I have. Still have a few freight (postwar and present ) to do then I still have all the prewar cars and then I need to add the 2 sets of Passenger cars I ordered/won so boy I still have my work cut out for me to get this all inventoried.

Hope all have been doing well

I'm looking at a standard Gauge set that maybe I can work somethin out with this guy That would be the tops if i could get that. thats what I really want the most right now is an prewar Standard gauge set.

Howdy y'all. What's going on?

I have no idea when I last posted here...So I'm not even going to bother searching way back when.

So, yeah, things have been interesting here. I'm seriously thinking about leaving Sears. It just hasn't been anything that I have felt like doing. I'm done my training and starting to work on the sales floor...And I have the pleasure of working with an arrogant rich kid who thinks he can do anything because he has money...It's just fun...I haven't been happy with Sears at all since the beginning. Maybe I should start looking again.

At least other things are going well. School...I have my usual straight As so far. AP Calculus is a bit of a stretch though...Not as easy as PreCalc was. But I'm confident that I can pull of the A. Working back at Purkey's Toy Trains is fun. I love working there; and I missed it. And my car is running great still.

Good news! I'm trying to get a friend into model railroading. He wants to build an N scale layout. Smile [:)]

I'll talk to y'all later.

Hey all

Hey Pa Belt, mind if I join in on the head banging?

Welcome and Get well to anyone I’ve missed... way to many to name.

Got digital cable not too long ago... lot of good movies and shows from when I was young such as the Robocop trilogy, Beetlejuice and Batteries Not Included.  Can also find some decent music video’s, haven’t had a decent music video channel since the Box was replaced by MTV2

Haven’t gotten much done layout wise, just more research into what will eventually be included on it.

Real train wise, I’ve gotten some interesting power.

The unit in CR blue is a B40-8

The CSX unit in this shot is a B36-7

Picked up a new video card as the one included with my computer (about 4 years old) was not supportive of some games I had purchased.  I should of gotten some additional RAM at the same time.  I have 512mb but some of my games take some time to load.

I saw on the news that the Navy’s latest carrier, CVN 77 the USS George H. W. Bush, was formally commissioned. It is scheduled to be delivered in 2008. It is supposed to be the last of the Nimitz-Class carriers that will be built.  CVN 78 was started August of last year, and a possible name will be the Gerald Ford.

Scott: Sears? What happened to Bose? (Ya, it’s been a while since I’ve kept up regularly).

Well, that’s about it for the night.  Live long and prosper.

A little trivia that I came upon as I was surfing the net:

1. The first US aircraft carrier to be lost due to enemy action was the first US aircraft carrier.  Although it had be converted to a seaplance tender, the former USS Langley (CV 1) was crippled by a Japanese air attack  in February of 1942 and scuttled by her escorts.

2. No U.S. battleship has been lost in combat AT SEA.  All U.S. Battleships that have been sunk were in port at the time.

Mornin all, short stack, sausage, and some of  Luc's coffee Janie. You be loooking mighty nice this early dear.

In for another nice day, sunny, highs in the 70's. Had kids most of yesterday, so not much of anything got done. Did cook a pot of beans, over to the campground. Sure was an enjoyable way to watch the full moon come up. Even got a few hands of dominos in, which was fun with KC wanting to help me play.

PC,,, sorry bout not getting back in here sooner, but you n yours would have been welcome for beans. You could have even set up a tent an spent the night, had some freinds that did

Hows the trains like their new home, know you be happy bout it.

RT,,, good luck with the retirement plan. But if your luck runs like mine, when you decide to sale, theres no buyers or they want to give pennys on the dollor.

Scott,,, good to hear from you and glad schools going ok. Keep up the good grades, the AP calculus will get a little easier as the year goes on. To bad bout Sears. Don't worry bout the rich kid, just do your best.

Mikeygaw,,, like the train pics,, thanks

This past Thur. we did a little rail fanning over in N. Terre Haute, In. at the Merkle Mill Dam. I was wanting some pics to use for painting my back drop. Here's one of the dam and the old NYC bridge.

While we were there, I got some pics of a Terre Haute bound CSX  crossing the mill pond.

Use to swim there some as a kid, when over to my Uncle or grandma's with my cousins. Good fishing there too Blue gill, cat and even caught a couple bass.

Nothing really planned for today, but kids, football and trying to get some MRR time.  Think Mother fixing a pot of veggy soup, I'll be eaten on that all day, wheres the Tums. Hope ya'll has a gooden

Morning y'all.

Mikey: Bose is too far away. Because of family matters with the step-family...We moved back to Sykesville. So I am back home where I should be. Unfortunately, that makes Bose over an hour away...So now I am at Sears so that I could get about the same amount of pay as I would at Bose. I need two jobs to do that...And still haven't gotten that much yet...

Inch: I try...But he is supposed to be showing me the ropes...And can't help himself but to throw in something about his money or how he is the "$h*t"... Sears has been one problem after another, and I'm getting sick of it...

No use trying to catch-up. Back to many pages. So I just poked around on a few.

Prayers for all in pain. Old saying goes- If everyone could show their troubles at the front door for all to see, we would quickly take ours back in.

Been busy. Opened up the shutters and discovered a multitude of wasps nests. Some of which quite large. WD-40 and high pressure water hose removed them. Flip many- wasps zero. [ no offense, guys, these were the flying, stinging wasps.]      lol.

Still have 4 models to put together but no incentive to do so.

Ryan- I like tomatos but not as a soup. Prefer pea, chicken or ox-tail soup. Any other mature members remember ox-tail soup?

Still more laundry and shopping to do so off I go.

Thanks to Ed for his postings, Inch and others for the pictures , Steve for the beautiful English steamers.

Prayers for all and enjoy yourselves.

Mornin'!

That Biscuits and Gravy sure looks tempting!  That, and some coffee please Chloe!  Thanks!

Inch, thanks for the invite!  Getting a bit nippy for a tent these days though.  Your beans with ashes would warm up the inside though.  The trains are happliy tucked away and enjoying their new digs just fine, thanks!  Oh, and how do you get those trains to pose so pretty for you?  Seems like those engineers see you with your camera and they just stop and pose for you.  Great shots!

Scott!  My man!  Were you been my friend?  Is life getting in the way again?  Welcome back!

Afternoon all, just a quick stop, Packers are playing.

Steve,,, glad you liked the pics. The 2'nd ones my favorite too.

Scott,,, maybe you need to say something to him or even his boss his boss bout him. He most likely thinks people will like or respect him more by doing it, but it doesn't help in that way and makes for a poor salesman.   But as long as your there do your best and be your self, you'll find it works better.

Flip,,, good job on the wasp. I have an understanding with them here. They leave me alone, I leave them alone. If they don't, I get the wasp spray out, I win.

PC,,,weathers was fine last night for camping and if it wasn't for the little ones spendingthe night Mother n me would have stayed the night.
Just get lucky sometimes with the photos. Don't know why that one stopped, there's a double main through there, but glad he did.

Catch ya'll laters, back to the game

Just looking in to see what's happening today. My system is down, so I'm on my parents computer. This dang thing is so slow. You'd think a 2.88 gig Intel P4 would be fast, but this thing creeps. I be glad to get mine back online. I'll be able to fly once again! What's the problem with mine? The cable modem went KAPOP yesterday and that was all she wrote. A tech from SuddenLink is supposed to be bringing a new one tomorrom or Tuesday.

Hi everyone:  I’m with Flip, too many pages to go over since I was last in (about 30 I think.)

So I haven’t seen if anyone has wished Happy Thanksgiving   to all north of the USA border tomorrow.

I’ve done almost no mrr in my absence from the CS.  However, I did, thanks to ArkJim’s quiet nudging experiment with making some rock castings from the molds I made a while back from the coal I found up in New Glasgow (from along an abandoned RR embankment ).  They turned out OK, and I was able to sand down the backs of several really quite thin ones to get them flat for gluing onto vertical foam faces.  I’ve made templates of those faces beside one of my tunnel mouths, and drawn the shapes onto the flattened castings.  They cut out fairly well with short strokes of an old blade in an X-Acto knife.  I’m quite pleased with the results, but there’s one face that is more difficult to do.  I’ve broken all the remaining thin castings, so I’m going to have to pour some more try again…..Banged Head [banghead]  Pics wouldn’t tell a lot at his stage I think, as it’s all so white!

A local fisherman is missing.  Didn’t return home yesterday.  The coast guard have been searching for much of last night and all day today.  There’s a ship, like the one Fergie used to be on before his present posting, in the Sheet Harbour Passage.  It’s helicopter has been active, we heard it last night. I thought it was a fixed wing aircraft doing a drug ship search (couldn’t hear the chop chop at all).  It was still flying this morning, so after breakfast I drove down the Passage and saw the CG vessel, a small cutter, and some zodiacs.

There was obviously a search going on, or a training exercise.  Then later this afternoon we learned that it was a search.  The man who’s missing is, I think, David Power, over to Mushaboom.  That’s on the other side of the SH Passage mouth from us here on Sober Island. The helicopter just swept our cove about 15 minutes ago.  That’s the first time they’ve been over this way, away from the Passage itself. Any who feel like praying for him and his family, I’m sure it would be appreciated.Angel [angel]

It's getting on, must but up the big table in the living room ready for the gang to come for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. TTFN.

Happy Thanksgiveing to all you Canucks. Thanks for the well wishes Der. I really don't celebrate Columbus day. He's a Johnny come lately as far as I'm concerned. My ancestors were here 492 years before him. We can't figure out what took him so long.

Scott: Hang in there. Unfortunately, you will run into his type many times in your life. I know that I have.

Not much going on with the MRRing.  did get some more done on the Cliffs shaft headframe. I stopped by a friends house last night on the my way home. He had just gotton a P2K 0-8-0 w/sound and I wanted to see it. It does run nice and the sound is pretty good. The chuffs were kind of strange though. It sounded like it was out of time. I told him to get on his chief mechanic and have that taken care of. You cant't have a loco running around out of square.

Well it's time to get to work so I'll see you all later.

Good Morning All,

Regular and a blueberry muffin please Zoe. Lime Rock went well though we hung a lifter in the 39 BMW 328 and had to park it. We also ran two Lotus 18's and a Lotus 7 - no problems there and good weather as well though a bit cold in the AM.

Spent yesterday helping at the rail museum. Got to service an RDC - two motors no waiting. Messy job changing out filters so I'll probably make up some spill trays here at work to catch the mess before it gets all over the engine pan and ground. The beauty part was getting to test the car riding around the yard and throwing switches. The RDC has controls at both ends so when you want to reverse direction you just pull the control levers and walk to the other end of the car.

No MRR work yet as my mom is still down from Canada and I thought it would be rude to disappear into the basement for hours. Did get some of my E-bay stuff, an IHC 4-6-4 Hudson which I intend to bash into an I-5, and the pair of Athearn GP-9's also in NH colors since I do such a lousy job painting.

All for now - it's just another day at work as we get ready for the trip to Road Atlanta and try to catch up on other work.  CUL,Big Smile [:D] J.R.
